Super Smash Bros: The Glory of Custom Moves

Smash 4, Over?

Master Hand looked out at his office space, his giant fingers closed in a sort of half-fist. There were several chairs placed and set down on the velvet carpet stretched around the room, each one filled.

On the right, Toon Link, Villager, and Olimar were sitting in a sort of trio formation. A group of Pikmin, Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, White and Flying were poking a small blue bomb, its rope fuse lit and burning down fast. A Rock Pikmin sat with Olimar in his lap, much to Olimar's discomfort. Toon Link had his hands on his cheeks, swinging his stubby legs back and forth as he watched the creatures fiddle with it. Neither Toon Link nor Olimar really seemed to be concerned as they were either bored or interested.

As the fuse began to finally disappear and the bomb flashed red, all the Pikmin present except for one Red Pikmin fled, squirming and making small panicked squeaks and screams while the Red Pikmin planted its feet in the ground, holding its hands out as though it would deflect it. Before they could watch and see if the Red Pikmin was strong enough to contain the entire explosion…

Yoink!

Villager reached over, taking the bomb near instantaneously, and stuffed it in his shorts' pockets. Olimar marveled at the speed while Toon Link managed to take his eyes off the floor to look. Villager just smiled as there was a muffled explosion sound coming from his shorts pockets.

On the opposite side of the room, Kirby (and his Robobot Armor) sat in a chair. At least, they sat on the scattered parts of a chair, too small to accommodate the mech. Sitting in two other chairs next to them was the regular-sized Link, having a silent conversation with Robin about something. Robin had a green Wind tome in his right hand, pointing at the pages and discussing its applications excitably.

In the middle of all of them were the Inklings, perched on two chairs between the six other fighters present. The orange Inkling, Oceia, looked up at Master Hand expectantly, while the blue Inkling, Brine, he was asleep.

"Zzz," Brine added to the conversation.

Oceia jabbed him with the side of her elbow. "Dude! C'mon!"

"No, it's quite alright, Inkling default. Your alternate will need all the rest he needs for the next Smash circuit," Master Hand boomed in his ever-omniscient voice, "Which brings me to the first order of business. Orange, blue, get yourself ready for the next battle, because you're going to be the first newcomers-"

Master Hand rose from behind his desk, snapping his fingers. "TO SMASH ULTIMATE!"

The Inklings gasped, each one beaming with excitement.

"Also known as Smash Special depending on where you live," Master Hand clarified, forming a finger gun to point at the door, "Get outta here and get ready, you crazy kids!"

"Shell yeah!" The Inklings cried out, high-fiving each other.

The two hopped out of their seat. Brine yawned as they left, trailing behind Oceia as she bounded out of the office. Brine switched into a squid and hopped after her, albeit a bit sluggishly. The doors to the office shut behind them as soon as they left, and Master Hand descended back behind the desk as they closed.

"Now for the second order of business." Master Hand cleared his throat(?) "All of you, you're suspended from the premises! Get out!"

The six fighters still present in the office looked like they were all consecutively blasted with lightning. Even Villager, whose expression normally stayed a smile around the Smash scene, dropped into a shocked frown.

"Hold on!" Robin dropped his tome to the floor, shooting up out of his seat. "Master Hand, we're being replaced? All six of us?"

"No, no," Master Hand shook himself dismissively, "Far from it. You're all guaranteed to come back for this circuit. As a matter of fact, this circuit's going to be a sort of 'reunion'. Everyone's going to be there!"

"...Everyone?" Robin stared at the hand curiously.

"All the fighters before you, Robin!" Master Hand bellowed, pointing at Link and Toon Link, "These two are to be joined by Young Link, for one!"

Link and Toon Link perked up. They glanced at each other from across the room. Link's sky blue eyes and Toon Link's cat eyes both echoed confusion. A younger version? Did that mean that Toon Link had to wear the Champion Tunic and take off his hat too?

"Ah, right," Master Hand mused over the two, "Legend of Zelda timeline tomfoolery."

Something within Link's memories then burst forth, convincing Link that the Toon Link/himself cosplay was not the case. A familiar sight; a boy in green, with sharp blue eyes and several masks stowed away popped into his head. Link suddenly looked up at Master Hand earnestly.

