It's been how many years now since I have updated this fanfic? TOO MANY!
I'm so sorry. College got real for me. Then my health went downhill and to be quite honest with you all, still sorta is, but it's better. Then my job got hectic. Still will be. But for the past month, I suddenly got a lot of muse and just started editing and writing and holy hell, I'm a ton of chapters ahead of where this is actually at on here. YAY!
So anyways, I will be updating this one only once a month, so to keep me ahead of the game and also prepared if writer's block decides to take a major toll on me. Plus, my other fanfics need attention and my Instagram account for filter editing loves getting attention.
But either way...
I'M BACK!
Disclaimer: I don't own Vampire Knight nor do I make any profit from it
"What," Toga and Kaien both yelled at the same time. The dark-haired hunter more or less in an angry sort of way and the other in surprise.
The former human behind them slid down the building, finally sitting himself down upon the ground. His breathing was rapidly increasing. His right arm pulsed; something was flowing within him without delay.
Katsu cocked her head at her friend; dark colored eyes watched him closely as he partook in these actions. She began walking to his side. Kneeling down, her right hand came up to touch his cheek. With that single touch, Zero's eyes turned back to a bright red color.
The former human bared his fangs at her and tried to get to the brunette's neck; however, Katsu was able to move her hand to his neck. Her fingers dug into his skin, making him bleed here and there from each sharp nail. She pushed him against the building wall a bit more, trapping him between the building and her. Her own eyes flashed a bright red. A deep growl built up in her chest, waiting to be used if necessary; all the while she got herself up from her kneeling position.
"Zero, calm yourself," she spoke in a whisper, "Or are we going to have to place you in that little dungeon like earlier."
"Just go ahead and kill me," he spoke.
With those words, Katsu slammed his head against the building once. Only to injure him and nothing else. Small damage was made to the building, but not enough for repairs or anything like that. "Don't you dare say that," the brunette yelled, "Do you remember what I told you long ago? I told you that I was the monster! That you are nothing compared to what I have done!"
"You didn't say that exactly," the former human whispered.
"Well, take what I just said," Katsu told him, "And maybe we should take you to that dungeon once more. Let you think this through."
Having succeeded in finding the other Suzuki pureblood, the wolf named Tora quickly led her to the exact abandoned building the brunette had wanted him to go.
"Why did you bring me here, Tora," the ravenette asked the gray wolf. Amaya was currently within a bedroom within the abandoned building. She had to wonder why on earth her friend had brought her here of all places. It had been just after the ravenette had left the pureblood prince's side and now she was within protection once again. It was annoying. The small vampire was dressed in her Night Class uniform. Her vampire weapon in its holster. The Suzuki pureblood was standing near the window, thinking over what has already happened.
I'm sorry, Amaya-sama, Tora replied, But Katsu asked of it to be done. She said that this would be the safest place for you right now.
"It's because of him, isn't it?"
Most likely.
"Tell me, do you know anything of this man? All I remember is the time he attacked those people who took care of me when I was little." She was speaking of them as though they truly didn't mean anything to her. To the gray wolf, this could only mean a few things.
Amaya-sama, are you gaining more and more of your memories? Your powers, asked Tora. His golden eyes didn't look away from her as he asked that question.
"Yes, I can almost remember everything," Amaya replied, "I even feel like my personality is different since I have awakened."
That's good, milady. Very good. I'm sure Katsu will be glad to hear that when she arrives.
"She'll be coming here?"
Yes, soon. I hope…
Amaya looked out the window, watching the world slowly grow lighter with morning coming closer and closer. She pulled the curtains of the windows closed. Not wanting any light to get in, no matter how little.
It didn't take long for the brunette to help take the former human back to the small dungeon he had been in long ago. Since she had Kaien and Toga there to help her, it was quite easy. Chains around his legs and connected to the wall behind him, Zero constantly tried to lounge at the Suzuki pureblood. Although he couldn't quite do that since there was a cell door blocking his path as well. His bright red eyes watched her closely as she stood there, several feet away from him. Toga was standing beside her. Kaien was off to the side, a bit further away from the other two; he was leaning against a wall.
"So," Toga began, "Explain to us exactly how Amaya is your sister and why the Suzuki family has been lying to the whole world about this." His voice was deep and harsh. The brunette could understand why he would be mad, but there was another part of her that wished he would have been calm about this.
"Let me explain," Katsu stated, "Like I said, ten thousand years ago, the vampire weapons were made. They were made by a pureblood who sacrificed herself in order to make them. That was Amaya Suzuki, my sister."
"Why would she do that," Kaien spoke up.
