OK so I've started a ME fanfic series including the fics ME:Past, Pressure, Future and ME:Disillusioned. They were both really fun to write but I'm afraid that I've lost interest in continuing on with what would have been a multi-fic series. I may finish Disillusioned but that's about it. It was quite an ambitious project that I unfortunately don't think I'll ever finish because as mentioned previously I'm not really interested in telling the story anymore. The series is up for adoption for anyone who wants to take it up, just PM me if you want to so I can see where you'll be taking the story.
Just so the story isn't truly unfinished I'm just gonna post my ideas for where it was going and tie up whatever plot threads I have left so far. So here goes.
History
So I don't think this is too much of a surprise, but Nathan Anderson was born Ethan Shepard. He's Rylee's older brother who was captured by Batarians on Mindoir. After going through the horrors of slavery and the incident with Morinth he had lost/repressed his memories. Batarians release VI's into system to delete records of everyone present on Colony so that once they are gone they won't be found including names, DOB and DNA records. When he was taken he was wearing a backpack that the Batarians let him keep. Inside was a family drawing/holo Rylee had done. After years it had been damaged so it could no longer be read properly. After the Morinth incident he uses the 'than from Ethan and comes up with Nathan. After being rescued he ran with the REDS. After Isaiah is killed by Darius, Jayden gets Nate fake documents and he enlists for the Alliance.
Magi
Magi are a group of genetically enhance people. Ilos wasn't the only secret project the protheans had. Another group had successfully hibernated and woke up after the Reapers left. They knew Reapers returned once a civilisation reached a certain point so they knew they had to be careful in accelerating development considering it would just bring the Reapers back before they were ready. They took a small group from the primitive species, Asari, Human, Salarian and Quarian and reared them for generations in secret, so they were trained to view Protheans as respected guardians.. They had the sole objective of defeating the reapers, a small sect were allowed to re-integrate with their respective societies so drive them forward. i.e. Einstein, Archimedes so they could adequately fight the reapers in the future. It was soon discovered that those who were sent back to their species lost track of the objective and veered from the plan i.e. after the reaper influenced Rachni started the war, the reintegrated salarians decided to uplift the Krogan which ended disasterously. This meant they had to slow down the reintegration process or the Reapers wouldn't wipe them out because they would do that to themselves.
They do have the advantage of developing technology far superior to what's present because they started from the protheans. But they couldn't get their hands on the material without potentially alerting Sovereign, whomb they noticed was gradually making its way to them, meaning for 40000 years space travel was extremely rare. As a result their technology is very advanced, like the drug that stopped Liara's bleeding, but not as far as it should have been. They are able to develop indoctrination counter measures but it's not perfect. They had kept Sovereign at bay for 5000 years but because they could never actually find it they couldn't destroy it. After seeing how the public reacted to the Sovereign by covering it up they decide to remain in secret but flexed their influence and accelerated their plans because they didn't think Sovereign would become that desperate.
Disillusioned
After Nate is killed the Alliance tries to cover everything up about Reapers and makes Nate look like he was crazy. Rylee and Liara do the Admiral Kahokou missions and discover Cerberus. With Nate dead, control of his Syndicate is given to Rylee, but she tells Blake she should run it as she see's fit.
The investigation into the Normandy's destruction leads to Geth being blamed. They try to pass off any Reaper talk as tiredness getting to Nate and him imagining things. Rylee is disgusted and her behaviour at the hearing results in her being honourably discharged. After a month of self-hatred and drinking she's approached by Miranda. She's invited to speak with the Illusive Man, who reveals that he knows where her brother is located. She's so desperate for good news that she falls for it and Rylee along with Jacob go through the events of Mass Effect Galaxy. She was already a SPECTRE candidate along with Nate so as a reward for saving the Council they offer her SPECTRE candidacy which she accepts. She also joins Cerberus because they are actually fighting the Reapers and she wants to see her brother again. She doesn't know about the Lazarus project.
Once Nate's body is given to Cerberus, and Rylee is made a SPECTRE she takes control of the Syndicate and allows Liara to use it for her information brokering.
