Day 8

I found Leliana and Zevran going through plans in the library. They had already tried going right into Dustown to gather information but were shut down hard. No one was talking to us and, on the way back, they were almost run down by Harrowmont fanatics. Many of the nobles kept on telling us that it's not safe to wander around unless we were in a group. Fanatics, carta, it was sound advice.

"This is harder than I thought. If it was Orlais, I would only have to sing a few songs and bat my eyes to go anywhere." Leliana pouted.

"I just need to be persuasive either in bed or on the rack." Zevran crossed his arms.

"No luck huh?" I sat down at the table.

"These dwarves are very tight lipped. I would have used my services but there is no reason to be lynched right now." Zevran waved that away.

"…When is a good time to be lynched anyway?" I gave him a confused look.

"We are running out of ideas. We don't have the advantage of surprise in this. The whole city knows of us and we are all a foot taller than everyone so we are very conspicuous." Leliana leaned on her hand.

"What about disguises?" I wondered.

"Of what? There are plenty of disguises but we are a tall reed against the waters, they will know." Zevran scoffed.

"Hmmm…" I rubbed my chin.

"Well, there was some good news, apparently a dwarf found himself with the Maker and is spreading the Chant of Light." Leliana smiled. You know when you're watching something and a lightbulb appears over the head of a person? That's what happened to me.

"Wait, the Chantry is here?" I asked.

"No, he is merely an initiate but is already spreading the word." Leliana lightly clapped.

"Leliana, I could kiss you right now! We can use that! You think that initiate will give us some Chantry robes if you mentioned you were also an initiate? You can spin a tale on it, saying that we want to go to Dustown to spread the word!" I got up all animated. Leliana and Zevran looked at each other and then at me. "Is it not good?"

"That is actually a very good idea and one we need some discretion with. Zevran, you can't come." Leliana said, getting up.

"What? I would do well as a Chantry initiate." Zevran chuckled.

"Your face is recognizable due to your tattoo as well as your accent. So long as I put make up on, I'll be fine." Leliana explained. Zevran grumbled before Talen came in and saw all of us. Leliana and I looked at each other before smirking.

"Talen! Just in time! We need you." I went up and grabbed his shoulders.

"For what?" Talen wondered. Leliana came up and started to stare at his face. I darkly chuckled while he started to feel a bit nervous. "What are you doing?" Leliana put her finger on his brow and she nodded.

"Yes, he will do." Leliana giggled.

"You think they might also talk if we go offer them food?" I asked.

"That is a great idea. Talen, come with us. We have just figured out a way to find more information." Leliana said as she pushed both of us out.

"Tch." Zevran scoffed behind us.

"I'm not like you and Zevran, I don't think I'll be able to do much of anything." Talen said.

"Oh you will. Meet us at the door." Leliana patted his shoulder. "Oh and don't bring your staff."

"Eh!? Wait!" Talen shouted but Leliana was already skipping to her room.

"Yeah armor is going to be hard to hide behind the robes huh?" I said, glad that I still had on my relaxing robes on.

"What are you guys going on about?" Talen wondered.

"You'll see also don't furrow your brow so much. You're 18, you shouldn't be getting wrinkles so soon." I chuckled.

"…I'm not going to like this plan very much am I?" Talen gulped.

"You'll live." I patted him on the back before going over to the kitchens. I explained that I needed a well sized pack and they gave me one. I went back to my room and made sure to grab my daggers. It's going to be risky going in without armor so I might as well make sure I had something to defend myself. If we play our cards right, we won't need to fight at all.

Eventually we all met at the door. Leliana had switched to her old initiate's robes. Where she put them after all this time, I have no idea. So out we went. I started counting out the money we needed to buy the food. The good thing is that the diamond quarter didn't have the fanatics. Once in the marketplace, Leliana went to the dwarf initiate while Talen and I put in as much bread, cheese, and meat in the pack with a small barrel of fresh water.

"So you guys still haven't told me what you want to do." Talen crossed his arms as I paid off the food merchant.

