20 | Fanatic of Night

Times is ageless and unmerciful to most of those who've lived past natural years, for those inhumane and abominations to the natural orders of mother nature. For several thousands of years they knew of this, trapped in a voided world of isolation with just the two of them as the last of their kind. They were the last of the Founders bloodline, First Bloods. It was because of Karlheinz and the damn vampire king's power that kept them trapped in the barrier of their castle of the demon world.

Carla and Shin Tsukinami, who harbored a deep hate for the pureblood race and for the spawns of Karlheinz

They never thought a world such as Fiore would exist, but it was understandable why no one mentioned it. Here the humans were different, harboring magic that could kill demons and vampires alike. They were equal in this world and probably wouldn't hesitate to kill them if either of them were to step out of line. Which is where Carla came to the conclusion that the Sakamaki brothers had figured out.

For a few months they had been watching, unsure if the pure bloods were awaiting for their arrival upon breaking out or if they truly disregarded it like the idiots they were. For months they used their familiars, watched the pure-bloods, half-bloods and the two girls they were always around. How no one paid much mind the snakes or eagles was beyond them but made their observations easier.

Four months of collection information brought Carla and Shin to the conclusion of what they needed to do and how to do it. Yui Komori was in possession of a heart of one of the survivors of the First Blood clan. Upon finding this out, revenge left the mind of Carla. It was his duty with his brother to restore their race, and they would do so with Yui. With her they could continue their dying bloodline while searching for others like her.

There was two problems with that plan and they knew would cause bumps in the road for them to secure Yui's being, and the names of their problems were Ayato Sakamaki and Lucy Heartfilia. The pure- blood vampire was in love with the human, either he knew it or not and would kill anyone who dared to take her. The mage was near Yui most times, and because of her power levels she was a danger to them.

Yet now the pure-blood vampires had a weakness they didn't have before, a weakness that would provide a beautiful distraction and wreck chaos in it's wake if something unfortunate was to happen. That distraction was a beautiful blonde who captures the hearts of the pure-bloods and half-bloods.

"Are you sure about this brother?" Shin asks, leaning back in the arm rest of the old abandoned building they were currently residing in.

Carla didn't bother to look up from the book he was reading, "I've never been more sure with anything else."

Shin hummed in agreement, knowing that his elder brother's plan would not fall short. Anything Carla ever planned was well though out down to the T, and it never failed. Within the end of the month, when the blood moon was high in the sky they would have Yui Komori in their grasps. They would take her and destroy the pure blood's last shred of humanity.

Tonight was when their game to begin.

Mom,

I know I haven't really written a letter to you in a while, but life has been pretty crazy and eventful lately. The Sakamaki's and Mukami's are officially members of Fairy Tail and have been getting personal jobs and tagging with Team Natsu every now and then, or with Gajeel and Wendy. I'm surprised no one has tried to pick a fight, a real fight (expect Natsu and Ayato), and I feel like that if solely for my sake.

I would have never thought this is where my life would be at today the day I met the Sakamaki's and their father. Had you ever known about the deal dad made with the vampire king, well I'd know you'd done everything to stop it in your power. Yet I don't regret meeting them or going through the experiences I've had with them. After all, it's lead me back to Edgar, who now goes by Yuma. You would have loved the man he grew to be once you got past his layer of being cold towards people and a vampire.

I don't really know what to write anymore, and maybe that's the real reason why I don't write as often anymore. I can't help but wish you were here. I'm dating Shuu Sakamaki, and I know eventually I'll marry him. I know that my team thinks I'm only marrying him to fulfill my contract, but I've fallen in love with his blue eyes somewhere along the way. He isn't a monster, he was lost. He's finding himself now, they all are.

Maybe that's my purpose though, to bring them a new sense of peace and a home. We have a home here in Magnolia. I just wish you were here with me mom, and dad even. I miss you both. Though one day I know we will see each other again. I'm sorry this letter is a random mess.

I love you,

- Lucy Heartfilia

The blonde celestial mage merely looked at the folded letter at hand that now laid on the desk with a small smile and thought back over the three months that passed by in a blink of an eye. Everything finally felt peaceful, the way happiness felt- like all the problems she stressed over were finally faded and she could focus on the now.

