Jim and Pam had just kissed while everyone else was still in the warehouse for casino night. Roy was concerned because he hadn't seen Pam in about an hour. He decided to go looking for her. Roy knew that Pam spent a lot of time with Jim in the office and thought he might know where Pam was. After a quick scan of the room, Roy didn't see Jim either. Roy immediately became suspicious. "I thought Jim and Pam were just friends" he murmured to himself "I have to find them."
Roy started asking people from the office if they knew where pam was but didn't receive much help from them. Stanley's response was "Don't know, don't care," Phyllis responded with "Let me ask Bob Vance," and Michael responded with a joke. Roy got frustrated and went up to the office. Roy was fuming walking up the stairs to the office. He turned the corner unsure of what to expect.
As Roy walked through the door, he saw Jim clearly facing Pam. He walked up to Jim, grabbed him by the shoulder and turned him around. Jim was now facing Roy, and on his cheek was a red lipstick mark in the shape of Pam's lips. Jim touched his cheek and looked at the lipstick that transferred to his hand. Jim looked at Roy with fear in his eyes and said "Roy wait! It's not what you think." Roy cocked his arm back and was ready to swing on Jim.
Pam stepped in front of Jim and grabbed Roy's shoulders. She looked Roy in the eyes and said "No Roy it is exactly what you think. I have feelings for Jim that I didn't know about until now. I'm sorry, but we can't get married."
"But Pammy..." Roy said as tears filled his eyes.
"But nothing Roy. I'm sorry"
Roy looked at Pam, then at Jim, then back at Pam. He could see the sadness in Pam's eyes and the fear in Jim's. "I love you Pammy" he said as he left the room. Jim looked at Pam with confusion and said "But... I thought you said you said you couldn't do this. You said you were in love with Roy and that he's who you wanted to marry."
Pam looked at Jim with tears in her eyes and said "I thought he was, but when he came through that door and was about to hit you, my heart sank. I felt something I had never felt before."
"Pam what does this mean?"
"I love you Jim. I'm sorry it took me this long to notice and I'm sorry I almost didn't tell you."
Jim put his hand in his pocket and gripped the velvet covered box he had. Jim bought a wedding ring a few weeks after meeting Pam. When he found out she was engaged, he almost returned it, but decided to keep it in hopes of Pam one day loving him back. He pulled the box out, opened it, and got down on one knee. He looked at Pam and said "I know you and Roy just broke up and this seems crazy, but I love you Pam and I have since the day I met you. Will you marry me?"
Pam looked back at Jim unsure of what to say at first. She got on the floor with Jim, looked him in the eyes and gave him a kiss. When she kissed him, she felt the sadness leave her body and love take over. She smiled as she looked at him again and said "Does paper come from trees? Yes I'll marry you."
