Ok everybody, I'm sorry that it took me so long to update, I've just been trying to think of what to put next, but nothing ever came to mind. But in this chapter, everyone who's been being trained better be ready, because they're finally gonna battle against a massive army of goblins. And that's not all. Daniel will end up seeing an old, unfriendly face.
Late in the afternoon in the Arendelle castle, the people who'd volunteered to help fight any disasters to come were out in the courtyard training with both the Arendelle guards and the undead soldiers, learning as much as they could.
At the same time, ships were docking at the shore, meaning the other kingdoms who'd King Adgar sent letters to agreed to lend their help.
One of the ships making its way to the docks was from the Southern Isles, and on board was King Phillip, and his 12 younger brothers. And at the bow section of the ship was Hans, staring at the kingdom he'd tried to take over by killing the queen and princess. The youngest prince sighed, not wanting very much to be back.
"What's wrong, Hans?" another one of his brothers who'd had his ginger hair grown a few inches longer, but kept tied in a small ponytail behind his head. "Does this place not bring back memories?" he asked in a mocking tone.
"Not now, Jack. I just find it awkward to be here again, after being denied the kingdom I wanted, and then thrown into the brig on board this same ship," Hans said to his brother.
"I suppose if you'd beg the queen and princess for forgiveness, they'd maybe cut you a break," a second of his brother's who had a slightly lighter shade of hair, and had it combed flat mocked. "Just go in there on your knees and plead for forgiveness."
"Jack, Sam, enough!" Phillip yelled down to them. "We're not here to make jokes or to get the queen and princess to forgive Hans; We're here because the king requested our help in a very serious matter."
"Consider yourself lucky Phillip doesn't stand for this Hans," Sam said to him. "But our biggest brother won't always be around."
Hans rolled his eyes and turned away from them.
Meanwhile in the castle library, Daniel, Elsa and King Adgar were all in there alone together.
Daniel crossed his hands across his face, and opened up his now electric blue glowing eyes, and like before that same blue light spread across the entire room, meaning he was showing them another illusion scene from his past.
The light faded away, showing outside of his house back in his hometown. It was early in the morning, and his father stepped out of the now repaired front door, since Daniel had unintentionally ripped it off its hinges before.
His father Luke was wearing a long sleeved dark blue shirt, with a black vest, dark gray pants and black boots, and he was also holding a mug of coffee.
He took a sip of his morning beverage and looked all around, but as he took a step out the door, he stepped on something hard.
Luke Simmons looked down to see something at his doorstep, all wrapped up in light brown paper, and on it written in black letters said the words, 'For Daniel Simmons.'
He kneeled down and picked up the package. "What might this be?" He asked himself while walking back into the house. "Daniel, Son. Come here!" He called up for his son.
A young 15 year old Daniel walked down the stairs wearing a short sleeved, burgundy red shirt, with black pants, and his usual black boots. "Yes?" He asked coming up and sitting at the table with his father.
"Someone left this for you," Daniel's father said giving him the package.
Daniel took it and examined it. "Who sent it?" he asked.
"It didn't say. All it said was that it's for you," his father replied.
"Well, let's see what we have here," Daniel tore off the paper, revealing that dark red book, with a dragon circling a shield and two crossed swords. "It's a book. Maybe it's from the bookstore. I am Mrs. Harper's usual customer. But I never saw this one there before. It doesn't even have a title."
"Must be a new book or something," Luke suggested. "Maybe it's one she thought you'd like. It's probably one of those books about adventures and legends you like so much." And he took another drink of his coffee.
Daniel unbuckled the book strap and lifted up the cover, and on the first page of the book, were some of its many strange inscriptions.
His father looked shocked at the strange words in the book. "Well that's really strange, I suppose it could be written in a foreign language, but I've never seen that king of language before."
Daniel stared at the inscriptions with hard eyes. "It says 'Greatness and fascinations will come throughout countless ages, only to those who understand this book's pages."
His father looked at him in surprise, "How did you know what it says?"
"I don't know. I just looked at it and it was crystal clear to me. I could understand it as if it were written in English."
