Destiny: Rapunzel
Kingdom Adventures
Rapunzel was honestly freaking out. She was watching herself achieve her dream but nothing makes sense. Her mother was threatening people, hurting others. In the books she was allowed to read, Rapunzel knew that mothers were support their children and yet her mother keeps glaring at Eugene. Fair enough, Eugene gave as good as he got but surely her mother just wants to see her happy?
Rapunzel looked over at the couple she kept finding herself staring at. She hadn't been introduced to them, and yet they feel familiar to her. Rapunzel honestly found herself hoping that she would get her answers soon and her life could go back to making sense in which her mother loves her and she would feel safe again.
Eugene is happily sleeping away when water drips onto face. He wakes up to see Maximus is glaring at him, soaking wet.
"Oh, so horses can swim" said Eugene. Max glared at his back and Rapunzel looks at him.
"Why wouldn't they?" she asked.
"No reason Blondie" said Eugene. She frowned at him and looked at the screen.
Eugene: Well I hope you're here to apologize.
He screams and Rapunzel shoots away from her hair cocoon to see Eugene being dragged away by the horse.
Arianna found herself laughing again. Was it because she was so close to her daughter, and was this Rider turned Eugene another missing part of their family and that neither she nor her husband had realise.
Eugene: No, no, no, put me down! Let me go!
Rapunzel runs up and grabs Eugene's hands, the horse and the lost Princess taking part in a game tug-o-secret-prince.
"That looks like fun" said Eugene. Rapunzel slaps her hand lightly against his shoulder. Eugene pretends to have been severely hurt, making the princess laugh. Gothel sighed and rolled her eyes. That boy was a poor bad influence on her easily influence victim.
Rapunzel: Release him.
Maximus begins to shake Eugene from side to side while Rapunzel tugs until the future couple go flying and Maximus is left holding Eugene's boot. Maximus marches to Rapunzel, boot still firmly in his mouth.
Rapunzel: Whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Easy, boy, easy! Settle down! Whoa, whoa! Easy, boy, easy. Easy.
Maximus stops and stares at Rapunzel.
Max took this time to look at the girl who was tagging along with his prisoner. She did kind of look the queen.
Rapunzel: That's it.
Maximus looks to Pascal, who is sitting on Rapunzel's head and gestures to Maximus to calm down.
Rapunzel: Now sit.
Maximus lowers his butt down slowly.
Rapunzel: Sit!
Maximus sits down.
Frederick was in shock. He had reports of Maximus. He was the best horse that Corona had, but was also very independent and hardly did what he was told. To see him doing what he was told was certainly a shocker.
Eugene: What?
Apparently, Eugene felt the same.
Rapunzel: Now drop the boot.
Maximus glares at her.
Rapunzel: Drop it!
He drops the boot to the ground.
Rapunzel goes to Max and begins to stroke him.
Rapunzel: Aww, you are such a good! Yes you are.
Max is clearly delighted, wagging his tail and hugging into her. Rapunzel moves away to stroke his face.
Rapunzel: You're all tired from chasing the bad man all over the place?
"Seriously?" asked Eugene, looking at Rapunzel.
"What?" she shrugged, "he's clearly tired. You shouldn't be so hard on him, you two are going to be best friends. I can see it."
Eugene and Max looked at each other, and shuddered.
Max nods.
Eugene: Excuse me?!
Rapunzel: Nobody appreciates you, do they?
Max grunts.
Rapunzel: Do they?
Eugene: Oh come on, he's a bad horse!
Eugene felt a hoove lightly hit the back of him. He glared at the white horse, who pointed at the frog sitting beside Rapunzel. Eugene gave him a "I know it was you" look before turning back to watch the screen.
Rapunzel: Oh, he's nothing but a big sweetheart!
Max neighs happily.
Rapunzel: Isn't that right? Maximus?
Eugene: You have got to be kidding me!
Max glares at Eugene round Rapunzel.
Rapunzel: Look. Today is kind of the biggest day of my life, and the things is, I need you not to get him arrested.
Max is not happy and grunts at Rapunzel.
Rapunzel: Just for twenty four hours, and then you can chase each other to your heart's content, okay?
Eugene sighs and holds out his hand. Max turns away from it.
Rapunzel: And it's also my birthday. Just so you know.
