Mutant Heart And Mutant Soul Chapter 15

My pregnancy was nearly at an end and the whole time Logan was treating me as if I would break. He was keeping me inside the mansion at all times now that my stomach was completely fast because of the baby. Logan was very worried about me going into premature labor and he wasn't the only one who thought this way about the situation. Whenever Logan wasn't around done of the others was always by my side. Logan didn't have to bribe them or anything they were all happy to do it. Most of the time I didn't like them following me around it was driving me crazy although there were at least some advantages to this new development. For instance Storm had used her powers to keep me cool whenever I got too hot and Kurt used his teleportation powers to get me some food everything I craved every time I craved something whenever he was with me. So as you can see there were some advantages but they were still driving me crazy.

There was still work to do for the baby's room. During the few months that passed we were working on the nursery for the baby adjoining it next to our room. Our design of the room was that of a girl. Well mine was anyway; after construction of the room was done I started to design the scenes for the walls of the place. Even though I thought my baby was going to be a girl we weren't sure what it was going to be yet so Logan was going to be a little pissed off by what I had done. While I was decorating the nursery I hadn't let Logan or anyone else in there in order to keep it a surprise so everyone was oblivious to what I was doing. Instead of painting it I used wallpaper to cover the walls. I gave the walls a nice flowery covering with come meadows on it.

I had finally finished making the baby's room and I was waiting for Logan to get back home. He was off on another one of his little trips again and he was just coming back home. I was outside with Silverwings tending to one of the gardens. I was planting some new seeds into the ground to help strengthen our gardens along with making them look more beautiful. I added in some more roses and lily's since they were my favorites. Silverwings was on my shoulder the whole time grooming his feathers and flapping his wings. It took a while before I noticed that anyone was watching me. I had gotten up on my feet because my legs were giving me a cramp from kneeling on the ground so much. I stood up straight and stretched my back to get the cramp out of it as well. I groaned as I did so and when I did I noticed someone watching from the shadows. I immediately recognize who is watching me. It was Logan.

He was watching me from the shadows leaning against a tree with a smile on his face. I smiled back at him and the two of us had the same loving look in our eyes. Silverwings peeped and flew off of my shoulder and onto Logans. Silverwings gently placed his claws on Logans shoulder and did a nice swift land. I slowly followed behind Silverwings, I couldn't move as fast as I used to with the baby in my stomach. Logan moved toward me as I walked over to him.

He said "I think you're taking it easy."

Logan said this with a trace of sarcasm in his voice.

I said "Gardening is one of the few things I can still do around here, Logan."

"We don't let you do much because of the baby, Honey. Once the baby is born you'll go back to doing your regular duties," said Logan.

"Speaking of the baby it's finished,: I said, smiling.

Logan raised an eyebrow at my words.

He said "You finished the nursery?"

"Of course I had to do something while you were away and you'll be the first one to see it," I said.

Without warning I grab his hands and pulled him in the direction of the mansion. Once inside the two of us headed upstairs into our living quarters. On our way up the two of us ran into Jubilee.

"Where are you off to in such a hurry," she said.

I said "I'm taking Logan up to the nursery it's finally finished."

"Mind if I come along? I haven't seen it yet either," she said.

"Sure come on," I said.

So I brought them all upstairs to the nursery although I had to have a little help up the stairs since the baby was weighing me down. It took the two of them to get me up the stairs in one piece. But a huge smile was on my face once we had gotten to the nursery.

"Ready to be amazed," I said.

Next moment I pushed open the door. Jubilee gasped when she saw it. The nursery was a sight to see. As has been said before the walls were covered in wallpaper filled with plenty of flowers and meadows. There was a medium sized bed in there for me so I could be there for the first few nights the baby was here. A crib was right under the newly made window in perfect view of the woods and the mansions gardens. Jubilee immediately ran in and jumped onto the bed.

"So cute," she shouted.

Clapping my hands in delight, I said "Isn't it?"

Jubilee now mimicked a little girl's voice. "Thank you, Mama," she said.

Logan chose that moment to come in and take a look for him and. When he did what he saw wasn't anything like what he expected. He looked at one of the walls and immediately his eyes widened.

"There are flowers all over the place," he said in a surprised voice.

Logan nearly shouted as he did so. At his words I turned to Logan with a hurt look on my face. Jubilee immediately spoke in my defense.

She said "That's fine. It looks ready cute. Like a princess's room."

But what Logan said next soon changed things.

He said "What are we gonna do if it's a boy?"

What he said shocked the two of us into silence. Jubilee was the one to break the silence by laughing. As for myself I was upset from what I just heard. I put my hands over the bulge of my stomach as I spoke and when I did my voice was full of distress.

