A bruise on Mkey's arm. Donnie could fix that, in fact he didn't really need to but he checked it anyway. Mikey's bruise was gone within 2 days and he was back to doing stupid stunts like trying to do triple backflips during training. Leo had a scratch on his face. He went to Donnie to prevent infection and Donnie almost found it laughable. Almost. But when Raph came home hand covering a gash deep in his stomach he refused to let Donnie touch it insisting it was 'Fine!'. The next day Donnie noted the absence of some disinfectant cream and a bandage. But Raph was fine so it was ok.
A splinter imbedded in Mikey's foot, Donnie could deal with that. He removed it and triple checked for infection. Mikey continued to carelessly fling himself around scrap yards, bouncing from on spot to the next. Leo came in later with a sprained wrist from a training injury, Donnie told him it needed rest, icing, compression and exercise before he could train again and Leo reluctantly agreed. But when Raph staggered in asking for bandages with his hands pressed tight over his stomach Donnie knew this was going to be a challenge. He managed to convince Raph to get stitches and quickly bandaged him up. Where was Raph going to get so hurt? Asking Raph turned out to be a bad idea as he growled and stormed off, imparting no useful information.
A small case of food poisoning from old pizza. Donnie had to question his brother's choices, but at the end of the day he had to accept that Mikey was Mikey and he would be fine. He could still wish though, Mikey really needed to be more careful. It was evident that Raph was getting more and more aggressive in training as Leo soon staggered in with a dislocated shoulder. Donnie sighed. He could pop it back in place, no sweat but Leo would have to refrain from using his arm for the next 6 weeks. In the end though Leo did as he was instructed and Donnie could breathe. Then Raph staggered in clutching his stomach in. the. exact. same. spot. and Donnie nearly collapsed from worry. Raph wouldn't say how, who, where, why but let Donnie sew him up. Donnie tried to focus. He couldn't afford to scare Raph off, if Raph didn't feel comfortable he might not let Donnie help him. And Donnie needed to help him.
Rash, cold, stab wound. Scratch, infection, stab wound. Graze, sprain, stab wound. Bruise, RSI, stab wound.
"Raph?"
"Yeah Donnie?"
"I can't fix a dead brother."
"…"
"Raph."
"…I'll take you guys with me next time."
