Amaya couldn't see anything. She had the feeling like she was dreaming, but then why couldn't she see anything? Darkness clouded her vision. She remembered falling asleep next to the dark gray wolf from before, but after that she couldn't remember anything.
Is it possible I fell unconscious again, she thought to herself.
Amaya was very confused as to what was going on. The feeling of helplessness surrounded her at the same moment she felt her body being pulled into something a lot warmer than the gray wolf.
What's going on?
She could hear a muffled voice but that was about it. Amaya could feel herself being pulled back into unconsciousness again. The more and more she was pulled into it, the more and more she found she could not feel anything happening in the outside world.
Kaname walked outside with the small pureblood woman in his arms, keeping her close to him as possible. As he walked down towards the building with the Headmaster's quarters, a figure stepped before him. The pureblood prince stopped in his tracks. The figure was none other than the former human. He didn't seem pleased with the actions the pureblood prince was taking right at this moment. He was still bloody from the small fight he had with Kaname earlier.
"You didn't clean yourself up," Kaname stated, "Even though you are in front of Amaya at this moment."
"Did you do something to her," Zero asked through clenched teeth.
"I did nothing to her," Kaname answered, "but there is something I have to do for her soon, or else she will lose her mind and body."
"What's going on, Kuran," Zero yelled.
Another figure appeared in front of Kaname, but this figure was facing Zero. A red cloak fluttered in the cold wind.
"Katsu, what are you doing here," Zero yelled again.
"Kaname, go," Katsu spoke up, not turning to look at the pureblood prince behind her, "Before it is too late. I do not want to see Amaya in a more monster state than she already is."
"Thank you, Katsu," Kaname spoke before he started walking again. He walked past the two vampire hunters, leaving them with anything they may need to discuss. Once inside the building, he met up with Kaien himself. He was standing just a few feet away from the door when Kaname arrived. He was wearing his usual attire.
"So, it's time," Kaien asked, more like stated really.
"Yes, it is," Kaname whispered as he looked down at Amaya's unconscious face.
"What are you going to do once she is awake?"
"I will kill anyone who has stood in my way."
"I hope you know that once you and Amaya leave this place entirely…"
"I know," Kaname interrupted, "I know."
Kaname walked away from Kaien's side and quickly found an empty room. He placed the small pureblood down onto the bed. His right hand moved some of her blonde-streaked, black hair out of her face. "Amaya," he whispered.
Even in her unconscious state, Amaya could feel a power quickly trying to take over her body. The power from earlier, the power she had seen pulsing through her arm that one day. The one that had made her veins pulse in such an odd way.
What is going on, she thought to herself, What is this power?
Suddenly, she felt a liquid going down her throat. Amaya questioned what the liquid was, but the fact that it was quickly pushing the power away, it felt nice. The power's pulsing rage was quieting down.
What is this?
A bright light suddenly filled the pureblood's clouded vision. She watched as the black wolf with tan paws from earlier ran down a hill somewhere. The black wolf in just a matter of seconds transformed into a girl with black hair and dark blue eyes. The girl looked exactly like Amaya.
The Suzuki pureblood watched as the girl ran into a man's arms. The same man from before, the dark brown-haired man with dark red eyes. Amaya finally got to see his face completely and that was when everything clicked from that moment onward.
Kaname watched a few feet away as Amaya shook with fury before suddenly settling down. It was over. It had to be over now.
"Amaya," he called softly to the pureblood girl.
In just a matter of seconds, Amaya was up on the bed. Her knees were down into the sheets. Her small hands dug into the sheets as if they were like claws. Her dark blue eyes were now bright red with hunger. The ravenette looked over at Kaname; her eyes watching him closely as he walked closer to her.
"Amaya, snap out of it," he spoke calmly to her as his right hand reached out to her. His hand was covered in blood near the palm and his thumb. Kaname had given her some of his blood already, but it seemed as though she was still hungry for more. "Drink if you need more."
Amaya sat back on top of her legs and took his hand in hers. She seemed calm now, but there still seemed something off about her. The ravenette leaned forward and placed her lips against the cut Kaname had previously made. Her fangs dug into his hand slowly, making the prince wince slightly in pain.
The pureblood prince didn't dare stop her from drinking. He would let her decide on when she had enough of his blood. His other hand moved from his side and came to rest against her right cheek. He watched as her bright red eyes turned back to their dark blue color. Amaya slowly removed her fangs from his hand. She released his hand, letting it fall back to his side once again. The cut quickly healed, almost like it wasn't there.