"But what did any of that mean,' Daniel's mother asked walking in carrying a few plates of omelets with bacon to the side.
Daniel began flipping through the pages seeing more inscriptions, but still understanding each one of them. "Incantations," he said. "Mom, Dad, I don't think this book came from any bookstore."
Why?" his father asked.
"Because I'm pretty positive bookstores don't carry spell books."
His father choked on his coffee after Daniel had just said what he did. "What?" He coughed. "Spell book?"
"Yes. These pages are all full of incantations, and instructions on how to do real magic. And that must be what greatness and fascinations mean. And to only those who understand its pages means anyone who's able to read what it says. I think maybe I can try a simple one, this doesn't seem dangerous," Daniel said viewing over the incantation in the book, and then he turned over to the kitchen window and focused his attention on a pot of dead flowers. He put his right hand out and began speaking in a different language, and as he did the flowers in the pot slowly became un-wilted and grew their beautiful red and yellow petals.
His parents both looked shock.
"How-how'd you do that?" his father asked.
"I just looked over the spell in the book, and spoke the incantation. I don't know who sent me this book, but maybe I can use it to help people, Dad."
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Son. OK, I admit that was rather impressive, but other people might not feel the same, Daniel. They might think you're..." His father tried to find the right words. "...a freak of nature. They might accuse you of being an evil sorcerer."
"Maybe you're right, Dad. If that's the case, then for the time being I'll keep this to myself, and just maybe practice in private."
His father nodded, and then the electric blue light flashed all around, ending the illusion scene, and the trio in the library were standing back in the present.
"So, that's how it happened," Daniel said. "My dad finds a package for me on our doorstep, and I find that who knows where it came from, I receive a spell book."
"And yet you never found out who gave it to you?" King Adgar asked.
"Not once. I wish I knew who gave it to me, so I could thank them. I mean even though I had decided to keep it a secret, it was still amazing. So fascinating that I had been given something not at all common. A book full of instructions on how to do magic. After receiving that book I began using as much free time as I had to practice, so that I could one day maybe use it to help people."
"Well I'm certainly glad you wanted to do what's right. I think some people would go power hungry with a book like that," King Adgar clarified.
"Maybe some people would, but not once was I ever tempted to use it for my own personal gain. I always stuck true to my intentions."
"So, from what Elsa told me, she wants you to teach her how to use its magic, too," the king said with a small smile.
"I just thought it'd be nice to learn a little more magic than just ice powers," Elsa blushed slightly.
"Well, whenever you want to try and learn some of it, I'll gladly teach you how," Daniel said to her.
"I'll give you two some alone time," King Adgar said walking to the doors. "I need to check in with the other kingdom's rulers that have arrived."
He walked out of the library and closed the door behind him, leaving Elsa and Daniel alone together.
"So, I suppose if you want to learn a few spells, now's a good as time as any," Daniel said.
"Sure. I'd like to see what it's like being able to do more magic," Elsa replied.
"Now we'll start with a simple one. Remember the spell I showed you after you discovered my left arm was iron?"
"The spell you used to turn ice into solid gold," Elsa remembered.
"Right. This one's very simple. So once more I'll need a couple samples from you."
Elsa nodded and created two big cubes of ice in her hands and gave one to Daniel.
"All right to use this spell, there's no incantations; You just need to hold and object in your hand and focus. Think about nothing but the ability to turn anything you'd want into solid gold," Daniel said and a golden light spread and covered his ice block, turning it instantly to gold.
"Ok," Elsa said and closed her eyes for a few seconds then opened them back up. She stared hardly at her block of ice focusing on what Daniel told her.
In seconds she did what Daniel did, and a light spread across her block of ice, turning it into solid gold as well.
"I did it," she said happily.
"Great job," Daniel said. "I didn't doubt you for a second. I'd helped hundreds of homeless people with that spell. I'd just go down to see dozens sitting in old alleyways, scrounging for just a single scrap of food."
"I feel so bad when people have to suffer like that," Elsa said in awe.
"So what I'd do is I'd collect rocks in a big sack, turn them to gold, and lay them at the feet of the homeless people."