"What are we gonna do? Somehow I always thought it was gonna be a girl," I said, distressed.

Jubilee manages to stop laughing for just a second to speak up her voice breaking.

"Then it's gonna be one for sure," she said and kept on laughing.

Logan brought his hand to his face.

He said "What made you think it's gonna be like that?"

He then headed for the door. I went straight over to him and put my hand on his arm.

"I'm sorry. I got carried away," I said.

Logan stopped walking and put his hand on my head and started stroking my hair.

He said "Don't worry changing the wallpaper is easy Just do your best to give birth to a girl."

I smiled at Logan and gave him a peck on the cheek. Jubilee smiled when she saw this and kept her silence this time. Logan gave me a kiss on the forehead and the two of us walked out of the room together. Silverwings flew after us not wanting to be left behind and Jubilee went to do her own thing somewhere else.

Logan took me to the kitchen to get me something to eat despite my protests. He knew I was hungry and so was the baby. Logan wanted to make a meal in order to fill me up but I convinced him to just give me something small. So Logan gave me some fruit and a cup of orange juice to clench the thirst which was building up inside of me. So He tried to offer me something more after I finished eating but I turned him down. Once I was done eating I patted my stomach in satisfaction. I think the baby was too because it was moving inside of me as I was patting my stomach.

"Thank you, Logan. The food was very good and I think the baby agrees too," I said.

Logan chuckled and that smile of his appeared back on his face.

"I'm glad, My Dear," he said, tenderly. Suddenly his face turned serious and his gaze turned down to my stomach. "The child sure is growing fast."

I brought my hands to the top and bottom of my stomach cradling the child inside.

"Yes it's almost time," I said. I winced a little bit the baby had just kicked the side of my stomach. "He's getting stronger."

"It's gonna have to be soon. The baby is getting far too big."

There was a worried note in his voice as he said this to me. Logan had good reason to be concerned. Even though I was a little bit over average height I was still quite small and having a large baby would put a great strain on my body. It could even kill me if the strain was too much. I gave Logan a reassuring smile and.

I said "Don't worry Logan I'll be fine and so will our baby."

At this I gave my love another reassuring smile and a peck on the cheek. I then took our plates and brought them to the sink to get cleaned up. Silverwings as usual went to eat all of the leftover crumbs from our meal.

When I was done washing and drying the dishes Logan and I left the kitchen with Silverwings. We went to where most of the others were hanging out today. The Professor was out today at a press conference with some of the others so the rest of us had the mansion left all to ourselves. Scott, Jean, Gambit, Rogue, and Nightcrawler were hanging out in one of the mansions living rooms so that's where we went. They were having some snacks in there. Scott and Jean were drinking some tea while Rogue and Gambit preferred their usual soda. Once we got inside Silverwings went to his usual perch over the fireplace. Logan and I sat down on a separate couch away from the others with tea in my hands and soda in Logans. Even though we were so much alike we were still different in so many ways. Including our choices of drinks we use. I laughed silently it myself when I saw Logans choice. My Logan did like tea but only on certain occasions.

Rogue said "So when do you guys think the Professor and the others will be back?"

"Probably not for another few hours that conference was going to keep him busy most of the day," Scott said.

Gambit said "No problem we have this place all to ourselves."

"As usual Storm and Beast went along too," Nightcrawler said.

Gambit said "No surprise there they always go along with him to these things."

"The friends of humanity show up at these things too. They're there to protect him and add to his discussions whenever they can," I said.

Logan said "She has a point there, Storm and Beast are a big help when it comes to debates."

"You agree with anything Silverstream says, Logan," argued Gambit, ducking a moment later because Logan threw his entire cup of soda straight at him and it splattered onto most of the rug.

This wasn't all that happened. At the same time Logan threw his cup at Gambit his elbow knocked into me.

"Whoops - oh no!" The cup I had left on the sofa tumbled to the side with the tea spilling out onto the pale fabric. Automatically even though three other hands beat me there I head bent over reaching out to catch it. Suddenly there was the strangest muffled ripping sound from the center of my body. "Oh," I gasped.

Logan and the others watched me when they heard my gasp. And then suddenly I went totally limp, slumping toward the floor. Rouge caught me in the same instant, before I could fall. Logan was there too, hands out with the mess on the sofa forgotten.

"Silver?" he asked.

Then my eyes unfocused and panic shot through my facial features. A half a second later, I screamed.

To everyone there it was not just a scream, it was a blood-curdling shriek of agony. The horrifying sound cut off with a gurgle, and my eyes rolled back into my head. My body twitched, arched in Rouges arms and then I vomited up a fountain of blood.