The pureblood prince sat down in front of her, not moving his hand from her cheek at all. He softly leaned over and placed his forehead against hers. "Do you remember," he asked her, "Do you remember who you are...? What you are?"
"Yes," Amaya replied immediately. Amaya moved her forehead off of Kaname's to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Such a good boy, Kaname."
When Kaname had left sight of Katsu and Zero, and hearing range, Zero started yelling at Katsu about how she let Kaname go without question and so on and so forth. Katsu rolled her eyes as the former human continued with his yelling, which made him growl at her lowly.
"Well, I can explain, Zero," was all of an answer Katsu gave.
"Really? You can," Zero replied, "Then go ahead."
Katsu gave a small sigh. "How about I show you instead?"
"Show?"
Katsu gave a small nod. She shook her head once, messing her red-streaked, brown hair a bit in the process. Slowly, but surely, Katsu's body started to turn into something more animal-like. Her clothes didn't rip and fall into pieces at the girl's feet. Instead, it looked like they melted right into the animal form, making a thin layer of fur. Standing before Zero, where his friend had just been standing, was a dark brown wolf with dark black eyes and red streaks in its fur. It had to be as big as a medium-sized pony. It was skinny, and yet had a far amount of muscle. It was shocking to look at.
"Katsu, is that you," he asked, "When did you…?"
Yes, the wolf spoke up, It's me, Zero.
Zero didn't say a word, so Katsu continued speaking. She could only believe that the silver-haired teen was shocked by her new appearance. After all, she never showed anyone this power.
I'm going to guess you have heard of vampire shapeshifters before, correct?
"Yes, my parents told me about them long ago, but I thought they were extinct thousands of years ago," the former human replied finally.
We were and we weren't, Katsu stated, We were extinct because Amaya and I, the leaders of one pack, were killed… At least one could say. We weren't because the others who survived stayed hidden for thousands of years in their animal forms.
"Are you saying you lived over a thousand years ago?"
More like ten thousand years, but yes.
The brown wolf shook her head as she turned to her left; she had felt something off in that direction, hence the reason for her sudden movement.
I can give a better explanation later, but for now we should go our separate ways, Katsu continued to speak, We need to get ready for him to resurrect.
"Who are you talking about, Katsu," asked Zero.
You will know soon enough, the brown wolf answered before she turned and ran for the woods nearby. She had to get to her pack together as soon as possible. It was going to be a very long night; maybe even day if it turned out to be such a horrible event.
Kaname gave a soft expression as his gaze continued to look at the ravenette before him. "Still calling me boy, I see," he stated softly.
Amaya gave a small laugh in return to his response. "I'm sorry, Kaname," she apologized shortly after.
"It's fine, Amaya," Kaname told her, "It just shows me that you have all of your memories back."
"It's nice to finally remember everything," she states as her gaze looks down a bit.
Kaname looked at the Suzuki pureblood, wondering if something was bothering her now that she could remember everything. "Something wrong," he finally asked.
The ravenette shook her head slightly. "There's some parts of my past I kind of wish I didn't remember after all."
The pureblood prince gave a little sigh as he brought the small woman into his arms. He placed his head on top of hers as his arms surrounded her completely, protectively. "I understand."
Amaya buried her face in his shirt as she sat there, taking in his scent. Sure, she had smelled it earlier when she couldn't remember anything, but it was nice to finally smell it and know who exactly he was. "Kaname," the ravenette whispered softly.
"What," he questioned.
She paused a little as she felt an odd presence. She felt like she knew this dark presence like as if she had met it before. Memories of her times as a child came back in such a rush made the small pureblood suddenly feel sick to her stomach; painful and saddening memories. She didn't want those, but they came flowing into her mind without halting. "I can feel something dark," she finally told him.
"You sense him," Kaname stated.
"Him? You're talking about the man who killed my...," Amaya trailed off.
"The people who took care of you, yes. They weren't your real parents," the pureblood prince went on to explain, "They only pretended to be your parents, but I believe they truly loved you no matter what. They treated you like their own daughter even though they knew all too well what you were."
Amaya gave a small nod. "I know."
A long and deep howl was heard outside of the building. The Suzuki pureblood heard it and reacted first out of the two vampires. She suddenly perked up a bit; her dark blue eyes searching for something. "That was Tora, I think," Amaya commented, "Katsu's trying to round up the pack."
"Are you saying you need to go," Kaname asked.
Amaya looked up to the taller vampire, her dark blue eyes trying to read Kaname's dark red ones. She knew how he felt about her suddenly getting up and leaving. They once had a small fight long ago over just that. It was something stupid to fight about, but the two were able to reason with the other about the whole situation. Amaya didn't want that now; anything but now would be great.
