Time seemed to move slowly for both Lan and Soul. Lan held in his breath as the red light beam appeared to take forever to reach its target. The sword coming down on Soul was moving so slow that she thought she should just end it herself.

Then the moment of truth came as the light beam make contact. Was Lan to late or did he succeed? He slowly turned his PET's screen towards him. He was still holding his breath as he turned it.

Soul stood still. Was she finally deleted? No, that couldn't be. There was no afterlife, as far as she knew, for navies. So, how was she still conscious? She was too afraid of opening her eyes. Afraid of seeing 'him' if she did. Then she hears the sound of footsteps running. At first, she thought it was Bass-Cross walking away, but then she came to realise that it wasn't coming from in front of her. The sound came from somewhere in the real world. She slowly opened her eyes.

She was no longer inside the computer network of SciLabs but inside of a PET, it looked familiar but much older. The only problem was that she didn't know who's it was. The screen did show up to display the outside. It only seemed to have the audio working. Wherever she was, it was away from him. Then it came to her that she could check the PET's data information to see who's PET it was.

Outside of the PET was Lan running as fast as he could, he had to get away. He didn't understand why Soul was the one who was recalled into the PET. However, he didn't question it any further. He was able to save her and that was good enough for him. Now all he needed to was to get out of SciLabs and get in touch with the Netsavers.

Bass-Cross had just struck the ground where Soul was moments ago. She had been logged out of the network and presumably back into a PET. The only question was, who? There shouldn't have been anyone else in the room except-.

All of a sudden he bolted from his current location and navigated his way to the security system. His careless actions caused security traps to appear. Hundreds of battle navies appeared and lunged at him. He paid them no mind as he just sent summoned multiple hells rolling attacks and let them do the work.

Unknown to him, because he was focused on getting to the security system, he had set off an alarm that alerted the Netsavers. Then the security was then ramped up to eleven. Turrents and even larger powerful navies, that seemed to be specifically designed for him, appeared.

Now, these seemed like they were going to be trouble. They were nothing like the previous defences he faced in previous break-ins.

He swung at one of them and to his surprise, it was able to take it. However, it wasn't able to take on another. They didn't seem to care or be afraid of being deleted. One after another took a swing at him. He might not have had any problem dealing with them alone, but having the turrents fire on him did prove problematic. Each time he deleted one another just took its place.

Because he was so focused on moving on, he wasn't able to think clearly on his situation. His only plan was to hit and run. He could have easily just have summoned multiple attacks to get rid of them.

Lan was still running. Not trying to slow down for one second, because if he did he would give Bass-Cross an opening to close him in using the security doors. He was so close on reaching the exit. He saw the front desk, meaning that the door to the outside was close by.

He was just a few more feet away from reaching the exit. Then an iron wall came down in front of it. He was too late. He couldn't believe it. He was so close to freedom that he could taste it. After being a prisoner in his own body since he was 13, he more than willing to die than to continue living like that.

"So close, Hikari."

Lan heard Bass-Cross's voice coming from the PA. he didn't what to do at the moment.

"But I can't let you leave that easily." His voice sounded irritated. "How were you able to break free?" He questioned. His brain was rewired down to its cells.

"Simple, you can erase an image off of a memory stick, but it will always leave an imprint." It was true for everything. An entire field could be blow up and be regrown in time, but there will be evidence of the event.

There was no response from him. Lan was standing there locked up with nowhere to go. How was Bass-Cross going to be able to get Soul from him? There was no way of getting a dimensional area up without the cube. Was there?

He was quickly proven wrong as he remembered that he was in SciLabs they created their own areas. At the same time as his thoughts, a dimensional area was summoned up. He almost cursed at himself as he realised that even if he was able to leave the building he wasn't able to outrun those. And with no Megaman to cross-fuse, he was helpless.

He was soon face-to-face with Bass-Cross as he materialized in front of him. Both eye-to-eye at the same hight. Lan recognised those eyes, but they were the wrong color. The once emerald green eyes of his brother were a dark reddish-purple. Not one bit intimidated by his glaze he took a step forward.

