Chapter 22: Trust Me
He had felt jealousy before, but he was really only angry and not entirely jealous when it came to Raditz or other Saiyan men. He always had a safe guard in knowing that if he needed to he could order the Saiyan men to step down. In fact he could order anyone to step down. He was the Saiyan Prince. But Yamcha was different. He didn't like nor trusted him in any way shape or form. And he knew that he would have to go beyond giving an order to keep him away from his Woman. Death was the only option. So yes he hated to admit it but he was actually jealous. But that's not what really got under his skin, the thing that really clawed at his nerves wasn't the way that Yamcha was looking at Bulma, but it was the way that Bulma was looking at Yamcha. And the sweet innocent smile she gave to that dog of an Earthling actually made him feel threatened.
And that ticked him off.
He thought he would find some pleasure in squeezing his neck, slamming him against the tree, or even seeing the fear across his face, but none of those things were enough. No, he wouldn't be satisfied until he was completely soaked in his blood and his ears ringing with that perfect harmony of the dog's screams.
"STOP IT VEGETA!"
He glanced to see his "wife" desperately pulling on his arm. If she thought it would help the dog she was dead wrong.
"What. Are. You. Doing?" He bit out.
Bulma had panic in her eyes as she looked at Yamcha's purple face and then back to Vegeta. "You can't kill him."
Vegeta barked out a laugh. "Oh I am more than able. Have you ever seen a head explode off a body? If you put the right amount of pressure on the neck it makes an interesting sound."
Bulma was even more horrified. "Vegeta please don't kill him."
Vegeta completely turned his head to her at that. "Why? Do you want his attentions that badly? Finally have an Earthling male and you want to try him out?"
Bulma was rattled and she knew that a man's life was literally in her hands, but she was going about this all wrong. She tenderly touched Vegeta's shoulder and looked him dead in the eye and said, "I told you before that I would never hurt you. I meant that."
Vegeta stared at her for what seemed like an eternity, his expert emotionless mask was on tightly as Bulma could not gage what his next move would be.
With a thud Vegeta dropped Yamcha to the ground. The Earthling male was trying to catch up on his loss of oxygen as he breathed loudly and deeply.
Vegeta stood his ground completely ignoring the disturbed human and glared toward his wife. "I told you before that I am not an emotional fool." He then turned to the human whose face was still a bright shade of red. "Leave. Now."
Yamcha glanced between the couple and with an added nod from Bulma he stumbled to his feet not really wanting to leave his princess with this raving lunatic but he had little choice plus she seemed to be able to get through to him. He barely bowed and then made his way out of the garden.
Bulma sighed when he left and opened her mouth to speak but Vegeta grabbed her arms silencing her. "Why were you with him? I told you that you would not see him and you went to my mother-"
"She came to me."
"The results are the same. Why?"
"I wanted to see him. The Queen told me-"
"The Queen told you? Since when are you two talking buddies?"
Bulma gritted her teeth trying to keep her own anger down. "She told me that the only reason why you didn't want me to see Yamcha was because you were jealous."
Vegeta brought Bulma closer to him where their faces were almost touching. "Let's get one thing straight; if I had my way, I would lock you in a tower where no man other than myself would ever come in contact with you. You are mine and belong only to me. So in truth I don't want you to meet any man. But none of that has anything to do with you showing some trash affection that should only be given to me!" He yelled that last part as he let her go and turned away from her.
Bulma's heart was pounding and she touched her arms where he had roughly grabbed her. "I am not your property Vegeta!"
"Don't change the subject!" He whirled back around. "Your smiles, your giggles, your blushing cheeks are reserved for me!"
"Oh so I can't smile or laugh with anyone? Do you have any idea how crazy you sound?!"
"YOU ARE MAKING ME CRAZY! You will not see him again and that is final!"
"After you paraded Chaya in my face-"
"I didn't have my memories!"
"But you didn't seem to care about my feelings when your mother brought her around afterwards. I just had to 'deal' with it and prove how 'strong' I am. But as soon as you are put into a position that makes you uncomfortable then the whole planet has to stop."
"That's right. I have the right to do so. Let's not forget which one of us is actually royalty and who has been playing make-believe. Don't forget your place."
Bulma felt that more than she heard it. "And what place is that Vegeta? As your wife or your concubine?"
Vegeta didn't want to say what his anger was telling him to say so he turned his back and said nothing. Bulma only nodded sadly and walked away leaving him alone to his thoughts…that is until his mother came in. She had been secretly been watching the whole thing. She knew it would only be a matter of time before Vegeta would have found Bulma especially after she had dismissed Turles from guarding Bulma. She knew he would go and tell Vegeta and she couldn't have hoped for a better scene for him to walk in on. Well, the best would have been if Yamcha was mating her but she will take any victories she could.
