The demon roared into Cap's face with enough fury that spit found its way all across Cap's face. He grimaced and clenched his teeth before thrusting his shield right into the creature's chest. As he pulled it out, there was black blood across the bottom half of the shield, and the demon fell lifelessly to the ground.
Another one of the demons tried to lung towards Cap, but he rolled out of the way. When the creature crashed onto the ground, Cap ran towards it and stomped on its face one time before bashing its head in with his shield. He looked over his shoulder to see one of the demons with wings, flying towards him. It tried to slash him in the face, but he raised his shield up and deflected it. The creature kneeled down, and Cap kicked it right in the head.
He could hear roaring and yelling all around him, as the superheroes battled Surtur's forces. He then saw five of the demons coming after him. Three of them were running while one was flying in the air, but they all snarled and growled.
Before Cap could figure out what to do, a gigantic green hammer came crashing onto the five demons, squishing them all. The super soldier looked up to see Alan Scott, who returned eye contact to Cap as he levitated down to the ground. Then a twelve-foot tall creature came running towards them, and Cap and Alan ran towards the creature in return, with Alan creating a firey anchor and swinging it into the air.
Jay Garrick, however, zoomed in circles around the demon, and it jeered its head back, roaring into the air. Then Jay zoomed near Cap and Alan before going back to the creature, jumping up in the air. The Crimson Comet phased his hand into the demon's chest, and its growling came to an abrupt stop.
Then another one of the winged creatures fell onto the ground, with Cap and Alan having to get out of its way. They saw Namor had his arms wrapped around the creature's neck, and it flailed its arms around in an attempt to break free. But then a snapping sound could be heard, and Namor left the dead creature be and ran up to the other surviving members of the Liberty Brigade.
"It feels like the old days," Alan said as he re-created the giant anchor that emitted from his ring moments before.
Namor nodded. "It truly does, Alan. I haven't had this much adrenaline since the war."
Then a bunch of Surtur's minions came towards the four former Brigadiers, and there were enough of them to encircle the superheroes.
When they got closer to the four, Alan swung his anchor around the area, and it smashed into all of them. But as their bodies plopped onto the ground, a second wave of creatures came charging and speeding towards the four. There were about a dozen and a half of them, and all of them let out deafening roars. Alan created several soldiers with his ring, and the constructed soldiers all fired towards the demons. Jay removed his helmet from his head and hit into it, creating energy waves that sent the creatures taking several steps aback. Namor flew up in the air and directed himself towards the monsters. He grabbed one by its horns and threw it against another. He punched a third one directly in the face, then clenched his hands together and pounded the creature with them, sending it towards the ground.
Cap bashed one of the minions with his shield, and when another one grabbed him by his shoulder, he breathed heavily for a moment. With split-second thinking, he karate-chopped it in the throat, and then he grabbed it by its shoulders and chest and threw it onto the ground. Cap grunted loudly as he bashed the creature's head in with his shield. Then, when he saw more demons running around, two green blasts destroyed both of them. Cap tilted his head back to see Hal and Kilowog.
Alan flew up towards them, and the three flew side-by-side, with Hal in the center. When a bunch of the winged creatures came towards them, they blasted at all of them with their power rings. Alan's construct was more firey than Hal and Kilowog's. Kilowog created some kind of alien gun and began blasting at the creatures. Hal created two boxing gloves and extended his arms out, which made the glove constructs strike several of the demons. And Alan created a large baseball bat that he swung against five of the creatures. When a demon came towards Cap, the super soldier kicked it in the chest. Then the creature yelled loudly as blood spilled from behind. When it fell, Cap saw Valkyrie and Sif were behind it, with Valkyrie's spear bloodied.
Sif threw her spear up in the air towards one of the demons, while Valkyrie thrusted hers into another demon's chest. Sif ran towards the dead creature she killed, pulled out her spear, and lunged it into another minion's stomach, while Valkyrie snarled as she did the same to another one of the creatures.
Cap ducked when one of the monsters came roaring towards him, but then Shazam flew towards it and grabbed the creature.
"SHAZAM!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, and a lightning bolt came down against the creature, frying it crisp burnt.
In the corner of his eye, Cap could see Namor and Aquaman to his left, standing back-to-back as several of the creatures charged towards them. Aquaman and Namor began stabbing and kicking at the demons.