"I think it's easy to see why you were never tempted to do the wrong things. It's because you have a heart of gold," Elsa said to him.
"Why, thank you. Now let's see what else is simple in this book," Daniel said flipping through the pages of his spell book.
Meanwhile in that cloaked person's dark lair once again, he was sitting in his throne, and he and the goblin general were both watching the progress of not only Daniel, but to all the other men who were training as well.
"He's challenging you master," the general said to his creator. "He's rallying his forces to fight against us."
"Indeed," said the figure in the throne. "Well, then there's only one thing I can do: I accept his challenge."
"What? Master did you say that you accept his challenge?" asked the goblin general.
"I did. You shall lead an army of goblins to Arendelle, General."
"How many, master?"
"Enough to invade 10 kingdoms."
The goblin general smirked wickedly. "Consider it done, master. After all I have a score to settle with the boy."
"You're welcome to fight him as much as your heart desires, but do not kill him. Understand?"
"Yes, master."
"And do not let slip anything about me again, or it'll be the last mistake you'll ever make."
"Affirmative, sir," the general bowed his head and then he walked to the exit.
The following day in Arendelle, early in the afternoon, Daniel was looking out the balcony in his bedroom, looking to the horizon and admiring the sight.
"Enjoying the view?" a voice asked from behind.
Daniel turned around to see Elsa walking up from behind him.
"I'm sorry. Was I interrupting your concentration or something?"
"No, not at all," Daniel replied. "And to answer your other question, yes. I am enjoying the view. It's amazing what you can see from a room this high in a place like this."
"It's a really pretty sight isn't it. It looks even better when the sun sets," Elsa said coming up and standing to Daniel's right.
"Every once in a while, I like to wake up early and sit out here, until the sun comes out. I really enjoy the view of a sunrise on the horizon. The way it's dark out, but slowly as the sun comes out, it bathes everything with light. And seeing it reflect from the ocean, it's just so...so fascinating."
"I think one of these days I may want to do that with you," Elsa said looking to him.
"Well, I suppose we could do that sometime. Anytime you'd like to works for me."
"Oh, look. More ships are coming," Elsa said looking to the dozens of oncoming ships in the distance.
"Something doesn't seem right about those ships," Daniel said going over to one of his dresser drawers and pulling out a bronze telescope.
He walked back to the balcony and looked through the telescope; Through it he could see the dirty wooden ships closer, and they were also broken in certain places. What was worse is that on board each one of them, were hundreds of goblins.
"Those aren't kingdom ships. They're all loaded with goblins!" Daniel gasped.
"What?!" Elsa exclaimed.
"Take a look," Daniel said putting his telescope over the snow queen's left eye, allowing her to see them.
"This isn't good. What do we do?" she panicked.
"It's time those men saw action. Come on. Let's go tell the king."
They ran out of the room and on their way out, Daniel tossed his telescope on his bed.
Out in the courtyard, the king was viewing the progress with the training men, while walking alongside King Phillip of the Southern Isles.
"You're men are exceptionally well trained," King Adgar said to his friend.
"Thank you. We hired some of the best trainers in the Southern Isles to not only teach our guards to fight, but my brothers and myself as well," King Phillip replied.
"When I was a boy, my father would teach me all he knew before he died. He knew that it was my dream to follow in his footsteps. I didn't think I'd ever have to fight though when I became king of Arendelle. Turns out I was wrong. I'll finally get to use what I learned from him."
"I hope you remember how to, King Adgar."
"Trust me. Throughout the years, even in death, I never forgot any of my training."
"Your Majesty!"
King Adgar and King Phillip looked to see Elsa and Daniel making their way to them.
"Your Majesty, we have a problem," Daniel said catching his breath from running.
"What's wrong, son?" King Adgar asked.
"An army of goblins is making their way here on board over 5 dozen ships," Daniel explained.
"What?!" both the kings exclaimed.
"And there's no telling what they may be carrying on board those ships."
"Captain!" King Adgar called out.
The captain of the guards ran over to his king. "Yes, sir."