"How is married life son?"
Vegeta's shoulders tightened. "Not now Mother."
The Queen shrugged and walked up beside him. "Look I'm not going to pretend I didn't know what was going to happen because I know that you know that I planned the whole thing."
Vegeta knew he was going to regret it but he asked anyways. "And your point was?"
"To show you that eventually everyone wants their own kind. She will want an Earthling whether it will be Yamcha or not and you will want a Saiyan. Your father even said that he didn't mind you mating Bulma and that you could eventually change the law as King and mate a Saiyan woman as well."
"I don't care what either of you say. Bulma is mine and I will have no other...neither will she." Vegeta said with an air of finality.
The Queen only smiled. "I hope that is true. I hope you prove me wrong. Because if there is a small chance that I am right, I would rather you hand her over to her people before she gives you a scar much deeper than your other ones."
Vegeta's power level began to rise along with his anger. He wouldn't have as many scars if it wasn't for the fact that his parents handed him over to their enemy. She had no right to bring that up!
The Queen saw that she was at the very end of her son's anger and decided to leave. "I know you can't stand me sometimes Vegeta but I will not allow you to be hurt again."
"Leave. Now."
The Queen left him then with a satisfied smile on her face and hoped for the future…
Bulma felt like she was suffocating from her argument with Vegeta and needed to get away from the Palace walls. She couldn't go far so she found herself gravitating to the last place where she felt desperate and lost. She stood there for a while looking at the docking bay before going out to the specific spot where she had jumped off to get Vegeta's memories back. She could tell that Turles was watching her. She didn't see him, but she could feel his watchful eyes. She chose to ignore him and went to the edge and looked down. She still couldn't believe she actually had jumped before. It was frightening to look so far down, but she took comfort in knowing that someone was nearby to catch her if she fell. She sighed with frustration then slowly lowered herself down and allowed her feet to dangle as she watched the sky.
"You're not going to jump are you?"
Bulma smiled and looked over her shoulder at Turles. "Why was I making you nervous?"
Turles shrugged his shoulders and sat down next to her. "I would just prefer to know so that I don't have to waste energy and fly when I can just grab you and pull you back up."
Bulma didn't respond and silence was left between them until Bulma asked a question that nearly made Turles stumble off the edge.
"Do you see me as Vegeta's whore?"
"That is not my place to-"
"Cut the crap. Do you?"
"No." Turles said uncomfortable.
"Well then what do you see me as?"
"Why does it matter?" he growled annoyed.
"Because I want to know."
"I see you as Vegeta's woman. I don't see any other female doing to him what you have so in my eyes you are already mated."
Bulma took in his words and nodded.
"But you already know this."
"I know, but sometimes it's just nice to hear."
Turles frowned in confusion. This Earthling didn't make any sense. Why would anyone need facts repeated to them?
"I know that Vegeta cares for me. Loves me even. But he doesn't trust me…there is no need for him to be so jealous if he knows he already has me. So the only answer is that he believes that I'm going to leave him or hurt him. But what else do I have to do to get him to see that I am not his mother?"
Turles felt like banging his head against the dock. "I don't know. I don't even know why you are talking to me about any of this!" He said frustrated.
Bulma laughed a little. "Because Vegeta is making you 'watch' me and if you're going to be stalking me then you might as well be useful and become my emotional punching bag."
"I knew this would be torture."
"Ha! Consider this payback for all of your creepy stalking habits!"
"I was following orders!"
"And you still are. You are now becoming my new BFF while Chichi is on pregnancy leave. Good job. Now what to do with Vegeta?"
Turles buried his head in his hands. "I wish I was with him right now than sitting here."
"With him doing what?"
"He is no doubt in serious training mode. That's where he goes when he's stressed. If I was there he would be pounding me into the ground but even that is better than listening to you spew out your silly emotions!" He snapped.
Bulma blinked at him then gave him a hug. "Oh you just gave me a great idea! Thanks Turles!"
He shrugged her off and was tempted to throw her mood changing crazy self over the edge. "Whatever."
"Come on. I have to go to my room to change then meet up with Vegeta."
Turles was about to ask her if she thought that was a good idea but he decided that Vegeta and Bulma were probably the only ones that could deal with the other's crazy…
About 30 minutes later…
Vegeta was flipping, punching, and kicking his imaginary opponent in his gravity chamber with frustrated anger. The whole day had been the most annoying in his existence. He didn't believe it could get worse.