"Well since you're here now, we're going to be disguising ourselves as Chantry folk. Apparently a dwarf found the Maker while he talked to the human merchants. Leliana is going to get us some robes and we're going to go in Dustown, give them food, and see if we can get someone to talk to us." I nodded explaining it.

"And why can't Zevran come instead of me?" Talen wondered. I wrapped up the sack and put it over my shoulder.

"Well his tattoo on his face of course and his accent. He already went to go and talk to them, they'll know who he is. You haven't gone and…well…I'm pretty sure Leliana has plans for you." I did an evil smirk and Talen scowled. We walked through the marketplace, avoiding a few places that had some fanatics here and there. We ended up right at the entrance of Dustown. Leliana was waiting there with a few robes for us.

"Good, you're here. Come, come." Leliana led us to an empty home. "I talked to the Brother and he would like to open a Chantry. I told him, if I talked to the Grey Wardens, they may be able to speak to the Shaper." Leliana put down the bundle of robes before going up to me and measuring it.

"You really think the dwarves are going to accept another God? They're really big on worshiping the stone. There was a lady that told me about praying to it all the time for her son that got lost in the Deep Roads." Talen said before looking in bewilderment as Leliana passed him some robes.

"I said I would speak to one and I have. I would like to at least have them listen to him." Leliana sighed.

"Hey, wait a minute, aren't these Sister robes?" Talen looked at the ones that Leliana passed to him.

"Well a pretty face does wonders for loose tongues." Leliana winked at him.

"Nope!" Talen tried to flee but I caught him.

"Too late!" I giggled.

"Hands off! I am not going to play a girl for you guys!" Talen tried pushing me away.

"Really? I thought you would like to help us…" Leliana looked absolutely crestfallen. Talen stopped struggling.

"I mean…all they have to do is just listen to my voice." Talen looked away.

"That's why we have this!" Leliana perked right up with assortment of make ups in a small case. Talen's gaze headed to the door. "I really can't ask anyone else, please Talen? It would make me happy if we can do this together."

Talen's face grew so red, I let go to put my hand over my mouth from laughing loudly. Talen looked at the robes, to the make up, and then to Leliana.

"Fine…" Talen grumbled. Leliana clapped her hands.

"Good, put on the robes over your own and I'll get started with the makeup. Then I'll use this coif to hide your ears." Leliana held up the black hat that I've seen and Talen started to put on the robes. I went to put on mine and I was very glad that Chantry robes were very roomy. Leliana styled my hair different than my own and put on light makeup on my face. Leliana nodded before going over to Talen.

"These should do for the pockets in the front." Leliana gave Talen some rolled up bandages as make shift breasts.

"I swear, I think you're having too much fun." Talen grumbled before putting in his fake boobs.

"Perish the thought!" Leliana giggled before putting the coif on and letting out a few blonde strands. She put on his makeup and, my God, Talen makes for a good crossdresser. She let her hair get a little messy and made some freckles as well as dark patches on her skin. After viewing us in the mirror, we don't look our usual selves.

"Not bad. I'm guessing I'll have to do all the talking since you've already gone?" I said, getting the sack of food.

"If you would like. Talen, just stand there and look pretty." Leliana said. Talen stuck out his tongue at her and she winked at him. I have to hand it to her, she knows how to handle him well. So off we went toward Dustown. The homes near the path were ok, not as run down than I thought. The further in we went, however, the more dilapidated the building became and the grimier it started to look. I saw from the windows that we were being watched. They weren't being sneaky about it either. Why should they? We were on their turf.

Leliana chanted, Talen kept his mouth shut, and I would chime in with Leliana on some things that I remembered from back in Highever. Soon we reached a huge clearing. In game, it was a small spot that didn't have much to show for. Here? In waking life? Things are always different.

It was a wide cleared out circle with a huge bonfire in the center. Shards of glass, various broken shields and weapons laid on the ground. Many dwarves were out and about, crying children rang in the air, it stunk to high heaven too. We got a lot of varied looks and some dwarves that had thrown together armor and weapons came forward. Either way, we had a job to do.

