Mutant Heart And Mutant Soul Chapter 18
It was time the wedding was finally here. Well actually it was actually the next day but it was practically here. The bachelor and bachelorette parties were finished and we were all going to bed early so we could get an early star tomorrow. Van already had a big meal of milk and meat so he wasn't going to eat anything else until the next day. I decided to sleep with Logan since I didn't have to feed Van for the rest of the night. Unfortunately for me I couldn't really get to sleep. I was still worried about Sinister showing up tomorrow.
Logan was still awake too and he sensed my discomfort so he quickly went to calm me. He wrapped his arms around me in the bed and pulled me to him.
"Sleep, My Love, tomorrow is a big day," I said.
I let out a sigh at his words.
"I will try but I don't know if I can," I said.
Logan gently stroked my hair and murmured softly into my ear.
"Sleep, Silverstream," he said.
Against my worries I eventually fell asleep at his stroking of my hair and the whispers in my ear. Logan fell asleep too not long after I did.
All too soon for me the sun was up and it was morning. I woke up a little sleep at first so I stretched myself out to try and shake it off. I turned my body expecting to find Logan still asleep next to me but all I found was empty space. The only thing I found was a beautiful flower and brought it to my nose. It had the most beautiful scent. I then picked up the note and read what was there.
I can't wait to marry you.
I smiled at what was written there. At that moment I heard Van waking up next door so I got out of bed and went into the nursery. Just when I picked Van up from his crib there was a knock on the bedroom door next door.
"I'm in the nursery," I said.
A few seconds later the door to the nursery opened and in walked Jubilee. She still had her pajamas on, but she did have on a facemask and some curlers.
She said "Good you're up. I was just coming to wake you. Do you have any idea what time it is?"
"Sure it's about seven o'clock," I said.
She said "Wrong it's nearly ten."
I almost dropped the baby at what she said.
"Why didn't anyone wake me up," I said.
"Some of us thought you were already awake," she said.
I growled and went running out of the nursery holding Van in my arms. With my new found speed I had reached the dressing room that was set up for me and my bridesmaids in less than a second. Jean, Storm, and Rogue were already there getting ready. Rogue looked up when she saw me suddenly appear inside the room.
Rogue said "Well now it's about time you got up. Some of us were wondering if you were going to miss your own wedding."
I sat Van down on a nearby chair and immediately went to work while the others and Silverwings looked after Van.
The showers were next door so I jumped into one and started to wash myself off. Just as I had started to take my shower Jubilee came panting into the dressing room. It seemed that she was trying to keep up with me before to no avail. As soon as she appeared inside the doorway she didn't rest for a second Jubilee immediately went back to getting ready for the wedding. Once I was out of the shower I went straight to doing my makeup. Jean was finished getting ready so she was keeping Van occupied for me at the moment. While I was doing my makeup Storm was helping me with my hair. With her wind powers she could make my hair dry a lot faster than it normally would.
As for the men they were all getting the ceremony and party ready downstairs before it was time. You see Logan and I were having the ceremony here at the mansion. The caterers were starting to arrive with the food and the cake. The musicians were arriving with their instruments. The Professor was supervising everything for the wedding today. The florist was here as well as setting up flowers all over the place. The flowers chosen for this day were rose, orchids, lily's, and tulips all of my favorite flowers. Smiles were all around, this was an extremely happy day.
Beast and Scott were setting up flowers together above the alter. Beast let out a small sigh.
He said "Ah weddings such a joyous occasion on these kinds of days."
"Yeah I know what you mean Beast but it's still hard to believe that Wolverine is the one getting married today. To be quite honest I never thought of his as the marrying type," said Scott.
Beast agrees, nodding his head at what Scott said.
Beast said "Yes that was a surprise but it is good to see him finally happy. I've never seen him this happy before."
The two of them looked at where Logan was talking to the Professor. Logan was smiling a lot more than usual and this was unusual for him. At that moment Logan said something to the Professor and walked out of the hall.
"It is a good sight to see him like this after all these years with him looking so grim," Beast said.