Stepping back, the brunette looked over to the tan-haired Headmaster. "She did it because she knew that if she didn't, the human race would be in danger more so than they already were. Without these weapons, the human race would be nearly extinct by now or worse. They could have been completely erased from this world."
"Again, why?" This time it was Toga who asked.
"There are different types of vampire shapeshifters. Wolves, coyotes and jackals. Jackals are the one type of vampire shapeshifters that are extinct. They were killed off after Amaya and I were gone from this world. Wolves and coyotes are in a sense like purebloods in the sense of being low in numbers. We wolves are the ruling species. Coyotes, however, are blood thirsty and want to rule once again."
"Again?"
"Amaya had killed the ruling coyote long ago, making her the ruling wolf and placing wolves as the top vampire shapeshifter. Ten thousand years ago, some purebloods along with the coyotes rose an army, one that threatened the lives of all humans." Katsu paused, taking a deep breath after speaking for so long, "I know this is a lot of information to take in, but the books at the Hunter's Association don't have this kind of history. Only the books within the depths of the Suzuki manor have such knowledge."
"The dark presence," Zero softly spoke up, catching everyone's attention for they hadn't realized that he had gained some control over the beast inside of him, "The dark presence I keep feeling. Who is that?"
"He will be important soon enough," Katsu replied, "However, I would deeply like to know how he knew of the Suzuki secret if the only information of this was within the Suzuki manor."
"So, he is not of the Suzuki family," the former human asked.
"He's the man who attacked my sister when she was very young and still did not remember anything of her past."
"You haven't explained how you and Amaya came back here, Katsu," Toga suddenly stated, looking back to the brunette.
Without looking away from the silver-haired hunter, the Suzuki pureblood went on to answer the man's question, "We were both resurrected long ago and placed into a child's body that was similar to our own. I was resurrected in such a way that helped me remember everything of my past. There was a price to pay for that. My fast healing powers and the power to change others into vampires as all purebloods are granted of having was taken away."
"And Amaya," Kaien questioned.
"She was resurrected in a way that made sure she couldn't remember anything until a certain time, which was just a few hours or so ago. In order to help remember her past without her becoming a beast at the same moment, she needed to drink the blood of her past lover. Or in this case, drink the blood from her past lover's family."
"Past lover's family?"
"Yes. The Kuran family."
With those very words, Zero lounged at the brunette. He growled lowly at the very name of Kuran. "What did you just say?"
"One of the Kuran family's ancestors was Amaya's lover. What do you think of that," Katsu asked as she watched Zero struggle to get to her again, "I knew you would react to that, Zero. I'm sorry, but it is true."
"So that's why Kaname wanted Amaya nearby so suddenly," Kaien stated lowly.
"Yeah," the brunette commented as she turned to the Headmaster, "He was in on it from the moment Amaya had turned the age of sixteen. Grandfather… I should be saying Tayio Suzuki and I explained it to him what was going on and what we needed him to do. I didn't expect him to act the way he does though."
"What do you mean," Toga asked roughly.
"It's nothing you need to worry about right now, Toga," the brunette stated, "What we should be worried about is getting the students to safety."
"Oh God," Kaien spoke up, "I need to get them to the auditorium immediately!" The Headmaster soon ran off, leaving the hunter, former human and pureblood by themselves.
"How could one even think that he was a top ranked hunter at one point or another in his life," the brunette stated bluntly once the tan-haired hunter had run off.
The black-haired hunter gave a slight chuckle in response, "I have no idea." He turned to his pupil who was chained to the wall. He stepped towards the cell door and placed the silver gun his pupil used on the floor. "Just in case you've gained more control..."
In the meantime, just like how Amaya was in the abandoned building, so was the pureblood prince. He, on the other hand, was doing something else. He was trying to find the few Night Class members that were around at the moment. He was in need of speaking with them. There was even more favors the pureblood prince needed to tell them.
Finally, the small silver-haired girl named Seiren soon appeared before him as he left his room. "Kaname-sama, Amaya-sama is safely in a bedroom with the gray wolf right as we speak. As well… All of the Night Class students that are present are in the lobby currently waiting for you."
"Thank you, Seiren. If you would go stand next to Amaya's bedroom door, I would appreciate that," the pureblood prince stated.
"I can do that," the small girl stated before she left to carry out that order.
At the same moment, Kaname made his way down to the lobby. Once in view of it, the pureblood prince could see that most of his loyal followers were there. The blonde aristocrat, Hanabusa Aido, and his cousin, Akatsuki Kain, were nearest to the door. They were both in their trench coats and dressed in their usual attire. On the couches were the two girls, Rima Toya and Ruka Souen. They were both dressed in their usual attire as well. Their own coats were draped over the couches' arms. Those four were the only few that Kaname placed some trust in. The others not too much, hence the reason why he decided to send them to watch over the Day Class and not these people before him.