My entire body was streaming with red, started to twitch, jerking around in Rogues arms like I was being electrocuted. All the time my face was blank-unconscious. It was the wild thrashing inside my body that moved me. As I convulsed sharp snaps and cracks kept time with the spasms.

Everyone in the room was frozen for the shortest half second, and then they broke. Rogue whipped my body into her arms. She was shouting so fast it was hard to separate the individual words. She and the others shot out of the room with me all the way up to the emergency room.

"Morphine!" Logan yelled at Rogue.

"Nightcrawler, get Beast on the phone!" Rogue screeched.

The room they all went to was an emergency room. Instead of being set on a bed I was set on a table in the middle of the room. This was put here ahead of time so I could give birth to my baby. I was put on the table under the glare of the lights, skin ghostly in the spotlight. My body flopped, a fish on the sand. Rogue pinned me down, yanking and ripping my clothes out of the way, while Logan stabbed a syringe into my arm.

"What's happening Logan?"

"She's suffocating!"

"The placenta must have detached!"

Somewhere in this, I came around. I responded to their words with a shriek that clawed at their eardrums.

"Get her out!" I screamed. "She can't breathe! Do it now!"

Many of them saw the red spots pop out when my scream broke the blood vessels in my eyes.

"The morphine-," Logan growled.

"No! Now-!"

Another gush of blood chocked off what I was shrieking.

Logan held up my head, desperately trying to clear my mouth so that I would be able to breathe again.

Nightcrawler darted into the room and clipped a little blue earpiece under Rogues and Logans ear. Then Nightcrawler backed away his eyes wide, while Logan hissed frantically into the phone. To Logan in the bright light, my skin seemed more purple and black than it was white. Deep red was seeping beneath the skin over the huge, shuddering bulge of my stomach. Rogues hand came up with a scalpel.

"Let the morphine spread," Logan shouted.

"There's no time," Rogue hissed. "She's dying!"

Her hand came down on my stomach, and a vivid red spouted out from where she pierced the skin. It was like a bucket being turned over, a faucet twisted to full. I jerked, but didn't scream. I was still chocking. Suddenly Rogue went rigid where she was. Immediately Logan sprang into action.

"Get her out of here!" Logan shouted. "Take her outside and keep her there if she's going to be squeamish like this. Kurt, I need you!"

Nobody watched Gambit, Scott, and Jean leave the room with Rogue. The others wheeled back to the operating table, where I was turning blue, my eyes wide and unstaring.

"CPR," said Nightcrawler.

Logan growled "Yes!"

Logan left his position at my head and Nightcrawler took his place. Logan was judging Nightcrawlers face, looking for any sign it was going to be like Rogues. There was nothing there, but very calm eyes.

"Get her breathing! We've got to get him out before-."

Another shattering crack came from inside my body, the loudest yet, so loud that the two of them froze in chock waiting for an answering shriek from me. Nothing. My legs, which had been curled up in agony now went limp, sprawling out in an unnatural way.

"Her spine," Logan chocked out in horror.

"Get it out of her!" Nightcrawler snarled, uncharacteristically, flinging the scalpel at him. "She won't feel anything now!"

And then Nightcrawler bent over my head. My mouth looked clear, so he pressed his to mine and blew a lungful of air into it. He felt my twitching body expand, so there was nothing blocking my throat. To Kurt my lips tasted like blood. Kurt could hear my heart, thumping unevenly. Keep it going, he though fiercely at me, blowing another gust of air into my body. You promised. Keep your heart beating. Kurt heard the soft, wet sound of the soft wet sound of the scalpel around my stomach. More blood was dripping down to the floor.

Nightcrawler shuddered as he blew more air into my body. I coughed back at him, my eyes blinking, rolling blindly.

"You stay with me now, Silver!" Logan yelled. ""Do you hear me? Stay! You're not leaving me. Keep your heart beating!"

Kurt saw my eyes wheel around looking for Logan, or the baby, but seeing nothing. Kurt stared into them anyway, keeping his gaze locked there.

And then my body was suddenly still under his hands though my breathing picked up roughly and my heart continued to thud. Kurt realized the stillness meant that it was over. The internal beating was over, it must've been out of me. It was.

"A boy," Logan whispered.

Logan wasn't very surprised about this. He went through these things in his head. So Silver had been wrong. It wasn't the little girl she's imagined. No big surprise there. What hadn't she been wrong about?

Kurt turned his gaze back to my red spotted eyes, but he felt my hands lift weakly.

"Let me," I croaked in a broken whisper. "Give him to me."