Morph who was doing some more decorating close by them heard what Beast said and he chose that moment to speak up.
He said "You mean like this."
Morph spoke in my Logan's voice and took on his form. He looked so grim there so he did look like how Logan used to be before I came along and broke into his heart although Logan played his part a little too well. Morph made the face of Logan extremely grim that it looked so funny and the three of them just burst out laughing.
In the mean time Logan headed for the dressing room where I was still getting ready. Jubilee, Jean, Rogue, and Storm were finished getting ready for the ceremony and were helping me finish preparing for it. They were just helping me fix up my hair when he knocked on the door and announced that he was coming in. My bridesmaids literally went into hysterics when they heard this from him.
"You can't see the bride before the wedding it's bad luck," Rogue said.
She leaned into the door for emphasis to stop Logan from coming in.
"I won't look at her. I'll close my eyes," he promised.
Rogue opened the door slightly to see if he was telling the truth and when she saw that he was she opened the door all the way. Logan walked in through the door with his eyes sill closed.
"Silver," Logan said in a questioning tone.
I had walked over to him without saying anything and put my hand over his eyes.
"You may say you won't open your eyes but I don't trust you," I said in a teasing voice.
With what I said I gave him a kiss on the lips.
When I was done Logan said "Things are ready for the ceremony it's almost tine."
"Well then get back down there and wait for me and take Van down there with you," I said.
I picked Van up and put him in his father's arms. I then turned Logan around and pushed him out the door.
"Now go, go I'll be out soon. Silverwings, you go with them," I said.
Silverwings didn't make any protests she just flew out the door and followed Logan as he walked away with Van. Rogue closed the door and the others started helping me get into my wedding dress.
In the mean time the preparations for the wedding were done and the guests were starting to arrive in their cars. Others were arriving in rented limos just for the occasion today. Friends were arriving all over the place for this event. Many of the guests were good friends of Logans and the x-men. Some were ones I had never even met before the wedding. As my friends were greeting the guests an unexpected group came which made the atmosphere become very uneasy. Gambit was the first one to spot them and informed the others.
"Oh boy," he said. He then turned to the others who were with him. "Look who's here."
They all looked at the direction he was referring to and none of them were happy with what they saw. It was my parents and other members of the family along with some old family friends.
Nightcrawler said "What are they doing here?"
"Who invited them," Logan said.
He was very angry at seeing them here only having Van in his arms restrained him from going over there.
"I did."
They all turned to find the Professor coming toward them in his hover chair.
Beast said "Was it wise to invite them Professor. Our last encounter with them didn't go so well."
"They deserve to be at their daughter's wedding no matter what they've done," Charles said. Logan said
"Do you have any idea what this will do to Silverstream when she sees them here."
"I hate to admit it, but he's right we don't know what effect this will have on her," Scott said.
Charles said "There's nothing we can do about it now. We'll just have to let them in and hope for the best."
Everyone was silent for a few seconds until it was broken by Scott.
He said "We'll have to seat them in the far back. It'll be harder for her to notice them that way."
"Agreed," Charles said.
Scott, Morph, and Beats immediately set to work at bringing my former family to their seats. Some of the members of this group started at seeing mutants coming toward them especially when it came to Beast. Remember people in my family and hometown resented mutants so this was going to be difficult for most of them today. When the rest of them went inside some of them even flinched when they saw Nightcrawler but they held in their screams. My ex-family was seated all the way in the back away from the front of the alter. Once all of the guests had arrived the Professor pressed a small button on his hover chair. That button reactivated the security settings of the mansion to protect us in case anyone dared to attack us during this wedding.
It was time.
Everyone took their positions around the alter well the men at least. Logan stood at the head of the alter with the priest with his best man at his side, Nightcrawler. Now all that was needed was me, the bride. Then suddenly the music started up and everyone got up from their seats to turn toward the doorway. Through the doorway came walking in one at a time at a slow easy pace. Jubilee came first with Rogue, Storm, and Jean following close behind. Once they were in and had taken their positions that were when I came in.