"Hello good dwarves of dust town! We are but humble sisters looking at your time of need! We have brought food and the chant to help your souls travel to the Maker!" I said loudly. I put down the food and water in front of me while dwarves were talking amongst themselves before they started to come forward. Those that held their own cups, got water, or if they also had water skins. We picked apart the food slowly to not waste it all. There were a few that tried to threaten us with knives but Leliana's glare would make them put it away.

"How odd that you all would come here to do it. Most surfaces keep to the commons and the diamond quarter." A dwarf woman asked and got some bread, jerky, and a cup of water.

"I think that if most saw what was happening down here, they would change it." I said sincerely. Talen snorted and I gave him an inconspicuous step on his foot.

"Don't flatter yourselves. You know why no one comes down here. We live in filth, don't got nice and fancy stores like up there. Also we're casteless, who want to hear the words of someone that's been caste out? Not only that, Jarvia seems to gotten paranoid ever since they killed Beraht." She shrugged, eating. Leliana gave me a smirk.

"Oh and you know Jarvia?" Leliana asked nonchalant.

"Know her? I used to run with her!" She chuckled. "Name's Nadezda. Used to be her right hand woman, until Leske came and broke my kneecaps to prove a point." She lifted her skirt and her knees were definitely misshapen. "Got infected, and now I won't probably be able to work another day. Got kicked out and making a living by what I got." Nadezda winked at Leliana but she was unfazed by it.

"Do you have an idea on where to find her?" I asked and Nadezda took a chunk off the bread.

"Mm, good stuff. I'm guessing you guys are spies for the Warden right?" She looked at us but we all didn't flinch. "Don't worry about it, at this point I don't give a crap. Jarvia got a stick up her ass so it's about time for her to be taken down a few notches. She's making her workers carry around a carved bone which can unlock a door to the hideout. The door is always changing, but the key remains the same. That counts for something right?" Nadezda held out her hand and we gave her extra food and water. "Last I heard, the house right next to the cliffs had a few thugs in there with it." Nadezda looked at the place three times before going away.

"Looks like Jarvia's men aren't exactly loyal to her." Talen mumbled as we gave out the last of the food.

"A gang only can run in fear or loyalty. Considering what Leske did to Nadezda, I'm pretty sure it's out of fear and that can only work for so long." I replied. We started walking out of Dustown. Leliana and I noticed that we were being followed though. Soon we stopped as there were three dwarves in front of us and two in the back. They had various weapons.

"Talen, if you may?" Leliana asked.

"I got it." Talen said, immediately putting a barrier around us. The dwarves yelled as they came toward us. Talen conjured up fire and had it whirled around us just as they got close enough. They screamed as they were burning before Talen stopped the fire and then conjured spikes of ice. Those killed them and Leliana started to fish through their belongings as well as I.

There was a pouch that wasn't entirely destroyed and I found a small finger bone with something carved into it.

"This has to be it." I nodded.

"Good, then can we go back so I can wipe this grime off my face?" Talen started using the robes to wipe at it. Leliana and I laughed but we got out of there in record time. The robes were delivered back and we managed to get back to the Grey Warden building using the alleyways to evade the fanatics.

I was walking to my room to get ready when I saw Derek holding hands with a dwarven woman. She looked a little on the older side but they were speaking in hushed tones. For some reason, I hide myself behind a shelf. I couldn't hear what they were speaking but I've never seen Derek look so…soft. His hard edges seemed to melt away when he was with her. It made me fidget with my own wedding ring. They put their foreheads together and I looked away then. It was a private moment and I didn't feel comfortable watching it. The thing is I had to talk to Derek about finding the bone. I took in a breath and came out of my hiding place.

"Derek, we got the info we needed for the hideout." I said. The woman stood back before Derek patted her. She bowed to me and went off.