"Gather up your men and evacuate the town. There's about to be an attack. So gather up all the women and children here."
"Right away, sir," the captain said making his way out of the courtyard.
"King Phillip," King Adgar said turning to him. "If you would, help me gather up the men, and get them suited up for battle."
"Gladly," the king of the Southern Isles said.
"Elsa," King Adgar turned to his eldest daughter. "I need you to help gather up the women and children. And also, get your mother and your sister, and tell them to take shelter in the castle. I'm assigning you to protect the women and children."
"Yes, Father," she said walking into the castle.
"And Daniel," the king turned to the magical swordsman. "If you would, go into my bedroom and bring me my father's armor."
"Right away, Your Majesty," Daniel said running back into the castle.
After he left he and King Phillip started rallying the men together to prepare them for the coming battle.
At the fjords, the goblin ships were preparing to dock at the shore, and at the same time, underwater right underneath the docks, big puddles of shadows opened up, and out from them crawled dozens more goblins, and they'd made their way up onto the docks.
On board the lead ship, the goblin general looked out to the nearby kingdom. "Soon, vengeance shall be mine." He said to himself.
The ships docked and the goblins all marched their way to the streets of Arendelle, as hundreds came from both the ships and the water, lead by the general himself.
At the castle, the guards were moving the women and children into the castle, while the men were all getting suited up into full suits of armor that were silver and light gray.
They armed themselves with swords, shields and axes, readying themselves for the fight that was to come.
Up in his room, Daniel had pulled out his pitch black suit of armor out of the burlap sack, and strapped it onto himself once more.
"If this army is bigger than any other we've faced, I have no choice but to wear it once more," Daniel said to Elsa who was standing at the doorway.
"I hope things don't go wrong like they did last time," Elsa said.
"You and me both. But thankfully when I wore this to save you from my evil self, I was able to keep my anger in check."
"Daniel," came another voice from out in the hall.
King Adgar stepped in wearing his father's armor with the dirty gray vest with dark gray sleeves, black pants and leggings, a pair of dark gray gloves and a dark blue cape on his back. "They're making their way through the town and pillaging everything."
"Has the town been evacuated?" Daniel asked him.
"Yes. The women and children are being moved safe into the castle as we speak."
"Now remember, only women and children in the castle, I need all men out there fighting."
"Right. Let's gather the men up and take the fight to those savage monsters."
Daniel walked over to the side of his bed and picked up his sword, then attached it to his belt.
Outside the castle, the goblins marched in formation through the town, pillaging all the stands in their path, being lead by the general.
At the same time, making their way outside the castle gates, Daniel and King Adgar lead the men out to the opposing army.
As soon as they were all out, Anna and Queen Idun closed and locked the gates.
"I know I said we'd never close them again, Anna," Elsa said coming up next to her sister. "But I hope you know..."
"Don't worry. I understand. This is for the safety of the people here," Anna said putting a hand on her sister's shoulder.
"The guards left us weapons in case those monsters get through the gates," Queen Idun said to the other women and children.
Marching out into the town, the two armies could see one another in sight and they both stopped a good distance from each other.
Daniel and the goblin general both stepped a few feet forward from their troops.
"So, we meet again, General!" Daniel said to the goblin. "You have a lot of nerve coming here, threatening all these innocent lives. I told you if you ever showed your face again, I'd finish what I started."
"The only thing that will be finished is you, maggot!" the general called him out. "You and these pitiful fools are no match for the true coming storm. Every person in the world could help you fight, and it wouldn't make a difference. Soon you'll all be swallowed by darkness."
"You're wrong. I know that as long as I'm not alone I can never fail. Unlike you though, you heartless beasts have no one but yourselves, you may group together like an army, General. But I know you and each and everyone of your so called loyal soldiers only care for yourselves. Which is why I know you'll never win."
"You may have rallies your forces, boy, but your men shall be slaughtered. One by one each and every one of them will fall."
"These men knew the risk when the king asked for their help. You may have a bigger army than I do. But these men have been exceptionally well trained. And will you men surrender to them?"
"NO!" the men all yelled in unison.