Besides the music everyone was completely quiet. All eyes were all on me but I had eyes for only one man in the room. Logan and I had eyes only for each other and we wouldn't point our gaze at anyone else. The two of us smiled at each other as I was walking down to him. I noticed Van sitting with Beast laughing and clapping having the time of his life. Silverwings was with them too perched on Beasts shoulder and as usual cleaning and fluffing up her feathers. At last I had reached the end of the aisle and into Logan's arms. He holds me there for a few moments while everyone else looked on.
After Logan and I came back to reality we continued with the ceremony. Everyone took their seats again and the priest started to speak to all of us. It wasn't long before we finally came to the part where we said our vows. A lot of people were crying their then including me but the tears coming down my face were ones of pure joy and happiness.
"Do you Logan take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
Smiling, Logan said "I do."
The priest now turned to me.
"And do you, Silverstream, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband till death do you part," he said.
Smiling, I said "I do."
The grin on Logan's face grew enormous when I said those two words.
With our vows now said it was time to make it official. The priest turned back to Logan.
"The rings if you please," he said.
Logan turned to Nightcrawler and Kurt dropped his ring into his hand. A moment later Logan slipped the ring onto my ring finger and I slipped mine onto his. A moment later the priest said the words we were all waiting for.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," announced the Priest.
And that is just what we did. Logan wrapped me up in his arms and drew me to him and as he did so I wrapped my arms around his neck. Less than a second later the two of us kissed. At the same time everyone got up from their seats to start cheering and clapping. Van was brought over to us and we both gave him a big hug. Silverwings was flying around our heats twittering madly in happiness.
It didn't take long before everyone had left the room and into another part of the mansion where the party really started. When that happened people came up to me and Logan to give us their congratulations. Many of them were just good friends of the x-men. Colossus was here and was all smiles. A few friends of the Professors friends from Scotland had come to the wedding as well. Before Logan had joined the x-men all those years ago he was on another team and he seemed to have invited them here.
I was very happy to see many of the ones who were there today but there was one group I wasn't too happy to be. My parents came up along with the other members of my old family. I frowned when I saw them in front of me.
"Hello, Honey," my mother said.
I didn't have anything to say to my mother.
I just held Van closer and tighter to my body. One of my cousins came up to me trying to look nice but she wasn't fooling me.
"It's good to see you again, Silverstream. It has been a while," she said.
Contemptuously, I said "Apparently not long enough, Gwen."
Feeling my discomfort and hearing the tone in my voice Van brought his hand up to my face. Van was asking me, more like demanding what was making me so upset. I looked down at Van and gave him a kiss on the head.
"Nothing for you to be concerned about, Darling," I told him.
It was then that they took notice of my baby. Their eyes widened when they saw him.
"Oh who is this," my mother said.
I said "My son."
They weren't expecting that, they started at what I said.
Gwen said "What's his name?"
"Van," I said.
My father was the next one to speak up.
He said "Is he a…"
I never gave him a chance to finish the question because I answered it before he could.
"Yes, Father, he is a mutant just like me and my husband," I said with coldness in my voice.
Logan knowing I was really starting to get angry went and fixed the problem. He spoke to my former family.
He said "Move along. You are holding up the line."
My former family moved off but they weren't too happy about it. As soon as they left others came up to take their place.
When everyone had given us their congratulations I pulled Logan away and spoke to him with some fury in my voice.
"Who invited them here, Logan," I demanded, talking about my former family.
Logan sighed at what I said and quickly went to explain the situation to me.
He said "The Professor was the one who invited them here, Silver. Their appearance here surprised us too," he said. I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly.
Shaking my head, I said "As long as they stay out of my way we won't have a problem. But restrain me if they come too close so I don't attack them."
Logan nodded his head at my statement.
He said "I understand. It was a good thing I had Van in my arms when I first saw them or I would've just attacked them right there." This made me smile and the anger on my face was replaced back with joy. The two of us now went back out our business with Van with us.