She had her team to go on missions with, who didn't question her judgement anymore and let the brothers have the benefit of the doubt with Team Natsu saying that the brothers were part of the guild now. That anyone in the guild and bore the guild mark was nakama. The guild had welcomed in the brothers and Yui with open arms, not questioning who they were or their pasts, just like when Lucy first joined herself.

They were free to make their choices now, away from their father. Lucy had finally gotten the brothers in a spot were they weren't the monsters they believed themselves to be growing up. The Sakamaki's were so much more than the kids their mother's raised and bore, they were who they decided to be. No one could make their choices, force a personality on them or take their identity away. Who they were and wanted to be was on them.

With the Mukami's, Lucy merely had to remind them that just because they were vampires didn't mean they had to e heartless. They had emotions, wither they admitted it or not. They were blinded to strive for perfection, to one up the pure bloods. It was okay to feel with their hearts, and feeling emotions didn't mean weakness. The Fairy Tail guild just helped them open up a bit more.

They all fell into a new normal, a new routine that felt as natural as it could be. Yes, at times Lucy did face a little more tougher times with her team. Natsu wanted to trust them for Lucy's sake, she knew that but she knew change was one of the toughest things for the fire dragon slayer. It was why she gave him the time and space she needed, which he took without really noticing.

Where they took missions as teams, Lucy couldn't help but notice that they spoke less and he came by rarely. She didn't miss Natsu breaking into her home, but she did miss his presence. After that first mission where she told them the truth of her situation, her team had been protective. Yet as the past twelve weeks went by, the changes were there.

Lisanna was becoming Natsu's focus, and Lucy was happy for them. She wanted both mages to be happy and they had been best friends. They deserved that happiness, even if Natsu hadn't fully grasped the concept. It was why she wasn't hurt, because Lucy knew that Natsu was having a crush.

Erza and Gray had been more serious, yet more welcoming towards her vampire companions. Lucy wasn't sure what the two were trying to plan, but they had dinner at the guild every other night with Shuu and Yuma- who actually had taken a liking towards her two teammates in secret. They let Erza and Gray around with their walls more down than with others, trusting the two mages Lucy trusted herself.

"Good morning, Angel." Shuu muttered, nuzzling the blonde locks that smelled of strawberry and vanilla.

Lucy hummed in response, slipping the envelope into the box she finally received back from Erza containing all her mother's letters she's written. She was grateful that the redhead kept it for her, despite her leaving the box behind originally. At that time when she left, Lucy didn't want anything to do with fairy tail, to remind her of what she lost and the letters held every little detail of memory within the ink.

"Good morning." Lucy chirped, spinning in her chair and smiling up at the blonde man with messy bed head. She would never say it to his face, since she was sure Shuu would never attempt to brush his hair again, but she loved the messy hair in the morning. It was an attractive look, seeing Shuu waking up unkept. "You're up earlier than usual."

Shuu glanced at the box he knew was important to Lucy, and while he was always curious to what she wrote about, he knew it was her privacy. It was her way to stay in touch with her mother somewhat and he respected that. He didn't have the same motherly love she did, but Lucy herself made up for all of it. Yet he could only chuckle and offer the questioning blonde a smile that was only meant for her.

"The pen woke me up, if I'm honest. You write aggressively." Shuu says, earning a frown and a roll of brown eyes.

"You write aggressively." Lucy mimics him, using her hand as if it were a hand puppet. "Really? You're a vampire and you can't ignore me writing? Let's try that answer again."

Shuu flicked her forehead, chuckling again when Lucy scowled. "Can't I just wake up early without a reason?"

"You're Shuu Sakamaki, so no." Lucy says, but lets the topic go as she stands up. Without saying anything else, she pushed herself to stand on her tip toes to press a quick kiss to Shuu's lips.

Shuu's argument died on his tongue when Lucy pressed her lips to his. Yet when she went to pull away, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. Her brown eyes looked up into his, and Shuu couldn't help but smirk down at her. He could feel the shiver he caused her body as a reaction and chuckled.

