Destiny: Rapunzel
Escape
"What" whispered Rapunzel, confused, "what?"
Gothel looked ready to kill someone. She quickly stood from her seat and stepped toward Rapunzel. Rapunzel stood from her chair and stared at Gothel.
"You aren't my mother" she said, "so who are you?" Gothel breathed deeply through her nose.
"Rapunzel, flower, you are being ridiculous. Of course I'm your mother! I'm the one who raised you, who was there for your first steps, who was there to teach you to write, who encouraged your painting..." the older woman would've continued had Queen Arianna finally gotten sick of holding her tongue.
"Only because you took her from her crib" she said as regal as ever. Rapunzel held a hand to her mouth as she finally realised that her real parents had been sitting quietly the whole time. Not saying a word, even though it must've been hurting them.
"Because you stole from me" hissed Gothel. Eugene found himself dragging Rapunzel back from the warring women.
"What? That flower! It was never yours, it belonged to no one!" Frederick said calmly.
"I had for years, and years before you lot even existed. Before Corona was even a tiny brick of house. I will exist long after Corona is dust thanks to your precious lost princess" Gothel hissed. Rapunzel, who had frozen when Eugene had pulled her back, grabbed a strand of her hair and wrapped it around Gothel. She pulled her to her chair and tied her up with the hair while Eugene ripped a piece of cloth from his clothes and gagged her.
Gothel screamed behind her gag while Rapunzel avoided looking at her parents while all her parents could do was look at her. Eugene, not really enjoying the silence, clapped his hands.
"Shall we get back to the ..?" He pointed to the wall where a picture of himself, of course, had frozen.
"Yes, shall we?" said Frederick as Rapunzel and Arianna nodded and they made their way back to their seats. Pascal jumped onto Rapunzel's head in an attempt to comfort her.
Eugene is being escorted to his death sentence when he spots the Stabbington brothers in a cell. He does that most amazing thing ever in which he headbutts his guards, leaps over his own bound wrists and grabs a brother, slamming him against the bars and getting angry.
Rapunzel blushed, wondering how she could find that attractive. All he did was knocked out two guards and jump over his handcuffs. Arianna casually fanned herself.
Eugene: How did you know about her? Tell me, now!
Stabbington: It wasn't us. It was the old lady.
Eugene: (whispers) Old lady.
He gets grabbed the guards and dragged away.
Eugene: Agh! Wait! No! Wait! You don't understand! She's in trouble! Wait!
"You weren't going to escape?" Rapunzel asked. Eugene shrugged.
"No idea. Probably because I had no idea where those guys had taken you but now that I know it was your whoever she is that told them, I probably figure you were in danger" he winked at her and she laughed.
Back at the tower, Gothel is slowly climbing the stairs to Rapunzel's room.
Gothel: Rapunzel, what's going on up there?
Rapunzel leaves her room, still in a daze and looking kind of out of it.
Gothel: Are you all right?
Rapunzel: (mumbles) I'm the Lost Princess.
Gothel: Oh please speak up Rapunzel. You know I hate the mumbling.
Rapunzel: I am the Lost Princess. Aren't I? Did I mumble Mother, or should I even call you that?
Eugene claps slowly. Rapunzel looks at him.
"You look just like a strong woman there. Well done blondie" he said. Rapunzel blushed again and went back to watching the wall.
Gothel: Oh Rapunzel. Did you even hear yourself? Why would you ask such a ridiculous question?
Rapunzel: It was you! It was all you!
Gothel: Everything I did was to protect you.
Rapunzel pushes past Gothel and makes her way down the stairs.
Gothel: Rapunzel.
Rapunzel: I've spent my entire life hiding from people who would use me for my power. When I should have been hiding from you.
Gothel: Where will you go? He won't be there for you?
Rapunzel: What did you do to him?
Gothel: That criminal is to be hanged for his crimes.
Rapunzel gasped, now realising what Eugene had cradled his neck for.
"You can't" she said to the King and Queen. Her parents. They looked at her.
"You can't please. I think I love him" she gasped, nearly in tears. Her parents didn't know what to do but Eugene did as he grabbed her in his arms and held her close.
"Well, I did say this was story of how I died" he joked but Rapunzel didn't laugh, only holding onto him tighter.
"He'll escape" the king said at last.
"What?" Rapunzel asked through her tears.
"Flynn Rider always escapes. He's escaped at the last minute before. He will escape again" Arianna reassured her. Rapunzel nodded and attempted to wipe her face.
Rapunzel: No.
Gothel: Now, now. It's all right. Listen to me. Everything is as it should be.
She goes to pat Rapunzel's hair but Rapunzel grabs her arm.
Rapunzel took a deep breath. She was filled with worry for Eugene, for her future self and for what would happen to either of them. All Eugene could feel was proud. Pride that filled him for Rapunzel, for standing up for herself.
Rapunzel: No! You were wrong about the world. And you were wrong about me. And I will never let you use my hair again!
Gothel is pushed and knocks over the mirror, smashing it. Rapunzel walks away.
Gothel: You want me to be the bad guy. Fine. Now I'm the bad guy ...
"You were always the bad guy, it just took me a while to see it" whispered Rapunzel. Gothel glared at her over the gag and hair.
Eugene is being dragged down the corridor behind the captain, who walked in front. Eugene frowned when he saw the small unicorn innocently sitting on a break in the wall.
"Doesn't that belong to the thug... you know the bigger one. I can't remember their names" said Eugene frowning.
"I think it was Vlad" said Rapunzel, "and yes."
The door slams shut in their faces.
Captain: What's this? Open up!
Shorty's face appears in a small door.
"How did they get there?" Eugene asked. They didn't know see Max smirking at himself behind them.
Shorty: What's the password?
Captain: What?
Shorty: Nope.
Captain: Open this door!
Shorty: Not even close.
Captain: You have three seconds.
One (one guard is taken, shocking the second guard and Eugene)
Two (the other guard disappears)
Three...
The Captain turns around to see Eugene standing alone in the corridor. He gives him a little wave. The door opens, and Attila hits the captain with a frying pan.
Eugene: Frying pans! Who knew, right?
"You are certainly looking happy?" said Frederick. Eugene smiled.
"Yeah, I don't think I would've been able to escape before being hung" said Eugene, "that captain of yours is certainly a determined human being."
"Yeah" said Arianna, "wait until you meet his daughter. I'm sure you two will get along brilliantly."
The door at the other side of the corridor bangs three times and opens as more guards come running in and Eugene, handcuffs removed, is raced away by the thugs. The guards chase them to Ulf, who distracts them until they get knocked out.
They run into the courtyard and Eugene is placed into a specific spot.
Hook: Head down.
Eugene: Head down.
Hook: Arms in.
Eugene: Arms in.
Hook. Knees apart.
Eugene: Knees apart. Knee's apart? Why would I need my knees apar...
Vlad jumps and Eugene is sent flying.

Eugene: Max. You brought them here?
Max smiles.
Eugene: No really. Thank you. Uh. I feel maybe this whole time we've just been misunderstanding one another, and we're really just ...
"Would you two just leave already!" Arianna nearly shouted. She sounded excited. Everyone looked at her in shock. Frederick sighed and laughed at once.
"She gets a bit excitable" he explained. Rapunzel's eyes widened.
Max gives him are "are you being serious right now?" rule.
Eugene: Yeah, you're right, we should go.
They race across the spires of the castle. Max is aiming for the edge.
Eugene: Max...Max...Max!
He screams as the horse leaps from the castle onto a kingdom house to land on the street and race out of the kingdom of Corona.
Eugene: Okay Max, let's see how fast you can run.