Senri Shiki and Takuma Ichijo were absent from such an occasion. The pureblood prince gave a soft sigh from thinking of the two. They were on the other side for the time being. Soon that wouldn't be the case.
Once the pureblood prince had reached the bottom of the stairs, the four aristocrats immediately turned to look upon him. "I bet you all are curious as to why I called you here," Kaname started out.
"Kaname-sama," Aido yelled out, "What's going on here?"
"Let me just say that a man in Amaya's past will awaken once again in a little bit… Something that I was hoping wouldn't happen for quite some time," Kaname stated.
"What do you want us to do, Kaname-sama," Ruka asked as she stood up from the couch. Her gaze watched the dark-haired pureblood carefully.
"I want you all to stay here for the time being. I want the four of you to watch over Amaya while I am gone."
"Watch over her," Aido questioned, "Isn't she able to take care of herself?"
"Sure, however, I feel if she meets with this man one more time, something horrible will happen to her. I do not want that to happen."
"Kaname-sama," Akatsuki spoke up, "I would like to understand why exactly you want us to do this."
"I just need some people of your skills and talents to watch over her for the time being," the pureblood prince replied after a while of silence, "Just keep the enemy away from her and keep her in this building until either I or Katsu come get her. Can you all do that?"
"Kaname-sama," Aido took a few steps towards Kaname, his gaze focused downwards, "I have been wondering… What kind of relationship do you hold with Amaya-sama?"
"I can tell you all that once Senri and Ichijo have come back to us."
They all went silent as with the last statement. All four had noticed the disappearance and sudden silent treatment the other two gave them all. It was both shocking and odd.
"If you all understand what I want you to do, then I will leave. I have business elsewhere," the pureblood prince spoke as he walked over to the door. Before Kaname could even place his hand upon the door handle...
"Kaname," yelled a small vampire.
The pureblood prince slowly turned around to face the person who called. He knew all too well that it was not any of the four voices he had been speaking to for the last couple of minutes. This voice was from the top of the stairs on the right side. Standing there dressed in her Night Class uniform was the ravenette, Amaya. Beside her was the gray wolf from before.
As Kaname looked upon her; his dark red-colored eyes seemed to soften just a bit and a faint smile crept across his lips. Old memories from when the two were together long ago carefully came trickling back to him. One after another. Small moments to those that lasted for longer periods of time. Since the pureblood prince was focused upon such memories, he hadn't noticed that Seiren had appeared beside him.
"Kaname-sama, I tried to stop her from coming out," the small girl told him.
"It's fine, Seiren," he told her calmly before he began to walk up towards the ravenette. His gaze did not leave hers; didn't even dare to leave. The pureblood prince reached her side in just a little bit of time. His right hand moved from his side, finally touching her left cheek.
"What is it, love," Kaname whispered so only the two of them could hear.
"Where are you going," she asked.
"I have some business in town that I need to take care of. I should be back soon, so stay here for the time being."
"What if Katsu…"
"You can leave with Katsu, if you promise me that you will stay by her side."
"I will."
"Good." And with that, the pureblood prince turned away. He left the Academy in a hurry.
Having placed the former human in chains within a dark cell underneath the Headmaster's quarters, Katsu and Toga quickly left the building since their tan-haired friend had done the same. Toga had left the Bloody Rose a few feet in front of his pupil, hoping that the boy would think over what he had said.
As the two were walking along, a loud laugh rang out from the woods to their right side. From the shadows came a man the brunette was all too familiar with. He was dressed in dark blue jeans, a white dress shirt, black boots, and a dark gray trench coat. His light blue eyes watched the Suzuki pureblood carefully as he walked to stand a few feet from her and her friend.
Katsu rolled her eyes as he took such actions. "What do you want from me?" Anger added a certain tone to her voice.
"What? You can't even try to say my name once," the man questioned.
"Katsu, who is he," Toga asked.
"His name is Kin. Kin Akiyama," Katsu went on to say, "He's a traitor among us vampire shapeshifters. He's a man to never trust ever again."
Kin placed a hand upon his chest, acting like he was wounded from her words. "My dear Katsu, why don't you just accept that you miss me…? That you love me still? I mean after all, you did finally say my name."
"Because it isn't what I am feeling, Kin."
"What? And he's my replacement or something?" The traitor pointed towards the dark-haired hunter standing next to his quote-unquote Katsu. "I will say that he does look like me; however, I don't think he knows how to treat you."