Quickly, the ravenette leaned up and placed her lips on Kaname's.
Reacting only a few seconds later, Kaname kissed her back. His right hand went from Amaya's back to her left arm as Kaname tried to get the woman a little closer to him. He hadn't felt like this for a long time. The longer he could have this moment the better.
Amaya broke the kiss off only moments later. Leaning back, a small smile suddenly appeared upon her face as she continued to look up. "I have to," the ravenette told the other, "She's going to need me in anything upcoming."
The pureblood prince gave a sigh as he moved his arms back to his side. "Alright, but be careful," he finally spoke, "If he even tries to bite you…"
"He won't," Amaya interrupted Kaname, "I just know." The ravenette got up from the bed and walked over to the window, stopping only a few feet in front of it.
"You're gonna exit through the window," Kaname questioned.
"Yeah, why not," Amaya responded before glancing once over herself, "but not like this I won't be."
Just like her cousin earlier, Amaya slowly and surely transformed into a black wolf with dark blue eyes and tan paws. Her front paws slammed against the wooden floor with a loud thud. The black wolf shook her black head as she looked over to the brown-haired prince. She was enjoying herself in her wolf form. She hadn't been in that form for a long time and frankly it felt nice to be on four legs for once. Her head came down next to her leg, scratching her nose. It was almost as though she couldn't quite believe that she was in her wolf form after such a long time.
"It's been awhile since I've seen you in that form," Kaname stated suddenly.
Something wrong with it, Amaya asked quietly as she looked up to him once more. Her head was cocked to one side as though showing her questioning manner.
"No, there's nothing wrong with it," he continued, "I was only saying it has been awhile since I last saw your wolf form. Over thousands of years to be exact."
Yeah, she said with a small nod.
Another loud howl rang out on the other side of the window. The black wolf's ears perked up at the sound and she turned towards the window's direction, wondering exactly what was going on outside.
Kaname's eyes turned bright red as he let his power go a little out of control. His power broke the window before the black wolf. Glass fell to the floor below and the wooden frame split in places but did not fall. The pureblood prince's eyes went back to normal just before Amaya walked over to the window. She placed her front paws where the glass originally was placed before it shattered. Head looked over the edge, making sure that she would land on something soft once she jumped.
Thank you, Kaname, Amaya spoke before she placed her back paws in the same place as her front paws. Then in one motion only a few seconds later, Amaya jumped down onto the ground, landing perfectly and unharmed almost as if she had done this hundreds of times before hand. Once she had landed, Amaya stopped and looked around to find where she was. As she was looking around, the black wolf could see she was in the back of the building, farthest part of the woods. With a rough start, the wolf quickly ran to her right and followed the building's wall to the front. She had to find Katsu and fast; the sooner, the better too.
Katsu, in the meantime, was already moving her pack towards the academy. Her brown head moved up a little higher as she tried to look back at her pack, just to make sure everyone was alright. They were all behind her, following as closely as they could. To her right was Tora, the dark gray wolf.
Since you're here, that can only mean Kaname has gone ahead with his plan, Katsu stated.
Yes, Katsu, Tora growled a little.
He's acting too fast, Katsu snarled under her breath, He was supposed to wait.
It seemed like he no longer could, Katsu, Tora stated, And who could blame him? The last time he really saw her was over ten thousand years ago.
I know that, the brown wolf snarled again, But still. Waiting was a must. Now we have placed her in danger of possibly getting killed by that crazy pureblood.
Tora let out a sigh. He could very well see the point she was trying to show with the statements she spoke, but at the same time, the gray wolf couldn't quite agree. It was not his place to state such a thing at a time like this.
It wasn't long before the wolves got themselves closer to the building Kaname had taken the ravenette Suzuki. The brown wolf ordered her followers to stay where they were. She would walk inside first, forcing her comrades to wait outside in silence. As the brown wolf walked closer to the building did her body slowly change into her human form once again. Flowing right into the form, clothed and all. Not a change or anything was made to her body. Interesting little fact that grew within each transformation.
Katsu opened the door and before she could even get a foot inside, the pureblood prince came walking out. The brunette looked up at the man as he stared down at her.
"What do you think you're doing," she snapped a little, "I thought you were going to stay with Amaya until she woke up."
"She woke up faster than I thought," Kaname stated, "Take care of her till I get back, Katsu. I should arrive here tomorrow afternoon." And with that the pureblood prince walked away from the Suzuki pureblood.