"HULK SMASH!" Cap heard Hulk say, looking over to see the Hulk pounding one of the demons into the ground with his fist. In the same area, Cap also saw Carol in the distance, and she was project energy blasts towards many of the demons while flying up in the air.
Another twelve-foot tall demon ran towards the Hulk, but Cap watched as Cyclops fired his eye beams towards the creature, clenching his teeth as he did so. Then Changeling, who was right besides Cyclops, transformed into a raptor and sped towards the demon, biting into its neck. Cap kneed one of the demons in the chest and slammed his shield into its face. But then, he didn't feel the ground below his feet anymore. Everything in Cap's eyeline turned into a blur. It took Cap a moment, but when he looked up, he realized that one of Surtur's minions had grabbed him by his chest, and was now carrying him into the air.
Cap saw the likes of Thor, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Jean Grey, Robotman, and Mar-Vell in the air. They were slashing, blasting, and decking the winged forces of Surtur. None of them seemed to notice Cap as he was forced higher and higher into the air. Then the demon dropped Cap, and he rapidly descended onto the ground.
But it was only a few moments before he felt metallic arms breaking his fall. It was Iron Man, who brought Cap down to the ground. Cap could see Superman flying towards the demon that had grabbed hold of his teammate moments before, and the Man of Steel used his heat vision against it.
Iron Man was then slapped away by one of the massive demons, which knelt down to Cap's eye level and roared right in his face. Amongst the sea of roars and shouts, Cap felt the ground tumble. He saw what was causing it, but the demon did not seem to notice. A gigantic white boot stomped on the demon and crushed it. Elasti-Girl had grown to gargantuan size, and looked down at Cap with a smile. When some of the winged demons came towards her, she slapped them away. A hundred or so feet away, Hank had grown to the same size as Elasti-Girl, and grabbed a tree and threw it down towards some of Surtur's minions.
Cap only had a moment to lean down and breath heavily, before he saw Storm send down lightning towards several of the demons, only to be clawed in the back by one of the flying ones. She conjured up another lightning bolt and brought it down upon the creature, and it crashed a few feet near Cap. Cap bolted towards the demon, and when it tried to get up, he slammed his shield against it multiple times. It let out several snarls, but it was about a minute before they came to an abrupt stop.
Cap saw Solovar beat his chest before delivering an uppercut towards one of the demons, while Wolverine slashed at them with his claws and Elongated Man stretched his arms many feet long, wrapping his extended arms around a dozen of the creatures. When one of the monsters tried to claw Solovar's back, Beast lunged towards it and brought it down to the ground, while Negative Man generated waves of heat towards several of the demons, causing an explosion around them.
Barry and Quicksilver sped around many of the monsters, and while Cap was impaling his shield into the chest of one of the monsters, he could see the two speedsters stop in the tracks and create whirlwinds that sent several of the minions away. Wasp flew around in her small form, blasting at two of the demons that were near Cap. One of the monsters attacked the super soldier from behind, and Cap felt his face fall flat onto the grass below. He lost his grip on his shield as this happened.
He grunted and wheezed as the monster tried to keep its hold on him. Cap was able to elbow the creature in the face. And then he kicked it in the kneecap, uppercut it, and punched it in the stomach. He ran towards his shield, grabbed it quickly, and threw it towards the demon.
The demon yelled in agony, and then narrowed its eyes and roared towards Captain America.
Then a blast of purple fire struck the creature. It was the work of Zatanna. When the demon turned to look at her, she smirked before six more arms appeared from her torso. All eight of her hands emitted purple fire, and she shot the flames towards the monster, and as it consumed the demon, deep screams could be heard. Cap then saw Batman and Black Panther not too far from him. One of the demons raised its arm up and brought it down towards Black Panther. The king of Wakanda fell onto the ground. Batman threw four batarangs towards the demon, and all of them pierced its skin. Black Panther got up, and when he punted the demon, the kinetic energy was sent back towards the flaming minion.
As Cap ran around the battlefield, Mera and Shuri were the next two to catch his eye. He saw Mera creating water balls with her mind and shooting them out towards the demons that came after her. Shuri was using the powers granted to her by the Helmet of Fate to raise several massive rocks up in the air and send them all out towards those same creatures/
Scarlet Witch and Jade were both high up in the air. Scarlet Witch was blasting red energy all around. Then she snarled before making motions with her hands. Thirty demons around them had that red energy around them now, and it began choking the life out of them. Jade blasted her green energy towards many of the winged demons. Obsidian hit many of the creatures while in his shadow form, and Spider-Woman extended her arms out to shot her green venom blasts towards many of the demons. They were both close together, and Cap saw them as he continued to run around the area.
