8: Kunoichi Neyla. Hai!

Chapter 8: Kunoichi Neyla

A week later after Sly's meeting with McSweeney he decided to take Neylas training up a notch. The lesson of the day was the Ninja Spire Jump. To accomplish this

Sly had awoken early in the morning and set up ten makeshift points in the back of the hideout to practice on. He was almost finished when Neyla appeared to see

what was going on.

"What's all this for Sly?" Neyla asked letting out a slight yawn.

"Today's lesson. But why don't you go get some breakfast first?" Sly asked. Neyla was curious on what Sly was planning but she took his advice and ate a light

breakfast then changed into her clothes before heading back outside. When she arrived everything was set up.

"What are we doing today Sly?" Neyla asked as she looked at the points.

"Today I am going to teach you one of my favorite techniques…" Sly started as he jumped towards one of the points then landed light as a feather.

"Rioichi Coopers Ninja Spire Jump." Sly finished.

"Amazing." Neyla said in awe. "How do I do that?" Neyla asked.

"The primary keys of this technique are focus, and balance. But most importantly you need to have a calm mind." Sly said. Neyla was a bit unsure about it as she

looked at how high the points were.

"Don't worry I'll be on the next point. If you lose your balance the points are close enough for me to catch you." Sly said. This seemed to work as Neyla nodded.

"Alright I'll give it a try." Neyla said. Sly nodded and jumped to the second point. Neyla took a deep breath, as she cleared her mind. When she was ready she jumped

just as Sly did before and landed on the point.

"I'm doing it." Neyla thought to herself.

"Nice work Neyla. Now try and jump onto the other points one at a time." Sly said as he moved to the next point. Neyla nodded then proceeded. Before long she had

jumped onto nine of the ten points.

"So far so good." Neyla said to herself.

"Just one more point Neyla." Sly said as he jumped down from the tenth point. Neyla nodded and prepared for her next jump. But as she was about to jump the point

she was on suddenly broke and caused her to lose her balance. The next thing she knew she was falling. She closed her eyes waiting for the impending crash landing.

But it never came. She opened her eyes to see Sly's brown eyes stare back at her.

"Told you I would catch you." Sly said. She looked down and sure enough she was laying in Slys arms. This made Neyla blush ever so slightly.

"I think that's enough practice for today."said Sly as he set Neyla down on her feet. Then Bentley came outside.

"Sly. I have something to show you." he said. Sly nodded as he headed to the door.

"Can I come as well?" Neyla asked. Bentley was ready to say "no" but Sly covered his mouth with his hand.

"Sure thing Neyla. We'll meet you inside." Sly said. Neyla nodded then headed inside. When she was out of earshot he uncovered Bentley's mouth.

"Seriously?" Bentley asked.

"Would it kill you to just give her a break?" Sly said. Bentley grumbled as he went inside. The trio met in the living room where Bentley had his digital projector set

up.

"What do you have for us today Bentley?" Sly asked.

"Well using the information provided to us by McSweeney I was able to get a satellite image of the island in question." Bentley said as he turned on his projector.

Then the wall was covered by a detailed schematic of what looked like a fortress rather than an island.

"Uh Bentley you sure you got the right spot?" Sly asked.

"I was unsure of it myself Sly until I found this." said Bentley as he moved to another slide. This one showed a picture of a giant door with a strange looking mark in

the center.

"Notice something here?" Bentley asked. Sly looked at it carefully then jumped when he realized what he was looking at.

"That mark looks like a Cooper cane." Sly said.

"Sly I believe this is the Cooper Vault McSweeney was talking about." Bentley said.

"But wait where did all this other stuff come from?" Sly asked referring to the schematic they saw earlier.

"Well I dug deeper and it turns out someone already lives there." Bentley said as he moved to another slide. This one showed a picture of a Mandrill in a lab coat with

an outlet on his head.

"Who's this?" Neyla asked.

"This is Dr. M." Bentley said.

"What does he have to do with this?" Sly asked.

"It appears he's after the vault too." Bentley replied.

"Then what's stopping us from going to the island and kicking him out?" Sly asked.

"Because we can't. The island is too well protected for the two…" Bentley started when Sly cleared his throat.

"Three of us." Bentley said reluctantly.

"Which means…" Sly started.

"We need help." Bentley said.

"Well what's our first target?" Sly asked.

"Along side his vast defenses Dr. M seems to be in possession of a very large army of guards." Bentley said. The minute he said that Sly knew where he was going

with the conversation.

"We need Murray back." Sly said.

"Precisely." Bentley said.

"But how do we do that if we don't know where he is?" Sly asked.

"I've done a little more research and I found out that he's been studying a form of meditation known as the Dreamtime under an Aboriginal guru. But I also found out

that he was sent on a journey across the world recently. So it could take me a while to find his location." Bentley said.

"Then take your time Bentley." Sly said. Bentley nodded. Then suddenly there was a knock at the door.

"Who could that be?" Neyla asked herself as she approached the door and opened it. When she opened it no one was there except for a large package addressed to

the Cooper Gang. She picked it up and took it inside and closed the door behind her.

"What is it Neyla?" Sly asked.

"I don't know but it's addressed to here." Neyla said handing the package to Sly. Using his cane he quickly cut through the tape that sealed the package. Once it was

unsealed he opened the box and in it was another box with a note on top.

"Thank you for choosing ThiefNet." the note said.

"This must be Neylas outfit." Sly said handing the box to Neyla.

"I was wondering when this was going to arrive." Neyla said as she took the outfit to her room to try it on. When she was out of earshot Bentley and Sly talked.

"You sure you want her on this job?" Bentley asked not too excited about the idea.

"Come on Bentley can't you give her one chance to prove she's changed?" Sly asked. Bentley grumbled and thought on Sly's words.

"Can you at least trust her for me?" Sly asked. Bentley continued with his thoughts then he answered.

"Alright Sly. I still don't trust her, but for your sake I'll give her a chance." Bentley said. Sly smiled as he hugged his friend.

"But if anything happens I'm holding you responsible." Bentley said sternly.

"Deal." Sly said.

Then he heard footsteps coming down the hall.

"So how do I look boys?" Neyla asked. When Sly saw her his jaw dropped.

Her outfit consisted of a navy blue sleeveless ninja vest that stopped right at her mid drift and was secured by a zipper in the front. Under the vest was a black long

sleeved shirt that just slightly hugged her sleek form showing her curves. She also wore a navy blue skirt with black leggings that like her shirt slightly hugged her

legs. Her feet were covered by a pair of dark blue boots. In addition she had tied the sash the Mink family had given her around her waist. Around her neck was the

dark blue hood that would hide her face from her enemies. In addition her arms were covered by a pair of navy blue armored gloves that went as far as her elbows.

and finally at her side was a neatly coiled whip.

"Are you alright Sly?" Neyla asked. Then when Sly realized he was staring he snapped back to reality.

"That's quite an outfit you got there Neyla." Sly said turning around to hide his blushing face. Bentley just rolled his eyes.

"Thank you Sly." Neyla said. Then before she went back to her room she went up to Sly and gave him a small peck on the cheek catching the raccoon off guard.

"W..W..What was that for?" Sly asked completely surprised.

"For saving me earlier." Neyla said as she returned to her room.

"What did she mean by that?" Bentley asked.

"I was teaching her the Ninja Spire Jump earlier and one of the points broke. When she fell I caught her." Sly said. Bentley just sighed.

"I really hope you know what you're doing." he said then left for his room to begin his search for Murray.

"I hope so too buddy." Sly said.