The brunette watched as the man slowly walked away from her. It appeared he was heading towards the Moon dormitories, which was strange. It only made the female think that he was planning something out far more ahead than what they already had. She did not call out to him; she did not move to follow him. It was not of her concern; more so Amaya's if it had to be anyone's concern.
"Everyone, move to the positions I assigned you to earlier," Katsu yelled loudly, "We will need to prepare for the coming battles." Several howls could be heard from the forest. The gray, male wolf from earlier walked up to her, bumping his head against her leg.
"Tora, I need you to find Amaya quickly and take her to the abandoned building the Night Class once used as soon as possible. I know you'll be able to figure out which building that is," the brunette spoke quickly, "I will be there shortly. I have some explaining to do for a few friends."
The gray wolf nodded before sniffing the air, trying to find the ravenette's scent. Once found, the gray wolf bounded off in a direction. Katsu didn't pay attention to which one. She had already bounded off in the direction of the Sun dormitories. The Day Class students might have already been told to stay there for the time being. The Suzuki pureblood could not blame the Headmaster if he so chooses such an idea, but then what? Where to after that?
He would eventually find out.
"Oi," someone yelled. The noise came from in front of the brown wolf. She suddenly stopped running; slowly walking towards the corner in front of her, the wolf was finally able to see who had called out.
Standing just a few feet from each other was the Headmaster, Kaien Cross, and Katsu's master, Toga Yagari. Kaien had his hair down and was holding his old vampire weapon; a sword unlike any other. The man was ready to fight if he had to, which was something he was obviously trying to avoid until now. Toga, on the other hand, had no weapon in hand. Instead, he had kept his rifle on his back. The two of them were staring at each other; no hate was in their eyes, but there was certainly tension in the air. Something was wrong.
"It's good to see you, Yagari. Depending on why you are here, I may ask you to leave immediately," the Headmaster suddenly spoke.
"I have been gone for only a few hours at most to receive an order in town and already I can feel a change in the atmosphere of this place."
Katsu stayed exactly where she was as the two men continued to converse over whatever it was. The brown wolf sat herself down, making sure that her presence was not given away; for a little while she would keep it like that.
"So, I can safely assume that the Hunter's Association has given you orders to get rid of Zero," Kaien began, "I mean that would be the only reason why you would be here after going away for a little while."
"Yeah… I'm not surprised that you already heard of the order's existence."
"I can also assume that you will be the front of the attack the Association wants to place on my academy."
"Are you going to stop me," Toga asked angrily.
"I will do anything to keep my students safe."
Katsu cocked her head slightly. She was confused as to what was going on right in front of her. Why would the Hunter's Association want to have Zero eliminated so suddenly? Sure, he may be getting more and more out of hand, but it wasn't like he was about to go on a rampage. At least, that's what the brown wolf thought.
"Yeah, well…" Before Toga could finish his reply, a loud thud came from the other side of them; not where Katsu was hiding herself. A dust cloud had formed, making the men's vision to almost zero. For the brown wolf on the other hand, she was able to see what was on the other side of the dust cloud. She could see Zero, but there was something different about him. His eyes were glowing and he was holding his arm as though it was hurting him. His tattoo on his neck was glowing the same bright red color as his eyes; the veins growing moving further and further away from their center point.
How did he… When did that happen to him, Katsu thought to herself. She had just seen him moments beforehand. He was perfectly fine and no hints were given that he was in pain. Could that short amount of time really cause this to happen?
The brown wolf quickly looked upwards. She noticed that sunlight was just about to come up. Maybe time had passed by more quickly than the Suzuki pureblood had thought.
There's one thing I can do right now.
"Why don't you just get it over and done with," Zero spoke once the dust cloud had disappeared. The former human threw his silver gun, the Bloody Rose, towards the two vampire hunters.
"Zero," Toga spoke as he took a step towards his pupil.
With a deep growl, a brown wolf ran through the space left between the two vampire hunters. It ran towards Zero without a hesitation in its wake. Bright red eyes looked upon the former human as the brown wolf came to a stop and both ears were folded backwards, almost laying upon the wolf's neck. Teeth bared as another growl came rolling out of its chest. Its claws dug into the stone below it. Obviously, it was angry about something. Hints of red fur were seen with each breath the wolf would take as it stood there before the former human.
Toga quickly grabbed his rifle from his back and pointed it to the wolf. "What the heck is a wolf doing here," he yelled out.
"I have no idea," Kaien spoke as he stared upon the creature.
Zero looked down at the wolf, knowing all too well who it was. His bright red eyes changed slowly to their light purple color. His breathing began slow, a lot slower than earlier. He leaned back against the building he had jumped off of earlier. "Katsu, what do you think you're doing here," he spoke between each deep breath.