One of the winged demons tried to grab Cap in the air, like what had happened before, but this time, Cap saw it in the corner of his eye. He grunted, before he bashed the creature with his shield, sending it down to the ground.
"ENOUGH!"
The echoing and booming voice made Captain America, along with every superhero, soldier, and demon in the area, stop in their tracks. They all looked up to see Surtur, who sneered and snarled.
"I tire of seeing you all fail to bring down these heroes that stand in my way!" Surtur shouted, extending his arm and waving it around the area. "It appears that I must get involved myself. And it will not sadden me to slaughter so many opponents! Not in the least!"
Surtur raised his sword up into the sky, and then brought it down to the ground. Fire emitted all across the battlefield, and Cap looked around as many of the demons that had served Surtur began roaring as chunks of them specked off into nothingness. Surtur then leaned back and roared into the sky, before stomping his way towards all of the heroes that opposed him.
Cap took a breath and cupped his chin.
'I need to help fight against Surtur. It's my duty to do so. But how am I supposed to help? Am I supposed to just bash his ankles with my shield?'
He turned his attention to the air, where he saw Thor and Wonder Woman flying towards Surtur. Following them were Jean Grey, Robotman, the Martian Manhunter, and Mar-Vell. Jean Grey lifted up three trees with her mind, and when she extended her arm, all of the trees were sent flying towards Surtur.
Thunder boomed throughout the skies, and lighting came careening towards Mjlonir, which Thor sent against the fire demon. Mar-Vell shot out energy blasts against Surtur, while Robotman flew up in the air. He was right next to Surtur's chest as he did this, and as he went higher into the air, he got his fist ready, and he delivered an uppercut to the ruler of Muspelheim. Wonder Woman unsheathed her sword, and she slashed Surtur's chest with it. Martian Manhunter blasted his Martian heat vison towards the fire demon's back. The Green Lanterns, Carol, Superman, Iron Man, Namor, and Storm all flew towards Surtur as well, and Cap saw Batman, Black Panther, and Aquaman running over to him.
With Batman in front of the others, Cap locked his eyes on the Dark Knight. "Batman!" he shouted. "Any ideas on what we should do?"
"I suggest that we should distract Surtur! We should direct his attention away from the heavy hitters, and that would give them more of an advantage!"
"That sounds good and all, but how the hell do we actually do that?"
Batman raised his hand up. "No need to worry about that, Captain. We've already begun."
Cap turned his head to see Superman using his freeze breath against Surtur's left arm. When Surtur tried to swat the Man of Steel away, Iron Man blasted towards his face.
Then the Flashes and Quicksilver began zooming around Surtur, and he looked down at them and grunted loudly, while Wasp was blasting toward the giant demon's kneecaps.
With them there, Hank and Elasti-Girl charged towards Surtur from behind. Both only came up to Surtur's stomach in their giant forms, but Hank was still able to kick the back of Surtur's leg while Elasti-Girl elbowed his knee.
Surtur kneeled down to the ground, while Cap and his teammates ran towards him.
"What are we going to do?" Cap asked Batman.
"What I'll say now is to be prepared for a massive drop in the temperature," Batman replied as they, Black Panther, and Aquaman stopped in their tracks.
Cap raised an eyebrow.
"Mr. Freeze's technologies" Batman clarified as he pulled a ray gun identical to Mr. Freeze's out. "Before we met up at the Vanguard Tower, I was studying the science behind it, and I made several copies of the thing."
He pulled out three other sonar devices and threw up towards the three. As the entire M-Force began attacking Surtur, Cap stared at the device.
"Ice guns against a fire demon. I have no idea how this will go."
"It most likely won't cause him real pain. But it should annoy him and direct his attention away so that the others can deliver him that real pain."
He raised his device up, and Cap and the others did the same. They saw the three Green Lanterns creating two assault rifles and an alien-like counterpart, which they used to shoot countless bullets towards Surtur. Meanwhile, Zatanna began blasting out wind and ice towards Surtur, and Carol began projecting her own blasts towards him. Then the four activated their devices and blasted ice into the air, directly towards Surtur.