It was soon time for dinner and all of us took our seats and the food was served out to us. Fortunately for me the seating arrangements had been changed minutes before everyone took their seats. My former family had been set up far away from where I was sitting which was fine with me. I didn't even look at them but they looked at me plenty of times. I knew this because Logan kept throwing angry glances at then whenever they did. Besides the table where they were sitting there was a lot of laughter and fun in the room. The dancing just brought out even more laughter and joy. Everyone clapped and smiled when Logan and I went on the dance floor to dance one dance alone. Once that dance was over the cake was brought out. As soon as it was brought into place Logan and I went over to cut off the first peace. The two of us cut and passed out pieces of cake to everyone who wanted one. When my family came up I let Logan give them some cake while I just avoided their eyes.
The cake was a big success everybody loved it. Van was a little out of hand when it came to the cake. Van had stuffed his face so much that cake covered the entire lower half of his face and a little bit on top. Van laughed as he did so, he was having a lot of fun this day. Only I was just about to cut it short for him. Just as he was about to put another big piece in his mouth I stopped him. I grabbed his arm before he was able to do what he wanted.
I said "Put it down Van you've had enough cake for one night."
I brought out a wet napkin and cleaned off his face. But I had to force open his little hands to take the cake out of them. Van started to cry when I took the cake away from him, he really liked his cake. So I quickly went to calm him down by giving him something else to eat. I picked some peas and tried to give it to him on a fork. Unfortunately for me carrots weren't really on my sons menu for the night. I brought the peas to Van trying to get him to eat it but he shook his head.
Van shouted "No!"
"Yes," I said. Van shook his head again. "No peas," he said.
I said "Carrots are good for you. Logan."
I turned to my husband hoping to have his help on this.
"Eat your peas, Van. They'll help you learn to fly."
"Oh that's great lie to the kid," I said, sarcastically.
I said this but Van did eat his carrots with a bit of reluctance. Once he was done eating his carrots I gave him some grapes as a reward and Van took them gratefully. I also gave a grape to Silverwings who was behaving so well. As soon as I provide Silverwings the grape she gulped it right down.
The wedding was almost over and it was time for one more thing to do. I had to throw the bouquet. All of my lady friends were in place.
"Ready girls," I said.
All of the unmarried girls were in a large group. Jubilee nudged through the entire group to get to the front.
"No fair flying, Rogue," she said.
Rogue lifted Jubilee up with one hand and placed her in a certain spot.
"Girl you're too young to be catching bouquets," Rogue said.
Once I knew everyone was ready I turned my back to them and threw the bouquet into the air. All of the girls squealed and raise their arms as it flew toward them. It soon landed into the group of girls and Rogue was the one to catch it. All of the girls smiled and giggle clapping when they saw this.
Rogue had a sad look on her face.
"Load of good it'll do me," she said.
The wedding was now over and it was time for Logan and me to leave on our honeymoon. Van and Silverwings were coming with us we didn't want to leave them behind. Logan and I ran out of the mansion with Logan in between us and Silverwings flying right above our heads. As we flew right out bird seed was thrown at us and people are yelling wishing us well.
Gambit had fixed up our car for us when we had to leave for our honeymoon. Gambit moved away from the car as we came over and got into it.
"Gambit fixed their car good," he said to Beast.
Once we were all strapped into our seats and Van was settled in we were on our way. To me this night couldn't get better. Only this night it didn't get better, it got worse.

I have other grand news! I was a patron at New York Comic Con! Ah! I'd been dying to go for years and now I had the opportunity. The Jokers from Impractical Jokers have been here along with Tom Hiddleston and so many others. Over those few days I actually got my picture taken with a couple of other actors/actresses and some really great panels. It really is so exciting there. This is an opportunity of a lifetime so there's no way in hell that I was going to waste a single second of it. No one ever should with something like this. Ever! ;D
For future preferences I highly recommend that you all keep an eye out for when tickets for New York Comic Con are available for purchase again for next year. This is a huge event and you should jump on it whenever you have the chance.