"You can't tease a vampire." Shuu muttered huskily, slamming his lips against hers.

Lucy didn't hesitate, her arms wrapping around behind his neck and intertwining her fingers into his hair delicately. She couldn't help but love how soft his hair was, even unbrushed and somewhat knotted. "I can when the vampire is mine."

Shuu growled lowly, picking Lucy up from her waist and wrapping her legs around his own waist. He grunted when she merely tightened her legs around him and slowly moved herself in an experimental grind. Not even a second later was Lucy pinned by Shuu against the wall, a small gasp leaving her lips at the sudden impact.

Hearing her claim him with such a low tone, trending on lust, it turned Shuu on more than he expected it too. His lips moved against hers, her fingers twirling some of his locks as she nipped his bottom lip to be granted access. It was access that he granted quickly, his tongue dancing with hers for dominance. It was a battle he won when he bucked his hips against hers, swallowing her moan that followed.

Her arousal fermented the air around them, the smell nearly as intoxicating as her usual daily scent. It was a smell that was driving Shuu crazy, and a smell he wanted more of. Breaking the kiss, Shuu's lips trailed Lucy's jawline and down her neck. He licked and nip at the skin before taking a spot near where the neck meets shoulder and pulled the skin into his mouth with a gentle suck.

"Ah~" Lucy's breathy groan left her swollen lips.

"HEY KNOCK IT OFF." Yuma's yell that was followed by a loud banging on the wall caused Lucy to yelp and push Shuu away.

"YOU CAN ASSAULT MY COUSIN WHEN YOU LIVE ALONE SAKAMAKI!" Yuma continued to yell. "THAT WAY I WON'T WAKE UP SMELLING THAT!"

Lucy hid her face in her hands, "Oh Mavis. I didn't even think about that."

Shuu couldn't help but let out a loud laugh at the half blood, smirking at Lucy. "I happen to enjoy the smell of you. Makes me want to eat you all up."

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

"I'm just gonna go shower!" Lucy squeaked, running away for her escape into the restroom, leaving Shuu standing there chuckling and watching her go.

It was somewhat endearing that she was innocent in that sense. Shuu couldn't help but love her a little more.

Makarov Dreyar wasn't sure what to think about the situation of the Sakamaki brothers and Mukami brothers the day Lucy had brought them up to his office upon her return. His mind couldn't marvel with what she spoke of, but he had to accept the fact that things like vampires could exist in other worlds. If dragons and magic existed in this world they were in now, an magic was limited in Edolas, then why couldn't there be vampires in another world?

Anything was possible after all.

He wasn't sure how he came to this choice, now standing in front of the castle of the royal family in Crocus. The first issue he knew that was ensure having a family of vampires in this world was where they would get their item of primal survival, blood. They figured out blood bags and hunting animals in the woods close to the guild, and that was okay. As the weeks went by and Makarov finally got to know these young men, he learned somethings he needed in order to understand.

In his long life, Makarov was a firm believer that people should not be judge by their pasts, or where they came from. Kids were not their parents and had to do what they needed to get out of certain situations. People can't help but deal with what they are given to deal with, that was life and it was just how it was.

He understands that, watching how Laxus grew up and how he grew as a man. People needed time to evolve, to become better people than who they were. Lucy had shared the stories of the beginning with the brothers with him time to time, and he could tell by the way they walked and looked at both Lucy and Yui that they would do anything to protect those two. They had been in a love less home, and all they knew was darkness but at the end of the tunnel they were shown a light.

Fairy Tail had given the boys a family they didn't have, a sense of stability that Lucy and Yui wouldn't be able to give alone, and most of all it had given them a place to call home. Seeing the way the brothers formed relationships and friendships only proved they were there to stay, that the guild was really their place of comfort and that they were committed to Fairy Tail. Which meant that it was time for things to change, for the brothers to be legally accepted.

Which was why he waited at the doors of Queen Hisui's castle, awaiting his audience with her on this matter and hoped it would go the best way it could. It only took Arcadios a few minutes to gather Makarov and started to lean the way back to the Queen's office, where she sat with a few papers as she looked over business that dealt with the Kingdom's trading affairs.

