Draco stood in a stony weir, high above the black lake. He stared at it, at the Forbidden Forest beyond.

Before today, he'd sworn there was nothing in the universe to be feared as much as Pansy in high dudgeon. She could scream your ruddy ear off, and would find clever and suave ways to see you laid out on your arse. She particularly favored dancing - how she could get a gentleman to land on his arse, while not missing a step, was a lesson in panache.

Before today, Draco'd never seen Pansy shed a tear. He still hadn't, but her eyes had been red. "Why didn't you tell me?" she'd shrieked, and Draco'd froze. How could he tell her that he just wanted her to be happy? She certainly wasn't happy now!

Then Pansy straightened up, looked him dead in the eye. As quiet as frost in morning sun, she asked "Who is she, Draco? Who is she?"

Again, Draco had no answer. He didn't even dare look at his feet, because she'd take that as an admission of weakness.

"You'll pay for this," Pansy assured him, the mean glint in her eye assuring him that she already had plans.

Luna had been right.

"I thought I'd find you here," Luna said softly.

"You were right," Draco said, the words falling like sharpened knives.

"I know." Luna said, "I hate to see her world break."

"She didn't love me, still doesn't." Draco Malfoy countered.

"But she wanted to, and was trying - and you let her." Luna said, the last part sharply.

"I still can't tell her," Draco said sternly.

"Pity I can't say something to her, take her mind off you." Luna said.

"She's not allowed to date other guys, Luna," Draco drawled.

"Who said anything about dating?" Luna said with her sparkling silvery laugh, "Ain't no crime to look!"

Draco nodded, contemplatively, "Bet I could talk Millicent into taking the girls on a viewing expedition to the next Quiddich practice."

Luna smirked, "Make it the Gryffindor one. Flint could use a bit of jealousy, the arrogant arse."

Draco smiled, and nodded, knowing that Luna was right. Now he just needed to make it happen.

[a/n: Um. Okay, I didn't think we were going there. Up next: Draco manipulating the girls into ogling the Gryffindor Quiddich team. Yes really.

Leave a review! I promise I'm skipping time here, just a bit more slowly than previously supposed.]