As Surtur flung Superman and Thor away, his head perked up and he looked down at the ice that was forming around. He snarled and eyed down the four Vanguardians, but Cap the others continued to shoot out the ice until it spread towards his legs, to which Surtur grunted loudly.
Hal created a gigantic hammer with his power ring and he bashed Surtur with it, while Storm created hail in the air and directed it all towards Surtur. Scarlet Witch motioned her hands around and stopped some of that hail mid-motion. It spiked a glowing red, and then Scarlet Witch threw it all back towards the Muspelheim king. Jade flew up towards his head and began blasting green energy into his eyes. Surtur grabbed Jade and placed her into the palm of his hand, and then threw her several hundred feet away. Thor began swinging Mjlonir around and threw it directly at Surtur's nose, while Superman blasted him with heat vision. Hulk jumped up high in the air and punched Surtur right in the stomach, while Mera raised up water from a nearby pond and formed a gigantic ball with it, one that she sent towards Surtur.
Surtur growled. "Your efforts are more impressive than I thought they would be. I will give you all that much. But those efforts will all be in vain!"
When Kilowog and Iron Man shot out beams towards Surtur, he raised his hand up and sent it down upon the two, and they crashed onto the ground. Hal flew down over to Kilowog, and Cap ran over to the two Green Lanterns and Iron Man.
"Are you two alright?!" Hal shouted as he landed on the grass below.
Iron Man and Kilowog both said that they were, and while electricity still cackled from Iron Man's armor, he flew up into the air for another go against Surtur. Kilowog did the same.

Hal looked at his ring and sighed. "I hope this ends soon. I don't have much juice left, and I don't want to have to use the last-resort idea."
Cap titled his head. "What last resort idea?"
"Either you'll see, or I'll tell you after the battle is won."
Then Hal flew back up into the air, and Cap saw Valkyrie and Lady Sif flying on the Pegasus alongside him. When the Pegasus flew closer to Surtur, Valkyrie jumped down from it and charged down towards Surtur, aiming her spear. The spear impaled his forehead, and Surtur roared. Then the Pegasus flew back towards Valkyrie, and Lady Sif helped Valkyrie get back onto her steed. Cap saw Shuri, Obsidian, Elongated Man, and Spider-Woman all coming his way. The latter three ran past Cap and continued their way towards Surtur, but Shuri stopped and faced Cap.
"I have an idea," Shuri said, before raising her finger up and saying, "Well, actually, the ghost of Kent Nelson has an idea."
Then yellow sparks came out from Shuri's hands, and Cap took a step back as eight sparks shot out from Shuri's hands and took the form of humanoid beings. It did not take long for the sparks to solidify, and Cap's eyes widened when he saw who they were.
It was Kent Nelson, the original Doctor Fate, with Wildcat, Black Canary, and Starman by his side. It was not long before the spirits of Miss America, Whizzer, Human Torch, and Namora stood by them as well. Jay sped over to the grouped spirits, and Namor and Alan levitated down to the ground. All of their mouths went agape.
"Well…I'll be damned…" Jay said.
Then Surtur let out another roar, and Cap looked at his fellow superheroes from the 1940s. "Liberty Brigade, attack!" Cap yelled, and he began running towards Surtur. His three living teammates and the eight dead spirits all followed suit.
When Cap was merely a couple of feet away from Surtur, and Surtur was preoccupied with handling Shuri and Obsidian, Cap grabbed out the ice gun that Batman had given him and blasted coldness through the air again. Once more, he managed to freeze up Surtur's leg. Surtur looked down at Cap and narrowed his eyes while bellowing. Jay began speeding around Surtur, while Alan created a wrecking ball and swung it towards Surtur's chest. Namor kicked the fire demon in the same area.
The eight ghosts all levitated up to Surtur's face. He looked at them and raised an eyebrow. They began to emanate a very bright yellow light – they were almost as bright as the sun would ever get. Surtur tried to shield himself by covering his face with his arm, but then an explosion of light originated from where the ghosts were. The heroes were all shielded away, but Surtur tumbled down onto the ground. When Surtur got up, he growled and fumed out from his nose.
"This must end. THIS! MUST! END!" he shouted out, before fire erupted from all around his body. He yelled into the sky, and he saw where the eight spirts where.
The spirits began flying towards him and began blasting towards him. When this happened, Carol and the three Green Lanterns did the same thing. Then Superman, Martian Manhunter, Wasp, Zatanna, and Iron Man all began blasting at Surtur as well. Shuri, Scarlet Witch, Jade, Obsidian, Shazam, and Mar-Vell all joined in next, and over a dozen beams of energy could be seen being shot in Surtur's direction. Thor and Storm both created more lightning from the clouds and propelled it towards Surtur as well.