Hearing the doors to her office open, Hisui looked up from her paper in and and offered the old guild master of Fairy Tail a welcoming smile. "Hello Master Makarov."

"Hello, Queen Hisui." Makarov bowed his head in respect and greeting.

"Hisui is fine." The green haired royal kindly says, nodding for Arcadios to close the door as she set her paper down. "Please sit and tell me what's on your mind. You requested a meeting, so I assume you need a favor?"

Makarov wasn't really sure how to go about it as he sat down in the seat from across the young queen who was extremely intelligent for her age. It was no wonder as to why she took up her father's mantle so young, with a maturity and head she had on her shoulders. Makarov respected this woman greatly, which made him all the more nervous to make this request.

"I'm sure you know about the anima reach nearly two years ago." Makarov decided to start off with that, earning a nod from Hisui.

"Yes, Jellal was the one handling that incident when it came to our attention of the breach." Hisui says, putting her hands on her lap as she sat straighter. "It has come to my attention that the ones who breached the anima are under your watch in the guild, and that they have been accompanying Lucy Heartfilia."

"Yes." Makarov frowned, "If you knew of them, then why didn't you do anything about them."

"I trust you and your guild members. They haven't caused any issues I've come to know of in their time here. Though Jellal is fickle of his trust with them. Perhaps you can tell me what it is you seek for these men." Hisui says, waiting.

The Queen of Fiore trusted the Fairy Tail guild the most, almost as much as she trusted the royal guard. When the kingdom was under threat, Fairy Tail never hesitated to put their lives on the line for her and her people, and for that she was forever grateful and respected the rowdy guild greatly. She knew of the men with Jellal being the one to report the breach and insist he find the source, taking a solo mission from his guild Crime Sorcière. The man was trying to redeem himself from past mistakes, but Hisui knew he would work himself to old age.

Yet he did report of the six men and single woman that came through, and that they were in the company of Lucy Heartfilia. Immediately Hisui knew that if these men and woman were trouble then Lucy would have done something, and if Lucy had let them stay then there was a reason. After everything the heiress had done for this Kingdom, and for what Hisui put her through with the Eclipse Gate, she would trust Lucy to bring attention if something were to happen.

"I seek immunity for these boys, your highness." Makarov states, sitting straighter. "These boys do come from another world, a world were things such as vampires exist. They are also vampires themselves who've been feeding from animals and blood bags."

Concern grew for the blonde Celestial mage, "How did Lucy get in touch with something like them? Are the a threat? Why did they come here top Earthland if to not cause problems?"

It was a natural response of rapid fire questions that Makarov had himself when he first heard Lucy tell him about vampires. He expected the questions, yet he didn't expect the nerves that came with being the one to answer them. Usually everything was easy to believe, like demons in this world, yet vampires had always been unheard of.

"Jude Heartfilia made a deal with their father when Lucy was a child and Layla had passed away. It was a deal that involved money, and in turn Lucy would marry one of his sons. After so many years, their father came to complete the deal now that his sons and Lucy were adults." Makarov tells, sighing softly.

"Did they ever do anything questionable?" Hisui questions, wishing she was surprised that Jude would make a deal like such but she wasn't. Jude Heartfilia was a questionable man of power and money when he still had it and before Lucy went missing. It was only after Lucy disappeared that Jude began to change.

"I know they were violent, due to their home life before they met Lucy. Yet I know for a fact that they both helped each other out." Makarov's voice took a guilty tone then, "Lucy met the brothers a few months after I disbanded the guild. What I didn't know at the time was that she sacrificed Aquarius's key to summon the Celestial King and free Fairy Tail in the fight of Tartaros. It's because of Lucy and her sacrifices that we still stand today. Those boys, they became something she needed and in returned I believe she saved the souls they though never existed."

Hisui's heart went out to Lucy, knowing just how devoted the other woman was to her spirits. It was what made Lucy such a well known Celestial mage within the Celestial world. Her attitude and treatment towards her spirits made her the powerful mage she was, with a kind heart that suffered too much. Her struggles made her strong, and no one could ever deny that. There is only so much a single person, and mage, could take before they broke. Hisui didn't need the whole story of what happened between Lucy and the lot of brothers. Knowing Lucy was alive, still standing and breathing and doing good was all Hisui really needed to know.

