Fifteen: Trips and Bombs

Los Angeles, Ca

"You really are planning to a trip in outer space." Howard told Steve.

"Superman, believes that I should go with them." Steve told him; he still couldn't believe that he had been asked about this. He also knew that Toni was not exactly happy about the potential new trip.

"Antonia is not happy." Howard told Steve.

"I know, she is worried that I will not be coming back." Steve told him.

"Well, you have to come back." Howard said and this was not just him saying that, Steve needed to return.

"I know." Steve said, part of him knew that he did because he had a family now, it wasn't like before. "I'm not sure about going, but I know that if I don't, we might have other attacks coming."

"Bring some tech to make Antonia forgive you." Howard told him causing Steve to laugh.

"You and I both know it would be for both of you."

A Few Days Later

Toni and Steve were standing together as his backpack was ready to go, they both didn't want to leave.

"Okay, well as your daughter is being moody at the moment." Toni said with tears welling up. Steve knew exactly what she meant as Penny had hidden under her bed and refused to come out as she knew that Steve had to leave.

"I'm going to try to be safe." Steve told her.

"Promise?" Toni asked.

"I promised." Steve told her, he pulled her close and kissed her, Toni surrendered to the kiss. They didn't see the little girl, who had come out of hiding and she ran launching herself at her Father's legs. Steve pulled away and looked down to see his little girl.

"I'll be back." Steve told Penny cleaning her tears. "I promise."

Wayne Manor

Clark and Brianna were not having that easy time telling their only child bye for a while.

"Clark, we need to go." Brianna said, but she was holding onto Rachel.

"We will be back hopefully really quickly." Clark tells Martha.

"Rachell will be taken care of and you two are to come back safe." Martha told them, raising her hands so they could give her Rachel. Clark and Brianna kissed her in the forehead and gave her to Martha. Rachel waved at them as they got into the beta-tube.

"They'll be back before we know it." Martha told Rachel.

"I know grandma." Rachel said.

A Few Weeks Later: Los Angeles, Ca

"You want me to go to Afghanistan?" Toni asked Obadiah, Howard was in the office with them.

"I could go to Afghanistan." Howard said.

"Howard, I don't want to sound rude my friend." Obadiah said. "We are two old geezers, Toni on the other hand is healthy enough to go and present to the arm forces, her friend Rhodey will be there as well."

"I guess, I can go but Penny…"

"I can take care of her and it's the summer." Howard said.

"Alright, I'll go."

"Now, are you sure both and Steve and you are alright because I haven't seen him." Obadiah said.

"Yes, we are fine, he is helping Clark in one of his research, so they had to go to Africa." Toni said. Even with Steve being Captain America, they had really downplayed that part of his life. So, the excuse had been Clark was doing research in Africa about a mysterious source of metals that people were stealing. Brianna was under the cover that she was on the same trip and had caught some disease and it stop her from getting home.

"I guess, and you told me he wants able to contact you correct?"

"Yes, Obadiah, we told you Steve and Clark had to be very radios silence and because Steve is more physically attributed, he could help Clark who is about challenge when it comes to physical activities." Howard replied for Toni.

"I just want to be sure that he is treating you correctly, we don't want another problem."

"We would but Steve and I have been married for almost for four years." Toni told him.

"He is still not from this time; he could get tired. I am just trying to say." Obadiah told her moving his shoulders.

"Yes, well he will be back soon, and I will be in Afghanistan." Toni told him, but part of her had this weird gut feeling about not going without Steve. It wasn't that she didn't trust the other soldiers considering Rhodey would be with her, but her gut was worrying her. It was close to the same feeling that she had when Richard had come.

A Few Weeks Later: Gotham City

Toni was standing with Penny in her arms, as she didn't want to leave and go to another country.

"We will keep Penny safe." Martha told her.

"I know Aunt Martha; I am just worried like always." Toni said. She kissed Penny's forehead and put her down.

"You be good for your grandparents." Toni said.

"Okay Mummy." Penny said with a smile but crying as well. Howard grabbed her should and pulled her forward.

"You be careful out there." Howard said.