"Well, looks like I'll be meeting some old friends. How do we get in?" Derek came up to me. I showed him the bone.

"The door changes but Nadezda, a dwarf from there, showed us the door this time around." I said. Derek nodded.

"Nadezda huh? Yeah she was Jarvia's team mate before. I'm surprised she told you that considering she and her go way back." Derek pocketed the bone.

"Well I'm sure she's really mad at her considering that, now that Jarvia is the leader and she was her partner, she allowed her new partner, Leske, to disable her." I said which caused Derek to give me the harshest glare I've ever received from him.

"Leske, he's her right hand man now?" Derek almost growled. I fidgeted in my spot.

"Yeah…you know him?" I wondered and Derek sighed, losing that harshness.

"He and I were partners for years. It was all professional, mostly. You can't kill a man in front of someone unless you were a little close. I saved that bastards life…though I can't blame him. He never had the balls to get out of it." Derek rubbed his face.

"You sure you'll be ok doing this Derek? Wasn't the Carta your life back in the day?" I wondered.

"The Carta is nothing but a bunch of sods, bastards, and assholes put together. The shit beneath the stone. Every other decade they get put down, only for them to rise up again. There would be no tears if they all die. The only thing I am grateful for is that they gave me a job to support my sister and my mother. Now my sister is going to be with Bhelen and my mother is gone. I'm a Grey Warden now. Like I told that spirit in the mountain, I'm going to change this. I'm going to make this city better with or without a king." Derek walked to the dining room. "Missy, I hope your project goes well. My people might be riding on it."

No pressure of course.

We gathered everyone in there. Derek had been working on a map of the Carta hideout. It was bigger than the map in game. There were various dead ends, traps we'd have to look out for and probably more.

"Jarvia is a paranoid son of a bitch." Derek stood up from the map. "Always has been. Things have changed since 3 years ago but I still remember the layout. If what Missy and the others telling me are true, they're using one of the central entrances. We go in and we'll be able to follow it all the way to the base of operations. It's still going to be hard to get there. We'll be fighting all of the Carta which is 100 strong on a good day."

"What are we going to go up against?" Eren wondered.

"Lots of traps, poisons and the like. Probably a few trained bronto and Deepstalkers. The Carta don't have nice armor. Those that do are the few leaders and stuff. Mostly it's leathers that are falling apart. The thing is these are veterans like us and they're used to fighting groups. We need to stay together if we're going to win. No one goes alone. There are too many areas where they can gang up on you. Here's what I suggest, warriors in the front, then warriors in the back. Rogues support from the shadows and mages in the middle. Keep in mind there could be friendly fire so try to keep your spells to single types instead of casting your net too wide, I'm talking about you priss." Derek looked at Talen and he rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah I got it." Talen pouted.

"And we are allowed any form to subdue our enemies?" Zevran wondered.

"I'm saying so long as it doesn't hit anyone else, go crazy." Derek chuckled.

"Then let's get on with it. I tire of seeing dwarves cower before me. If I wanted to be a statue, I would have stayed in that wretched village." Shale made her stone hand into a fist.

"I agree. We have what we need. Let us storm their base, now." Sten nodded.

"Right, you heard the big guy. Strap on your armor, get your weapons in order, get to drinking or whatever, let's get this over with." Derek said. We all agreed and went to our rooms. I put on my black clothes underneath and put on my armor. It felt good to have it on. As much as I was forgetting the old times outside, it was comforting to have it on. I checked my daggers sharpness, put in the potions in my pack, made sure I had bandages, the works.

We're going to fighting against people, not darkspawn. The pit in my stomach dropped as I tightened everything. I didn't like it even if it was necessary. I'm not like Zevran who sees assassination as an art form or Leliana who loves to play the game. A life is always a life and that debt must be paid. So I'll gather these marbles of regret and guilt for myself and the ones I killed. It's the only thing I can do so far.

"You ready?" Zevran leaned against the door.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I said, putting on my game face.

"You look pale." Zevran took my face in his hands.