"You said she was in a deal. Was it contracted?" Hisui asks.

"Yes." Makarov answers, remembering something he left out. "There is one thing I didn't mention before. One of them, Yuma, is Lucy's blood relative. How he got over there to their world is unknown still, happening when Layla was still alive."

There was much to their own world that was still unknown, Hisui knew that. She knew some questions she had would never be answered and that sometimes she would have to rule with blind fate with the best intentions at heart. If Yuma was indeed from here, and shared blood ties with Lucy then he was technically one of her people. It was technicality she could use to their advantage, for her own support in making a choice. To welcome one of her own back and grant immunity to the others.

"These men, can you vouch for them Makarov? Can you guarantee me they will be abiding citizens that will follow our laws and be apart of our livelihoods? That they can and will follow your guild rules, and lead when and if the kingdom needs it again?" Hisui asks, knowing it was asking for too much but she needed to be sure, if she was too make accommodations for new people under her rule.

Makarov knew that he didn't know each one too well, only the brothers who let people in. Subaru, Azusa and Kanato didn't fall into that category. The others let people in, developed relationships and Lucy had to reassure that was just how the others were. Though some people like Wendy and Gray were the acceptions.

"I can promise they are living like people of this kingdom already. The follow the guild rules and know the rules of the kingdom, even finding jobs to fit into the working class and making ends meet. I can vouch when I say they truly are good people, despite their pasts. They are working away from that, and I see that with my own eyes everyday." Makarov vouched, conviction in his promise strong. It made Hisui's lips twitch in a small smile.

"I have one last question." Hisui softly says, resting her chin on her hand as she stared into Makarov's eyes, looking for any hint of hesitation. "Is Lucy happy with them? Will she actually fulfill this contract to marry one?"

"Lucy is happy, and lives with Shuu and her cousin. I believe she is marrying the eldest brother." Makarov smiled, recalling the laughter he could hear most days from Lucy. How her eyes lit up more and her smile reached the soul in her eyes. "She's happy to be home, with her whole family."

Hisui sat there for a moment in silence, her green eyes distant as she pondered over whatever thoughts were going through her head. Makarov could see that she was weighting options, thinking over pros and cons of whatever it was she was thinking about. Her judgement and choices had to be just, taking the kingdom and her people into consideration.

"Lucy has done a lot for this kingdom, and that has never slipped my attention. From Edolas, to closing the Eclipse Gates to prevent the mass destruction of dragons, to her sacrifice in Tartaros. Sacrificing a spirit isn't an easy feat, along with summoning the Celestial Spirit King." Hisui smiled a small smile of admiration. "It's easy to say the Lucy Heartfilia is the strongest celestial mage alive today."

Makarov wasn't sure where Hisui was going with this, so he said nothing and listened.

"Lucy has proven her loyalty to this kingdom time and time again. Her judgement is something I can trust." Hisui fixed her stare on Makarov, who sat there waiting. "What I say next stays solely between us and the few involved in this. No one else can know. Not Arcadios, not your whole guild Makarov."

Makarov couldn't help his curiosity, "Of course, Queen Hisui. Whatever you say will stay between us."

Taking a deep breath, Hisui finalized her decision, "I am willing to create a formal contract, that will legally give these brothers permission to hunt, feed and kill in this kingdom."

"What?!" Makarov stood from his seat, surprised that Hisui would be that quick to allow such a thing. Yes, he would admit he wanted this conversation eventually but today was to just get the brothers legal citizenship.

"As Queen, I've learned that I have to be fair to all my people who live within my kingdom. I grant your request for immunity, to get papers to file for legal citizenship. Yet now as they are my people, I have to think of their needs and accommodations."

"Which doesn't answer why." Makarov says. "Arcadios wouldn't let you do this so fast."

"That is why he is not in this room." Hisui gave a small laugh, "Lucy and your other members have given so much on faith alone. These men and the woman are people you vouch for, and I trust your judgement. There is also a long list of high profiled criminals who are a danger to society, along with dark mages and guilds no one would miss if they were to simply disappear."

