Destiny Tangled
Two Types of Prison

King Frederick had a feeling that this wouldn't end well, for either his daughter or the man she was slowly falling in love with. Even where he and his wife were sitting, Frederick would look over occasionally and see Rapunzel grab at Rider- er Eugene - or Eugene say something that would make Rapunzel laugh. And his daughter's kidnapper kept glaring at the young man so that made Eugene good enough for Frederick.

Eugene: Ah, there you are. Huh. I've been searching everywhere for you guys since we got separated. Hey, the sideburns just coming in nice, huh? Gotta be excited about Hmm-mm. Anyhow, just wanted to say, I shouldn't have split, the crown is all yours, I'll miss ya, but I think it's for the…

Eugene turns away after throwing the satchel at the brother but walks into one of them while the other stands up.

Arianna grabbed her husband's arm in fright. She was so concerned for Eugene. She thought it was because he was clearly the only one who can bring Rapunzel home, but the queen also found herself scared for a man that she could see in the future becoming quite close with.

Stabbington: Holding out on us again, eh, Rider?

Eugene: What?

Stabbingston: We heard you found something. Something much more valuable than a crown. We want her.

Rapunzel was standing patiently by the gondola when she sees a shadow approaching from where Eugene had disappeared to.

Eugene tensed and Rapunzel looked over at him.

"It's okay" she said, "I know you didn't tell them. I know who did, and I know that when we leave here, I will never ever be going back into the tower."

Eugene smiled at her, but he knew that they were probably not going to get to remember this, and even if they did. They had to play it out as they see it happening. Which means, that he was probably going to have to escape prison again.

Rapunzel: Uh. I was starting to think you ran of with the crown and left me.

Rapunzel grabs Eugene's hand, not knowing what had happened to him or what would happen to her. Eugene flexed his hand in hers before relaxing it.

The shadow splits into two.

Stabbington: He did.

Rapunzel: What? No, he wouldn't.

Stabbingston: See for yourself.

Rapunzel looks away from the taller man and looks out over the water to see Eugene on a yacht, sailing away.

Rapunzel: Eugene. Eugene!

Stabbingston: Fair trade, a crown for the girl with the magic hair?

Rapunzel turns around in fear.

Stabbingston: How much do you think someone would pay to stay young and healthy forever?

The other brother grabs a sack and prepares to catch Rapunzel in it, who runs away but her hair gets caught on a branch and as she struggles to free herself, a fight is heard from where the brothers were about to grab her.

Gothel: Rapunzel!

Gothel, Arianna and Frederick breathed a sigh of relief. Gothel because she was getting her flower back and in its proper place, the couple because if Rapunzel is back at the tower, then Eugene would know where to go. He'll escape their prisons. He's done it to every kingdom in the nearby vicinity, and if the rumours are true, prisons in Italy too.

Rapunzel makes her way back to see Gothel holding a branch and the two brothers knocked out.

Gothel: Oh my precious. Are you alright? Are you hurt?

Rapunzel: Mother, how did you ...?

Gothel: I was so worried about you dear. So I followed you. And I saw them attack you and - oh my, let's go. Let's go before they come too.

Rapunzel turns and watches as Eugene sails further away, and she begins to cry. She turns and looks at Gothel, who holds her arms out, and Rapunzel runs into them.

Gothel smiled, knowing that she was going to win. However, in the real life, Rapunzel was slowly inching herself away from Gothel. Seeing what she had seen on the magic wall had caused Rapunzel to slowly lose trust in her supposed mother.

Rapunzel: You were right Mum. You were right about everything.

Gothel: I know, darling. I know.

She and Rapunzel make their way back to the tower.

Meanwhile, the boat that Eugene is tied up on hits the dock underneath a guard station and he begins to come round.

Guard: Look!

Eugene: Rapunzel! Rapunzel!

He is grabbed by a dozen guards and pulled on deck. Maximus watches confused.

Max watched, he was slowly coming up with a plan in his mind. Would those drunken idiots be useful?

Eugene: No, no, no, no, no, wait, wait, wait, guys. Rapunzel!

Maximus, now worried, frowns at the other side of the water. He doesn't see anything.

A while later, Eugene is looked out the window when the Captain comes into his cell.

Captain: Let's get this over with.

Eugene: Where are we going?

The Captain gives Eugene a look, Eugene releases a small noise and puts a hand around his neck.

"What did that mean?" Rapunzel asked, getting very concerned for Eugene. He froze and looked at the King and Queen. Who were just as scared to answer as he was.

"It means that he will be getting punished for his crimes. He rightfully deserves it" said Gothel. Rapunzel stood up.

"No he doesn't" she said, "whatever that meant. Eugene isn't a criminal. He just had to make due with what he had, as did I. I'm running out of room in that tower to paint. What will happen when there is no room?"

"You'll paint over some of the older ones" said Gothel, started to get a big angry.

"Or you could let me leave! Or find another place to live! I can't stay in a tower for the rest of my life!" Rapunzel shouted, "I'm not your prisoner!"

"Yes!" screamed Gothel, "yes you are. Stop arguing with me! It's for your own protection!"

"I will leave. We've seen it. And I will leave again and again until you can never find me. I'm your daughter, not your prisoner." With that, Rapunzel sat down, regrabbed Eugene's hand and continued to watch. Gothel was seething. This was never supposed to happen. Rapunzel was never supposed to be brave, she was always supposed to depend on Gothel.

In the tower, in Rapunzel's bedroom, Gothel is picking the last of the flowers from Rapunzel's hair.

Gothel: There. It never happened. Now wash up for dinner, I'm making hazelnut soup.

Rapunzel keeps her head down.

Gothel: Huh. I really did try, Rapunzel. I tried to warn you what was out there. The world is a dark and selfish and cruel place. If it even finds the slightest ray of sunshine, it destroys it.

Gothel leaves and Rapunzel opens her hand to reveal a corona flag. She lies down on her bed, clearly still upset and looks up. She frowns, finding the sun from the flag appearing in random places in her paintings. She gasps and grabs her head as a memories of the King and Queen come to her. In an attempt to calm her headache down as a realisation comes over her, Rapunzel bangs into her dresser.

The whole room froze.