Not even seconds passed by once Kin had spoken those words. He had moved that quickly; the traitor had situated himself in front of Katsu. His hand wrapped around her neck just as his free hand pushed Toga away, sending the hunter into a tree nearby. "Do you really think I would let you run away so easily? You keep calling me the traitor when in reality it was you all along."
"What are you spitting out now," Katsu asked between harsh breaths. Both hands went from to her sides, grasping the man's arm to try and get him to release her.
"You just wouldn't understand that we had to upraise," the man continued, "We vampires had no choice in the matter. If we hadn't, we wouldn't have survived."
"I wasn't about to let the vampires go extinct either, Kin," Katsu spoke out, "But I wasn't about to let the human race go extinct either."
"You little bitch."
A shot was fired, hitting the man right in his arm. Screaming in pain, Kin finally let the Suzuki pureblood go. He backed up from her as he held his arm in his free hand; spitting curses here and there.
Once she had gathered up her strength, Katsu looked over to her right since the shot came from there. Toga was holding his rifle in hand; smoke was coming from the end of the barrel, as though it had just been fired off. His hat was on the ground. Now that the brunette took a closer look, she could see that the side of his head was covered in blood.
"Oh God," she whispered. Katsu turned back to the traitor standing before her. He was still screaming in pain. That was good. An advantage for the pureblood. Without warning the two men, the brunette quickly changed into the brown wolf with scarlet fur patches here and there. With a deep growl in her chest, the wolf tackled the man to the ground. Her teeth dug into his arm and she began to pull.
"Bitch," Kin cursed again, "What the hell are you doing? Are you actually defending these inferior-"
He was unable to finish for the brown wolf had pulled his forearm off, making him scream in pain once more. Stepping away from the man, Katsu shook her head several times, causing the limb to fly somewhere in a bush.
Maybe next time you won't side with the coyotes, the brown wolf snarled out. Having already attacked him once, Katsu was planning on doing it yet again, however, the traitor stood up. Even though he was in pain, he still stood up.
"I won't let a little girl like you get the better of me."
What happened to that loving personality before, Kin? Or have you finally realized in that sick mind of yours that I am my own person now? I am no one's!
With those words from Katsu, the traitor growled loudly. His body shivered violently as his body changed in a deep black wolf. Light blue eyes seem to shine silver in places. His right leg was half gone; giving him a limp and an advantage to the brown wolf. There was a scar on his right hip, something from long ago.
If you are not mine, then I will make sure that you can never be anyone else's!
Running towards Katsu, the black wolf reached out to bite her left leg as best as he could on three legs; maybe to get revenge for what she had done to him not even minutes ago. Stepping to the side, Katsu was able to dodge such an attack, however, she didn't notice that his left paw had reached out as well once she had dodged the previous attack. Claws dug into fur; to be precise, it was the brown wolf's right shoulder of which Kin had his claws dig into without a single second of hesitation.
Howling in pain as she struggled to get away, the brown wolf tried to bite out towards the other. She wanted him to release her immediately. If he didn't, her shoulder would be ruined for several weeks.
Another shot rang out from Toga's rifle. It hit the black wolf's right hip; he growled loudly, however, Kin did not release the brown wolf. Another shot, this time at his muzzle. With this shot, the claws in Katsu's shoulder retracted finally. The Suzuki pureblood backed away at the same time as Kin did. She whimpered in pain as her dark colored eyes watched the black wolf carefully.
He fell to the ground. His hip, his leg and his muzzle were all bleeding out. Some more rapidly than other parts. His breathing was practically halted. The traitor would finally die and leave the girl alone.
I can't believe that you are going to keep these humans safe from your own people, Katsu, the black wolf spoke. Before Katsu could even mutter a word, he was gone. He would no longer bother the girl.
Finally, out of breath, the brown wolf fell to the ground. Her right shoulder was facing towards the sky. With each short breath she took, Katsu could feel pain run down her shoulder. Kin's claws had not only ripped skin, but also had ripped the muscle underneath. She would be unable to move her shoulder for quite some time. Her blood had already stopped flowing out from the wound, sticking to her brown fur. Her dark colored eyes stared at the cloudy sky, unable to see anything.
"Katsu," a faint voice spoke from behind her. She knew all too well that it was Toga, but she did not move from her spot to look at the hunter. The brown wolf was in need of some rest. Her wound needed to heal and right now all she could do to help that process go by faster was to rest.
"Come on," Toga continued, "Do you always have to rush into things when it comes to fighting against a vampire?"
Idiot, the brown wolf snarled out.
The hunter chuckled lightly, "Your own fault, idiot."
Tch.