Then his gravity stopped and sent him crashing to the ceiling then falling back down to the ground immediately afterward.
He groaned as he got up and wondered what on the planet just happened when his wife walked in. He angrily stood up and stormed over to her, knowing that she was behind it. "What in the world is wrong with you? Turn the machine back on now!"
Bulma only smiled at him and sat down a towel. It was then that he noticed her wearing blue spandex and sparring shoes. "I will in a moment. But I couldn't walk in here with it on now could I?"
"What are you doing in here?"
"You said you would teach me how to fight remember?"
"I am not in the mood. Turn the machine back on and leave."
"No. Not until we move past this."
Vegeta threw his hands up in the air. "I said what I said Woman. I am not taking it back."
"I know how you feel but you don't know I feel."
"Emotional foolishness. I have had my fill of it."
Bulma ignored him and went on. "I trust you Vegeta. I trust you completely more than I could ever trust any other person. But you don't trust me."
"What are you talking about now?"
"Why would you ever think I would want Yamcha when I have you?"
Vegeta gritted his teeth. "That is not that point."
Bulma stepped up to him and touched his skin. She traced a scar and looked deeply into his eyes. "I would never give you one of these."
"I told you before-"
"No." Bulma said silencing him by kissing him on his lips firmly shutting him up. "I am not your mother. You will never despise me one day because I left you. I am yours forever and you are mine. Only death can separate us and even then I would try to find you on the other side."
Vegeta shook his head and stepped away from her. "You do not have to tell me such things."
Bulma smiled again. "I know but it's still nice to hear."
"Woman I am not-"
"I know you are not some emotional fool. But still I was thinking that I have placed my life in your hands plenty of times. But the shoe has yet to be on the other foot." She ended by walking away.
Vegeta raised a curious eyebrow at what she meant. She walked over to where she sat down her towel and picked up a capsule that he had not noticed she came in with. She uncapsulized it and a remote with a single red button and two silver bracelets appeared. She placed the bracelets on and held the remote up.
"This remote is a gravity remote. It can change the gravity in any gravity training room."
"Why is there only one button?"
"Good question. This button puts it on its maximum setting."
Vegeta crossed his arms annoyed. "So? I train in its highest setting all the time."
"I know 150. But this magical button makes it go all the way up to 1000."
"Impossible." He gasped.
"Nope. That's what this was made for. Look at my face, you can tell that I'm not lying."
Vegeta did and knew that she was telling the truth.
"Now these fancy bracelets keeps the gravity from affecting me. It'll be like nothing has happened in this room if I wear this."
Vegeta narrowed his eyes. "What are you getting at?"
"Well you are training in 150 times Vegeta's gravity. You haven't demanded an upgrade which means you haven't fully mastered it yet. So 1000 times gravity will more than likely kill you or do some serious harm."
Vegeta shifted his feet not sure what she was saying. "And?"
"And here is a great opportunity for someone to get rid of you if they wanted to. I mean I could press this button and leave with Yamcha and you wouldn't be able to do a thing about it. So what's it going to be Vegeta? Are you going to trust me not to push the button or do you believe that I would actually do it and leave you?"
Vegeta's instincts immediately told him to run fast and take the remote away from her or blast it out of her hand, potentially harming her. But another part knew that she would never and it was that part that was so hard to listen to. He has never put his life in anyone's hand. He took care of himself and didn't need anyone. But now this question was placed right in front of him, a question that he now knew could be a tipping point in his relationship; does he trust Bulma?
Bulma was trying to look confident but the longer he stood there the more anxious she got. If he made a move and destroyed the remote then she knew her journey was going to be a lot harder than she originally thought. 'Say it Vegeta. Please…'
Vegeta sighed and then shook his head. "You and your frivolous games. I do not believe you will press the button."
"Why not?"
"Because you don't have it in you to kill me."
"Is that the only reason?"
"I don't believe you will hurt me."
"Because…"
"You infuriating Woman, because I TRUST YOU ALRIGHT! Are you happy now?"
Bulma ran into his arms and he easily caught her but still fell backwards as she showered his face with butterfly kisses. "It's just a prototype and doesn't even work!" She said in between kisses.
"You manipulative vixen." He murmured as he caught her lips in a sultry kiss.
He rolled her over and she couldn't help but giggle. "I did want you to show me some moves."
"I have a few in mind." He said suggestively.
Bulma kissed him again. "I love you."
He gently moved a stray hair that fell across her cheek back to the side and framed her face. "I know…and I do not see you as my whore. You could never be that."