Toga lowered his gun a few inches, stunned. Had he heard correctly? Did he just hear his pupil speak Katsu's name to the wolf?
"Katsu," he whispered, trying to see if he could get the wolf's attention.
He succeeded.
The brown wolf's ears folded upwards, one turning towards Toga's direction. It was rather soon after that the wolf turned towards the man. Bright red eyes from earlier had turned to calm black ones. Both its ears folded downwards as the wolf stepped towards the black-haired hunter slowly; feeling guilty of something. Once the wolf had placed itself in front of Toga, its ears finally perked back up.
Hey, Toga, the wolf slowly spoke out.
"Katsu," the hunter spoke her name softly once again as he lowered his rifle down so it wasn't facing her at all.
The wolf walked closer to the hunter; her muzzle touched his leg gently. She was trying to make him calm down, but obviously he was still stunned for what he was hearing and seeing. Katsu's ears perked up, leaning forwards. It was towards the woods behind the two hunters that she was hearing something approaching and fast. Moving quickly, the brown wolf ran towards the edge of the forest; jumping up into the air just a split second after that. She managed to catch a former human in the throat without any warning to anyone at all. Her teeth dug into the flesh, staining her muzzle a dark red.
Once having landed on the ground, Katsu released the former human and turned sharp right; she was avoiding a second former human from attacking her. Since the former human had leaned downwards to try and catch her in its arms, the brown wolf was able to then turn right back around and attack. Her teeth digging into the former human's shoulder. Not even seconds had passed after that moment did the first former human finally burst into dust. The wolf whimpered in pain as the dust had gotten into her dark-colored eyes; in turn, this caused the release of the second former human.
By then, Toga had gotten himself straightened out and had his rifle ready. He shot the second former human before it could go after the brown wolf, the Suzuki pureblood. Once that was done and the two former humans had turned into dust, the brown wolf walked back over to the hunters. Sitting herself down just feet in front of the dark-haired hunter, Katsu shook her head and rubbed her muzzle against her front leg.
"Katsu, is that really…," Toga began
Jeez, are you people really unable to understand that it is me here, the brown wolf barked out, quite annoyed, Yes, it's me, Katsu Suzuki. The pureblood who took a human hunter as her master for just a few months in order to get to be a full-time hunter… Hello.
Shaking her head, the brown wolf gave a loud whine. It would have been a sigh had she been in her human form.
My goodness you people are weird.
"Katsu, could you just go back to your…," Kaien trailed off for a bit, trying to find the right words, "More human form."
Yeah, yeah. I was gonna get to that, but wait just a bit longer.
Right after that, the wolf looked to the sky. A long, deep howl followed after that. Lasting several seconds in a row. Once Katsu had finished with that, an answering call came from the direction of the Moon dormitories. The wolf gave a satisfied huff before that same transition from before began. The slow process of her body going back to normal. Her clothes still on her body as though they had never left in the first place. Her dark red cloak, dark jeans, white tank top were all there. Her weapons as well. It was like her body was not disturbed when she changed between wolf and human.
"So, are there any lingering questions out there," Katsu asked with an eyebrow quirked upwards. Her gaze looked from Kaien to Toga. She knew that he would probably be the one to ask the most questions, but he didn't say a word.
"Katsu," Kaien spoke up, "Could you explain to us how you got the powers of a vampire shapeshifter?"
"Ahh, that's what I've been looking for," the brunette stated first off, "See, it's not that I just got the powers. It's more like I've had them all along. I'm a vampire shapeshifter. One that lived over ten thousand years ago to be exact."
No one spoke for a while. Both vampire hunters stood there, stunned and unmoving. Neither of them even asked how the former human behind them knew that the brown wolf was Katsu in the first place. Just a few sentences spoken by the Suzuki pureblood about who she was and already the people before her were stuck.
"Let me explain from the beginning," Katsu stated, "All of you should know that ten thousand years ago that the weapons vampire hunters use now a days were created. Those weapons were created by the blood of a pureblood. That pureblood was my sister."
"Wait a minute," Toga suddenly spoke up, "You don't have a sister. You don't even have any siblings."
"That's where you're wrong, Toga," the brunette commented, "Now, I know this will make the Suzuki family suddenly untrustworthy with many people and vampire families; however, it was not our fault for having to do this."
"What are you talking about," Toga asked; his voice was raised slightly. Obviously unhappy about what Katsu was saying.
"I'm saying that Amaya is my sister."
