Luna was sitting in her accustomed seat, by the bay window in the stone alcove on the eighth floor of Hogwarts. Draco Malfoy was not sitting, he was fuming, and stomping, and in general displaying a fit of pique that in a lesser man would have been a tantrum.

This was just frustration.

Luna picked up her knitting needles, again, and started to knit a small green square, as Draco Malfoy went on and on.

She'd been expecting some anger, but this was quite a lot. It was a pity she couldn't distract Draco as easily as Harry Potter.

"I think you're making even the wrackspurts upset," Luna said suddenly, and Draco Malfoy halted, like someone'd cut his strings.

Draco Malfoy turned to her, abruptly, asking hastily, "What happens when they're upset?"

"Why, they find new people to nest in," Luna said.

"And what happens to those people?" Draco asked shakily.

"They grow more irritable, easier to anger." Luna said, "I think I hear a fight outside now." She smiled quietly, gently letting Draco Malfoy know that it was nothing special.

Draco went to the window, looking out, "That's seven stories down."

"And it's over whether one twin threw the Bludger too hard at the other." Luna looked up at Draco, and said quietly, "The twins never fight. Not like this."

Draco abruptly crumpled, sitting down on the floor like a child. "Is there something we can do?" he asked.

"Yes," Luna said, smiling brightly. "How many acorns do you have?"

Draco shook his head, "None at the moment. How many do you need?"

Luna was impressed at his tolerance, and willingness to cater to her other friends' whims. "That depends. Would you like to be the person to prank the twins?"

Draco Malfoy's smile was as sharp as it was keen, "Anytime."

"Then you'll need a dozen dozens, spaced into two groups." Luna looked down at the Quiddich pitch. "Take your time, they'll still be arguing by the time you return."

Draco Malfoy cocked his head, listening to them currently complaining about The Time Fred Stole George's Teddy, and nodded grimly. "I'll hurry nonetheless."

[a/n: This cracks me up. Draco's pissed at the tournament, at it involving people that weren't of age, at Hermione being in it.

For all that people have been saying, "Why doesn't he fall in love with Luna?" - psh. she tunes his rants out most of the time. And he likes a girl with fire in her veins.
