What is up everybody? I'm back and ready to roll once more. This chapter takes place during my favorite mission in Venice: Turf War.
Disclaimer: Sadly I do not own Sly, Neyla, or any part of the series.
Chapter 12:Turf War!
After a brief rest the gang got ready for their next job: taking out Octavios Vincenetti guards. Bentley headed out to go find one of the goons while Sly and Neyla took
positions near the police station for phase two. Before long they saw one of the goons flying towards the station firing at someone.
"Nice work Bentley, looks like you managed to get one of the Vincenetti goons on your tail. You on your way to the police station for the old bait and switch?" Sly
asked.
"Yeah… he's… following me… Too close for comfort…. gotta move!" Bentley said as he rolled his chair as fast as possible to the center of the area. Then Sly and Neyla
jumped down to the police station entrance.
"Now for phase two." Neyla said. Sly nodded as he knocked on the door then spoke.
"Hey! All you fake cops go-a home, we don't need no more stupid thugs in Venice!" Sly said in his Italian accent. Once more Neyla had to hold down her laughter.
Then the two made a run for a nearby alley way where Bentley joined them. Then moments later one of the mercenaries came out of the police station weapon in
hand and spotted the flying guard.
"I might not be a real cop, But I've got feelings pal. And you just hurt'em." the mercenary said in a very miffed tone. The guard noticed this and just mocked the
mercenary below him.
"You talkin' to me, fruitcake? Cause I don't need a date." the guard said mockingly. This set off the mercenary.
"Eat missile, punk!" the mercenary said as he began firing off shots at the guard, who returned fire in response. All the while the gang just sat back and enjoyed the
show.
"This was a good plan Bentley. Now we just sit back and watch the fireworks!" Sly said. Bentley smiled in response.
"Thank you, I pride myself on deviousness these days." Bentley said.
"Um… not to burst your bubble, but it looks like that mercenary isn't going to be able to beat that guard on his own." Neyla said.
"I know. But with her Ape Guard under fire, there's a ninety-three percent chance, that Carmelita will enter the fight, and deal with the entire Vincenetti gang."
Bentley said.
"That is devious!" Neyla said. Then they watched as the battle raged on, as if right on cue, Carmelita, with a small squad of her mercenaries, exited the station and
rushed to her guards aid.
"Inspector Fox! I'm glad to see you! This Vincenetti puke is giving me all I can handle." the guard said.
"Stand your ground soldier, we'll take him together!" Carmelita said as she readied her shock pistol. Then the tide had turned as she opened fire on the airborne
goon. Meanwhile in another part of town, a certain tigress had seen the battle from a distance and began to head out to investigate. Soon Carmelita had shot down
two of the goons near the police station.
"Inspector Fox! I am pinned down in sector four! I need back up!" one of the mercenaries said to her.
"On my way!" she said as she headed out to go assist her guard. Soon she arrived and this time they were armed with explosives. But this did little to help them as
she shot them down.
"These Vincenetti guards are everywhere! I'm not going to last long without some additional firepower!" said another mercenary. Carmelita then made her way to his
position near Octavio's opera house. Then just as before two more guards fell before Carmelitas wrath.
"Keep this area secure! I'm heading back to the police station to take out the rest of them!" Carmelita said to the mercenary before she left.
"Yes ma'am!" The guard said. He was so busy he never noticed the black knives flying toward him, pinning him to the wall.
"What is this?!" the guard wondered frantically.
"Hello there." said a voice. The guard turned and saw a dark clad figure in front of him.
"Who are you?" The guard asked. The figure responded by moving in close and drawing another knife.
"Never mind that. Where is Inspector Fox?" the figure demanded.
"Why should I tell you?" the guard asked. Her response was putting the knife up to his throat.
"Don't make me ask twice." she said. The guard couldn't see her eyes past the dark goggles she wore, but he knew she wasn't kidding.
"She's back at the police station." the guard said. Then before he could react the knives were removed and she had vanished. Back at the police station, Carmelita
and her mercenaries were up against a huge number of Vincenetti goons. Just as they shot one down another took it's place. But thanks to Carmelitas sharp shooting
the gang was shot down.
"Report!" Carmelita radioed to all her guards.