Bulma smiled already knowing the response he was about to give but she wanted to hear it anyways. "So what am I to you then?"
Vegeta smirked and kissed her softly. "You're my Woman."
Bulma Kissed him again more than satisfied with his answer then and from earlier. One step at a time. That's all she needed to change him…to change everything…
Later...
Yamcha met up with Krillian and went around the capital multiple times to confuse any trackers that were more than likely following them. Krillian was more than freaked out when he saw Yamcha. The guy's neck was about ten different colors and he couldn't really speak. He only raspy whispered, "We gotta go!"
Now that they were deep inside the alien district on the outskirts they both felt a little safer. Krillian rang his hands together then looked up to the sky for the millionth time. "Do you think it's clear?"
Yamcha swallowed his sandy throat and groaned in pain before answering. "No. We can't go to the others just yet." He was angry that he couldn't explain himself any further. But his windpipes were begging for rest and Krillian would just have to trust him. He knew they were still being watched. The Prince was too much of a maniac for them not to be.
Krillian sighed. "Well if we can't go back to base then where should we go?"
Yamcha suddenly got an idea and motioned for Krillian to follow him. They continued to walk through the alien district until they found the most jam packed, busiest place there was, 'Chichi's'.
Krillian's eyes got big when he saw where they were going. Even though Kakarot had bought his wife a new restaurant, this one was still open until the new one was ready. But if they wanted to stay clear of any more trouble with the Saiyans then this was almost as bad as hanging around the palace. "Uh Bro? Do you think-I mean really? I thought we were supposed to lay low?"
Yamcha ignored his friend and walked into the establishment that was filled with Saiyans and aliens.
"Two walking in!"
Someone yelled from in the building. Moments later a waiter appeared in front of them. "Staying or carrying?"
Yamcha pointed to a recently empty booth.
The waiter laughed at him then pointed to the side at all the people that were waiting to be seated. "As you can see you're not the only ones that want to eat here. So you are going to have to wait."
Yamcha nodded and stood at the end of the line. Krillian sighed and stood next to him. "We are going to be here all night. I don't see why-"
Krillian was caught off by Yamcha elbowing him to get his attention. He looked up and followed Yamcha's line of sight and saw the Ox King on the other side of the building checking on a waiter. A minute later he looked up and saw the two of them then came right over.
"Wow I didn't expect to see the two of you. Did you meet with Bulma?"
Krillian smiled nervously still not knowing Yamcha's whole story. "Yea we did."
The Ox King still didn't know what to think of the visitors but if they left the palace and was still alive then the Saiyans must not have seen them as a threat. "She's a sweet girl. Been there for my daughter all these years. But we can talk about that later. Let me grab you guys a seat."
A couple of the aliens and Saiyans heard him and shouted with outrage.
"Hey we've been waiting!"
"They just got here!"
"I'm starving over here!"
The Ox King paused his movements and glared at the people in line. "This is an Earthling restaurant and these are two Earthlings. They will eat now and if you don't like it then you can leave!" He shouted before turning around again. He didn't care to hear any response to what he said. He might not have been a king on Vegeta but he was sure going to be one in his own business!
He ironically sat them in the booth that Yamcha had pointed to earlier, slightly shocking the waiter that had told him to wait in line earlier.
The Ox King took the menus off the table. "Don't worry about ordering or paying. You guys probably haven't had some home cooking in a long time. So I'm going to take care of you guys tonight. I'll be right back."
Krillian sighed in relief as he left but he was still a little unsettled. "Dude, I know this is kind of nice, and it's honestly the best treatment that I have ever gotten in my entire life, but the others are probably pulling their hair out thinking about what probably happened to us. I know they aren't going to be pleased. Bulma really didn't say that she would help stop the purging from happening. I hope you were more successful on your end. But anyways, we need to find a way to let them know that we are ok and that we aren't being tortured somewhere."
Yamcha smirked then pointed behind Krillian. Krillian whipped his head around and saw news media and cameras pointed at them from outside. With Kakarot being big news there was always reporters around. The Ox King's announcement of them being Earthlings had probably tipped off a media frenzy not only that but with him also inquiring about the meeting with Bulma would surely start a lot of gossip. And most importantly the news of them at the restaurant after the meeting would get news out to their friends that they were safe.
Krillian shook his head in disbelief. "You sly dog!"
Yamcha picked up a glass of water and chuckled. "More like a wolf."
