Calem was running fast. He dared not to look back to what was behind him. Because if he did he would surely die. A shriek came from behind him. He had been running for about three hours now. He was amazed that he hadn't passed out of exustion yet. The reason was thanks to...her.
"YOU CAN'T RUN FOREVER!"
The voice belonged to Serena.
"Why can't you just accept that you lost and move on with it!" He yelled back to her.
"I'm supposed to be the one to defeat you every single time!" She screamed back. She was looking at him with the eyes of a predator.
"What are you? The protagonist of a game?" He yelled jumping over a few small pokemon munching on berries.
"YES!" She yelled back.
Calem could only keep running as stopping for even a second would mean death. He felt like he had been running for about five years now. But in reality, it had been about a few days.
"For Arceus' sake, please let this end." He prayed to the legendary pokemon. Even though it was probably caught by another trainer in the Sinnoh region. Or was it in the Joto region?
"THE ONLY THING THAT WILL STOP THIS IS MY FIST UP YOU'RE POSTIER!"
"F**K NO!" He yelled back in response.
Calem looked up ahead and saw that he was running out of road. And the reason for this was the enemy of all travelers.
2-foot high cliff edges. The worst obstacle of all. Well, that and small trees.
"This is the end of me now isn't it?" He thought to himself.
"END OF THE LINE CALEM!" Serena yelled as she noticed the cliff.
He was preparing to give up his life until a thought came across him. He did the impossible. He had defeated his rival with a disadvantage type pokemon.
He increased his speed and summoned all his strength to his legs. He closed his eyes and then he jumped. He felt himself in the air momentarily. When he finally felt the ground again he tumbled and rolled around.
He opened his eyes. He saw Serena with a face of disbelief. He was on the other side of the cliff. He couldn't believe it. He had just made the impossible possible. Again! Turned and began to do a little victory dance.
"How?" He heard Serena.
He looked back and saw her sitting with her knees against her chest. Her hands grabbing her head.
He wanted to say something but then someone put their hand on his shoulder. He looked back to see a Japanese man.
"No, this isn't how you're supposed to play the game." He said before everything went black for Calem.