"All sectors have been stabilized. No further Vincenetti presence has been detected." the guard said.
"Great work men. For mercenaries, you fought with honor and distinction. I'm proud of you." she said as she prepared to re enter the station.
"Looks like this job is done." Bentley said as the gang was about to head on their way. Then Bentley, who had been monitoring the mercenaries radio messages
stopped in his tracks.
"Inspector!" radioed a guard.
"What is it?" she asked.
"There's a hostile heading your way!" said the guard.
"What are you talking about?" she asked. She was so busy talking with the guard, she almost didn't notice the black projectile aimed for her head.
"Whoa!" she said as she dodged it and spotted it's thrower up on a nearby roof.
"Still bringing criminals down the hard way I see." the figure said as she jumped off the roof top and landed her feet on the ground.
"You alright Bentley?" Sly asked.
"One of the mercenaries said there was a hostile heading for Carmelita. But she took out all the Vincenetti goons, so there shouldn't be a hostile!" Bentley said truly
upset.
"Look both of you head back to the safe house. I'll stay and investigate." Neyla said. Bentley was about to make a remark but Sly stopped him in mid sentence.
"Just be careful. The tone of the guard sounded really spooked." Sly said. Neyla nodded then headed to another rooftop to investigate the scene. Once there she saw
the hostile was a figure clad in black. She was talking to Inspector Fox.
"Do I know you?" Carmelita asked. The figure responded by throwing two more knives at Carmelita. She dodged one, but the other managed to leave a cut on her
arm.
"Beat me and I will tell you." the figure said. Carmelita smiles and quickly drew her pistol and fired at her assailant. But to her amazement the shock didn't faze her
one bit.
"Not bad. Now it's my turn." said the assailant as she drew the whip she had at her side. Then immediately she began to swing towards Carmelita. She dodged her
first attempts but eventually her ankle became ensnared by her attackers whip. Then before she could react, jolts of electricity began to course through her body.
Carmelita bared her teeth not wanting to give her attacker the pleasure of hearing her scream. Once she was finished, Carmelita collapsed to the ground.
"Had enough?" the assailant asked.
"Who are you?" Carmelita demanded.
"Still drawing a blank huh Carmelita?" she asked as she lifted up Carmelitas weakened body and then pinned her to a nearby wall using four of her knives.
"Well I suppose I can let you see my face before you die." the tigress said as she removed her goggles to reveal her emerald eyes. Carmelita was shocked to see the
face of her old nemesis.
"Neyla?!" she said as she struggled to get loose from the knives and knock her old enemy into next week, but to no avail.
"Took you long enough. Now I wonder how Sly will feel when I send him a rug made up of his favorite police woman?" the evil tigress said as she put her goggles
back on, drew another knife and prepared to slit Carmelitas throat. But then suddenly the knife was knocked out of her hands by a whip.
"What in the blazes?" the tigress said shocked. She turned around and saw the navy clad Neyla, whip in hand, and her hood up hiding her face.
"Step away from the fox." Neyla said deepening her voice to disguise it.
"You have a bodyguard Carmelita? I'm surprised." the tigress said mockingly.
"She's not with me. She's a friend of Coopers." Carmelita responded.
"Is that right? Well then, I'll tell you what. If you beat me I'll let this law wretch live. But if I win, I'll be sending Cooper two rugs." the tigress said as she readied her
knives. Neyla responded by drawing her sword. Then the sparks flew once again as the two engaged in combat. While her opponent threw knives at her, Neyla
blocked them with her sword. This went on for twenty minutes until it was clear they were in stalemate.
"You know what I'm getting bored. So I think I'll let old Ironsides live for now. But don't expect me to be so generous next time." the tigress said as she turned around and
left. Then Neyla sheathed her sword and went to help Carmelita off the wall.
"Thank you." Carmelita said weakly.
"No problem." she replied.
"This is normally the part where I would arrest you, but I do owe you one. But next time we meet it's on." Carmelita said.
"Deal." Neyla said as the pair went their separate ways. Back at the hideout Bentley was working on the plans for the big heist when Neyla arrived.
"Neyla you're back! How did it turn out?" Bentley asked. Then Neyla told Bentley everything that had happened.
