I toss my suitcase into the back of the car and hop in the driver's seat. I've never driven a car like this before. I smile and step on the gas, the car revs to life. I make my way up the winded roads, speeding up as I reach the interstate. I decide to head to the city and take in the night life.
As I approach the city limits, lights are on everywhere and people are out and about. I pull up to one of the 18 and over pubs and find a good parking spot. Checking the mirror, I give myself a once over before heading inside. I pull my phone from my back pocket as the ring tone sounds, Edward. I ignore it and shove it back into my jeans. I hand the door man my ID, and find an empty spot at the bar.
"Tonic water please, on the rocks," I order and begin people watching.
Nobody here has a care in the world. I love it. I sit to myself and nod along to the music.
The bartender brings over my drink, "one vodka tonic."
He quickly turns and heads away for the next in line. I raise my brow, lifting the glass thinking, "only asked for a water but what the hell? One won't hurt."
I feel the slight vibration from my phone and pull it from my pocket once more. I roll my eyes ignoring Emmett's flashy grin on the screen. Taking a generous swig of my drink I nearly choke it back, damn it was strong! A text comes through from Emmett and I see I've missed 3 texts from Edward. I text Edward and just tell him we will talk later. I shrug and down the rest of my drink deciding to join the carefree spirits on the dance floor.
Sneaking a quick text in reply to Emmett, "can't talk, my worries are drifting away."
I silence my phone and slide to the middle of the crowd. Several people laughing, moving effortlessly to the music and I let myself melt right into the same mold. I feel a hand snake around my front, turning me full circle before the guy realizes I am not who he thought. He lifts his hands up in apology and I nod an okay in return.
I reach my corner spot at the bar and motion for the waiter who brings me an identical drink to what I already had. I attempt to grab his attention to exchange my drink but he's whisked away to the next customer. I bite my lip. Okay maybe two won't hurt. I decide to take this one slowly. I check my phone out of habit and notice yet again, missed texts, Edward concerned about his car.
I scoff to myself, "only the car huh?" I reply hastily.
Text from Emmett: "Where are you? What did you mean drifting away?"
I reply to him as well, "nowhere near you."
I down the remainder of that drink as well out of frustration. Another one seemingly appears from nowhere. Beginning the third drink, I notice the light, carefree feeling I now have and grin, "finally, I'm feeling a little less," I think to myself. I join back into the crowd for the cha-cha slide, stumbling a few of the steps and laughing at myself.
After the third drink I decide I have enough confidence to talk to Edward. I head toward the bathroom in attempt to hear a little better. He answers mid-first ring and I start in before he could say a word.
"Oh not even a full ring. Anxious are weeee?"
He is not amused, "Where are you?"
I giggle to myself, "WHAT?...I CAN BARELY HEAR YOU?"
He repeats himself louder, "TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE!"
I frown, pulling the phone away from my face to look at it and speak as if he were there, "DON'T YOU YELL AT ME MISTER,"
I laugh again as I hang up the phone. No sooner, Emmett is calling me. I answer the phone and lean against the wall in the most sultry voice I can manage
"Bella's phone?" I snort.
I can nearly hear him raising his brow over the phone,
"Bella's phone...Okay, and where is Bella?" He calmly asks.
Delighted he is playing along I bite my lip and giggle.
"Out having the time of her life, no men included."
He sighs and I lift my head from the wall,
"Are you drunk Bella?"
I gasp playfully, "Bella has to go now byeeee."
I turn my phone off and skip back into the main area. The place has practically turned into a rave. After a few songs of bouncing around I feel my head begin to spin, I check my pocket for the keys and decide it's time to leave.
I fumble around trying to pull the push-only door before one of the bouncers assists me, asking if I have a way home. I smile sheepishly and nod giving a thumbs up.
"I'm fine."
I turn the corner and run straight into Edward. I look up and laugh, beginning to apologize. As I realize who he is, I abruptly stop.
Brushing the hair from my face, "Can I help you?"
His mouth forms a straight, stern line, "did you plan on driving in this condition?"
I throw his keys at him, "I'll walk thank you, here's your precious car."
I stumbled through the next step and steady myself.
"Bella I was concerned for you, not the car," he sighs.
"Could've fooled me," I mutter.
Emmett's car comes racing to a stop right next to us.
I roll my eyes, "did you bring the whole brigade? Alice where are you? Come out nowww"
Emmett gets out of the car and they exchange uneasy glances. I stop and mumble,
"I think I'm gon-" is all I could manage before throwing up all over the sidewalk, Emmett catching me before I hit the ground.