"I'm not like you Zevran but that doesn't mean I'm not going to stop. We have to do this to get a King and to get soldiers. That's the end goal so we can fight against darkspawn." I said before he pulled on my cheeks. "Ow!"

"Must you be so serious all the time? Stop frowning so much, you'll get wrinkles." Zevran laughed as I rubbed my cheeks.

"I'm 26 and I've been good so far so hah!" I stuck my tongue out. Zevran laughed as he put his arm over my shoulder. It did make my heart feel a little lighter though. Everyone was at the door.

Shale, Sten, and Alfred stood apart. Eren, Alistair, and Derek were talking strategies. Wynne and Talen were talking with Jowan, telling him to not focus on spells and to please not focus on blood magic. Morrigan was leaning against the wall watching everyone. Leliana tapped me on the shoulder and smiled at me. Talen was right behind her with his staff in hand.

"Everyone is here, let's go." Derek raised up his hammer. We went out of the base and started for Dustown. The only ones that were taking this as if it was a stroll was Morrigan, Zevran, and Derek. They kept giving out snide remarks here and there while everyone else had their serious face on. The only problem was that since we were all traveling in such a large group, the fanatics found us a few times. They were only 5 strong every time we found them. Eren, Alistair, Derek, and Sten took care of them usually.

We reached the cul-de-sac and most of the casteless ran away when they saw us. We were met by the guards around the gate but we made short work of them. Derek placed the bone in the slot of the door and it opened easy. Derek signaled us to wait as he went in with Sten and Alfred. I tapped on my foot when I heard the doorman ask for the password. Of course Derek didn't say much besides to suck on the end of his hammer.

I'm guessing that was the signal as we rushed in. Five against our whole group. We all rushed them and one even tried running but Leliana got him with a few arrows. Really it was Shale that made it easy as she took two by their heads and kept on smashing them against each other until they were mush. The fact that she was laughing as she was stomping on their remains made it really dark…and weirdly funny.

We went past the gates and started to go through the tunnels. Derek was the one leading all of us since he knew all these corridors the best. From behind a large pile of barrels, came some arrows. Alistair and Eren held up their shields. Shale and Sten were in the back. The enemies weren't moving though, they just kept on knocking more arrows.

"Oil barrels." Derek spat on the ground. "Priss!"

"On it." Talen conjured some flames and threw it at them. The barrels exploded really well.

"Idiots." Morrigan shook her head. We walked through the door that led down a long corridor lit up by glowstones.

"There's going to be about six doors all around this hall. Each one has shipments of various goods. We're going to split up in two even groups, open the doors, and kill the ones inside. The most these rooms can fit was about 15 people. Keep up, don't get killed." Derek explained in a whisper.

Sten, Shale, and Derek came with Jowan, Zevran, Talen, and I. Eren, Alfred, Alistair, Leliana, Morrigan, and Wynne went to the other door that was across from us. Derek whistled which was a signal to have us open the doors simultaneously. There were 10 dwarves right inside. Shale went in at first which made the dwarves all scatter in fear. Zevran went out first with Sten. Jowan held back with me. Talen made sure to put out protective barriers.

Derek was right when he said most of them didn't have good armor. I sidestepped a dwarf before stabbing him into the neck. I also stabbed him right in the stomach. The leather didn't stop anything. In fact, a lot of their armor were mostly patches. Jowan used his mace to bludgeon a dwarf on his head. Zevran did his multiple stabs over and over before Shale stomped over and bashed his guys head in.

"Excuse me, but this was mine." Zevran gave a hint of annoyance.

"You were taking too long." Shale 'cracked' her knuckles.

"Ha! A golem after my own heart!" Derek laughed. We got out while I saw the other group come out as well. There were another two doors and we went in all the same. Shale ran in and set off an explosion trap which took out about half of that group. In the end, the rest of us stood back as Shale was laughing and enjoying herself.

"Tch, she's having all the fun." Zevran said.

"She is a one man army." Sten nodded. I sense some admiration for Shale.