Kurt should've known Logan was always going to give me whatever I wanted, no matter how stupid the request might be. Nightcrawler didn't dream Logan would listen to me now so he didn't think to stop him. Logan took the baby and gently placed the baby into my limp arms. Everyone in there couldn't look away from my face. I blinked and then stared as if I was finally seeing something. The sound they heard out of me was a strange weak croon.

"My son, so beautiful."

And then they heard me gasp-gasp in pain.

In less than a second Logan had snatched the warm, bloody thing out of my limp arms. Kurt's eyes flickered across my skin. It was red with blood, the blood that had flowed from my mouth. The blood smeared all over the creature, and fresh blood welling out of a tiny-double-crescent bite mark just over my left breast.

A moment later he looked back at me as my eyes rolled back into my head. With a last galumph my heart faltered and went silent.

I missed maybe half of one beat, and then Kurt's hands were on my chest, doing compressions. He counted in his head, trying to keep the rhythm steady. One. Two. Three. Four. Breaking away for a second, he blew another lungful of air into me. Kurt couldn't see anymore, his eyes were wet and blurry. But he was hyperaware of the sounds in the room. The unwilling glug-glug of my heart under his demanding hands, the pounding of his own heart, and another-a fluttering beat that was too fast, too light he couldn't place it. Logan forced more air down my throat.

Then suddenly Rogues voice was in the picture pushing aside her nausea.

"Logan, give me the baby," she said.

Logan and Kurt both looked at her at the same time. One. Two. Three. Four.

"It's all right, Logan," she promised. "Give me the baby, Logan. I'll take care of him until Silverstream is able."

Logan breathed for me again while the exchange took place. The fluttering thumpa-thumpa-thumpa faded away with distance.

"Move your hands, Nightcrawler," said Logan.

Kurt looked up from my white eyes, still pumping my heart for me. Logan had finally come to take over. Kurt moved out of the way and Logan took over where Kurt left off. Hopefully the two of them could keep me alive until Hank got back.

At least they hoped so.

Authors Note:

Glad each and every one of you had a Merry Christmas, my friends! Here is your belated present for the holiday! Glad you can enjoy it as I have writing it. And, let's not forget, have a Happy New Year!

September 11th has come and gone once again. I was very young when it happened. Don't know about all of you, but I certainly was really scared. One minute I was at elementary school in class and the next my parents are pulling me out, taking my little sister and I home. That's when we learned the truth. The Twin Towers we'd see all the time whenever we traveled outside the city limits on road trips would no longer be there. We were stunned when we'd seen them destroyed on TV. Those trips were never the same again just like the lives of millions. In honor for the people that fell that day and to those still struggling to survive from the aftermath I suggest a moment of respective silence. I think we all can use that.

Hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

I've been meaning to get back to this one for a while and only now I've managed to find time and inspiration for it. I'm very satisfied and happy about it.

Big time heads up! Article 13 is on the move again. Our freedom of speech is seriously on the line. Find a legitimate petition that is fighting this decision and sign onto it. Every signature counts to keep what we love alive.

I recently put up some other works I've put out at titled Secret Of Bristol Cove, The Presidents Wife, Predators Redemption, A Revolutionary Romance, Fantine Tezla: Hot Wheels Acceleracers, Magic And the Brave Little Toaster 1, Lavinia: Princess Of Edelweiss, Rorschach's Legend, Watchmen Meets Avengers: The Newest Defender, The 8th Loser, Naomi Poldark: Mistress Of Nampara, Serenity: End Guardian To The Moors, Dido Cruger: Power Rangers SPD, and Nuala: The White Lioness. I highly recommend them. ;D

By the way Rorschach's Legend, the Vinsmoke Bride, The Presidents Bride, Mandalorian: The 2nd Foundling, Eira Byrnison, and Watchmen Meets Avengers: The Newest Defender are the newest additions to my profile. If you're a fan of the Golden Compass and Watchmen which are the new series on HBO then you will love these. Then if you haven't saw them yet then I recommend that you check it out. Since there are still just recently uploaded I really would enjoy hearing other peoples thoughts on the subject matter so far. So feel free to do so if you have the time.

I have other grand news! I was a patron at New York Comic Con! Ah! I'd been dying to go for years and now I had the opportunity. The Jokers from Impractical Jokers have been here along with Tom Hiddleston and so many others. Over those few days I actually got my picture taken with a couple of other actors/actresses and some really great panels. It really is so exciting there. This is an opportunity of a lifetime so there's no way in hell that I was going to waste a single second of it. No one ever should with something like this. Ever! ;D

For future preferences I highly recommend that you all keep an eye out for when tickets for New York Comic Con are available for purchase again for next year. This is a huge event and you should jump on it whenever you have the chance.
