"Not the mole thing again ."

"Listen, Superboy isn't the only one suffering from bad DNA."

And so M'gann is a white martian, Artemis has villain family, Superboy was on Kryptonian drugs and Wally-

"Okay, so who's next?"

Robin gave Wally a pointed look

"I guess that leaves me. I'm next."

"You? But you were never even considered a mole?"

Wally's hand rubbed reflexively at his neck.

"Ah, y-yeah of course not. Mine's…can I borrow this?" Wally asked motioning for Artemis to step aside. He typed quickly, heaving in a sharp breath as he gave a cursory look around the room. Green eyes met the whites of Robin's mask. A small nod and the slightest twitch of his left eye all but whispered, "I've got your back." Though to anyone else it'd be imperceptible at best.

Flinging his head dramatically to the side, Wally pressed the enter key revealing a holographic display of a figure clad in an entirely black speedsuit with a single, red lightning bolt traveling down the middle of the cowl revealing a mohawk of familiar bright red hair.

"Ah, I might be in hotter water than most." Wally muttered, arms spread in gameshow finesse, "Everybody, meet my alter ego's alter ego! Dispatch."

Artemis was incredulous. "You're an active villain?"

"I prefer thief, thanks, but uh… y-yeah."

"Is that allowed?" Zatanna didn't exactly stage whisper.

"Wally? How could you-" M'gann was cut off by Kaldur's calm baritone, "I am sure Wally is willing to explain in the same manner as everyone else."

Wally sent him a grateful look before dropping his gaze to the floor. With a nervous shuffle and several high speed fidgets blurring his extremities, Wally rocked back on his heels in contemplation.

His averted eyes locked back onto Robin's mask, never faltering as he breathed out, "Okay, so I sort of live with Flash's Rogue gallery."

Their silence implied confusion. Wally's speedster mind must have kicked into relative time. Frozen were the faces of his teammates. Confused and bewildered. Unmoving and, oh no , unforgiving and- In fact, Wally thought he was so deep into relative time that instead of slow motion the entire world might be frozen on their disappointment until Robin stepped beside him.

"I've known Wally for five years. He's one of the four founding partners of the Justice League. He's my best friend and he's our teammate ."

"And apparently theirs , a well!"

Wally lunged forward, " Hey! You do not get to insult my family-" Robin pushed Wally back with a well placed hand on his chest.

Artemis, however, stood her ground with a scoff.

"Whatever." Wally huffed turning away from Robin's touch, "I thought you of all people would understand."

Artemis shifted. Grey eyes widening in realization.

"You're right. I… I'm sorry."

The room was strained with the silence.

"It's like I said. Artemis, you aren't your family. And neither is Wally. It's…"

Wally straightened, chest puffing out.

He'll stand his ground.

"What Rob's trying to say is that it's complicated. And detailed. And long-winded. But… I toe the line- I know. I know. But when I'm Kid Flash I'm whole-heartedly Kid Flash. The Rogues aren't… they aren't your average villains. Sure, they do bad stuff and they sort of hate my uncle but at the end of the day they're just a group of morally grey, reject teddy bears. Violent ones, sure. But… I love them. And I'm a part of that. You guys need to trust me."

Everyone was still frozen until, blessedly, M'gann floated forward with a quiet, "Well what about Flash? How does he feel about the..."

"The word active over this, honestly pretty flattering, mugshot?"

She nodded.

"He knows. He's always known. It's sort of a long story. My past is a little... rockier than you might have uh..."

"I think it's fine." Conner. Blunt and beautiful. "You're still a hero. And you're my friend. You showed me the moon. I trust you."

"So do I." M'gann.

"This team is wild, I'm down for it." Raquel.

And just like that, everyone was okay with it. Wally felt light-headed. Robin must have noticed because he slung an arm around his back in what was visibly a side-hug but what was actually his impression of a human crutch. Wally felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. With a happy sigh he rested his head against Robin's ivory locks.

The Light was still a problem. The world still turned in muddled shades of grey. But his team was there for him. And that held the greatest value.

A/N: I sort of wanna get your guys' vibe on this story I might write. It's heavily inspired by two fics "Rogue's Status" by DoctorMerlinReid and "Picking up the Pieces" by Kayzre ( both are so lovely I've read them twice ) so uhhh let me know if you hate it or like it or whatever. I know its ambiguous at best but its literally an excerpt so... Anyways! Let me know what you thought please!
