Considering how many chapters there are in this story, this'll be the last one. However, the story continues in 'The Continued Space/Time Adventures of Alexia'.
Apologies about the political stuff. i wasnt going to keep it in, but decided to leave it. One of these days the Tories will a cropper and their cheating, lying ways will do them in.
"Where?" Ed muttered, pacing back and forth in the kitchen/dining room, clearly agitated. "Where could she have gotten too?" He'd woken up over an hour ago after Delta had woken, feeling cold. The entire room felt chilled and he'd recognised it as a 'nightmare chill'. And when he checked next to him and saw that Delta wasn't there he hurried out of the room, looking for her. He calmed a little once the Twelfth Doctor told him she had gone out and Jaime had followed. But it didn't make him feel any easier as he continued to pace. "I didn't think she was ready to leave!"
Five year old Lyra-Jane Sasco-Wilkinson watched Ed pacing back and forth whilst eating her breakfast at the dining table. She barely remembered her aunt being around, but she was happy for her return. She'd been surprised by all the guests appearing overnight and she was curious about The Doctor. Though she did wonder why aunt Dyna wasn't here with everyone else?
"Jaime says they're at the beach and they'll be back any minute." J.D spoke up as he leaned against the kitchen bench with his arms folded. He was frowning, worried. Just what else could there possibly be that was bad? He sensed several emotions pass over him from Jaime and he wondered what she and Delta were discussing on the beach?
"The beach?" Ed squawked. "What's she doing there? That's practically miles away!" It just worried him even more. Knowing how bad her PTSD could get he thought she might hurt herself.
"Don't exaggerate," Christopher admonished the MI5 officer. "Miami Beach is only two miles away." He was sat down next to his daughter, also eating his breakfast.
Ed just let out a frustrated huff while continuing his pacing and running his hands through his hair.
Rose watched him from the doorway of the basement, feeling bouts of worry and agitation from him. The poor fella seemed to be at the end of his tether.
Suddenly the front door slamming loudly open scared those who weren't expecting it.
"What the bloody hell!" An angry Chris stood up, expecting to have a fight on his hands, his daughter whimpering beside him.
"What's going on down there?" A voice called from upstairs as Ed, J.D, Rose, DeltaVerse Jenny and Katie got ready to defend the Sasco-Wilkinson home.
They needn't have worried though, because Jaime stepped in through the doorway, holding Delta in her arms bridal style. "Shit, sorry. I think I broke the door." She apologised.
"Not for the first time!" Sharon said, hurrying down the stairs with her mother following. She shut the front door as best she could.
When Delta saw Ed she wiggled to get out of Jaime's grip, so the Scots-girl let her go. The ginger limped towards Ed with a hint of a smile, and they caught each other in a hug.
"I missed you so much." Ed muttered, holding onto Delta tightly and placing his face into her fiery flyaway hair, though it smelled horribly clinical.
"I missed you more," Delta sobbed, holding Ed even tighter, afraid she would get pulled away from him any second. "I missed you every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every week, every month, every year." He smelled fantastic. It was the smell she had missed for a very long time.
There was some brief chuckles from those watching the scene before them.
Ed grinned at her words. That was just so Delta. "I'm so sorry we took so long," he apologised. "We barely had any help from either governments, then it was just the American government being the problem. Luckily The Doctor turned up with some help and we finally found you."
Delta felt confused as she continued to hug Ed, wondering why The Doctor hadn't intervened sooner. That was until she remembered that he'd been with his archaeologist wife on another planet. She sighed sadly. "It's okay," she muttered. "At least I'm here now, safe and sound, in your arms…" She didn't think she could tell him about the twins. At least not yet anyway. Not until the pain lessened and she felt ready to tell him.
But Ed shook his head, disagreeing with what she said. "No!" He muttered, pulling out of the hug and held Delta at arms length, looking at her face. Her green eyes were distant and haunted. They were often like that after having a nightmare. But this was much worse. What had they done to her? "No, it's not fine. Not one bit! They took you away and illegally held you in a prison no-one else knew about, just because they thought you weren't human." Delta avoided his scrutiny, not wanting to think about it. "They've got to face justice for what they've done."
But Delta shook her head. "No," she croaked. "I just want to go home for a bit. Be with you and Jefferson." Because she was looking away she didn't notice the grimace on Ed's face, though she did sense a quick flash of sadness from him. Delta looked up at him with a worried frown. "What? What's wrong?" She asked.
