Hey ya'll long time no see! I've had a lot of life changes since I last updated this baby, but I've always thought about coming back to it to finish it. After reading through it again... boy is this a mess. Definitely not my best work, but hey it's a little older and I've grown over the years. I'm so passionate about The Mummy and writing fanfic for it, so I do have another in mind. In essence, it's kind of a rewrite, but it will have entirely new characters and additions. I'm sorry I'm not going to continue the story of these OCs after I finish up the last chapters of this like I intended, but I just don't think I can. I WILL finish this, but with the last chapter I will upload the chapter to my new fanfic. I've been developing it for a few years but I didn't want to write it and post it without finishing this, I owe it to you guys. Please enjoy!

Fallon swallowed the heavy lump in her throat as she tried to push the thoughts of Ardeth out of her mind and focused on running through the corridors with Kelly, Rick, and Jonathon. The twists and turns as they raced deeper into the city became increasingly tricky to navigate. They weren't completely sure where exactly to go.

"How do we know where we're supposed to go?!" Rick exclaimed.

"This city is endless. We'd be lucky if we find her in time at this point," Kelly replied as she rotated her body to fit through the narrow halls.

"He would have to take her to some sort of ritual room," Fallon said, trying to remember what she knew about tombs and temples from her years of education.

They came to a crossroads. Each pathway dark, Fallon couldn't gather her thoughts and knowledge together fast enough to focus on reading the hieroglyphs on the surrounding walls.

"Shit," Rick hissed under his breath.

"This is a nightmare," Kelly added, her heart beginning to wretch with anxiety.

Fallon could feel the panic rising in her body and mind. There wasn't any time for this!

Experiment…

That's what Ardeth had recommended they do back at the library. Her visionary powers were touch-based. Her vision earlier of Evy on a ritual slab…

If she could do that, she could find the way down to the ritual room.

Taking a deep breath, Fallon stepped forward, squeezing past Kelly and Rick. With another deep breath before Kelly could ask what she was doing, Fallon slammed her hands on the walls of the corridor and closed her eyes.

Work, work, please work…!

Bursts of firelight from ancient torches glowed behind her eyelids as she was led down more corridors following the path straight ahead of them, flying on invisible legs until it took her to a dead end. Her eyes flew open. Not that one.

She spun around and planted her hands on the walls of the corridor to their right, closing her eyes once more.

"Fallon, what the heck- "

"Please, just be quiet!" Fallon snapped. She didn't even know who had started speaking, but they snapped their mouth shut immediately, allowing Fallon to focus.

Just like before, she was flying down conspicuously lit corridors, and she desperately tried to remember the directions this vision took her until a short while later she found herself at the top of a set of wide stairs, broken and cracked with time. Flying down the stairs, she could see Evy lying on the stone ritual slab, chained, and Imhotep reading from the black Book of the Dead.

Fallon's eyes flew open. "It's this one!"

She ran head long into the hall without waiting for Rick, Kelly, and Jonathon, who all called after her. But when they realized they weren't going to get an answer from her, they just followed her into the darkness with their torches, letting her lead the way.

Fallon ran over in her head what she had tried to memorize from the vision all of the turns she had made. Left, then straight, then left again…

But it was as if her feet weren't her own and they made the turns for her, as if they instinctively knew where to go without her direction.

Then she could see the stairs.

"It's down here! Quick!" Fallon said.

They all rushed forward, Jonathon taking the lead as he clutched the golden Book of Amun-Ra.

They could see Evy and Imhotep, just as the High Priest had lifted a dagger over his head.

"We found it, Evy, we found it!" Jonathon yelled down to her, a big grin on his face, relief washing over him that they had found her as well.

The group had caught Imhotep's attention, and soon Fallon realized that he was looking between her and the Book of the Living. No matter what, she wouldn't let Imhotep get the book. Or her. That was a promise she intended to keep. For Ardeth.

Rick and Kelly have already headed down the stairs, guns cocked and ready to take on the priests who have broken formation from their ritual chanting.

There was no time to waste.

"Open the book, Jonathon!" Evy cried from below.

