(SLY VOICE-OVER)

We didn't relax so much as we prepared. (A montage of Bentley oiling his wheelchair, Sly running through the hazard room, Carmelita taking apart her shock pistol, and Murray packing a suitcase of burritos goes by.) Penelope was kept under lock and key, but true to our words, we didn't turn her in.

Carmelita was keeping us from heading out. This job was in the present, and, as she pointed out, we were cops. Both of us. (Carmelita flings a uniform at Sly, catching him in the chest.) And we were doing this legally, if she had any say in the matter, which meant waiting until the eighteen or more warrants we'd need got completed.

When we finally got on the road, I got my first sign that things were worse than we thought. The Doctor had set up his base in the Krakarov Volcano. (All of Sly's fur stands on end.) Clockwerk's secret lair had new life, of a sort.

According to the director of Interpol, Carmelita and I are supposed to establish a base, evaluate the situation, and radio for help if we need it. (The van climbs up the mountain, only to go through obstacle after obstacle as it gets close to the top. Only Murray's driving skills get them up there as a montage of difficulties face them.) But when we got there, that... wasn't an option.

(As the rest of the gang sets up a safe-house, Sly uses his binoc-u-com to study the walls blocking their way.) Whatever's going on here, they have Penelope's computer chips. And we need to stop it, now.