"I'm sorry," Ed apologised, pulling her back into a hug. "But he died…" Delta's eyes widened. "…happened last year. He was old and he just keeled over."
Delta continued to stare wide eyed and shocked. She'd had that Alsatian since his late puppy years, taken him from the rescue kennels in D.C. He'd originally belonged to an annoying journalist of a tabloid newspaper, but when he came to a sticky end she felt obliged to become the dog's new owner. After all, it had been her own fault he had died. The people who'd kidnapped her had forced him to spy for them, telling them where she would be in an attempt to kill her. He was rather hapless to be honest, but he didn't deserve that! Closing her eyes, the ginger sobbed over the death of her dog.
Jaime watched, feeling waves of sadness and guilt washing off Delta. "Who's Jefferson?" She heard her mum ask. "Her dog." Jaime answered her mum before turning to the Twelfth Doctor. "I need tae talk tae ye." She said to him and they walked into the den for some privacy. They were joined by the rest of the Time Travellers from both Universes.
"Judging from the expression on your face it's a serious situation." The older Doctor said.
Jaime nodded, looking grim. "She was pregnant when she was imprisoned." There were some shocked gasps and exclaims of disbelief. "Twins, and Ed is the father." She added.
The Twelfth Doctor furrowed his brow, thinking.
"What? Why hasn't she said anything?" Alexia asked, confused.
Jaime sighed. "Maybe it's 'cause she feels tha' it'll only make a bad situation worse." She replied.
"What happened to them?" Rose questioned, hoping the worst hadn't happened.
"They're still alive," Jaime replied. "They're the reason she kept tryin' tae escape. But I saw no sign of them when I was down there."
"So they're missing?" The Tenth Doctor asked.
"Aye," the Scots-girl replied with a nod. "Either they were hidden or they were fostered out tae another family. I wouldnae put it past 'em if tha' lot did." There were mutters of agreement from the Time Travellers. "And it looks like she has a parent bond with the twins bit I dinnae think she's in the right state of Mind tae be searchin' for 'em." Jaime turned her attention back to the Twelfth Doctor. "This is your jurisdiction, Doctor, it's up tae ye tae find them. After all, you have previously searched for a missing baby before."
"Yes, and she turned out to be my wife!" The Doctor replied and Jaime winced at the reference to said wife. "I'll try, but I fear I'll be mostly pre-occupied with keeping Missy out of trouble."
Alexia frowned when she heard an odd humming noise and glanced over at the den's doorway.
"I'll help with the baby search," DeltaVerse Jenny volunteered. "How hard can it be to look for two possible Hybrid babies?"
"You'd be surprised!" The older Doctor quipped.
"Watch out for fire and ice!" Jaime uttered rather cryptically, confusing everyone else in the room.
"What's that noise?" Alexia wondered as the odd humming sound continued.
Her inquiry caught Jaime's attention and she listened. "Tha's" Dyna," she uttered in confusion. "Wha' is she doin' here?" And she quickly hurried out of the den with the others following.
By the time she reached the kitchen/dining room there was a dog, an Alsatian, happily barking away as he jumped at an obviously confused Delta. She was laughing though as she sat on the kitchen floor and played with the dog.
"I thought you said her dog was dead?" A frowning Alexia asked.
"He is…was…" A puzzled Ed replied. "He just came tearing out of the basement!"
"He's a clone," the familiar mixed accented voice spoke up. "But he has all the memories of the original."
All the Time Travellers looked over at The Dynacracker stood in the doorway of the basement…or rather her TARDIS. Somebody was stood behind her, lurking.
"What are you doing here?" The Twelfth Doctor demanded. "And why did you clone the dog?" He'd come across her several times during the few times he'd visited Gallifrey ever since it had been saved and brought back.
"Because I remember how much it hurt to find out my dog had died, and I hadn't been there when it happened." Dyna answered The Doctor. She looked at her previous self still sat on the kitchen floor with Jefferson 2.0. "So I gave her some extra time with him."
Delta grinned, listening as she played with the Alsatian. She was grateful to her older self for giving her this gift.
"How did you retain his memories?" A curious Tenth Doctor asked.
"How do you think!" Dyna gave a reply of mysteriousness along with a quick wink.
His eyes widened when he realised what she'd done. "You loomed him!" He uttered. They had never been meant for animals and now an Earth dog had been loomed in one. He hoped she wouldn't get in trouble for such a thing.