"We'll handle this, Evy!" Fallon called back. She grasped at the cover of the glimmering book, but it wouldn't budge. She had seen the carefully chiseled formation in the front of the book, but she hadn't fully realized how it was familiar. "We need the key, Evy!"

Imhotep had started his way up the stairs towards the, the look in his eyes murderous and cold.

"It's somewhere in his robes!" Evy cried.

Kelly and Rick had found their way towards the back of the ritual that Fallon had guided them to, and with stealth and avoiding the attention of Imhotep had snuck towards statues to grab. Rick brought his sword down onto one of the chains holding Evy to the stone slab and once her hand she tugged at the other.

Imhotep turned towards Rick and Kelly, and without a second thought, ordered his dusty, mummified priests to kill them. They clambered to their wobbly feet, stiff arms shriveled and hooked against their bodies. Kelly and Rick had their hands full, and soon Fallon and Jonathon would as well.

"We need to read the inscription on the cover," Fallon told Jonathon, turning to him. "There has to be something on here that can help control those things down there."

"You take it then," Jonathon said, shoving the book into her hands. "You know more than I do!"

"You've got to distract him then!"

They snapped their heads toward Imhotep who drew closer and closer with every second they wasted. Jonathon, panicking, snatched back the book. "On second thought, I think I can figure it out."

Before she could attempt to change his mind and convince why she should be the one to read the inscription, she saw Imhotep out of the corner of her eye. She shoved Jonathon and backed away.

Imhotep decided she was far more important than the Book of Amun-Ra in the hands of Jonathon, and for a second that frightened her. She hadn't had the chance to look at Imhotep in his fully resurrected form. When he had gained the last of what he needed for his physical form from the poor Americans, she had fallen out of the car and escaped into the sewers of Cairo. She wasn't sure what she had expected, perhaps not this. She suspected at least someone who was still part monster. But he looked human, like a regular man if not for his monstrous eyes.

Fallon couldn't spy a single hair on his golden skin. Tall and fit, he was indeed beautiful. But he radiated an energy of danger. And Fallon didn't need to be an oracle to know that the longer he lived the more destruction would reign.

She remembered she had the gun she had stuck into the waistline of her pants. She snatched it and released the safety. She knew this wouldn't stop him, but at least it would by her some time.

"Do it, Jonathon!" Fallon called to him as she lifted her gun. Jonathon nodded and backed away to a safe place.

With a shaking hand, Fallon squeezed the trigger before she had a chance to really aim, and the bullet flew past him. He didn't even wince. Damn it! Two bullets left.

She could hear Jonathon mutter through the inscription out loud, struggling to translate the hieroglyphs.

"Hurry!" Fallon cried. She decided it wasn't worth trying to waste her bullets when she could be running for her life. She spun around and bolted around pillars over the platform overlooking the ritual room, surrounded by standing slabs and statues.

"Un nuk uat (open me the way), metu neter Wadjet. Aq-a peru-a em ammu heru ter sebau (I go in and I come out from the flames the day of destroying the fiends). Nua amtu-k (I am thy advocate)." Imhotep spoke to Fallon. The translator in her head from her years of studying only brought her more dread as she understood him, and for once she wished she couldn't. "Aha er-a, behen-a ten (If you resist me, I will crush you)."

She caught sight of Kelly finishing off the last the last of Imhotep's mummified priests, and Rick slicing through the last chain keeping Evy bound to the slab.

"Ra-shi muru ra-shi kashka!" Jonathon belted.

Double doors within the ritual room burst open, and a line of a dozen mummified soldiers holding swords, scimitars, and spears filed out. Imhotep spun around once more, a smile forming on his face. The dark gaping holes where their eyes should have been only made them look more menacing, and did nothing to hide their intent of pure evil.

This had distracted Imhotep long enough for Fallon to run towards Jonathon. She assumed this wasn't what they all wanted when she told Jonathon to translate the inscriptions on the cover. Yanking the book out of his hands, Fallon searched frantically over the hieroglyphs to find the ones he had read.

"Idiot! These are supposed to be summoned after he has lost his mortality!" Fallon exclaimed.

"Well, how was I supposed to know?!" Jonathon defended himself.

"You can read it but you don't know what you're reading!" Frustration rose through her body. "We don't have time for things like this, it could get us killed!" She was nearly going cross-eyed trying to backtrack over the hieroglyphs he had read and trying to find a reverse spell or a way to control them.

