Notes! You know I had stopped writing this because I can't write an action scene with a crap. I thought I had wrote myself into a corner and just stopped. I think I found a way around that now and with just two chapters left it's a miracle this is getting done lol.
I wanna know, is this readable to you? Too much happening in a chapter? Not enough? Let me know since I'm thinking of heavily editing this. Also there was only two chapters left counting this one so I'm finishing.
If you can tell me were I pulled the names Jesse Wheatly, Hailey Rogers, and Allen Baur from I will be very impressed since they're all shout out to other famous mermaid movies/tv shows that I actually know.
Evie looked up groggily from where she lay. She tried to move her hands above her head before she realized that she couldn't. She sat up straight to see Carly and David next to her. Then she realized that she and her friends were tied up. Why and by who she didn't know as she shook her head making sure she was awake.
"Carly!" she cried out seeing her friend. "David?"
"Evie," cried out Carly. The shouting seemed to have woken David up as he stirred and looked at them before realizing what happened. Evie looked over both to see if they were okay and looked fine. Whoever or rather, whatever took them didn't want them hurt. She tried to remember what would have gotten her there to begin with.
"Listen we have to get out of here," said David obviously tired. "The mermaids brought us here."
"What mermaids?" asked Evie getting straight and down to business. It couldn't have been any of the ones they knew.
"Shelly, Asia, and Aurora. They're crazy."
Evie's mind started whirling at this. She knew the name Aurora. She's the one that attacked Zac's mother. Aurora did a lot to mermaids around the world. She probably heard that Nerissa was back. Why would she want three land people out of the way? That didn't make any sense. Quickly she told Carly and David everything she knew about the older mermaid. David told them what little he knew about them. Surprisingly, the younger girls were her daughters. They were also going to release them later tonight or early tomorrow morning.
"Did they hurt you David?" asked Carly finally.
"Only my pride," he said biting at his seaweed binding. "They said that they wouldn't hurt us at all apart from actually kidnapping us." Both girls rolled their eyes at David's wounded pride. At least they knew that they wouldn't get hurt.
"If we get our hands untied we could probably get out of here," said Carly as she nodded in the direction of a nearby cave. Too bad none of them had tails to simply swim out. She was so thankful that Cam wasn't with them but in Canada. "I think I see a boat over there."
Evie swirled to see what her best friend was glancing at. It was a small boat that they must have used to bring David here. At least they could easily get out of the cavern they were in. And hopefully they could find the others soon enough.
"David reach for my back pocket. I think I have my pocket knife on my key ring. It's a tiny one but it could probably get us out."
Her friend had reached around before slowly sawing the old waterlogged rope from her hands. Then she had turned to do the same.
David, Evie, and Carly had managed to fix a beat-up boat. The one that had been used to bring them there. They were lucky that Carly was girl guide long past the usual drop out rate of nine years old. She wiped her blond hair away from her face while they rowed.
"This is the worst thing ever," moaned Carly and staring at her phone that didn't really work out where they were. "Those girls made it look like that we were busy for the last day or so."
David had filled them in on what exactly to happen. They all had been kidnapped to keep from helping their friends. Thankfully Evie knew that they weren't that far from the coast or Mako. Apparently, Asia and Shelly had took them around in circles making them think they were far.
"We'll get back at them," said Evie rowing over to Mako Island. It looked like a huge tropical storm was going to hit as the water grew choppier.
"How? These girls are willing to kill an entire race of people," said David.
"You know in Roman times those priestesses would wall up people for the fates to decide," said Carly leaving the other two to stare at her. "I'm not suggesting we do that of course, it's just that you lost your powers Evie. We could get their powers to go away and leave them on that island themselves."
"That's pretty diabolical Carly, Cam better watch out," said Evie slightly impressed and a little disturbed with the blond. "But no. I mean It's not like we can go to the normal police and have them locked up, but they could probably swim."
"We'll save that plan for later," said David coughing slightly. "Until then we can think of a different one."
So, they rowed trying to think of a good plan. There were other islands, so it was just a matter of finding Mako Island. A boat or two circulating that they had avoided being seen by.
Which didn't take so long judging from the weather starting to affect the area around them. The other boats avoiding going far like this. The water harder to row in, storm clouds, and then a slight rumble from beneath them. They had to go into the storm.
On the beach Evie could see tiny figures dancing around each other avoiding magic spells after magic spells. Not sure who they were she only hoped that nobody was truly hurt. With all her might she pushed the boat to the side and into the beach where neither party could see them.
Someone had deflected a spell making a bright light causing her to shield her eyes. No way was this going to happen before Evie looked around for a makeshift weapon.
"I found a rock," said David. "It's not that heavy but it's better than nothing."
"We can always kick sand," suggested Carly. "Or pretend that we're the police."
Evie shook her no at each suggestion. They needed something that would catch them off guard and keep them down, even just for a short time. Her eyes combed around the trees and such on Mako for something anything. Maybe someone had left something by accident on a camping trip.
Her brown eyes flitted toward a tree trunk. She supposed it was possible if they knocked it down it could pin them for a time. Carly caught her eye and nodded before she whispered the plan to David. They just had to have the right aim and good timing.
They watched the fight on the beach. It was Ondina, Mimmi, Weilan, and Nixie had all banned together. It was a four on two battle and their friends. Let's face it they were losing. Ondina was woozy on her legs and a gash on her cheek.
Weilan and Nixie were holding their own and Mimmi, well, she was trying but they were deflecting her spells with ease.
"Wow," muttered David.
"Now," said Evie. "Finish knocking down that tree Carly."
Carly had waved before kicking over the already loose tree. She had just enough nocks in it from her pocketknife.
The tree had fallen right where she wanted it. The two mermaids stuck and knocked to their feet underneath the weight. Only bad thing was that Weilan and Nixie went down with them.