Surtur could be heard groaning and uttering under his breath. Then, after a minute of enduring the blasts, he bellowed, and extended his arms out. In doing this, he sent all the blasts of energy back towards the direction of where they had come from, and all of the heroes who had been attacking Surtur were sent flying away uncontrollably. Jay began zooming around, and Barry and Quicksilver were quick to join him. Surtur clenched his teeth before stomping his foot onto the ground, sending the speedsters into the air. Elongated Man began stretching himself, but Surtur grabbed him while he was in this form and threw him down against the Hulk and Solovar.
Asgardian soldiers ran towards Surtur at impressive speeds, while Thor and Wonder Woman began flying at him. Surtur tried to crush the latter with his sword, but they were just barely able to push back against it. Black Panther and Batman activated their versions of the device, while Aquaman ran alongside Wolverine and Changeling with the Asgardian soldiers, in Surtur's direction. Hank and Elasti-Girl both tried to jab, cross, and hook Surtur in the stomach, but he delivered an uppercut to Hank and kneed Elasti-Girl in the head. More fire erupted from Surtur right after this happened. When the Asgardian soldiers, Wolverine, Aquaman, and Changeling began to attack Surtur, he slid his sword across the ground and used it to plow through them. The three superheroes were sent flying alongside them.
When fire erupted from Surtur one more time, Cap's eyes bulged out when he saw his left leg in flames. He stopped, dropped, and rolled in an attempt to get the fire off of him. He looked around to see Wonder Woman, Thor, and Superman had also caught fire because of the attack. It would not kill them due to their strong endurances, but all three of the Vanguardians still yelled out.
The spirits of the dead Liberty Brigadiers all glowed golden energy from their hands, and the Human Torch shot out golden fire towards Surtur while Starman used his old staff and shot out stellar energy. Both beams struck Surtur in the stomach, while Black Canary let out a ghostly Canary Cry, and Doctor Fate shot out projections of the Fate symbol towards Surtur. Miss America, Namora, and Whizzer all levitated towards the fire demon at furious speeds, and began jabbing and punting him in various parts of his torso.
Surtur growled out, and he clapped his hands with enough force to send dust and wind all across the battlefield. The spirits were flung away from him, and Surtur snarled before repeating his action. Then he slashed at all eight of them with his firey sword, and with that, the spirits faded away.
Cap looked over to Shuri, who gasped. "How…how the hell did he do that?!"
Shazam flew up to Surtur's hand and grabbed his finger. "SHAZ -" he began, before Surtur flicked him away.
Then, while many of the other heroes began shooting at Surtur, Cap felt the ground shake. He turned around to see the Hulk pacing faster and faster, before he jumped up high in the air. When Surtur took notice of the Hulk, the latter extended his arms behind his back and then latched onto Surtur's horn. Hal and Carol were among those shooting at Surtur, and when Surtur got more firey, they were sent crashing down onto the ground.
"NOTHING CAN STOP RAGNAROK!" Surtur shouted.
Waves of Asgardian soldiers were charging towards Surtur, but he was able to step on them or flick them away, which he was also able to do with the heroes. When Hank and Elasti-Girl both tried to punch Surtur, he kicked him away.
Hal and Carol levitated over to Cap, and the super soldier saw Hal frown.

"I didn't want to have to do this…" Hal said, looking down at the ground and frowning.
Carol looked over to Hal and raised an eyebrow. "Do what, Hal?"
"Remember the Power Stone? The item Attuma had? I grabbed it from the Tower right before Odin brought us here."
Hal pulled out a metallic orb that had been used to store the Power Stone. "What I'm about to do might backfire, but at this point, we have no choice."
The orb clicked and opened up, and the purple stone that Attuma had used to rule over Atlantis shone in the faces of the three.
Hal grabbed the stone with his hand. And then he dropped the orb and began to scream.
Cap and Carol were both forced to take a step back. Hal's shrieks intensified, and dashes of purple energy shot out all around. The rest of the battlefield grew silent. Everyone, even Surtur, stopped in their tracks and looked over at Hal, who kneeled on the ground. Purple cracks were beginning to form throughout his body.