"This just keeps getting better and better," Rick seethed, trying to find humor in the matter.

"What are you guys doing up there?!" Kelly called to them.

The soldiers inched closer to Kelly, Evy, and Rick, their weapons raised, as if waiting for commands. Evy was snatched from behind, making both her and Kelly shriek in fright as Anck-Su-Namun, spry and deadly, swung Imhotep's ritual dagger at Evy, Rick and Kelly barely had time to go after them before Imhotep finally gave the soldiers an order. Three leapt over the onyx pool of thick souls from the underworld, and Rick gave a war cry of masculine dominance.

The soldiers responded with bellowing, ground-shaking roars that made Kelly's heart stop.

"Uh-uh," Rick muttered, and he Kelly bolted in the other direction, their flight instincts taking over.

Anck-Su-Namun chased Evy through the chamber, slashing with the dagger.

"Hurry up, Fallon!" She cried.

"Come on, ol' girl!" Jonathon urged his cousin as she continued scanning the front of the book.

Imhotep had continued his pursuit of them. Fallon grabbed Jonathon's uninjured arm and began dragging him away from their spot, winding around the walls and obelisks to get away from him.

"This inscription should do it, we can control them this way," Fallon said, her voice breathy with relief.

Evy's cries echoed through the chamber and Jonathon strayed away from Fallon for a second to gauge her situation. Rushing back to Fallon's side, he jumped between his feet in anxious anticipation.

"Evy's in trouble, we need to target the rotting girlfriend and quick!"

Fallon mumbled the inscription under her breath, working through the translation out loud. "I-I can't remember this one!"

"What?!"

"I can't remember what this one is, Evy!" Fallon cried out to her. Her mind was drawing a blank with all of the commotion and fear.

"What does it look like?!" Evy called back out. Fallon heard a shriek and choking screams coming from her direction.

"A bird, no, a stork!" Fallon responded.

"A-a-ahmenophus!" She choked out.

"Yes! That's it!" Fallon beamed.

Kelly was out of breath from running all over the ritual chamber, fighting the mummy soldiers. Her body screamed for rest after the duress she had put it through the past several days.

She swung her sword and took off the arms of a soldier before it could strike her with its spear. A clawed rotting hand gripped her hair from behind and wrestled her to the ground as she screamed. She had dropped her sword and clattered away, dropping into a bog of underground, ancient water. She gripped the arms of the mummy with all of her strength, trying to prevent it from bringing its spear down on onto her face. She didn't know if she could hold him for much longer.

Rick tumbled down the stairs, more soldiers in pursuit, as his own sword flew out of his hand. To Kelly, this looked to be the end of it, unless something happened within the next second.

"Hootash im Ahmenophus!" Fallon said aloud.

The soldiers froze. And this made Imhotep, who was only a few paces from Fallon and Jonathon, turn. Kelly realized she didn't need to keep gripping the arms with all of her might.

Finally, the soldiers raised their weapons. The one on top of Kelly rose and joined the others as they stood in formation, seemingly ignoring the two fighters.

"I heet-yut set-na!" Imhotep commanded. He repeated the command, growing angrier with every word. But the soldiers would not budge.

Fallon took this to her advantage. "Miha, fakush Anck-Su-Namun!"

The soldiers began to march in a single line towards Evy and Anck-Su-Namun. Fallon heard Imhotep call her name rushing back towards the stairs, but he stopped when he heard her mangled screams as she was attacked, stabbed and sliced.

When he turned back towards Fallon and Jonathon, Fallon's stomach leapt and she swore her heart stopped. The look in his eyes was like nothing she had ever seen before, and it filled her with pure terror. In a few long strides he had Jonathon flying from a single strike of his arm. He was coming straight for her. Fallon backed straight into the wall behind her, dropping the book. She reached for her gun again. In a moment of panic, Fallon pulled the trigger, the bullet grazing his ribcage. He didn't even flinch. Shit! One bullet left.

She had barely blinked before she was lifted from her feet, the air constricting in her throat as he gripped her by the neck. Out of the corner of her eye she saw movement. Jonathon?