Makarov's eyes widened, not entirely believing what he was hearing from the Princess in front of him. The young woman was known to be a pacifist, always thinking of her kingdom and her people first. Making sure everything was always with good intentions.

Seeing the questioning look flood in the old guild master's eyes, Hisui smiled warmly. "The price of being a mage sometimes is doing deeds that cost them something with nothing coming back in return. This contract must stay secret, but I would like to meet these brothers first. I'll contact you when I have written it out personally for Lucy and them to go over."

"Are you sure about this?" Makarov questions.

"As sure as Lucy was when she gave a piece of herself for me and my kingdom." Hisui reassured, her smile never leaving. "Let me do something for her now."

Yui still couldn't believe how much had changed and how far the Sakamaki's had come. She always knew the Mukami's were more nice, always less violent with her but now with Lucy and coming to Fiore- well, life was great. She had gotten along well with Mira and Lisanna, finding the two other woman welcoming and helpful in adjusting to life here. It was a big change that had scared her at first, with all the fighting and having to dodge flying objects occasionally.

Yet it opened up a new door for her, a door to a family she never though she'd have. The whole reason why she ever became evolved with the Sakamaki's was because her father left her there as a sacrificial bride, to be killed by the vampires while he went off to god knows where. She was merely a burden to him, and it had left her stricken with grief when she finally came to realize he never loved her. If he did then he would have never left her.

The Sakamaki's had been violent, both verbally and physically. It terrified her to no end, being pinned down and bitten all over her body. She was submissive, yet she's always been too gentle with no mean bone in her body. When Lucy came, everything did get better. Even though Lucy experienced the same things she had, the blonde had made it her mission to make sure she stayed safe.

It had been more than what anyone else had ever done for her, even her own father and the church. Perhaps Laito had been right in saying there was no God, that the faith was false to give people something to believe in. That the afterlife was a comfort thought for those on their death beds, to put their minds at ease. Yet no one really knew the answer to that to say for sure.

"M neko-chan." Kou greeted with a grin, sliding into the car stool while Yui dried a glass. "How is it living with the girls?"

Yui couldn't help but smile at him and set the glass in hand down, "It's different, less loud. Peaceful."

About two and a half weeks ago, Lucy and Yui had been talking with each other. Yui wasn't sure how the topic came up, but the blond had asked if she ever lived with another female besides Lucy herself. The honest truth was no, she never really did live with another female besides Lucy. Her father had been the one to pay for housing, but usually left Yui alone. Yet she had found out she was adopted the same day she met the Sakamaki's, which explained why she had no mother. She still wondered sometimes what happened to her birth parents, yet never pondered to long on the idea.

On the other hand it was because Lucy found out that the only other female Yui lived with was her that she insisted that Yui live at Fairy Hills to experience something new and to be around other woman for once.

"The testosterone is going to drive Yui mad one day, I swear Reiji. I don't know how she's still so sane because all these idiots make me crazy." Was exactly what Lucy had said to Reiji, who gave into the request of Yui living within the walls of Fairy Hills. Ayato and Laito weren't too happy, but when Cana had over heard and nearly dropped herself into Laito's lap- well he was a goner. Ayato had begrudgingly agreed when Lucy yanked his ear and told him to let her live a bit.

"She isn't your girlfriend, yet anyways. Let her live."

Yui stilled turned a light pink at the memory, but she didn't shy away that day like she usually did. Fairy Hills had been a nice surprise, even nicer that Ayato took up paying most of her rent with Ruki chipping in. Yui didn't want them to pay for her rent, seeing as she made her own wages here at the bar with Mira, but they wouldn't hear it.

"Oi Pancake, just let Ore-sama do this for you. As an apology."

"Apology?" Yui repeated.

"Whatttt?" Lucy said with Laito, both surprised.

""I won't say it again." Ayato huffed, crossing his arms to look away.

"You didn't say it before." Kanato commented.

Happy, popping up out of no where, "He likeeeeessss her!"

Ayato's eyebrow twitch, "I heard feline blood is good."

"LUCY HE'S GONNA EAT ME!"