Daniel unsheathed his sword and pointed it at the general. "It's time to finish what we started general."
The general grinned evilly. "I'm afraid my troops have other ideas." He pointed his hammer forward, gesturing for them to charge.
The goblins all started walking faster towards the men.
"All right, men," King Adgar said drawing his gold handled sword. "It's time to put what you all learned into action."
The men all drew their weapons, readying themselves to fight.
"Now!" Daniel yelled and they ran towards the goblins, as the two armies clashed in battle.
Deep in the battle, King Adgar and Daniel were back to back, facing down the goblins, slaying them left and right.
"I know you've had your share of battles when we met, but how's this handle for you Your Majesty?" Daniel asked.
"It certainly seems like it could be more than I anticipated. But somebody has to stop these monsters," King Adgar replied.
They took off in separate directions, running through the crowd, slaying more and more goblins.
Kristoff was among the crowd with the rest of the men, and was sword-fighting with a goblin, and was barely able to defend himself, since he'd obviously never used a sword in his life.
But even though he was barely holding his own, he swung as hard as he could making the goblin let its guard down, and giving the mountain man the chance to put his sword through its chest.
After killing it however, another goblin wielding an axe came up to him and slammed it down, and Kristoff fell back, but was able to dodge it. While on his back though that goblin loomed over him, raising its axe once again. But before it could slam it down and kill Kristoff, it was pierced by another sword.
The one who killed it and saved Kristoff was none other then Hans and he kicked the dead goblin away.
"You saved my life," Kristoff said looking up to the youngest prince of the Southern Isles.
"Yeah, well you owe me one. You need more experience with a sword," Hans said to him.
"Didn't have enough time to practice."
"Well, now's a good as time as any," Hans said walking off and getting back into the battle.
As he was fighting and killing his way through each and every goblin that crossed his path, Daniel looked over through the crowd to see the general, who was using his hammer to knock away any men in his path.
Some tried to fight the general, but none lasted long against him, for he was too strong to handle; Not even the undead soldiers could hold their own against him.
The general looked towards Daniel and then grinned wickedly with his sharp, ugly serrated teeth.
"Let's go, you big brute," Daniel said raising his sword and then charging at the general.
The general, who'd had a few other of his goblin lackeys by his side sent them to slow Daniel down, but once they reached him, he struck them down almost instantly.
Once they were out of his way, the swordsman charged towards the goblin brute and Daniel prepared to strike him, but the general blocked with his hammer, then hit Daniel in the chest with it, knocking him to the ground.
"I still have a scar from last time you did that, but even though I enhanced the strength of my armor, this one seems much stronger."
"It won't help. Soon you'll be consumed by your own hatred."
"We'll see."
Daniel rushed at the general once more, but before he could take another swing, the general swung his hammer, forcing Daniel to dodge.
The general turned towards Daniel, again and attempted to slam down his hammer, but Daniel backflipped away as the general knocked a massive hold in the ground.
Daniel then took his chance and struck the general where his right arm used to be, making him groan in pain and drop his hammer.
Daniel smirked and then rushed at the general, but the brute used his left arm to punch Daniel across his face, knocking him down again.
The goblin general then kicked Daniel's sword away, and then walked towards Daniel who was getting back up.
"I don't need a weapon to fight, you ugly brute. I'll take you on with my bare hands if I have to."
The general smirked and then attempted to claw Daniel with his claw, in place of his missing right arm, but Daniel caught it with his left arm, and then punched the general across his face multiple times, before the general kicked him away.
But Daniel was able to regain himself instantly by doing a backflipping back onto his feet before he could fall.
"Time to take it up a notch," Daniel said cloaking his hands in fire, and throwing fireballs at the general, who simply pulled a shield that looked just like his armor off his back and blocking Daniel's attack.
"Let's see you dodge this one," Daniel said crossing his arms and then spinning fast as lightning. He stopped and used his winds of iron ability, and shot a blue blast at the general, which he tried to block with his shield again, but when it hit his shield he was sent flying back, and crashed through the wall of a wooden building.
Daniel smirked that his move worked, but his victory was short lived when the general arose from the debris, glaring angrily at Daniel.
