Author's Note: Just going to say it is not easy going back to a story you were writing years ago. I'm trying to keep updating. The issue lies in trying to find my plot points and timeline from before, with that being said, I want to thank my followers and reviewers for being patient! It really means a lot :) Please feel free to PM any ideas or corrections that I may not see as I do not have a beta reader.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these series, if I did I would not need my student loans! Thank you.
Nico timidly waved back at her, trying to calm his breathing. He wondered how much she had seen, although she would most likely understand being a child of the big three. "Hey", he spoke quietly, "what's up?" He moved over to let her sit on his bed, the weight of the shadows having already started disappearing.
She smiled at him, tilting her head at the quiet tone. When she had first met him, he was a cheerful child following his sister in that annoying brother way. Nico reminded her of Annabeth before she got turned into a tree, she shook her head trying to escape her thoughts. Her 'little sister' was nothing like she used to be, and nor is Nico, but at least his situation could be made better. "Just wanted to check in on you...", she said with her eyes downcast with a small smile.
Nico's first reaction was anger at her checking up on him, his face gaining a rosy hue. Gathering his thoughts, he realized that she hadn't abandoned him like Percy and Annabeth...hadn't blamed him for Bianca's death. "I'm...", he sighed, "I'm doing better, Harry is helping by being here for me. In one day, I'm out of the Hermes cabin and not being tormented for once." He glanced up at her, giving a meaningful smile back at her. He didn't want to keep alienating people from him, so maybe this was a start?
Thalia looked up, brushing her hair behind her ear as she always had to do. Too short to tie back, too long to keep out of her eyes. "Tormented?", she frowned, not trying to focus on the negative, but just now knowing about him being bullied. She had been so busy trying to help Chiron get the camp in order, before she left to join the Hunters, she didn't even think that maybe she hadn't been a good friend lately. She had told Artemis that she would only join after the camp was settled, and had even missed a few dinners just to get a little alone time. "Harry? He's your brother, right? I saw his entrance briefly, I'm thankful he's trying to be there for you."
Nico nodded excitedly, "He's awesome!" He couldn't help the light that shone in his eyes talking about Harry, "You should meet him in person, he may seem rough around the edges, but he's been through a lot."
Giggling, she put an arm around him. This Harry didn't seem so bad if Nico liked him, she was just happy that he wasn't alone while the rest of them seemed so busy. "You know, maybe I'll run into him tomorrow", she playfully answered. "So, are you going to start classes with the campers again?" She tilted her head in question. She would love to have him learn how to better defend himself. Too many young demigods die due to not knowing how to properly use their gifts, especially those born to the Big Three.
Nico frowned, "I'm required to by Chiron and my father, so I begin lessons tomorrow morning. I'm hoping that they will go smoothly." He usually was troublesome as making his lessons, choosing to slip elsewhere instead. Lessons meant being with the other campers, but at least he wasn't the only one forced to go. He chuckled at the thought of Harry joining them as well. "Will you be in them as well, since you are now a hunter?"
She blinked, not realizing that her hunter status had been gossip already. She hadn't even taken her vows yet to join them, waiting till the camp was in order. "Um, well, I'll be teaching as an older camper. I'm...not yet a hunter." She tilted her head, thinking about her decision and how it would keep her from aging.
"So, you will be one of my teachers?!", Nico exclaimed, grinning.
Nodding, Thalia chuckled. "Yes, at some point, if you manage to get in to my level of using the spear." She looked out the entrance noticing that it was getting late, "I should be going though, don't need to keep you up before classes." Giving a soft smile, she rose off the bed, smoothing it out. "Night Nico, sweet dreams", she softly said her goodbye.
He nodded, trying to not yawn, "nighty night!"
As she headed out the entrance, she pushed her hair back, distracting her from what was in front of her. All she heard was a rough chuckle as she bumped into something solid. Looking up, she saw an older version of Nico with green eyes slightly towering over her. "I'm so sorry," she began, "I wasn't watching where I was going..."