"You remember now? Good!" Master Hand made a sort of nodding notion with his knuckles.

"Is that all?" Robin asked, "I hate to drag this out, but Lucina and Marth actually requested my presence-"

"Third order of business! LIIIIINK!" Master Hand announced, pointing directly at the taller, older version.

Link gulped, leaning back in his chair a little.

"The fans love the new look! We hope to see you again in the Ultimate circuit!" Master Hand declared.

Link shook his fists up, barely containing his excitement. With that, everyone else present just sort of shrugged and got up to stand.

"Fourth and FINAL order of business!" Master Hand interrupted, slapping the desk.

A crack formed in the wood. All of the fighters quickly shuffled back into their seats. Robin gave Link a congratulatory pat on the back as they both sat back down.

"Technically it was the second, but we went off on that tangent…" Master Hand mused, "This does follow-up the second… So I guess it is the fourth...yes, FOURTH AND FINAL ORDER. Your customs."

Everyone leaned in. Kirby's Robobot's headlights grew brighter, as though the machine were expressing its own excitement. The Rock Pikmin on Olimar's lap started hopping up and down happily, and so did the other Pikmin present. Villager and Toon Link took out their bowling ball and Skull Hammer, both of them holding them up in the air triumphantly.

Link and Robin both tried to pull out weapons, but they broke instantly as they were exposed to the air.

"Ah. Ha...forgot to replace that," Robin laughed sheepishly.

"Get rid of those, we aren't bringing those in Ultimate!" Master Hand decreed.

There was a prolonged silence. The doors to the office burst open, and in rolled in a tumbleweed. The silence was broken a few seconds later when suddenly, two yellow and black oval ears poked out from behind the doors, revealing a curious Pikachu, looking into the office. The Pikachu waved, its cheeks buzzing with energy.

"We're getting rid of customs?" Robin shot up from his chair again, standing indignantly. "Why? You've seen how much everyone has been having fun with them as of late!"

"We're not getting rid of all of them," Master Hand clarified, "The Miis are going to keep theirs."

Kirby started patting his Robobot armor, rubbing the metal biceps while saying "Poyo" apologetically. Toon Link, Villager, and Olimar all stowed away their weapons, whistling like nothing happened. Olimar specifically gave a specific, shrill whistle. The other Pikmin saluted him diligently, then all dogpiled on the Rock Pikmin as if to hid it.

"But why?" Robin asked.

Master Hand sighed. "With every new circuit, there's always new rules, conditions, and other bonus material we're allowed to utilize. For better or for worse, we've decided on removing customs for this circuit specifically."

The six fighters sit in their chairs, contemplating what Master Hand said. Pikachu's ears drooped as it wandered in, sitting by Robin, looking up at him with sad eyes.

Robin sighed, shaking his head. "This can't be...we were all experimenting and just figuring out what was working for us."

"Is this...really the end?"

"Why are you all still in my office? Get out." Master Hand stuck his thumb out toward the door.

One by one, all of the fighters filed out the door. Link, Toon Link, and Robin all glanced amongst themselves, silently conversing about the meeting. Kirby's Robobot carried him out the door, though the bot itself seemed crestfallen, dragging its arms as it walked. Pikachu hopped after it, "Pika!"ing encouragement.

Finally, as the doors closed behind them, Villager and Toon Link looked each other dead in their big old cartoon eyes. Toon Link sighed, shaking his head sadly. Villager, managing to smile again, just offered his pudgy, orb-like hand to Toon Link for a shake. Toon Link put on a small smile himself and reciprocated with a handshake.

The last two fighters then turned, walking their separate ways down the red carpet of the Smash halls, walking back home.

AN: Man, there's never an easy way to end this. Though mostly a way for me to blow off steam, this story really isn't relevant anymore. Ultimate's the new thing, Smash 4 is over. Plus, there's a lot of problems with the writing in this story that I feel makes it hard for people to pick up and read again if they wanted to.

Lot of fun writing, but I imagine it's not so much of a joy reading, especially now, hm?

Thanks Star-Filled-Dreams for that review you left...back in 2018. It was a fun idea, huh?

Thanks for reading, this was ThePizza-LovingTurtle's The Glory of Custom Moves. Have fun with DLC Pack #6 of Ultimate!