"Ma tu-te!" He growled as he squeezed. Her hands wrapped around his wrist. Her meek strength was nothing compared to his invincible power.

Rick came flying towards them, his sword swinging down onto Imhotep's arm, slicing it clean through.

While he looked whole and human on the outside, beneath his skin was still rotten flesh. He was still an empty void of a shell, soulless, but still fallible.

Fallon dropped to the ground. She shrieked as the arm attached to her neck dropped to her side. She scrambled to get away, and Rick helped her to her feet to get away from Imhotep.

Imhotep didn't seem fazed in the slightest as he turned to them. Rick shoved Fallon out of the way as Imhotep reached for them, grabbed Rick and tossed him backwards. Fallon retreated out of the general area. The High Priest reached down and took his arm, reattaching it like it was nothing before marching straight for Rick to continue doling out his punishment.

Jonathon scrambled back towards the Book of Amun-Ra and stood, holding up the key to open it.

"Fallon, Evy! I've got it!"

Evy joined Fallon and Jonathon as they held the book between them.

"Keep him busy!" Evy called to Rick as he was tossed against a pillar like a ragdoll.

The breath knocked out of him, Rick replied, "No problem!"

The key snapped open and they fitted it into the book with a few turns. Unlocked, Fallon opened the cover, and she and Evy scanned the hieroglyphs for the correct spell as Evy tossed the key over her shoulder. Shocked at Evy, Fallon dove for the key.

Rick was taking a beating, being thrown about by Imhotep. Kelly had found another sword and checked her bullets. Her legs were weak as she rushed towards everyone else. When the soldiers had gone to attack Anck-Su-Namun, Kelly nearly blacked out with relief as Rick had gone ahead and tried to save Fallon and Jonathon.

Imhotep had thrown Rick around so much they had ended back up on the ritual chamber floor. Fallon urged Jonathon and Evy towards the stairs to join them so they could keep an eye on Imhotep before he could completely kill Rick, if it escalated to that. Like a cat, Imhotep appeared to be playing with his food.

"I've got it!" Evy said. "Kad-ish mal, kad-ish mal, pa-ra-doos, pa-ra-doos!"

Imhotep was holding Rick by the throat so tightly, Rick was nearly turning blue. But Evy's incantation of the spells in the golden book caught his attention, and with fear in his eyes, he flicked his wrist and sent Rick flying once more. His gaze turned to the top of the stairs where a flurry of blue lights morphing into a vision of horses pulling an Egyptian carriage galloped towards him till they went through him. He screamed as his soul was torn out of him and was carried away and fluttered into nothing.

But his body remained. And when he turned towards the group as Rick joined them, holding his sword up, Imhotep looked ready to kill them all.

Fallon's legs shook and she feared she would fall to her knees. One hand clutched the key, the other clutched the six-shooter.

"I thought you said it was gonna kill him!" Rick snarled.

Kelly grasped Fallon's arm as Imhotep prowled towards them.

Only a few feet away from them, Rick held his sword out in front of him, ready to stab him.

But a gunshot rang through the chamber.

The additional Ancient Egyptian in here is from The Egyptian Book of The Dead (The Papyrus of Ani) transliterated and translated by E.A Wallis Budge. I do not own any of it, nor the world or characters in this fanfic except for my OCs. Some of the Egyptian I pieced together based on patterns I read and translated. The first one and last one below are ones I pieced together, they are likely not completely correct. The others are exact and from the book as written. Below are the basic/exact interpretations:

Un nuk uat: show me the way

Aq-a peru-a em ammu heru ter sebau: I go in and I come out from the flames the day of destroying the fiends

Nua amtu-k: I am thy advocate

Aha er-a, behen-a ten: If you resist me, I will crush you

I would like to thank the script I found online and YouTube clips for helping me write this whole chapter so I didn't have to keep replaying the scene in the film. Did y'all know that instead of the mummy soldiers that Jonathon summoned, it was supposed to be Anubis himself? Wild. Glad they changed it.

I would like to do a reader shout out:

SlayyTee

For pointing out how nosy Rick, Kelly, and Adam are throughout this fanfic. You're so right XD That's why this needs a rewrite. Thank you for your great comments and feedback.
