Soul Stood frozen in fear. She was staring at the one who called her 'daughter'. He, in turn, stared at her back. How was he able to sneak up on her without setting off any alarms?
Bass-Cross looked at the shorter navi, who grew bigger than the last time he saw her. Her quick change in her appearance astonished him. What sort of navi was she suppose to be? What was her purpose? Was she designed to destroy him?
"So, tell me. What is your purpose here?" he asked.
She stood there in silence for a while before muttering out a few words."How did you get here? Where are the security navies?" She returned his question with another. It shouldn't have been possible for a foreign navi without a clearance code to enter the Scilabs network. The moment he entered it would have set a silent alarm, causing everything to go into lockdown. Security navies would have spawned everywhere to locate and subdue the intruder. Yet, none of those things happened.
Bass-Bross looked at her annoyed, but strangely he understood her. The first time breaking into Scilab was a blunt task. They took no precautions because he did not think any of them could last even a second. This time around he knew who he was. He let the Megaman part of him be recognised by the security feature. The only downside was that anyone with a brain would become suspicious that Megaman was in the network.
"It's quite simple, dear," He put a hand on his chest, "Your father, Megaman, is part of me." He looked at her reaction, which was full of disbelief. He walked up to her. She in return took steps back. "Soon you'll be a part of me."
Soul was soon backed up by the wall of a column. The navi who was claiming to be part of her father was getting closer. She was trembling in fear. She never felt like this before. During her few years of being 'alive,' she had thought that she had felt every emotion. Her last encounter did scare her, but she had her mother. Now this time she was truly alone.
He raised his arm into the air and summoned a basic sword. He did not see it necessary to use powerful attacks. She seemed far too weak to deal any real damage. She had no previous experience in battle, not counting the one time she shot him in the back, so she was in a disadvantage.
He swung down with killing intent. The movement was so fast that no normal navie would see it coming. However, he suddenly stopped. The sword was only a few centimetres away from making contact with Soul's helmet. Why couldn't he move? It felt like something was telling him not to.
Soul, on the other hand, broke out of her paralyzed state took advantage of the situation. She knew a simple blast to the face wouldn't damage him. She aimed her buster right to his face in hopes in blinding him long enough to hide. She quickly made a dash for the columns. Now she hoped that one of the turrets would spawn in to distract him long enough so that she could make a run for it. She peeked around the column to see if he knew where she fled. To her surprise, he had not moved an inch. He was still locked up in his previous position.
Bass-Cross was staring right where Soul previously was. The bast did nothing to him of course, but he wasn't standing still by her sudden attack. It was because he decided to stop attacking her at the last moment.
"No, we cant" One voice called out inside him.
"Why should we care? She will make us stronger." Another one called back.
Kent was inside the building. It seemed completely abandoned. Everyone was back at the previous battlefield. He was able to get into the building thanks to the help of Bass-Cross. He was able to open the door without sounding the alarms. Of course, they were on a strict time schedule. It wouldn't take long for the Netsavers to realise where they went.
The plan was to get in and get out with the merchandise. However, it seemed to take longer than usual. What was keeping him occupied?
He walked over to the main computer and took out his PET. he was him standing still. For a moment he thought his PET froze and hit it a couple of times but then noticed that the screen was still interactive.
"What is going on inside his head?" he wondered.
He opened his mouth to speak, but something caught his attention. He saw an old PET with a picture frame and a blue bandana on it to the right of it. He recognised it. It was his old blue bandana and PET. The picture was of him and his family. There was something mesmerizing about it. He soon found himself stuck in a trance. He was soon only looking at his mother.
Bass-Cross suddenly broke out of his state. He soon realised that he had let her get away. He took a look around to see a bunch of columns surrounding him. They were the only thing keeping her hidden. No matter, he could still sense her. But the columns were still a bit of a bother.
Soul was still running as fast as she could. Without the aid of battle chips, she was all on her own. There was no chance of her winning in a one-to-one battle against him.
Her thoughts were cut off by the sound of a heavy object slamming against the ground. She looked behind to see that one of the columns had been sliced off. Then the sound of another one falling and slamming down to the ground. Each one was getting closer and closer. She felt her fear slowly creeping up her back again.
Bass-Cross, on the other hand, was only toying with her. It didn't take long for him to find her out. All he needed was for her to render her unfit to put up any resistance. The fear tactic was proving very effective. He could feel her fear. He slowly started to walk towards her, knocking down any other columns nearby.
Soul couldn't keep this up. She was going to have to face him eventually or else she would perish. The last of the columns that were keeping her hidden was destroyed. She slowly looked back to see him face to face again. He raised his arm into the air. She could only stare at the blue blade. She closed her eyes. A single tear rolled down her face.
If she was going to die.
She hoped it would be painless.
He kept staring at the picture. He couldn't keep his eyes off it. Kent was stuck in a trance. Why was a picture of a single woman keeping him from moving? He couldn't understand it. She meant nothing to him. Didn't she?
"Why can't look away?"
"Does mom even miss me?
"What? NO, she doesn't"
"She took care of me"
"They all do, and then leave."
"She never did."
"We don't need her."
"You don't...I do."
"You are no one."
"I am Lan Hikari, Let me out."
"You no longer exist."
"LET ME OUT!"
Kent was screaming in pain. His head felt like it was being crushed between two giant boulders. Then it felt like something was ready to burst out of it. His eyes rolled back before collapsing and fading out of existence.
The boy's body was laying there on the floor. He remained motionless for a few more moments until a few twitches on his left hand showed signs of life. He opened his eyes to see that he was on the cold floor of a lab. He tried to get a grip on his sense of familiarity.
"I'm back." It was Lan. He was finally free from his mental prison. All that time just being a spectator while someone else was controlling his body was horrifying. He couldn't believe what horrible things he did while Kent was the one in control of his body.
He got himself up and almost tipped over. It felt strange being in control again. He was a stranger to his own body. He was a lot taller than he was before this happened. His hair was longer and since without his bandana, it looked like a mess. His mother would give him an ear full if she got the change. Actually, that's what's going to happen.
His attention was shifted to the screen, which displayed Soul and Bass-Cross. He frantically looked around to find the PET connected to Bass-Cross. He snatched it from the floor and pressed the recall button. But nothing happened. He pressed it again to see if he didn't press it hard enough, but nothing changed.
He didn't know what to do. The PET was useless. After all, Bass-Cross was still partially Bass. Then he looked back to his father's station. His old PET was sitting there. Then he looked back at the screen. Bass-Cross was getting closer and closer to Soul.
Then it hit him. He was also part Megaman, his brother. So, his old PET should still be connected to him. If it was then he could use that to recall him and instantly disable it. Leaving him trapped there, at least for a few minutes to escape.
He walked back to get his old PET. However, before he could do that he grabbed his bandana and tied it on his right arm. Lan Hikari was truly back. His PET had a full battery. Who would charge an empty PET? However, it didn't matter. What would happen it wasn't?
He went and walked towards the computer. He pointed his PET at it. He pressed the recall button. He saw Bass-Cross raising his sword up ready to strike. He hoped it wasn't too late.