"I know you're still in there Megaman," Lan spoke without missing a beat, "I know that Bass is also a part of you. But you've dealt with worse." "I Know that deep down you're conflicted to do anything evil recently. I was too." He started to raise his voice louder. "Fight it Hub! I did and you need to do the same!"

His only response was being flung across the room and hitting the wall with great force. He was pretty sure he broke a few ribs. He struggled to get up. However, he was able to maintain a grip on his PET. He heard the sound of footsteps walking towards him. There was nothing else he could do.

Unless.

Bass-Cross was only about four feet away from Lan. He lay on his side faced away from him. He only noticed him pulling out something from his pocket. He ignored it. There was nothing that he had that could stop him.

"Where is Soul? You were able to pull her out. But how?" He asked genuinely confused about how she was logged out. He heard a few clicking sounds coming from him but didn't pay it much mind. "She does not have her own device to escape to." He gathered intelligence and it was found that she was not able to be programmed one.

"Heh, looks like she able to inherit more than just Hub's looks." Lan laughed a bit. Irritating Bass-Cross a bit. He rolled around to face him. Revealing his PET and the synchro-chip above the slot. "And she's been listing the whole time."

"You cannot hope to fuse with her. You have no connection to her." He said believing what he was about to do was baffling.

"I pretty sure that our goal to bring Hub back is enough reason." He said before inserting the chip in and being covered in light.

When It died down it revealed the new cross-fusion. It looked almost like Roll-Soul, but with it being blue and minus the extra two antennas. He had the standard lines connected from his chest symbol to his limbs. The design on his helmet was identical to when he was fused with Megaman.

"You're a fool to challenge me."

"Perhaps, but I'd rather die than to be a slave again."

"Then so be it."

CF-Soul summoned a long sword and took a swing at him. Bass-Cross easily dodged it and returned with his own attacks. CF-Soul avoided damage by summoning a shield. He was able to take all the hits.

"Life aura," CF-Soul said as a white aura surrounded his body. It easily absorbed any attacks without having to sacrifice any movement. He was glad that while being Kent he still had his habit of collecting battle chips even though he never used them.

He then summoned his buster. He pointed at Bass-Cross face. Opened fire and temporarily blinding him. He took this opportunity to summon another attack. Scanning in his own brain for the right chips.

Bass-Cross was getting tired of that cheap move. If he started to fire off in random directions he might bring the whole place down and bring down the dimensional area. He couldn't let that happen. However, his train of thought was cut short.

"Sword, wide sword, long sword, triple download, dream sword!"

When his vision came back he was greeted with the sight of CF-Soul holding a sword, that eliminated with light, between his hands. He didn't have time to fully react in time. He was struck and sent flying through the wall, creating a large hole to the outside. The attack left a gash below his chest. He held his hand against his wound. Before he could do anything else he saw the Netsavers getting off SciLabs van. He was then struck again by another attack. This time it was the zeta cannon.

CF-Soul was surprised that his attacks were doing some much damage. However, he didn't stop to question it any further. Whatever was going on was working, and he intended to keep it that way. He saw him getting back up. He summoned another one, prepared to fire again but stopped when he saw how damaged Bass-Cross was.

Bass-Cross was bleeding data heavily. The last attack had destroyed his right arm. The gash left by the dream sword had opened wider. He was struggling to stay up. One more attack like that would definitely delete him. If he was, then so would Megaman.

Conflicted to what to do next he struggled to prevent the cannon from firing. Then he looked behind Bass-Cross. The dimensional area wall was right there. He had an idea. He aimed ever so slightly and fired. The energy from the cannon broke through the area. Destroying the dome and forcing Bass-Cross to disappear.

Lan unfused with Soul, but when he did his previous injuries started to act up again. He dropped to his knees. He looked up to see a Van driving towards him. When it stopped he saw his old friends getting out.

The one who caught his eye was Maylu. They shared a few glances. He saw tears forming in her eyes. He would have done the same, but his injuries, plus post fusion, finally took its toll. His sight blacked out as he fell to the ground. The last thing he heard was his dad yelling his name.