"I see. Well we better keep a sharp eye out for this assassin. I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see her." Bentley said. Then he told Neyla to head to her
room to take a rest. She didn't argue and headed to her room. When she got there, on her bed was a lone blue flower with a card next to it. She took the card and
read it.
"Meet me on the roof of the hideout at 9:00 tonight. I've got a surprise for you."
Signed
Sly
Neyla smiled as she read it, but she wondered what the raccoon was up to. She got in an hours rest before Bentley called for her and Sly. He was ready to tell the
instructions for the heist.
"Thank you both for joining me." Bentley started as he dimmed the lights, and started the slideshow.
"With Octavios recital beginning at 10:00 tomorrow, we're all set up for the main event: Operation: Tar-Be Gone!" Bentley started.
"Our main objective, get Murray back on the team. Sly you'll start things off by using your disguise to sneak into the opera house. Make your way to the pump room,
and let me and Neyla in through the side entrance. There I'll bomb and cripple the machinery." Bentley said. Then the slide changed to a picture of Octavio holding a
device in his left hand.
"Then we'll go for Octavios detonation switch. We cannot leave a weapon that powerful in the hands of this madman. So I'll distract him with an Opera duel." Bentley
said. Then he explained that while he was distracted, Sly and Neyla would cut the ropes to the stage chandelier, and drop it on Octavios head. Then the show ended.
"After he's out, I'll swipe the switch and we'll go find Murray. By then the black water should be running clear and he'll be free to come with us." Bentley said. Then he
dismissed the pair so he could get things ready. Neyla looked at the clock before she left.
"8:00, I better get ready." Neyla thought as she headed to her room to get ready for her meeting with Sly. She had switched from her thief outfit to her street
clothes, but did a little cross dressing by replacing the emerald green top, with the black top from her thief outfit. Then she headed up to the roof of the hideout to
wait for Sly. When the chosen time came, Sly was nowhere to be found.
"I guess he changed his mind." Neyla said to herself.
"Now what gave you that idea?" said a voice from behind. She turned and saw Sly.
"Nothing. Now what's this surprise you had for me?" Neyla asked as she stood up.
"If memory serves I believe I promised you a dance, and you look very lovely tonight." Sly said as he moved to the center of the roof. Neyla blushed at this and
joined him at the center.
"So which dance is it tonight?" Neyla asked.
"The time we danced it was the tango I believe." Sly said bringing Neyla closer, taking one of her hands in his own while placing the other around her waist. Neyla
followed suit and placed her arm along Sly's shoulder. Then the pair met nose to nose. Then they faced the direction of their clasped hands and the dance began.
It started out with a basic forward step, then it began to become more advanced as they added turns and kicks to the tango with the occasional dip. What added to
the beauty of their dance was the fact that they were dancing under a full moon. As they danced Neyla couldn't help but notice how handsome Sly was under the
moonlight. Likewise Sly noticed how beautiful Neyla was. Then before long the duo entered a series of turns, a side step, then ending into the finale with Sly
gracefully dipping Neyla.
"How was that?" Sly asked as he pulled Neyla back up till they were face to face.
"That was wonderful Sly." Neyla said. Then the two just stared at each other in the eye as if in a deep trance. Then without warning, Neyla wrapped her arms around
Sly, Closed her eyes and embraced the raccoon in a fiery kiss. Sly was taken off guard by this, but in seconds he returned the kiss with an equal fire. The two
remained in this state for four minutes until they broke away from each other. Then Neyla suddenly spaced herself from Sly.
" I'm sorry, I have no idea what came over me." Neyla said blushing a burning red. Sly was in shock, he did not expect for that to happen, but at the same time he
didn't want it to stop.
"It's alright Neyla. But why didn't you just say something?" Sly asked. This caught Neyla's attention.
"You mean you're not mad?" Neyla asked. Sly nodded
"If anything I kind of felt the same way about you." Sly replied. This caused Neyla to smile and embrace the raccoon in a hug.
"Sly Cooper I think I'm falling in love with you." Neyla whispered to Sly.
"That would make two of us Neyla." Sly whispered. Then the two embraced in another fiery kiss as the moon shined down on the two.