"What the!?" shouted Mimmi and Ondina. They had peered at them while the three of them just waved.
"Crazy psychotic mermaids," said Carly raising an eyebrow at Asia and Shelly who were just knocked out from the tree and magic. The two girls fell back on the sand. Weilan, Mimmi, Nixie, and Ondina saw them stunned as they looked like they've been running through seaweed. Not exactly the prettiest sight as David spit out something left from his gag.
"That was brilliant," said Ondina as she saw her.
"You're welcome!" shouted David nodding at them.
"Where have you guys been?" asked Mimmi hugging each of them tightly. "We're really glad to have your help."
"Where have we been?" asked David. "We were tied up by seaweed and old rope from those two girls and Aurora. They're all nuts keeping us isolated in a cave a little up the coast."
"They posed as us on our phones to keep people from worrying," said Evie. "From what I've seen you were doing great. That's incredible."
"Well we did what we can. We aren't entire used to western pod powers and magic," said Weilan and looked down at them. "We should probably handle them somehow."
Her eyes widened and looked at her friends before pointing up to the volcano. They still had two problems, stopping the mermen from getting in the water and now them. How could this get any worse? Oh right, Rita and Veridia could possibly be dying. Oh, and Shelly and Asia are still out there. They couldn't bring themselves to try to kill the girls. They were the same age as they tried to think of a plan.
"The convention center!" cried out Mimmi as she thought of the other boys there. "The convention center! They're after mermen and the potion was in their water supply. We have to help them."
"Help us out first please," said Nixie and Weilan pinned under the tree.
With that they had helped them out and stared at Asia and Shelly. Oh great, just great, what were they going to do with them? Around them the weather was starting to cool off. The boat they had seen before started toward them with several stern looking men and women on board. It said Sea World on it.
"Mimmi!" cried Zac from the very front of them. "You won't believe this!"
It took at least two hours to get Veridia, Rita, and everyone on the boat. The boys at the convention center freed and back to their scheduled events of the day. Nobody had really known what happened at Mako Island. Until Ryan and Tanner came clean about everything. They had learned their lesson about keeping secrets from the council.
Finally, what felt like hours later their rather large group had gathered at Sea World. Why there? Well from what Carly could see there were certified doctors specifically trained to treat mermaids and mermen. Honestly it was kind of fascinating to see what they could do and all.
Veridia had been clean and given blood. She was still unconscious and badly injured not able to sit in on any meeting.
Rita sitting next to Nerissa. Zac's foster parents had joined in on the action also sitting at the table. On top of them was seven other people that nobody quite knew. There was enough people in the conference room for everyone to put in some part of their story.
"Before we continue this is the board of project merman," said the man at the head of the table. "I am Walter Page; my great great grandfather founded the Australian branch. We have Mitchell Ross, Cleo and Lewis McCartney, Jesse Wheatly, Hailey Rogers, and Allen Baur."
He gestured to each person in turn. The mermaids all looked to Rita and Nerissa to speak for them hoping that they had better control. Rita was staring at Doctor Ross a slightly stunned look on her face before smiling shyly at him.
"I'm Nerissa," she said piping up. "These are members of my Pod. Nixie, Lyla, Sirena, Ondina, Mimmi, Zac, and Weilan. Our companions are Evie, Carly and David."
She gestured to each of them in turn.
"We have quite a story to tell you," said Carly. "And I think I got it all if you don't mind me sharing."
Everyone was quiet not wanting to speak for themselves.
"I'll start," said Tanner. "Alright, so we come here to get punished. Erik for nearly killing Zac in the merman chamber. Ryan and Dean for causing that tsunami. Finally, me for getting in trouble for those glaciers in the north. We all had to set up for the convention by hand and cleaning out the tanks, without being seen. You know how hard that is in an aquarium by the way?"
"Anyway all of the girls are fighting and they go separate ways to meet these guys," said Carly.
Veridia, Dr. Ross, Rita, Cleo, and Lewis all looked at them. Lewis finished transcribing what happened in a notebook and paused the recorder. He adjusted what he was doing and gestured for one of the girls to start.
"While they were fighting Asia and Shelly and their mother had kidnapped me, David, and Evie," said Carly. "They had put a potion in your water supply to take away your powers and memories about being mermen. These guys fought them off and now we're here."
Everyone was silent before Lewis had cleared his throat and looked down at his notes.
"Alright, so after that scary incident all of you will be seeing a biologist for a checkup. At least the boys. Zac I'll have to get a parent's signature," said Lewis as he rounded up the four boys and passed a paper to his parents to sign. "We never checked natural mermaids. Rita do I have your permission to make sure they are alright?"
Rita thought that one over and then looked at the girls. There would no harm done in having Cleo or Lewis check them over. They have been doing experiments with mermen on land. Maybe this could be a good thing?
"Lewis I don't know if that's a good idea," warned Dr. Ross. "We never did any kind of tests on natural mermaids. Only half ones."
"Just make sure, they're alright," said Rita smiling. "Doctor Ross it appears we have much to discuss."
"It's a date," he said grinning at her. "Is there anything else anyone would like to discuss before moving on?"
"I have one thing," said Lewis. "The merman chamber is real right? Don't you see what this means Cleo? We can search for Excalibur!"
"Lewis!"
He put his arm around his wife while everyone let out a sigh. "I'm just joking. Seriously though I can't wait to try projects and experiments with you if that's alright."
He gestured to Mimmi and her friends. "If you're staying on land that is. We pay you to participate."
"How much?" asked Weilan interested.
"We'll discuss the pay but it is underneath the table. No taxes," he said shaking his head like it was the deal of a lifetime.
"I like the way you work," she said ready to help.
With that the topic was switched and preparing for what comes next.