"Normally I would disapprove, but at least they were used for some good!" The Twelfth Doctor said.
Ed barely listened to the conversation. He knew who Dyna was, had a vague idea, but he'd only met her once and it had been rather odd. However, his attention was not on Dyna, but the person lurking behind her. "Who is that?" He interrupted the conversation. "Behind you! Who is it?" He didn't know why he felt so hostile right now.
The person who'd been lurking behind Dyna stepped forward and stood beside Dyna with a smile. At first he thought he was looking at himself, but then he noticed some obvious differences. The eyes were a different colour to his, the nose was shaped differently and the hair was longer and darker.
"Blimey! It's been a long time since I last looked like that!" The stranger said. Even his accent was different, more foreign sounding.
A surprised and confused Delta stood up and stared at the male with furrowed brows. The bond she had with Ed was basically weak because it was one sided. He was mostly Mind-Blind. But this other fella, she could sense the love from him. It practically glowed and felt familiar. "What's going on?" She asked her older self. "You usually travel alone or travel with a companion!"
"So you uploaded him into the Matrix after all!" Alexia also asked.
Dyna shook her head at the questions. "No, actually. I never got that chance. What actually happened was a change in the Timeline," she explained. "Originally I didn't leave Earth until the age of ninety…when I had outlived everyone else…" A look of sadness passed over her face. "…but that was when Hillary Clinton was President."
"What!" Chris cried out, surprised, along with everyone else. "You mean to say that none of this should have even happened?" Dyna nodded her head. "So how come we got the Orange Nutcase instead?" Chris asked.
"Well, that's the mystery, isn't it," 2nd Ed said. "Something happened to the Timeline for it to split off and divert. Same goes for Brexit. That never should have happened."
Delta gasped, vaguely remembering something about the referendum. Had it been Leave that had won? Or was it Remain? She was sure the whole thing went pretty badly.
"Don't worry about Brexit," Dyna spoke up. "We managed to stop that one from getting out of control." A grim expression appeared on Dyna's face. "I'm sorry we had to go through such an ordeal," she told her younger self. "Trump and Area 51 was the entire reason why our a Timeline changed."
Jaime, Rose and OmniVerse Jenny all felt shock, surprise and confusion come from Delta's family members.
Ed 2 nodded. "This entire Timeline stretches back all the way to May 6th 2010 and one man."
"Who would that be?" J.D asked after a short silence.
"His name is Nigel Farage," Dyna picked up. "In 2010 he survived a light plane crash, got away with very few injuries. His pilot, on the other hand, unfortunately didn't survive. Farage went on to befriend the likes of Trump and Boris Johnson…"
Ed 1 groaned and shook his head. "…and with his influence he caused a lot of trouble that almost became world-wide." There was another bout of silence.
"Nigel Farage, you say?" Alexia spoke up, looking thoughtful. "I remember this fella back in our old universe. He was the leader of UKIP and he'd been in the plane trailing a banner around. But the plane got into trouble and crashed into a fiery mess, killing both him and the pilot."
The Tenth Doctor frowned at her words. "With these Timeline changes it's entirely possible Mr Farage was visited by The Trickster or somebody similar in this Universe."
The Twelfth Doctor nodded in agreement. It had to be that creature, after all it tried to change Sarah-Jane's life twice, and Donna.
"Yes, well that's what we'll be investigating soon." Ed 2 said.
"Meanwhile…" Dyna spoke, looking at her younger self and seeing so much pain in her green eyes. "…There's only so much a human Mind can take before PTSD completely takes over. You have several appointments with a Mind Healer on Gallifrey."
Jaime felt waves of confusion from some people in the room.
"Mind Healer?" Ed 1 asked, eyes narrowed.
"Ahh, sorry. Otherwise known as a psychiatrist." Dyna corrected herself and Delta let out an annoyed sigh. "And don't worry," Dyna spoke specifically to her younger self. "The things that were taken from you will be returned to you in due time." She saw hope appear on Delta's face and only the Time Travellers understood the reference.
Kat shook her head when she understood what was happening and she quickly put her arm around her younger daughter's shoulders, keeping her close. "No, no, no, no!" She uttered, still shaking her head. "You can't take her away so soon. I only just got her back."
"Mum!" Delta groaned, feeling uncomfortable.
"She hasn't even met her new niece yet!"
That surprised Delta but she didn't think she could see her sister's new baby considering her own two had been taken from her.
