Roommates
Chapter 19: Kevin Got This
oooOOOooo
Lapis had no idea she would be caught up with having to save a couple of human teenagers from a corrupt gem that was attacking nearby a night party. Lapis was simply flying around at night, enjoying the view. Usually, she would go with her friend Steven but knew it was late in the evening. Most likely, Steven was getting ready to go to bed. No sense interrupting something human needed to survive; sleeping being one of them. As she passed a big house surrounded by stone walls, she heard screams. People were quickly leaving the premises as a few of them called out 'monster'.
Being part of the Crystal Gem meant it was her duty to investigate, whether she wanted to or not. Before she made the call with her phone, she needed to make sure it was a gem related case. Funny thing, Lapis was smiling. Remembering she now had a phone with Jamie's phone plan and it matches with his own cellular device with the difference being only in its color. Descending to the ground, she tried asking from the crowd of teens, but they were too busy running away to stop for a moment to speak to her. Typical, thought the blue gem as she shook her head internally. She then turned to the source from where the humans were running away from. It was inside the big building. It looked like a house, but bigger. A lot bigger than Jamie's and Steven's combined. She pushed aside the teens that were in her way as she apologized. The crisis was getting bigger as she heard something breaking inside.
Making her way in, she found the side of a wall missing. What was left of the wall was turned into a pile rubble on the floor. She ran ahead, passing the room without a wall into the living room. Just as she arrived, she quickly jumped to the side. Completely avoiding a TV being flung by some huge white creature.
"Not my Smart TV! It was 65in of pure crystal display with 144hz refresh rate!" Spoke a voice as he quickly yelped, narrowly dodging the monster's arm. "Please! Someone stop him before he wrecks my parents house!"
Lapis quickly spotted a vase with a plant growing from the inside. Using it large content of water, she used it to push the creature back before commencing the actual assault. Lapis retracted the water content to form a giant fist before swinging back and then into the creature's chest. "Run!" She shouted to the human teen. The boy stood there for a moment before locking eyes on his savior. As if he recognized her, he was trying to make the connection through the high stress situation but then Lapis shouted once more.
"I SAID RUN!" Just as the monster roared, shouting several glass possessions nearby. The male teen ran off, giving Lapis room to fight as she wrapped the creature around with the water content. "Now, let's see if we can get you to sit still." She closed both her hands to grip the monster in one place. No matter what, he was indeed strong. He struggled through the force as Lapis felt her hands being pushed back slightly. She didn't stop though. Freeing one hand, she used her water telekinesis to fling the 'smart TV' back at the monster to stun it for a bit. It worked as Lapis then felt a large body of water nearby.
"Hey! Before you go back fighting at that monster, tell Kevin your name?" Spoke the teen from before. He came back after running to safety to find out her name. Something that Lapis found bothersome as she took her attention off from the corrupted gem. That gave the monster a chance to grab hold of her arm and swing her around before letting her go through a wall. Crashing across the room on the other side, Lapis shook her head. She would definitely feel something after this as she quickly got up.
Shaking her head to remove the daze, she looked to find the monster running away. Sluggish at best, Lapis could easily make her way flying towards him. Lifting herself up, she flew straight toward the creature.
"Wait!" The human boy stepped in once again to bother her. He stood in front of her, stopping her from her tracks as she abruptly halted her flight.
"What what what!" Lapis shouted. Outraged by the human brat that continued to disrupt her job as a 'Crystal Gem'. Did Steven have this problem when he first started? If so, how did he handle such trivial nonsense?
"Geez... Kevin simply wants to know the name of the lovely blue beauty." He said, casting a view from head to toe. It felt weird. Like that creep guy from Empire City weird.
Lapis sigh. "Lapis. My name is Lapis, now move!" Lapis shoved the boy to the side as she resumed flight. Heading up to the air, she hoped to spot the monster from a high elevation. She looked to the left, and she looked to the right. No avail. There were no marks from the monster, meaning it escaped. Great, thought Lapis as she descended from the sky. Now she had to tell Garnet about her encounter with the corrupted gem. And best of all, her failure. She left, not wanting to see that boy again.