"Should we really be standing around while she's doing this? What if she alerts the others?" Jowan wondered. Speak of the devil, when we turned around there were dwarves coming up to our position. Talen summoned ice and sent off a barrage of ice shards. Some got through and Sten literally threw one over the rest. Zevran chuckled as he went off and had a duel blade battle with another. I was caught off guard from a bowman but Jowan put up a successful barrier around me.

Talen went forward and did another round of ice shards that got rid of the other dwarves. Shale came out with her crystals all bloody. She scoffed before purposely stomping on the bodies of the dwarves.

"Not bad." I lightly punched Jowan on the arm.

"Oh thank you." Jowan chuckled lightly before Talen hit him on the head with his staff.

"Don't get any ideas." Talen mumbled. We met the rest of the group and went further down the hallway. The last two doors didn't have any dwarves just more shipments from the outside.

"We cleared out the first batch. Time to keep going." Derek said. We went through the door at the end, followed another long curving hallway, exploded a few more traps, before encountering another shipment of boxes.

"Would there be something valuable in these?" Morrigan wondered, looking at a chest that was full of jewelry.

"Everything here is valuable. Silks, furs, leathers, jewels. We even have a few runes lying around I'm sure." Derek said. As we got through the boxes, we found a carved out hallway with a mage at the end. She wasted no time in sending us a fireball. Talen and Wynne made a combined barrier for our group. A few mercenaries came forward, specifically Qunari mercenaries.

"I thought you said that they were all going to be dwarves!" Alistair shouted as his sword held up one Qunari.

"We usually wouldn't bring outsiders into the hideout! It must be another one of Jarvia's changes!" Derek smashed a qunari in the leg before having to avoid an earth fist.

"You think!?" Talen sent off magic but the other two qunaris backed up.

"I have to wonder how you puny things won without me." Shale came up and wrestled the two qunari. I helped Derek with the other qunari while Morrigan changed into her bear form and headed for the mage at the end. I heard her shriek in pain. Another explosion rocked the hall and caused some of the ceiling to cave in.

"Morrigan!" Eren shouted while pushing his sword through the head of a mercenary. Wynne came forward and lifted all the rubble from the ground. She put all of it together, formed it into a giant fist and squashed the last of the mercenaries. Morrigan was on the ground and Eren ran to her. Morrigan got up with his help, a large gash on the side of her stomach. I saw that there was a trap she didn't see, blades that came from the wall.

"I was not careful." Morrigan grunted in pain.

"Hold still." Talen came forward with his healing hands and taking a poultice from his pack.

"You'll be ok Morrigan." Eren put his hand on her shoulder. She gave him a small smile. Talen poured the poultice over her closed wound.

"That should heal but it's going to take a minute. You'll need to be in the back and not strain yourself." Talen got up.

"Pity." Morrigan chuckled while Eren helped her up.

"Don't worry, we're nearly there." Derek nodded. We went through the cavern with minor surprises. We went through another door and it looked to be an armory and prison. We killed the four guards there quickly and went through another long hallway.

"I'm surprised we are not meeting much resistance." Zevran commented.

"That's because she made everyone go back. We're nearing the center. Just to let you guys know, that place is full of traps and I'm sure she'll have a small legion waiting for us too. Considering we met some mercenaries, they'll have mages too. Try not to get killed." Derek grabbed his hammer.

We stood in front of the large door. Derek opened the door. Just like he said, there was a small legion waiting for us. The bowmen raised their weapons but Jarvia held up her hand.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the runaway. Have you come to finish the job?" Jarvia sniggered. Leske was right next to her. Derek walked forward.

"Leske. I guess all those years are worth nothing right?" Derek said.

"What was I supposed to do? You left and you think I could make a decent living? Don't forget how things worked around here. Jarvia had this thing up and running and I didn't have your opportunity." Leske scoffed.

"You should have come with me." Derek took his hammer into his hands.

