Unfortunately, before leaving for work Alison had stationed Bob in the living room to make sure Jenny didn't walk out the front door as soon as she had gone to work.
'She didn't buy the sleepover thing and knew I was out with Agnes; I'm grounded. Can't get away – J xoxo'
Jenny through herself onto the bed. She wasn't sure how her life had managed to become even more complicated that it had been in New York in a sleepy little town like Forks.
She knew her relationship wasn't healthy, but she was in love. She just hoped they could grow together. They both had things they needed to work on.
She had wished she could go back to her innocent self. Before all of the secrets and lies. But she couldn't go back she could only go forward.
She wanted things to work out with her Mom as well as Jacob. She could work at being the new old her.
'I miss you – JB x'
Jenny smiled down at her phone.
'I wish you were here – J xoxo'
She set it down and decided to get on with her homework. Maybe that would do something towards easing the tension with her Mom. She planned on making dinner as well. Her Mom usually got home late from teaching an art class at a community center, the last thing she wanted to do when she got home was start cooking.
After working on her homework, she decided to sort through her closet. Her darker items had a special place in her heart. She wasn't throwing them out, but she was setting them aside. She could still have a little edge without being 'vamp girl'.
A bang behind her made her jump. She turned around to see Jacob looking sheepishly up at her from the floor.
"What the hell are you doing" She hissed being careful not to yell.
"Jenny is everything ok?" Bob called up the stairs.
"Yeah" She replied " I was sorting through my closet and a box fell"
"Do you need some help?" Bob asked
Jenny could hear him on the stairs.
"No I'm fine" She replied.
"It sounded heavy" Bob said.
"Just books" She replied "I can put them back"
She sighed with relief hearing him walk back down the stairs.
"Are you trying to make sure I stay grounded" She hissed at Jacob who was now laying on her bed.
"You wished I was here" He shrugged.
"You couldn't have been more graceful about it?" She asked as he pulled her down beside him.
She knew she couldn't be mad at him. He knew it to, and it was infuriating that he seemed so carefree while she was freaking out. If her Mom found him there, she'd be sent to a nunnery.
"I'll be gone before she's home" He told her.
"Ok Edward" She replied.
"Don't compare me to him" He groaned.
"Sorry" She laughed.
She knew that vamps and wolves had issues, but she was sure they'd like each other if they ever spoke properly and didn't just exchange insults.
"I don't need to read your mind I know you" He said as she snuggled up next to him.
"It's going to be harder now right?" She asked.
"What is?" He asked.
"Being away from each other" She replied.
"That's always hard" He told her "But yeah last night was perfect as well"
"Just like Baby and Johnny" She said nodding.
"Like who?" He asked sitting up.
She could feel herself turning scarlet. She couldn't believe she'd said that out loud.
"Like dirty dancing" She muttered.
"You're cute when you're embarrassed" He said kissing the tip of her nose.
"Baby" He said to himself "I like it"
"Do I always have to have a nickname?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"Don't you like it Baby?" He teased.
Jenny just rolled her eyes. Truthfully, she didn't mind. She thought it was cute, but she would not tell him that.
They spent the afternoon together. Just talking. It was nice that someone was happy to just spend time with her. It wasn't about what she could give beyond her company. As promised Jacob was gone before her Mom came home. She had made dinner and cleaned the house. She was determined to make things work.
