Will be working on this chapter. Sorry for the delay on the previous one.
Tobias POV
The next day Tris and I get ready and head down for breakfast before venturing out to explore. As we are driving we come across an outdoor farmers market so we decide to stop and check it out.
We spend a couple hours walking around looking at everything. We buy a few small things. Tris managed to negotiate the price on a few things. When we leave Tris gives me an address to enter into the GPS. She doesn't tell me anything about what the destination is. I'm curious about what she has up her sleeve. She must've come across something I didn't when we were looking up things to do while we are here online. When we pull into the parking lot, I don't see any obvious clues about what we are doing. I just see a building and see that we are in an area with more trees, almost forest like.
Tris takes my hand as we walk inside. When we enter I look around and I immediately go pale when I realize where we are and what we are doing. Tris is taking me zip lining. She looks up and me and squeezes my hand before moving her hand to my face forcing me to look at her.
"Tobias, I know I kinda sprung this on you but it'll be okay. I know you can do this. Maybe you can conquer this fear once and for all. I will be right beside you the whole time. Maybe we can ask if we can do it together but if not I have faith in you."
I don't know what to say but I know that Tris is making a good argument. When I don't say anything she continues speaking.
"Look at it this way, you told me that one of the symbols on your back represents bravery and that you strive to be it, and what the rest of the symbols represent, every day. You have been through so much and are still standing tall. You have proven you're brave in so many ways and this is an opportunity for you to really face this fear head on. What do you say?"
I look into her eyes and see the fire that I love. She has always made me wanna be better. I know I can do this and it's because she says that I can. I lean down and kiss her softly. I nod when I pull back.
"Okay. Let's do this."
She smiles and leads me over to the information desk. After we are checked in we are led outside and up an elevator. I stay as calm as I can as I face two of my fears at once. I keep my eyes trained on the elevator door knowing it'll soon open. Tris keeps a gentle hold on my hand and it squeezes it reassuringly. I breathe in the fresh air when we finally exit the elevator.
We are given the safety procedure and the guy that will assist us asks which one of us wants to go first. Tris volunteers with no hesitation. She steps towards me and kisses me lightly.
"I'll see you on the other end. Be brave, Tobias. You can do this."
I smile and nod. I watch as they strap Tris in and give her a helmet to put on. They give her once last run through of the safety procedure and she's ready to go.
The guy counts off and before I can blink Tris is gone, her whooping and hollering sounding further away with every second that passes. Finally the guy turns his attention to me. In order to focus, I think of what Tris just told me: "Be brave, Tobias." I know I can be, I believe I can be. As I'm being strapped in the guy tells me to remember to pull the brake at the end of the line. I nod as put the helmet on. He counts me off as I squeeze my eyes shut and a millisecond later I'm flying through the air. I can't stop the scream that escapes my mouth but I force my eyes to open taking in the view before it disappears behind me. I guess I can see why people enjoy this. It feels like I'm flying. Finally I see the end of the line and begin slowing down. I see a couple guys, employees, waiting to help me stop the zipline as I pull on the brake. When I come to a complete stop the guys help me out of the strap and seconds later I touch solid ground. I take a second to catch my breath before looking up to see Tris stepping towards me with a smile on her face. She wraps her arms around me and kisses me on the cheek. We thank the guys that helped us as we walk towards the elevator. My head is still processing what I just did so I don't even have time to think about being inside the elevator. When we exit the elevator and walk towards the building's exit we thank the person at the front desk who wishes us a good rest of our day.
As soon as we get to the car I pull Tris to me and kiss her.
"So, was it worth it?" She asks.
"I think so. It was fun, but I think it'll be a while before I'd wanna do it again."
She chuckles. "I'm not surprised but at least you can say you did it at all."
"True. Let's head back to the hotel and freshen up for dinner."
PAGE BREAK
Tris and I agree on wearing formal attire given the restaurant we agreed upon going to. I didn't mention, however, that I got us tickets to a luau afterwards. I plan on surprising her after dinner. I'm sure it'll be fun.
I dress in a blue button up shirt and black pants. Tris disappeared into the the bathroon saying I couldn't see her until she was ready. After about 20 minutes the bathroom door opens and Tris steps out. I look up from where I'm sitting on the bed, my phone in hand doing a last minute check of addresses to put into the GPS. Immediately my jaw drops when I see her. She's smiling shyly at me as I stand and step towards her. She's wearing a beautiful silver dress with silver heels and jewelry to match.
"So, what do you think?" She asks with a hint of nervousness in her voice.
"You are absolutely stunning. I can't believe you're mine."
She chuckles as I take her hand and twirl her. She giggles as she wraps her arms around me briefly. She grabs her clutch purse as I grab my phone and the room and car keys before we head out the door.
I'm glad we called ahead and got reservations because the restuarant is pretty popular and fancy. It definitely attracts both tourists and locals. Once we are seated our waiter comes to take our drink order. I don't order anything alcohol but I encourage Tris to if she wants. Surprisingly she declines so I decide to give her a hint about what we are doing after dinner.
"So, I have a surprise for you after dinner."
She raises her eyebrow. "Really? Can I get a hint?"
"Well, since you didn't want any wine or liquor here, you can order it where we are going. You're gonna love it. I have no doubt it'll be fun."
"Fun. All right then, Mr. Eaton."
I chuckle.
"This all still feels surreal. We are married and are on our honeymoon. Sometimes I'm afraid I'm just dreaming."
She smiles. "I feel the same way, but we aren't dreaming. Maybe it sounds selfish but I think we both deserve to be happy, to our best self."
"We do."
We proceed to enjoy a delicious dinner and when get back to the car I can tell that Tris is excited to find out where we are going next. I park in a public parking lot close to a different area of the beach from our hotel and lead Tris in that direction. As we get closer the sound of music can be heard and Tris gasps when she sees a small crowd gathered watching Hawaiian dancers. She smiles at me and kisses me on the cheek as we find a place to sit. She orders a drink and watches in rapt attention.
By the time it's over both of us are still on a high from today's activities. When we get back to the hotel Tris pulls me into the bathroom with her and starts a bath. I grin as we begin to remove our clothes and enter the tub. My lips find her and our hands start roaming.
The rest of our honeymoon is simply amazing. We do make it to Maui and Oahu and have the best time.
A/N: Sorry this chapter is less detailed and a little shorter than the previous few. If I can update at least once a month I'll consider it a good thing so I hope you all stick around. This story is certainly winding down.
