The rest of the day seemed to go as normal as it could go for Mayl. The same sky, the same city, the same⦠everything. There was only one thing missing. She still missed Lan very much. Every search attempt to find him ended up in failure. They'd tried looking for him by tracing any energy signature left from cross-fusion.
"How long will it take to find Lan?" Mayl whimpered. Even the passage of time did not fully heal her grief. She had help from everyone close to her. This included Dex, Jasmine, Yai, and even Lan's mother. She was the one who she could mostly relate to the best. After all, she'd felt like she had lost another son.
"Soon" Dr. Hikari spoke from the distance. "If we can restore Megaman then Lan's memories should come back." He was hoping that if he saw Megaman it would trigger him locked memories.
Soul, was looking between the two with a confused face, was wondering who MegaMan was. She had heard that name many times before but never questioned to ask. Every time it was mention she saw a hurt expression in her mother's eyes. She didn't like the idea of hurting her mother, so she never questioned it further.
On the outskirts of the SciLabs Kent stood looking from afar. His dark eyes looked around seeing if any security was nearby. He had some weapon in hand. It resembled a sniper gun but the only difference was that it didn't carry any bullets.
"This place hasn't changed a bit since our last visit," Kent spoke breaking the silence around him.
"What are you waiting for? Send me in" The voice of his PET cried out.
Kent loaded the PET onto a slot on the sniper. Kent had created a much safer way to jack Bass-Cross into the Net in unsafe places for him from far away.
"Jack in, Bass-Cross, power up." Kent sneered.
A laser light beam shot from the barrel of the gun and into a computer.
"Uncle I'm a big girl now!" the little Navi cried out. She saw Dr. Hikari through the computer screen. She enjoined his presence. She still didn't understand how he was her Uncle.
"Yes you are, but you still need some growing before you're fully grown," said to his niece. He wanted to tell her everything about what her purpose was, but she wouldn't understand at her current stage of development. Despite her advance programming she had to 'grow up' before anything else could be done.
*Warning Intruder alert!*
All the alarms went off at once. Everyone was checking through security cameras to see who it was. Over the last few short years, many have tried to take Soul due to her potential to also be a weapon. Luckily, Roll was able to take care of many of them thanks to the motherly instincts she had acquired.
"Okay, who is it this time?" Roll yelled out to nobody in particular at the moment.
Suddenly two rolling purple flame attacks came and knocked her off her feet. She landed on the floor with a nasty thud.
"Did not expect that," she grunted as she got back her feet.
"Where are the security navies!?" Mayl yelled as there was a lack of navies defending hers.
"Took care of them already. They didn't even have time to materialize." A voice came out from the distance.
Horror filled up within Rolls eyes. She slowly looked over to the direction of the voice.
There he stood not making a sound except for the sound of his footsteps. He walked slowly, yet menacing, towards the two navies.
A small but fast blue attack struck "Bass", but didn't do any harm. He looked over to the side and saw the child. If it wasn't for the mask covering his mouth you could see his malicious grin.
"Stay away from my mommy!" yelled Soul. She had her own mega buster out.
"Ah, the child I heard so much about," Bass-Cross said looking at the child. He could almost feel her raw energy emitting off of her.
He turned away from Roll and started walking towards the girl.
"Your power will be a nice addition to my own."
Bass-Cross stopped for a brief moment and quickly swatted his arm, he deflected a blast coming from his left side.
"You're going to have to go through me first." ProtoMan stood across from who he thinks is Bass.
"Chaud? When did you get here." Mayl asked. She was surprised to see him standing right next to her.
"I've been here a while." He responded. "Get Roll and Soul out now. He's probably here to absorb her power." After all what else could he be here for? Every time he'd show up it was due to something powerful drawing his attention.
"Fine, you don't have to tell me twice. Roll, can you hear me?" Mayl yelled out to her Navi.
"..."
"Roll?"
"Someone cut our communication off" A worker yelled out to them.
"Dammit" Chaud muttered out.
"Language!" Mayl yelled only to get a quick glare from him.
"Ah, ProtoMan. Do you not remember our previous encounter?" Bass-Cross sneered.
"This time it will be different." Proto transformed his right arm into a sword. "Roll, log out with Soul!"
"Okay, come here Soul." She grabbed her child and began to log out, but an error occurred midway and snapped her back.
"What?" she said in disbelief.
"Proto Sword"
Bass-Cross disappeared from in front of Protoman and to behind him.
"Too slow"
"I was hoping for that."
"What?"
Before he could question any further he was hit by a ray of energy that paralyzed him. He slowly landed on his feet and slouched a bit. His cloak dematerialized back into a scarf revealing his hidden body.
Proto stood there in shock. He had seen images from archives of Bass, but his body did not seem accurate. It wasn't until he looked "Bass's" Chest and saw his symbol. It looked like Bass and Megaman's combined into one. But how was this possible?
"...MegaMan?"