The next morning Vegeta knew something was wrong if his father couldn't wait to talk to him at breakfast. He was summoned as soon as the sun had risen. Bulma barely stirred in her sleep and he chuckled at that. They had practically 'trained' all night. She was more than likely going to be out all morning…or even all day if he was going off his master skills. But his father now awaited him and so he had to leave the comfort of his bed and wife to go see what couldn't wait till later.
He quickly got dressed and met his father in his throne room. Before he could even bow his father tossed a file to him.
Vegeta caught the documents before the splayed all over the floor and opened it. There was a picture of Bulma on the front with another picture of Krillian and Yamcha at Chichi's restaurant.
There were numerous titles that said things like, "The Alien Princess vs The King" and "From Princess to Savior".
Vegeta's eyes got big as he looked at the written articles that talked about overhearing conversations of the two Earthling's conversing with Chichi's father about meeting Bulma and the Prince attacking the 'handsome' Earthling in a jealous rage. But the big kicker was of an eyewitness with fantastic Saiyan hearing that specifically heard Krillian ask Bulma to stop purging.
Vegeta looked up and frowned at his obvious enraged father.
"What is the meaning of this Vegeta?"
Vegeta closed the file and ground his teeth together. "Bulma has nothing to do with it."
"She does now! This is media news that was brought in and was stopped by me. Your mother doesn't even know about it. But that doesn't mean that this isn't what people are talking about. Do you understand what can happen? The Aliens are seeing her as an opponent to me. They see her as a way out of our tradition. The last thing I want are revolts on every planet in our Empire and have to re-purge planets that I already own! Now what are you going to do stop this because trust me when I say that you will not want me to."
The obvious threat caused Vegeta to glare at his father. "I will figure something out. Bulma has nothing to do with them and she will make that clear."
The king stared back at his son for a while then rested back in his chair. "She had better."
Vegeta bowed to his father and turned to walk out.
"Vegeta…" he stopped. "You are lucky that you own her. Otherwise she would already be dead."
Vegeta shook a little with anger and turned back to his father. "And you are lucky that I am yet to be a Super Saiyan otherwise I would not let such comments pass."
The King smirked at his son. "I await the day son. When you defeat me I will gladly step down."
"A lot sooner than you think...trust me." Vegeta ended as he walked back, declaring to himself that it would be very soon indeed…
On the outskirts of the Capital…
Yamcha and Krillian finally made it to their company. It wasn't easy especially with all the attention they were getting and they were sure that they were still being followed but it was time to go back and report regardless.
They were meeting in an underground building that was hidden beneath a local alien bar. If they were followed then it would be too obvious if the Saiyans walked inside. The service was bad and the aliens could barely speak Saiyan so they really didn't come into the establishment.
Yamcha and Krillian nodded to the bartender and they walked to the backroom and walked down the winding steps that led to a hidden room in the basement. Once they got passed the closed doors they were paraded with millions of questions.
"One at a time!" Krillian yelled out.
"You will answer my questions first!"
Yamcha rolled his eyes and Krillian groaned at who stepped forward. This guy was always second guessing their moves and doubting everything they did.
Yamcha was able to talk above raspy whisper even though his throat still hurt. "What is it?"
The old man crossed his arms and smirked. "I was right wasn't I? She doesn't want to help us."
Krillian really wanted to knock this guy out. "No, she does want to help us but-"
"But she doesn't want to stop the purges?" The Old man finished.
Krillian sighed. "It's not like that. She's not Queen yet, she can't do anything-"
"You heard it from his own lips! She can't do anything!" He yelled.
Yamcha got mad and grabbed his collar. "That's not what he meant!"
"Let him go!" Someone shouted from the back.
Yamcha didn't want to but he did. Unfortunately the group was split. There were some that wanted to follow Bulma but there were others that thought her to be a traitor and believed that they should follow the old man. "Look I know that this is hard but I believe that we can trust Bulma."
The Old man sneered at him with disgust. "I know her father, and believe me he is a disgusting man. They should not be followed."
Krillian wanted to rip his head off. "And we should follow you?"
"Yes! She is no leader. She cannot and will not help us."
"And you can?"
"I can save us from these Saiyans. And defeat them."
Yamcha groaned with annoyance. He had met some cocky people in his life but this guy took the cake. He would have rather let Vegeta continue strangling him than hear this guy talk. "And how exactly can you help us?"
The Old man waved to the back of the room. "With the help of my children." He then turned to face the majority of the crowd and pointed an angry finger to Yamcha and Krillian. "We have heard their proposal of going to the so called Alien Princess. But now listen to me. I am Dr. Gero and I can save all aliens from the treacherous Saiyan Empire!"