He was the cause of her failure. If she were to see him once more, she would lose it. She decided to take a walk to calm herself before seeing Jamie. Knowing it would take a bit longer for her to loosen up, she didn't want Jamie to see that side of her. The side that filled with senseless rage and force. It was what she used to take all the ocean water from the planet earth to form an elevator for her escape. She fought against the Crystal Gem with that feeling resonating from her gem. Now she wasn't like that anymore. She didn't want to be like that anymore. Part of her still felt that anger from time to time. But with Jamie, she rarely need to let that feeling out. With Jamie, it was all but gone.
oooOOOooo
Kevin sighed. Great. His house was partially destroyed with water overflowing into the living room, and he had no clue where the shut-off value was. To make the matter worse, the girl he had his sights on for a while stood before him, and he failed to get anything from her. She was so disinterested in him. She would rather fight some monster trashing his place than speak to him and exchange phone numbers. Taking his cell phone out, he began to dial for his workers. Most of them ran after the attack, but since the monster was gone they had no excuse not to come back and clean up.
"Good. You all better be back within 20 minutes or you're all fired." Kevin spoke as he ended the call. Taking a seat down, Kevin let out another sigh.
"Dude!"
"Ah! What?" Kevin spoke out as his heart nearly gave out from the abrupt appearance of his friend.
"I was totally wrong! Stacy didn't break up with me. It was a complete misunderstanding. Isn't that game?" Spoke Slick as he displayed his text messages with his girlfriend towards Kevin's sight. It was filled with heart emojis as Slick felt entirely delighted with the outcome.
"Great...but what are you doing here? I thought you said you were too depressed to come?" He was told by Slick's twin sister that he wasn't coming due to his 'sudden break-up' with his girlfriend. It wasn't the first time they broke up, but they were persistent. Trying to make their relationship work. After all, they were together since the end of middle school. They knew more about the other than anyone else in the world.
"Honesty, dude... I don't know. I remembered sitting by myself near the coast, and the next thing I knew... I was by your house."
"Weird." Said Kevin.
"Totally, but I ain't complaining. Happy to still be with Lucy, after all these years." He beamed a smile before resuming his conversation with 'Lucy' via through text messaging.
Kevin shook his head as he sat on a chair, head down, waiting for his workers to return. His parents were so going to kill him. But despite all of this, there was a silver lining. Lapis. A sweet name for a sweet girl as he began to ponder his next course of action. Funny enough, the wind blew a sheet of paper towards his face as it stuck the landing.
"What the-" Spoke the teen before discarding the paper, but stopped midway when he read a word. 'Audition'. "Hello, what is this?" A play performed by a local theater. Requesting people to come and try out. What caught his eyes, was an image in the bottom right corner. Written and directed by the same person that recently got an award for his previous play. In that photograph, they had a picture of the cast bowing before the audience. In the center, was a girl. A girl with blue skin and short blue hair. "Looks like things are looking up for the Kevin."
Part of the ceiling fell nearby, but it became oblivious to the teen boy as he resumed his playboy smile. Looks like he'll be returning to Beach City sooner than he thought.
oooOOOooo
Jamie woke up. His eyes were still adjusting to the darkness when he looked to his side. Difficult to make out, he only had his sense of touch to verify. Yep, she was still here. Lapis' warmth was a dead giveaway as he wrapped himself around the girl. Placing a gentle kiss on her bare shoulders. The act of his lips were enough to stir the sleeping gem, shifting and turning until she now faced Jamie yet still with closed eyes. With her arms, she wrapped herself around his body before using his chest as a pillow.
Jamie did not refuse as he rested his chin on her head. He could not be any happier. Feeling adventurous, he played with the strand of hair sticking out. Carefully feeling from beginning to end, his hand found themselves down to her ear. He made sure to be light with his touch as he slid down to the rim. Lapis voiced appealed to Jamie as he continued with his motion. Would it be rude to compare her to a kitten? They both loved to cuddle and contact by the ears seemed like a strong enjoyment.
"I'm not a cat..."
Jamie halted, as he felt her head tilting until they were staring at each other. Before he spoke, he felt a touch on his lips followed by another. Gentle and brief, he wondered if he was simply losing it.
"No...you're definitely not." He spoke, even as he received several more touch of love. They did not deter him from speaking.