Yui didn't argue, not when she could tell Ayato was trying to change himself. She sometimes caught him watching Shuu and Lucy with a look of longing, and even if she didn't fully understand him, she understood enough between what Ayato let her know and what Lucy shared. Ayato only wanted to be loved, even if he won't admit it she could tell when he watched Lucy and Shuu eating or doing the simplest tasks.

She'd wait for him to get it together, because like Lucy she was able to forgive what they've done. The Sakamaki's were just as much her family as they were to Lucy, and Yui couldn't deny the special place in her heart for Ayato Sakamaki.

"You have that same look in your eyes." Kou grinned, intrigued. "Is he someone I know?"

Yui, startled, snapped back into reality. "What are you talking about Kou?"

"You have someone on your mind, Princess." Kou smirked seeing the blush on Yui's face. "Is he a certain red headed triplet with green eyes?"

It was as if she had a sixth sense coming out of thin air next to Yui, with a mischievous smile on her lips as she looked between Kou and Yui. Kou knew why Lucy called Mira a love sensing demon, because no matter how quiet anyone whispered about their love lives somehow the white haired barmaid found out.

In the various weeks Kou had been there at the guild, Mirajane had tried to set him up with Cana, Levy, and Juvia. She tried her damn hardest, but Kou would not fall into her traps she set. That was until he admitted her had a magical ability of seeing into peoples hearts, which made a tag team of the century.

"Has Yui finally admitted she's unconditionally and irrevocably in love with Ayato?" Mira asks, clapping her hands happily. "Then they can get married and give me red haired sherbert eye babies, or blonde haired green eye babies!"

At this Yui flushed a bright pink, waving her hands around and shaking her head. "No, no! No one is having babies!"

Kou wiggled his eyebrows, "That's what you think."

"It's what I know!" Yui cried out her defense, her embarrassment on full display.

Kou only chuckled, along with Mira while they failed to notice Laito coming out from the back kitchen with a rag over his shoulder and apron tied around his waist. He was confused as to why Yui was blushing, already smelling the same innocences on her to know she didn't act naughty. Mira was smug with Kou though, and he knew the match making friends were at it again.

"If I sweat anymore I'm going to consider this labor and require payment, demon maid." Laito sighed dramatically, wiping his forehead and chuckling feeling Mira's glare.

"You are paying off the bet you lost." Mira reminded with a twisted smile, tone a little too sweet.

"Bet?" Yui asks.

Mira grinned now, "I told Laito he couldn't resist Cana for thirty minutes, and him being as hyper-sexual as he is, failed. Therefore he has dish duty after lunch and dinner rushes for the next three weeks."

Once again Yui blushed, shaking her head to get those thoughts out of her head. She could hear Laito and Kou chuckling again and opt to give them a half hearted glare. "It's not funny."

"It's cute." Mira says, giggling herself as she ruffled Yui's hair.

It was around this time that Shuu and Lucy usually came in, with Yuma and as routine went they came in through the doors. Yui was about to greet them, but she stopped before she even started her greeting seeing how Lucy was flustered, Shuu was smug and Yuma was annoyed. A soft smile graced Yui's lips, seeing Lucy happy even though flustered.

Time within the guild trickled by as morning turned to evening. Today was one of those peaceful days within the guild where Natsu caused little fights, with Ayato and Gray of course. Subaru was Asuka's choice for her entertainment for the day, along with Yuma- who had a soft spot for the child. Lucy had done a few games or darts with Laito and Cana, losing but still trying. Yui and Mira had the spot to watch it all, both feeling content as they served orders of various foods and drinks.

The thing about peace within the Fairy Tail guild hall was that it never lasted very long, but instead of Natsu getting riled up or chairs flying along with glass mugs and beer bottles hitting others to add into the fray, it was the simultaneous breaking of the guild windows. For a single moment silence swallowed the guild as the members looked around, trying to pinpoint the cause before multiple mages took a defensive stance facing the wolves that crouched down snarling at the mages.

"What the hell?"

"Why are wolves attacking the guild?"

