Excerpt:

Rosemary balled the dainty handkerchief in her fist at her side, willing the tears to stay at bay. She'd been on stage hundreds of times before this, and always able to keep her emotions under control, but here, standing as one of the three bridesmaids, observing the miracle of matrimony that was happening before them, the task was nearly impossible. Why, even when she had played Cordelia in the tragedy King Lear, she hadn't broken down. But today, today, the tears itched the back of her eyes, her throat constricted, and her heart beat erratically in her chest—for watching her dear friends, Jack and Elizabeth, commit their lives to each other rustled up memories of her own journey with Lee, that started at this one and the same pulpit.

Jack held Elizabeth's hand as Pastor Frank read from the Bible, their faces glowing with excitement.

Had it only been two years since their own wedding ceremony? At times it felt just a small whisper of a moment ago, and at other times felt like a lifetime ago how far they had come in their walk together. Here they had stood proclaiming their vows in front of God and the people of Hope Valley. As she recited the vows then, she had thought she knew what they meant… but my how naive she had been. This God-given love between the two of them had not been content to leave her trapped inside of the fortress of fear in her heart. No, God's love, Lee's love, had busted through… led a siege against the dark unyielding walls that had held her captive, until every last stone had fallen and she was free. She inched her eyes towards Lee's, finding him looking right back at her from his spot next to Jack as best man. His sparkling blue eyes held depth, understanding and a sea of great love. Almost as if he knew what she was thinking, and he too, felt the extreme growth in their relationship.

Despite her best efforts, one tear niggled and broke loose, dropping down her cheek at a hurried rate.
