Siriusly In Love

Even if he's disguised his handwriting, Sirius recognises it. He also notices the way Remus shifts in his seat, trying to appear as though he's not watching, though amber eyes keep darting his way. Remus isn't as discreet as he thinks he is, but Sirius says nothing. He thinks it's adorable. Though he thinks everything about Remus is adorable.

His four cards are spread out on the table. He's not sure how many Peter or James have. He lost track of every thing when he saw the card that could be from his secret love. He did notice that Remus only has one and part of him is furious.

The other part is relieved.

He doesn't understand how people don't fall over themselves to get Remus' attention. But it also means that there are less people to hold grudges against.

He leaves that card for now. He wants to get the others out of the way - he wants to save the best until last.

He doesn't recognise the writing on the other three but glances around anyways, smiling politely. Only James knows where Sirius' heart truly belongs. Soon everyone will know though. He notices students whispering to friends, their own eyes darting around. Some are reading their own cards.

Finally he reaches for the last one, noticing a bump. He takes the card out first, his eyes widening as he does. The card is hand-made. He also notices that Remus has stilled completely and looks even more nervous.

Sirius' eyes dart over the card. There's a beautiful golden heart on a red background that shimmers in the light. Inside of the heart is a little message.

Sirius hopes more than anything that this is from Remus.

I'm Siriusly in love with you.

Sirius stares for a long moment before opening it.

You are my everything.

Barely anything to go on, but Sirius is certain now that this is from Remus. His friend looks like he's about to have a panic attack any moment. He's not even pretending he's not watching.

Sirius stands the card on the table carefully before reaching back into the envelope and taking out the little chocolate heart. He smiles. Of course Remus would give chocolate.

"Remus, would you like to go to Hogsmeade today with me?" He pauses. "Wait. Let me clarify - would you like to go there with me... on a date. As my boyfriend?"

He's terrified in the moments that follow. What if he's wrong? What if Remus never sent the card?

But Remus nods. "Yes to everything," he says so quietly, so shyly. "I'm glad... glad you like the card I made." His cheeks are red and he's not meeting Sirius' gaze. Sirius gets it - Remus has put himself out there and that's a hard thing to do, even if the results are positive. So he's going to try and do the same to put Remus at ease.

"Before we go, I have yours upstairs. I hid it underneath my pillow. I... I also have the ones I was too scared to send for the previous three years."

Remus looks up. "Wait, you've been writing me cards for four years?"

"I've been too scared to send them," Sirius admits. "Just so you know: I'm Siriusly in love with you too."