"I will, I will be back sooner than Steve will actually get here." Toni said with a smile, they had gotten some information that the Justice League was coming back soon to Earth.

2 Months Later

Howard did not want to be the bearer of bad news; Steve was coming back, and he would have to tell him the news. He had not wanted to be the welcoming party, but Martha was still in babysitting duty and guard duty with the attack that had happened in Wayne Manor in a few weeks ago. Also, the world seemed to be going a bit crazy with the big green monster taking down Harlem, which he called bullshit on the attacks since he knew that those were going to be rare and the green beast had no choice.

As he saw the ship finally land in the island, he looked around hoping that everything would be fine. He also knew that he needs to get someone to help.

"Howard!" he looked up to see Steve arriving and his suit was torn in some pieces.

"Steve!" Howard said, Steve noticed that Howard was disheveled as he had been long hours in a binge, and he was worried about something.

"Is something the matter?" he asked

"Toni…" Howard said getting straight to the point. He didn't notice that Batwoman and Superman were behind him, Brianna was getting the entire information from the news and computer as she had begun to look for any issues and the first two things popped up.

"Where is Toni and who attacked the Manor?" Batwoman asked.

"I don't know…I've been searching I can't locate her." Howard said.

"Where is Toni?" Steve asked. Clark was serious and he began to pay attention to the world to try an get Toni's heartbeat.

Batwoman and Howard got Steve filled in while Clark concentrated in finding Toni, Steve was shown the video of the kidnapping. He was not happy and knew that he would have to stay behind if Clark found her.

"I got her heartbeat, but it's odd." Clark said.

"What do mean odd?" Steve asked.

"I can't say, get Penny and I think I can have her here." Clark said.

"We should get going." Batwoman said and got into the javelin to get to Gotham as soon as she could.

Afghanistan: Un-disclose Location

Toni was walking the dessert as she was finally able to get out of the cave and she didn't know what time it was? She just knew that she survived something that should have killed her. The only thing in her mind was to get to safety. As she looked around, she saw a red cape.

"I have to be imagining you." She said, but the red cape seemed to be getting closer and closer to her. "Really! If I'm dying, I want to see my Steve not Brianna's husband." She went to her knees and the person landed.

"Toni." Clark said all he saw was Toni rolling her eyes behind her head and her fainting. He grabbed her before she could hit the sand and held her in her arms.

"You had everyone worried and people are not going to be happy." Clark whispered at her.

Steve was waiting for news and he held his daughter tight to him, knowing that she was worried as much for her Mother as he was. His mind kept going through scenarios and Obadiah had not been helping, he kept bringing up that he had been gone and being in Africa was not a good way to get the news. The fact that they mentioned that he was Wakanda to do a report.

"Ignore him, Steve." Brianna said holding her own daughter.

"It's not like he is wrong." Steve told her. Brianna sighed and waited for Clark hoping that he was able to find Toni. Brianna moved to the side when she heard her com turning on.

"He found her." Brianna told Steve.

'Is she alive." This was the answer that Steve cared for the most that his wife was alive.

"Yes, but she is injured." Brianna said. "Clark doesn't want to tell me, how bad I will tell Alfred to get the infirmary ready as he says that they tried going to military base but Toni refuse, she wanted to be brought home."

"Okay." Steve said.

"The news outlets have found out that Toni is alive." Howard said with a smile, he didn't even notice that he had tears in his eyes of relief that his daughter was alive.

Alfred was able to look over Toni, who seemed to trust him to make sure that she was healthy. Howard was there as well so that he could see the accident that had happened to Toni and see that the reactor was safe.

"Wow, you were able to recreate the reactor and make it smaller than the one I have, this is excellent, but I think it could be bettered by you." Howard told her. He then didn't care, and hugged Toni closed.

"I thought that I lost you." Howard told her.

"I'm fine, Dad, I really want Steve and Penny with me at the moment." Toni told him.

"He's waiting outside like the anxious mother hen, he is." Howard told her. The moment the door opened Steve rushed with Penny, he sat down and grabbed her face kissing her deeply.
