Superman Returns to Gilligan's Island
A/N: This story takes place shortly after the Gilligan's island movie "Rescue from Gilligan's Island".
Gilligan was on the beach by himself, looking out over the lagoon where the crew and passengers of the Minnow II had dragged themselves to shore a few days ago.
They wouldn't be going anywhere, anytime soon.
It had been a week since they were lost in the storm (again) and shipwrecked on a deserted island (again) . Gilligan had found a piece of the original SS Minnow, proving they were even on the exact same island they had landed on before. And as usual, he Gilligan, was the one blamed.
Gilligan muttered, "No one knew we were taking the Minnow II out, much less where we were headed, so no one knows to even look for us yet. They'll never find us. Just like before."
Just then he heard a voice from the sky say "Oh, I wouldn't be too sure about that!".
Gilligan observed a figure drop from the sky and land in front of him. A figure dressed in a blue suit, red boots, a stylized "S" on his chest and a flowing red cape.
"Superman?" said Gilligan.
"The same. How are you Gilligan?"
"I'm fine, except we're shipwrecked again on the same island! I'm glad to see you, that means we're rescued."
"Perhaps." Superman replied. "But before I do anything, I want you to think about it first. Look deep inside yourself and ask if that's what you really want."
"Huh?" said a puzzled Gilligan.
"First, it's strange that you and your group were here 15 years, then within a month, ended up stranded again back on the same island. Perhaps this is where fate has decided you're supposed to be.
You see Gilligan, you and your friends were marooned on this island for 15 years. During those 15 years, you and your friends not only survived, you thrived. The people you set out with, this group of strangers, ended up being closer friends than many people ever have. You might even say your group has achieved what many all over the world are seeking: a contentment in living, without the worry and stress associated with the modern world; but yet not so primitive as to be uncomfortable. You might say you have the best of both worlds."
"I'd never thought about it like that. Are you saying we should stay put?" Gilligan said.
"Well that's up to you. But I'd think it over first. Here's what I'm going to do. Take this signal watch. Pressing the button on the side will send out a radio signal that my fortress will pick up and relay to me, anywhere on Earth. If I'm on the planet, I'll receive it and come. But only use it if all of you decide to go back to civilization. Or if you have a real emergency. I think everything else can be solved by the intelligence, knowledge and creativity of the Professor; the leadership and strength of the Skipper; the bravery of the crew of the Minnow; and the willingness of your entire group to cooperate to solve any problem."
"Thank you Superman!" said Gilligan.
"And I'll also look in on you occasionally, just to make sure you all are OK." Superman said with grin.
With that said, Superman looked toward the sky. Gilligan followed his gaze skyward. There was whooshing sound akin to being next to a car traveling close by at high speed and Gilligan caught a glimpse of a red-blue blur tracing a line upward that disappeared almost instantly.
"Wow. Goodbye Superman!" Gilligan said and waved to the sky.
"Gilligan!" the Skipper's voice suddenly boomed. "What are you doing staring at the sky?"
"Nothing Skipper. I thought I saw something".
The Skipper craned his neck and looked skyward. "Well I don't see anything. It doesn't matter anyway. Come along Gilligan, I've got work for you to do".
"Aye aye Skipper." Gilligan replied with a grin.