Max agrees and shakes Eugene's hand. Rapunzel hears the bells from the kingdom and walks through the handshake to get a better look. Maximus whacks Eugene in the chest, sending him down and making Max release a horsey laugh.
Max laughed too. Rapunzel sighs and Eugene felt phantom pains where Max would strike him in the future. Arianna and Frederick smiled at each other, it looked like their little group was coming together. Gothel rolled her eyes. With a palace horse present, she would never get her precious flower back.
The group arrive on the bridge, and Rapunzel turns to them really excited before turn to look back at the kingdom. Eugene and Max begin to fight but Pascal was watching them and tells them off. They hit each other once more before following Rapunzel.
"You two are acting like brothers" Arianna found herself saying before she could stop herself. Everyone looked at her.
"What? From when I would volunteer at the orphanage, there was these two brothers who would always fight each other and no matter how much they got punished they would be right back at it. And yet, if one of them got picked on by another kid, their brother would fight that kid. I think it's amazing what siblings are like. Me and my sister were kind of similar when we were children" Arianna sighed, remembering the good times she and Willow would have.
Rapunzel enters Corona only for her hair to get stuck and cause her to bump into animals and people.
Rapunzel: Oh, oh sorry!
Eugene collects her hair and catches sight of four girls braiding each other's hair. He whistles to get their attention and shows them Rapunzel's hair. They get excited and give great delight in braiding her hair so that it doesn't get in her way nor does it trail across the ground.
Rapunzel twirls once her hair in complete.
"Well, you certainly made their day" said Eugene. Rapunzel grinned, knowing that her hair had more magical properties than what was clearly being shown. It did bring happiness to those little girls.
Rapunzel: Thank you!
Eugene, having just ducked out of sight of guard, stares at her. Max and Pascal know exactly what is going through his head and tease him for it.
The royal couple smile at each other, knowing that when they do get their daughter back, they would also be gaining a son (in law) too. Eugene did seem like he would bring life back into the castle.
While in the market, Rapunzel is running between each new thing and another. She looks at fruit, Eugene buys them food and Rapunzel see the mosaic of the royal family.
Girl: It's for the lost princess.
Rapunzel looks at the mosaic but she hears music and begins to dance, slowly dragging everyone into it and Eugene is literally pushed into the crowd by Max.
Gothel breathed a sigh of relief. That was to close, Rapunzel isn't stupid. And she may have realised that she was staring at herself if she hadn't been distracted. Gothel knew that when they were returned, she would be moving herself and Rapunzel as far away as possible.
"That's you two, isn't it?" Rapunzel asked the King and Queen. Who looked at each other, then looked back at her and back at each other. They both nodded, speechless that for the first time in nearly eighteen years their daughter is talking to them.
The rest of the day is spent dancing, drawing, hiding from guards and reading books. The dancing ends with Rapunzel and Eugene, out of breath, but looking at each other.
Citizen: To the boats!
The future couple separate and look away from each other before beginning to follow the crowd to the boats.
Eugene is rowing a gondola with Rapunzel looking around and Pascal being given a special spot. Maximus is staying behind on the dock.
Eugene: Hey Max!
He tosses a bag of apples back at Max, who turns away.
Eugene: What? I bought them!
Max starts to eat the apples but freezes when...
Eugene: Most of them!
Rapunzel: Where are we going?
Eugene: Well, best day of your life? I figure you should have a decent seat.
A while later, they are looking out over the water. Rapunzel hums and Eugene looks over at her.
Eugene: You okay?
Rapunzel: I'm terrified.
Eugene: Why?
Rapunzel: I've been looking out a window for eighteen years, dreaming about what it might feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it's not everything I dreamed it would be?
Eugene: It will be.
Rapunzel: And what if it is? What do I do then?
Eugene: Well, that's the good part I guess. You get to go find a new dream.
'A new dream' thought Rapunzel, she had a feeling she didn't have to find a new dream. She thinks that she and her future self might have already found a new dream.
Rapunzel hums.
The shot changes to the king and queen preparing to launch their lantern. They go out onto the balcony and launch it into the sky, leading their kingdom to do the same.
Rapunzel found herself taking a deep breath. She was finally going to achieve a dream. A dream that she has had since she was a child and would sneak past her mother's room to look out the window.