A month before the events of ME2 the Illusive Man calls Rylee so that she may meet her brother again. She's told he is in the operating theatre and is in recovery on Lazarus station. When it's reveals that Nate is really Ethan she almost falters but regains composure. The first thing she does is use syndicate to run checks on everyone on project Lazarus and uncovers that Wilson was working for Shadow Broker and has him killed.
Mass Effect 2
First thing that changes is that Nate isn't forced into action because of Wilson's betrayal. So Nate is allowed to wake up and get up to speed at a slower pace. Rylee handles everything from Freedoms Progress to Horizon. On Horizon Ashley is just as angry that Rylee is working with Cerberus but she never see's Nate come back. Rylee lets Nate take control of team seeing as that was always the plan. But Nate refuses, instead opting to follow her lead seeing as she was already doing such a good job. Rylee also tells Nate that Cerberus and T.I.M are the same. Nate hates it but understands they are the only ones taking Reapers seriously.
Rylee is very uncomfortable around Nate since she knows he's her brother, but Nate doesn't pick up on this. Instead he opts to believe that it's because he's a perversion of nature. People had grieved his loss and moved on so he doesn't feel like he belongs in their lives. This is further compounded when Liara is cold to him . Only people who treat him normally are Garrus, Zaeed, Grunt and Jack because they don't care about the legend or his resurrection. Liara would eventually break things off so she can focus on the shadow broker and Nate could focus on the Collectors.
Nate has an existential crisis so he wants to have some proof he's real and not some AI. He wants to reconnect with the past he forgot. This is made worse on Garrus' loyalty mission when Garrus questions if it's really Nate when he tries to push Garrus away from revenge. Also made worse when Toombs tries to kill him on the Citadel because the real Nate wouldn't work for T.I.M and he's forced to kill him. He would have his own loyalty mission where he asks Liara for help finding out who he is. Liara finds where Nate was rescued, looks at who were associated and narrows it down to 2 people. They find out he was from Mindoir but because all records were deleted he can't be certain of who he is. He's distraught but then Rylee comes clean.
Things are awkward between the two of them because Rylee is guilty and Nate is angry but they are able to put it aside for the mission. Jaden and Nate are back in each others lives because of the Cerberus connection. They become friends again but Nate is uneasy over Jaden's distrust of aliens. Jaden even helps trap Morinth.
The Collectors raid the Normandy while the crew is fighting the Batarian slavers.
Rylee was going to romance Thane and Nate would have a rebound thing with Jack.
Nate handles Arrival and gets arrested for destroying the system. Jack is pissed off because she thinks he's giving up. Rylee has her SPECTRE status revoked and is arrested by the Council for working with Cerberus.
Mass Effect 3
Now that Reapers are here, the Magi start becoming more active. The other species are far more prepared for the Reaper threat and casualties aren't as high. Earth actually receives some warning and the crucible is already being built in secret. Magi is also the secret backer of the Andromeda Initiative. They still don't know what the catalyst is.
Other changes-
Nate helps organise earth's forces with Magi help but eventually they are overwhelmed and Nate has to leave aboard the Normandy. Rylee is released by the Council so she can fight the Reapers and they both have their SPECTRE statuses restored.
Traynor doesn't catch the Grissom Academy distress beacon. After Mordin cures the Genophage and Thane is killed by Leng, Nate and Rylee go on the offensive with Cerberus and attack the Minutemen station. There they find that Jack's students have all died either from experiment or the invasion. Jack survives and Nate rescues her. She's very angry at him for leaving her to suffer, after he promised to never let this happen to her. Jaden is the one running the experiments and Nate can tell that he's indoctrinated so Nate is forced to kill him.
Jack joins the crew because she wants to destroy Cerberus and the Reapers for what they've taken from her but she wants nothing to do with Nate. Nate smooths things over when Liara points out that she learned Jack's real identity. She's called Jennifer Rivera and she's Major Rivera's daughter.
Not sure if it would end with Nate and Jack or Nate and Liara.
Garrus's family manages to get off Palaven safely because Sidonis sacrifices himself to get them on a shuttle.
Magi have a cure for Kepral's syndrome but Thane is too far gone even by the time ME2 started.
Any other plot holes I haven't filled in feel free to PM me.
That's about as far forward as I was thinking with this story. Thanks for making it this far.
