Hi all,

It's been a while.

This is a bit rusty, so I will come and edit back later.

my tenses are a bit messed up- a few years ago I was uncomfortable af with writing in the present tense and now I just have this urge to write in the present tense. So head's up for that.

Enjoy!

Chapter 3

Nana couldn't choose between screaming and bashing her head against the wall, but since both would make her like a lunatic, she opted to do nothing. Smile and nod. Smile and nod. Just do that and nothing else and hopefully, she would make it out alive with her sanity intact.

The awkwardness between herself and Hibari was suffocating (it was only them in the restaurant) and Nana mentally made a note to scold Tsubaki. How on earth was it possible for her bright and loud friend to get entangled with a man so…stoic. Not to mention he was also wearing this horrendous white suit.

The world was truly a small place. Or maybe not. Hibari Yukio looked so very different to the skylark she vaguely remembered, sharp pointy grey eyes and jet-black hair.

This Hibari here had dark brown eyes, and light brown hair. There must be a lot of people in Japan with Hibari as their surnames.

Then this Hibari started to speak.

"Correct me if I'm wrong," he began, "You are Tachibana Nana, right? The woman who is currently the head of the family?"

Nana froze, holding her glass of water in an awkwardly painful position. She was going to kill someone if Hibari was an assassin. And here she thought she could actually relax and throw the memory of a traumatising date away.

Nana nodded. "Yes, I am."

She was going to slaughter her Intelligence department if Hibari does turn out to be an assassin/cop/spy and not just some minion.

Hibari gave her a smirk and Nana was inching to rip it off.

He slowly dragged out his gun from suit and Nana finally decided to fire each and every employee in her Intelligence department. Her brother would be upset if she had accidentally murdered his girlfriend.

God, she thought, Tsubaki could have been in my position.

"You are under arrest," he stated loudly, gun pointing straight at her face, "For the murders of the Kurosaki family."

A cop.

Nana leant back in her comfortable chair, one leg crossed over the other elegantly. She has been in this situation too many times to feel any fear at all because she knew how it would all play out.

"Namimori is under my territory," Nana began, a smirk slowly appearing on her face. "What makes you think you can brazenly arrest me when I have your boss in my pocket?"

She saw the visible anger on the man's face. "I could easily make you lose your job if I desired and if I wanted to go further I could put you on the blacklist."

The man slowly put down his gun. "Very well."

"Sit down, Hibari," she ordered with a smile. "We have much to talk about."

She wanted to know how he knew about the Kurosakis. She didn't actually do the deed- well actually, she did indirectly. They betrayed her and led one of her friends into his death and she paid them back in blood. Her people did a clean job- they always did. So for Hibari to know of her connection to it, meant that there was a rat.

But before he could even speak, a shot was heard and she dodged as she felt the bullet soar past her cheek.

Then another shot was heard and blood bloomed on the corner of Hibari's white suit (that is why you don't wear on white on days other than your wedding day, she tutted) and the man looked just about as surprised as her.

"What happened?"

"You got shot," Nana answered as she shot up to find the attacker according to the direction Hibari was shot. "Shot twice by the way."

She tossed Hibari a napkin. "Use it to stem the bleeding and call for the police."

"Where are you going?" he asked her tiredly as he held a napkin to his bloody shoulder.

"To find the shooter!" she said loudly, not looking back.

She ran into the kitchen, only to find the bodies of the cooking staff on the floor. Nana quickly knelt down to one person and searched for a heartbeat. She could have ignored them, but she wanted to know who exactly was the target: the entire restaurant or Hibari and her?

Alive. He was alive.

With that information known, Nana stole a knife and ran out of the kitchen into the dark alleyway. It was ten in the night and not many would be out in alleyways, knowing how unsafe they were in Namimori. So, she knew that if she found anyone alive or dead, there was a high chance it would be the attacker.

The alleyway was dimly lit and Nana gave herself a reminder to tell Izumo, the Mayor, to update the lights. Her eyes surveyed the narrow alleyway and they double on a suited man climbing up a ladder. Her heels clacked against the flagstones sharply as she ran towards the ladder.

I should invest in some new heels, she thought as pain latched onto her ankles.

Hints of moonlight on the roof of a restaurant that was probably a rival to Yuri's helped her look for her shooter.

"You should stop running," she called out into the cold winter night. "I don't give up."

"Neither do I."

Nana smiled and threw her knife in the direction the voice came from.

A yelp was heard. What an idiot, she thought.

She used her ears to chase after the man, who somehow sounded familiar (and kinda sexy the appreciative part of her said).

And because it was a cold winter night and she was wearing heels, one moment she was about to slip off and the next, strong, warm arms were around her waist and Nana has her hands gripped on her shooter's shoulders like a lifeline. Her eyes searched for anything on the masked shooter; anything that would help her identify him. Her brown eyes met sharp green eyes and deja vu hit her. (hmm, I could stand here for ages, she mused tiredly)

And because she hated the sensation of deja vu, she ripped the mask off his face in one motion, before he could stop her.

What.

"Sawada?"

Hope you all have a nice day and please review and constructive criticism is welcomed.

Also, please do let me know what could happen in the future- it may help my muse and I would love to know.