"Just don't know when to stay down, do you?" Daniel said and then used his light tether ability to pull his sword back to his hand.
The general walked back over to Daniel, while picking up his hammer.
Daniel rushed towards the general once more and they continued to fight, clashing both their weapons with one another, both trying to render the other defenseless.
As the general attempted to bring his hammer down on Daniel, he caught it with his left hand, then tried to strike the general, but he'd also caught Daniel's weapon with his claw.
Daniel struggled to not only keep the general from slamming his hammer on him, but also to try and continue his attack on the general.
As he struggled to do both at once, the general lifted up his hammer, then quickly used his metal claw to get Daniel in his face.
Daniel groaned in pain and then could feel the left side of his face bleeding, from being scratched by the general's claw.
"That does it!" Daniel yelled as his ocean blue eyes began to glow fiery red.
He then blasted the general's hammer from his hand, then blasted the general back with a bigger fire blast, making him slide across the ground, and tearing the ground up.
In the battle with the men and goblins, King Adgar looked to see Daniel lashing out in full rage and aggression again. "Oh, no. Not again."
"What's wrong?" King Phillip asked killed a goblin from nearby.
"It's Daniel. The last time he wore that suit, it somehow made him go berserk and attack the goblins relentlessly."
"But he told us that these ugly beasts had to be killed."
"Yes, but it's not like him to feel nothing but rage."
The general picked up his hammer and got back up, and started limping towards Daniel.
"That'll do it, General," the voice of his master spoke telepathically to him. "You and the army have done quite plenty. Fall back."
The general nodded and then called out to his army, "Goblins! Retreat!"
The hundreds remaining goblins all took his command and then retreated.
After they did, dark portals opened up, allowing the goblins to leave Arendelle.
"Hey!" Daniel yelled. "Don't run from me! I'm not finished with you!" He then rushed at the general, but when he reached him the general swung his hammer, knocking him on his back once more.
After the rest of the army made it through the portals, the general walked through one, and each and every portal vanished into thin air.
"No," Daniel said in anger. "NO!" He yelled aloud and slammed his fists into the ground, making a big hole in it. "Get back here, you big brute. Get back here and fight me! I'm not finished with you!"
Daniel, Daniel they're gone," King Adgar said walking up to him. "They're gone. There'll be another time." He put his hands on Daniel's shoulders, put Daniel just turned and knocked him to the ground, leading to gasps from all the other men, along with the women and children who'd come from the castle to regroup with their men.
Daniel stared down to King Adgar with his orange glowing eyes, panting heavily.
But when he saw the fear in the eyes of everyone who looked to him, his rage turned to fright and his fiery red eyes turned back to blue.
"What...What's happening to me?" Daniel said looking to his trembling hands.
"Daniel, calm down. It's...it's okay," King Adgar said as he and Elsa came towards him.
"It's gonna be okay," Elsa said. "We can help you."
But Daniel just opened up a portal like the ones the goblins had escaped through, except this one was glowing silver.
He fearfully backed into it and it disappeared as soon as he walked through it.
No sooner after he left, it started to pour down rain.
"I told you he was evil," Queen Idun stepped up towards Elsa and King Adgar. "You could see it in his eyes."
"He is not evil, Idun," King Adgar glared towards her.
"He was just scared and angry that's all," Elsa said. "Like I was when my powers got loose at my coronation."
"You two have too much faith in him. If you don't wise up, bad things are gonna happen."
You can believe what you want, Idun. But you have too much hatred towards him, and that blinds you to the truth to who he really is," King Adgar said to her. "Come on, Elsa. We have to find him."
"But where do we start looking?"
"I think I know where he is."
Elsa and King Adgar went back to the castle, and then they went out wearing rain cloaks and riding out on their horses.
Ok, that's all for now. I'm really sorry I haven't updated in so long, but I just keep running short on ideas and need time to think. Though now, thanks to that suit of armor, Daniel lashed out once more, so now Elsa and the king have to find him. In the next chapter, he'll have a really important choice to make. What is it though? You'll see next time. Please read, review and enjoy.
