Summary: Jack doesn't make it off the wheel in time. Takes place during DMC.

Round and Round

Just as Captain Jack Sparrow thought he had the key to Jones' chest in his hands, the flat of a blade slapped his arm aside. His eyes widened in surprise as Will Turner grabbed it, pulling himself completely inside the wheel. A third man, former commodore James Norrington, pulled himself inside too, the three of them engaging in a three way duel once again.

Jack, beginning to feel just a bit woozy from spinning round and round, braced himself against the wheel as his side was turning against the ground, blocking an attack from Will at the same time. He managed to grasp the key from his sometimes-ally's free hand, tearing it free from the thin rope it was attached to. The other man frowned, realizing what had happened. The pirate nimbly dodged a swing from him.

The wheel began to spin much faster, alerting the three men that they were now going downhill. The fighting ceased as they searched for something to grab onto, Jack quickly shoving the key inside his vest. The scenery flashed by in a blur and his head struggled to keep up with everything. Beginning to feel nauseous, he hoped that they'd stop spinning soon.

They flashed by what he thought was a battle. It certainly sounded like one. And Jack thought he could see twisted shapes swinging other shapes at each other, but he couldn't tell- everything was too blurry.

The wheel seemed to slow down a great amount, but Jack would feel it wobbling. Then, without warning, it fell over sideways. The three men cried out in momentary surprise as they splashed into the shallow water.

Jack reached an arm up to pull himself up, but felt his fingers connect with the wood rather painfully- he'd unintentionally smacked it. With a groan, he tried again, this time grasping the wood. He reached his other arm up, hauling his upper body vertical so he could see over the wheel. Still rather dizzy and his stomach against him, he retched over the side of the wheel. He cringed, wiping his face on his sleeve. He blinked several times in order to regain some control over his vision again.

Will and Norrington both were attempting to climb over the wheel, but the latter collapsed in the water on the other side, drenching himself and splashing water onto both of the others. Will grasped onto the wheel for dear life once he'd made it to the other side.

"Right…" The blacksmith saw what was indeed a battle, starting toward it, only to flop into the water and fail an attempt of getting up.

Jack would've smirked if he wasn't so dizzy himself. He hauled himself from his knees to his feet, putting a lot of concentration into stepping over the outer edge of the wheel, only for his second leg to get caught on it. He tripped, face planting into the water. He gasped in both surprise and the pain tearing through his leg. He struggled up to his other foot, pulling his stuck one free and planting it on the sand beneath the water unstably.

Norrington made it to his feet again, frowning, unsteadily starting towards one of the two longboats. He broke in a run toward it.

Jack felt his vest to make sure he had the key- he did. He drew his sword, stumbling toward the battle in search of the chest.