"That's the good thing about Time Travel," Ed 2 spoke up answering Kat's worries. "Right now, there's another version of them who are in a meeting with the current Prime Minister…"
"Good luck with that," Delta muttered bitterly. "The Conservatives only ever care about themselves, they never really want to help anybody else." She sensed a flash of amusement from her Ed.
"Actually, the Tories aren't the ones in power." He said and a shocked Delta looked at him.
"What? When did that happen?" She asked.
"Late December, last year," Sharon answered her sister. "Labour got into government with a landslide."
The ginger's mouth gawped open.
"Prime Minister Corbyn has been a real help," Ed 1 spoke up. "He did his very best but the American Government kept blocking his requests." A hint of a smile appeared on Delta's face.
"And now an older version of the both of you are meeting up with the Prime Minister." Ed 2 said.
"Once they're done at Downing Street they'll make their way here and it would be like they hadn't left." Dyna told Kat.
Once again Delta let out a sigh, only it sounded even more frustrated. "Okay, fine. Then how am I meant to get there? Will you be taking me?" She asked her older self.
"Oh!" The Dynacracker exclaimed and shook her head before digging into her trouser pocket. She pulled something out and tossed it towards Delta, who caught it deftly. She saw that it was her own Vortex Traveller device, the one given to her by the Time Lords for her help in bringing Gallifrey back. "The co-ordinates are set," Dyna told her. "Central Command will know know the three of you will be arriving soon."
"All three?" Ed 1 uttered once he realised what Dyna just said.
"Of course!" Ed 2 spoke up. "You didn't think she'd go on her own, did you? She needs you and Jefferson with her."
Jefferson 2.0 barked happily at the mention.
Delta smiled at her future bond-mate and husband. Even though he'd regenerated…somehow…he hadn't changed a bit.
"Okay, I'll go with her," Ed 1 replied. "I'll tolerate all this planet hopping, only because Time Travel is involved. I want to help Delta as much as I can."
Still smiling, and waiting for her mother to let her go, Delta stood very close to her Ed and Jefferson. "Bye, mum, I'll be back with you soon." She said and activated the Traveller. They were enveloped by a shielded forcefield and then seconds later they disappeared in a flash.
Kat stared at the empty space in the kitchen before turning to Dyna. "So you're my daughter, yet you never said a word!" She said.
A sheepish expression appeared on the Hybrid Time Lady's face. "I couldn't," she replied. "It wasn't the right time."
The sound of the baby crying on the baby monitor interrupted their chat. Sharon hurried upstairs to check on baby Andromeda.
"You look different, happier." Kat stated and Alexia felt she had to agree. Dyna did look a hell of a lot happier.
"Thanks mum." Dyna replied and Kat grinned.
"That's because she's got me!" Older Ed spoke up, putting his arm around her shoulders. Dyna nodded, smiling back at her bond-mate husband.
"Will you be staying long?" Kat now asked.
Before Dyna could reply an odd noise came from the console of Sky Blue. Brows raised, Dyna looked back at the Console, nodded her head and returned her attention to her mother. "Hold that thought!" She said and looked over at the OmniVerse Time Travellers. "What are you guys still doing here?" She asked them. "The bridge back into your universe is about to close."
A look of worry appeared on the Tenth Doctor's face, J.D, however, had a different reaction. "Yes, well we could leave!" He said. "But somebody had to park their TARDIS in the way!" He was rather sarcastic about it and it left the two Time Travellers confused.
"Our TARDIS is parked in the basement." Jaime told Dyna.
The ginger Time Lady now understood. She hadn't known at the time for obvious reasons. "Oh, sorry." She took a step out of the doorway of her TARDIS and turned to older Ed. "can you park Sky elsewhere for me please, Eagle." She requested.
Older Ed, or The Eagle as he was known at MI5 and Gallifrey's CIA, nodded and walked into the the TARDIS. The door shut and seconds later there was a humming sound. A hatstand soon appeared n the dining room and Eagle stepped out of the 'doorway'.
Lyra-Jane giggled at the silliness.
The OmniVerse Time Travellers were saying their goodbyes to the people they had met.
"Thanks for your help," Dyna spoke to Jaime. "It was really appreciated."
"It was nae bother." The Omni replied, smiling back.
Soon enough the OmniVerse Time Travellers hurried down into the basement and a short time later the Vworping noise of their TARDIS could be heard as they exited the Universe.