Barry sped over to the scene, and Carol shouted, "HAL! STOP!"
Hal let out one more scream, before he used his ring hand and had the power ring make direct contact with the Power Stone. Kilowog and Alan both levitated down to where Barry was standing, and after a few moments of Hal touching the stone with his ring, a wave of purple erupted and encircled the battlefield. A moment later, Hal began breathing heavily, and he stood up. Purple and green fire emitted from his body, and his eyes glowed a shining violet. His teeth clenched.

Surtur's mouth went agape. "What in the name of Muspelheim…"
Hal let out a war cry, and he raised his ring arm up into the arm. In just a matter of moments, a small recreation of Mount Rushmore appeared on the battlefield. The heads of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln began to move out of the mountain, with bodies emerging below them as they did so. They were only slightly shorter than Surtur, and each of them swung many hits and kicks towards him. Then Hal let out a war cry, and thousands of arrows were sprouting up in the distance. There would have been enough of them to blot out the sun. Surtur took a few steps forward, but every single one of the arrows struck his body, and he screeched.
The Presidents each delivered one more blow to Surtur before they disappeared. Hal flew up in the air, and he extended his arm out. In doing so, he created hundreds of army tanks and hundreds of missiles, all of which were firing in Surtur's direction. When he received the countess blows, Surtur began backing up and groaning.
He looked at Hal and snarled, but Hal narrowed his eyes and created two gigantic monstrous blobs. These blobs shapeshifted into Godzilla and Cthulu. The Godzilla construct let out the classic roar before shooting out atomic breath towards Surtur. While Surtur was preoccupied in trying to block the atomic breath with his elbow, the Cthulhu charged towards Surtur and began bashing at him with its hands. When Surtur kneeled onto the ground. The winged, tentacle-faced monstrosity clasped its hands together and bashed them into the back of Surtur's skull, with enough force that one of Surtur's horns chipped off. The monstrous constructs vanished, and Hal created four dozen 50-foot tall robots, which all circled around Surtur and began shooting at him.
Surtur grabbed his sword and began slashing at the many robots, shattering most of them in one strike. Hal then levitated down by Carol and Cap again, and as his ring glowed again, he winced.
Carol's eyes bulged. "HAL!"
Purple energy began to emit from around Hal, and he groaned. "The Power Stone…it's too much. It'll kill me," Hal said. Then he sighed. "So be it."
Carol narrowed her eyes. "Not if I have anything to say about it."
Carol grabbed Hal's hand, and she shrieked as purple fire began to consume her as well. She clenched her teeth, and began to shake. Then Barry sped over to the area and grabbed Carol's hand, and the same thing happened with him. Cap ran over to Hal and grabbed his other hand, and felt his body jolt as the Power Stone's energy coarsed through his veins.
It was moments later that he felt a hand grab onto him, and he looked over to see that it was Superman. Wonder Woman had grabbed Barry's hand, and Thor was holding onto hers. It was not long before Iron Man, Batman, Aquaman, Black Panther, and Hulk all came towards the right side of the row. They ran over and joined hands with each other. Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, Wasp, and a regular-sized Hank came on the other side and joined hands as well.
Surtur taking on the robots that Hal had created. While he roared and slashed his way through of them, the other heroes began to join hands with the Vanguard. Jay and Shuri went over to one side, and Alan and Namor went to the other. Shazam, Elongated Man, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver were next, and it was only a minute later that all 42 of the heroes in the battle were linking themselves together, all sharing the power of the Infinity Stone.
Surtur looked down at all of them and let out a final scream of anger before he charged towards them, and raised his sword in the air to bring down up them.
The Martian Manhunter had created a telepathic link so everyone would know what to do. As Surtur lowered the sword, everyone squeezed their hands, and a massive burst of purple energy shot out towards Surtur.
As the energy circled around Surtur, he tried to swat it away, but it kept zooming around him. Then it forced its way into Surtur himself, and he screamed hoarsely. He kept screaming and screaming, until his eyes and mouth both glowed violet.
He kneeled and buried his head in his hands as the energy intensified. Then he tilted his head back and roared into the skies, before there was an explosion.
Hal, Kilowog, and Alan all created green shields to protect the heroes and soldiers from the blast.
When it was over, Surtur was nowhere to be found. All that remained was his burnt Crown.
Everyone began to breathe heavily. Cap and Superman locked eyes with each other, and they chuckled.
The Earth would live to see another year after all.