"Nothing we can do now." Leske took out his daggers. Derek gave out a roar before the arrows were let loose. The barrier protected us but it was every man for himself as we got into a huge brawl. Shale stomped towards four dwarves, Sten sliced two at once, Eren and Alistair teamed up against a mage. Talen let out a fireball at the ones in the back. Wynne was using the rubble to her advantage and Leliana was rapid firing arrows. I saw Alfred take down a dwarf by the neck. Morrigan kept herself near Wynne and Talen, shooting off arcane bolts. Jowan was with them but in a fight against two dwarves, his armor taking a beating. Zevran stabbed someone in the eyes. I was circling two around me.

Then I felt my foot slip into a trap. It closed around my leg and they both went for me. I sucker punched one before defending from the other. Alfred came and killed the one that kept on fighting me. I put my daggers away and got my leg from the trap. My armor unfortunately wasn't able to protect my leg too much. The pain sucked but Alfred came right next to me.

"Good boy, I'll remember to give you a lot of scraps." I mentioned and he barked.

Three more came toward us. I grabbed one of their arms and punched at their elbow, dislocating it, twisting him and pushing him into his friend's dagger. Alfred was busy with another one. I took out my dagger and did a powerful right hook at the last dwarf. He wrenched his dagger from his friends but I grabbed him by the collar and threw him into a few traps I saw. All four of them clenched onto his body. He screamed in pain before an explosion nearly threw me off my feet. My ears were ringing but I couldn't focus on that as two more came toward me.

I side stepped away from them, sunk my dagger into the lower back, took it out quickly and stabbed upward into a chin of another. I felt an arrow dig into my shoulder. As he was loading up the crossbow, I ran toward him. He wanted to run before an arrow from Leliana shot right into his foot. He screamed as I ran my dagger into his mouth.

Another explosion further away from me and I saw Derek fight against Jarvia. I surveyed my surroundings and noticed that Jarvia had only four more men around. One was heading toward the armory. He was fishing through a chest as I came up behind him, grabbed him from his hair and slit his throat. I saw what he was reaching for. Qunari grenades.

"Holy shit." I breathed as shouts of battle kept going on behind him. The man had stones in his hand, some to light it up. I pushed down on the grenade and the wick came out. I got the flint and snapped them hurriedly. It lit up and started to burn fast. I grabbed it and ran back into the fight.

Jarvia was down to two men surrounding her with my group closing in. Jarvia was right in between some barrels. It was a perfect shot.

"Fire in the hole!" I screamed, throwing it. I probably should have shouted something better but it got the message across. As soon as that thing landed, it detonated all the oil barrels. The sound was deafening and I'm pretty sure I have hearing loss now.

After the smoke cleared and the rubble stopped falling, everything had grown naturally silent. I got up and limped toward the others.

"Nia!" Eren shouted, stomping over at me. "That was extremely dangerous! What was going through your mind?" Eren paced in front of me.

"It got the job done Boss!" Derek laughed getting up but nearly falling down.

"Everyone, if you would please." Wynne panted.

"Don't worry about healing them." Talen wiped off some blood from his face. It was a head wound, not too bad it looked like it though. "Just pass around the potions and get those papers in the chest."

"Right." Derek said, walking before stopping at a corpse. It was Leske. He knelt down and closed his old partner's eyes before going into Jarvia's personal room.

"Can I just say I simply love the little squishy ones politics?" Shale chuckled darkly.

Well, it was more than a year but here's the update as promised. The updates will be coming up bi-weekly on Thurs, even though today is a Weds.

I am incredibly surprised at all the reviews, favs, follows that I got during the year hiatus. Considering that there are SO MANY NAMES, I unfortunately can't list all of them. I want to say that I am very moved by everyone's support for this story and I'm sorry for waiting for so long. I will complete this now that I spent that year to fully resolve the story. The DA:I side is of course still being worked on if only because I can't figure out an Inquisitor but I know that I can figure it out once I get there lol

I wouldn't have made it this far without any of you. I appreciate all the new and old readers out there. Let's finish this 3