Yui whipped her head around, trying to see what she could do. The harsh reality was that she was a liability, pure human with no magic or combat skills. She could see Kou and Ayato already in the fray, punching wolves that came too close. In the corner she could see Subaru standing in front of Asuka, who was clutching the back of his pants while Yuma stood in front of the two snarling at the wolves himself.

Mira had already left the bar, turning into her Satan Soul and backing Natsu and Lisanna up. Yui could protect herself, or she could try at least seeing as more wolves kept pouring in. There was so many that, fast and powerful that passed into the back of the guild. Towards her.

"Open, Gate of the Lion, Loke!" Lucy called out, feeling the surge of power wash through her as her lion came from his spirit. Seeing him there besides her, giving her a smile caused her to break out into a grin. "We can talk about what a bitch I was later."

"Never a bitch, Princess." Loke chuckled, but nodding. "A talk is needed, but I'm glad to see you smiling again, despite the situation at hand."

Lucy nodded, glancing back at Yui. "You okay?"

Yui nodded back, "Yeah, now I am."

Lucy hummed, fixing her eyes onto the wolves that were getting passed the others. She could see Shuu and Erza were preoccupied themselves, Shuu's hands punching and Erza swinging her swords. Without any other words, Loke took of with his fists lighting up and using Regulus Gatling Impact at wolves breaking free from the others.

Gripping her whip, she slashed it out at wolves who got too close to her and Yui. Her brown eyes were focused, watching the moves of the wolf that was haunching down in preparation to leap. Lucy could sense it, that these wolves were not normal. They were not from Earthland, having a similar feel of the Sakamaki's.

Familiars.

Yuma had once told her about familiars when she caught a weird looking bird following her on a mission that was S-class with Team Natsu. Half blood vampires couldn't summon them . but the higher up vampires, like pure-bloods or first-bloods, were able too. Yet when she asked about first-bloods, it was Ruki who told her it would be best if she dropped the subject. Seeing that it was a topic no one seemed to want to talk about, she complied knowing they would tell her if when they needed too.

Lucy was just about to call on her Leo star dress, ready to use that magic to fight the familiars. Why they were here, and attacking was beyond her. Lucy couldn't figure out who's they were, and the only answer she could get was Kino. He had been silent, and Lucy would admit she had finally relaxed out of the fear that he'd attack again.

Only this time it was the guild. Her family. Some of them didn't even know the truth of what she had brought with her, who they really were and for the first time guilt raced through her body. Yet as she wrapped the wolf with her whip as it lunged, flinging it against the wall she as Yui yelped.

Pivoting with speed Lucy didn't know she had, her brown eyes widen seeing three wolves slowly approaching Yui from the back kitchen- where a single window was and was forgotten. Everyone was preoccupied.

Natsu.

Shuu.

Erza.

Ayato.

Gray.

Kou.

It didn't help that half of the other stronger mages like Gajeel, Wendy, Juvia, Laxus and the Thunder God Tribe were all on their own missions at the moment. They were short people, even Master Makarov, who'd gone to a meeting in the capital. Even Ruki and Reiji were away at the clinics they worked at.

Seeing the wolves slowly lower themselves, snarling at Yui as if she were prey they couldn't wait to rip apart, Lucy didn't even think. Her mind went blank as her body reacted on instinct to protect the girl she swore to always protect no matter what. In perfect timing, Lucy had already leap over the bar, pushing Yui out of the way and to the side a good few feet away now.

Pain.

Searing hot pain ripped through Lucy so suddenly and it was all she could focus on as her mind snapped back into place. Her body fell, the floor was cool but it didn't matter as Lucy's eyes watched the wolves back up and retreat out of the guild. She could feel small hands on her, a voice calling out to her but the voice was just white noise. All the voices were white noise as everything around her became a blur of nothingness, slowly meshing into one and her world turning black.

I am so sorry for the delay in an update! With college and work it's hard finding time to write, and you all know I love writing these long chapters. I was also having trouble with this one, since I was tired of filler chapters and was ready to start the next arc of the story (I can only come up with so many fillers).

Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I do promise that you'll see character interactions, and I promise that this chapter was written a certain way so I could fulfill those interactions next chapter!

Please let me know your thoughts on this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it!