"What time is it?" Spoke his duchess, yawning and stretching a bit in bed. Definitely not a cat as she revealed her teeth to him before scratching her disheveled head a bit. Another wonderful sleep with Jamie she thought, as she wondered how Pearl could not get into this. It felt unproductive at first, but upon waking up she feels so much better. Her mind felt refreshed and being close to Jamie for several hours each night was a complete game changer. There was no point now to sleep without him because then there would be no point. She tasted the elixir that drove many to be succumbed by their desired yet transcended to new heights. Being together with someone...in love...loving... Everything that Jamie gives and continues to give were simply bliss. They spoke as they expressed what it meant to be together.
How scared were they initially. Neither one bore experience, yet they were naturally informed of the act as they committed the sensual momentum. Her gem ignited and accepted his feelings before transforming. She was only a stage below completion. However, as the way things were with them there was no need to rush.
"5:37 AM. We still have about an hour and a half before we need to get up." Jamie returned the clock before returning his attention to his girlfriend. "Which means-"
"Which means we have time for this."
Jamie was pushed by her backside as he was forced to cuddle her from behind. She grabbed hold of his arms as she forcefully wrapped them around her. "You really like being wrapped, huh?"
"Only from you...and Steven. But differently..." Lapis said, earning a chuckle from him as she elbowed his abdominal. "Hey! Don't forget, I know where you live and work." Her playful threat fell to deaf ears as she heard the sound of snoring. Obviously he was feigning slumber, but Lapis has one more ace on her sleeves. "Did you know...that I fused with someone already. A while back before we officially met."
"No... I don't think you ever brought that up..." That took the young man by surprised. It became suddenly heavy as Lapis began to recall the events leading to that. The first of many waves of attack from homeworld after the war. Lapis managed to return only to be forcefully brought back to earth as an informant. "I became a prisoner soon after and upon my escape I fused with someone I shouldn't have. It was stupid really. I was being stupid. I thought I could at least save Steven, even for a little while."
Jamie became entirely focused on her as his head drew closer. "Okay... I'm sorry. I'll stop." Jamie didn't need to win one over her. He placed a well-intended hand on her shoulder.
"I fused yet I felt broken down. And as I existed as Malachite, I... I rose to new heights. I managed to keep someone like Jasper down at the bottom of the Earth's ocean for weeks. I also learned just how much of a monster I can be when left unrestrained." Her fist tightened. "I could easily take down an army from Homeworld. Yet, I felt so easily assaulted. My fingers felt right as a fist pounding down on someone's face. I shudder to think what would have happened. With all that force and power, I felt like no one could ever break us down. No one could ever break me down any further than what I've already done. I... I liked it."
This was no longer about getting even. At this point, it was an opening of yet another door. An obscure door that Lapis did not feel proud of. She did like it. Yet, she knew it was wrong. Poison that felt good at first, only lead to more pain. She nearly lost herself that day. What am I doing? She thought. All it was, was a game. She wanted to play the game. Stir some jealousy before affirming and soothing the lad. However, she spoke more than she could possibly chew. As she began, the rest simply followed as she brought up some heavy memories. I really am a stupid girl... She thought as she smiled.
"I'm glad Steven and the rest managed to split you two up." Jamie's voice reached her ear as they tingled. Shivering by how close they were, and the grip on her body by the mail carrier.
"Me too." A shift in the air hovered around the bedroom. A bit early, but they both had the time and energy without protest.
And as Jamie pulled away, he quickly said this. "I'll text Connie to postpone the Read-Aloud by two hours."
"You sure?"
Jamie simply shook his head with a smile. "Of course! Nothing is more important right now than this."
Lapis could feel her power abruptly leaking down her eyes as she gave in to the emotions in the air. The door she accidentally opened slowly yet calmly shut. There was plenty of time to revisit her past as Jamie was more than willing to wait. Her body required some attending to. With the delay of the scheduled revision of his upcoming play, it gave Jamie time to work on her tortured soul. Each movement of his lips were placed to alleviate the hurt released by her heart. His only guidance with his remedy, was her lips and the sounds that escaped from them. Meaning her core was the most sensitive as he gently kissed her gem several times. However times she wanted and needed as they spent most of the morning in bed.
Author's Notes:
I want to apologize by how late this story's updates have progressed. Every year, it seems like my will of fire grows dimmer. A spark of its former self. I'm currently applying to several Graduate Schools; so perhaps it may continue to be as fickle and bothersome. I hope I'll do better this year. Either way, what did you think? Please comment/review, it definitely helps to get feedbacks to get the old writer's blood flowing. Until next time! -sorrowXdarkness
