RIGHT AND LAW

Bentley's Slideshow

Bentley:

(pictures flash by: a high wall, towers peeking up behind it. Pictures taken from above, showing a tower between a moat and a wall. More pictures, showing some form of... small village? Office complex? Something, anyway, with lots of buildings around the volcano's mouth.) This is going to be a tough one, everyone. Much as it pains me to say it, all four of us are going to have to be in there at once, so we're going to need Penelope back here manning the coms station.

Penelope:

I won't let you down.

Bentley:

Only because you hate them more than us. So far, she's flown an old RC copter of mine around and took photos, (picture of that RC Helicopter—it appears to have a hook on it, between the front and back propellers, for hanging while on display) but we couldn't get over the main compound due to the force-field (picture) anchored in the ditch. While we're busy, she'll have access to all our communications and that helicopter, which we could tie things to and send back and forth. Got that, Penelope? It has no guns, no yank-86 or yank-any model, just a full tank of gas and the ability to carry a few hundred pounds. And if we fail up here, you're either going to jail (picture of Penelope behind bars) or getting trapped in their scheme again.

Penelope:

Don't worry, Bentley. I—I'll make it all up to you. Somehow.

Murray:

All right! What's the plan, Bentley?

Bentley:

Based on our pictures and on the intel I've gained from Penelope, we're going to split into four groups. The compound is protected in several ways, but most important to our purposes, the towers (picture), walls (picture), and ditches (picture) that kept appearing through time all returned to this location. Not to mention The Contessa's theater. (picture).

Sly:

Please tell me we don't have to go back there.

Bentley:

We do, but not right off. Now. The ditch is filled with water, as well as protected by a force field, and the controls for the bridge are inside. There are four sets of force field controls, located at the top of each of the four towers. (Pictures of the four towers go past.) An alarm will sound if they're not all turned off at the same time. There is a way through the wall, but it's guarded way too well for us to get through (picture of a one-lane road through the wall covered in spotlights, at least a dozen guards—all in police uniform—at high alert, a laser barrier, and a small minefield.) Sly, Carmelita, you two can climb the wall and go to the nearest two towers; Murray and I will go around, bomb the section destroyed in General Tsao's area, and hit the other two. (picture of the wall through the forest Bentley destroyed.)

Carmelita:

That sounds straightforward enough.

Bentley:

Good, because we'll have to go up the outsides. The insides are freshly booby-trapped after all our work there. (picture of electrified floors, walls, stairs, and ceilings).

Sly:

Great.

Bentley:

Once we've turned off the force-field, Murray and I will have to wait. Carmelita, you jump to the center and figure out what's going on there. It is absolutely crucial you stay out of sight, understand?

Carmelita:

I think I could figure that out for myself, shell boy.

Bentley:

Good. You need to locate The Contessa's building, then find the bridge controls and use them to let Murray and I into the main complex. (picture of the bridge from the chariot race in area 1). Once through, the three of us will make our way back to the theater. There's at least one computer there I didn't get a chance to hack. (picture of the computer in the orchestra pit.) I'd like to know what's on it, and I have no doubt I'll need someone to guard my back both to get there and hack into it.

Murray:

Back-guarding is what I do best! Don't worry, chum; just leave it to The Murray.

Bentley:

Why would I do anything else?

This Doctor seems to have prepared for almost anything, so that building's locked down tight. But if I did my math right, and I always do my math right, the secret tunnel Sly used to get in during our heist with Thaddeus will still lead straight to it. (picture of the tunnel, now filled with water). You're gonna have to swim for it, buddy, and I have no doubt there'll be some new security measures, but it'll be nothing like trying to get in the normal way.

Sly:

I'll get through it. And once I'm inside, I'll be able to let you in. (picture of Sly standing at a door.)

Bentley:
Exactly. With any luck, we'll gain enough information from this excursion to figure out who this mysterious 'Doctor' is, (picture of the shadowy figure Carmelita saw before losing consciousness earlier) and plan a full-on heist to take him down and destroy his operation once and for all. If not, we may have to do some more recon. If need be, we'll find a safe location inside the walls and relocate our safe-house there.
