AN: Ive Written this at 5:54 in the morning and haven't slept in more than 24 hours at this point but I have been wanting to write for what feels like an eternity and now that there is a break in my job here I go attempting for the first time in what I think has actually a year or more... anyways hopefully this is okay. I may contine onward but i'm unsure if any of my original followers actually remain. sadly due to how long i've taken all my WIP files on the Doc Manager have been lost and the Usb containing the originals is lost swallowed up by this god forsaken room of mine. likely dead like my hopes and dreams.. whatever the case I just wanted to type and upload something again and for once in my life. do something I enjoy again. god this job has sucked all my passion and creativity away for what's been almost a year now. I haven't had an actual dream in so long. I haven't drawn or written in so so so long... anyways hopefully this fever dream of a chapter is good and the start of a return to my old passion.
"Dust Damn it Adel I told you to stand back!" Blakes voice was a yell despretly trying to yell over the roar of the flames surrounding them.
I didn't think it would explode! What did you want me to do let him sta-" her response was cut off by another explosion coming from in front of them the shcok wave of which sent them both back to the floor. "fuck. C'mon Blake we need to get out of here" she recovered quickly and hoisted Blake up.
"I am very aware!" Blake fumbled with Gambel Shroud as the stability of the warehouse they were in deteriorated around them faster and faster. It was a simpple mission a search and recuse mission. A team of hunters had tracked down a White Fang cell operating in southern Vale at the docks. Supposedly they were keeping hostages there. People and faunus they used for various means like Labor and distractions for Grimm. However the report neglected to mention it was a trap all along. The Warehouse was far to easy to enter and when they got to the center they found themselves conered like rats by a cat. A would-be ambusher went for a swing at blake when coco opened fire setting off red dust in some cargo crates that lead to a chain reaction. Now here they were in the middle of a burning warehouse hopping across the towers of boxes that kept them above the growing sea of fire. "Grab my waist ande for the love off Oum dont let go!" She grabbed coco and swung her weapon at a near by support beam and jumped, the momentum from their swing sending them throuigh the nearest window and out off the burning building.
"too Fast!" Coco cried out and gripped Blake tight turning to take the impact as they fell to the hard floor, outside the smoldering building, her aura breaking on impact.
"Are you arlight?" Blake was quick to her feet checking on Coco who groaned out in response.
"y-yeah. My aura took most of the hit" She grumbled and stood up using Blake for support.
Blake held her up and they slowly made their way out of the docks to a safe zone. Blake smiled a bit and looked to Coco "i guess they hadn't planned on the warehouse exploding with them in it" Blake stated somewhat prouldy after a moment of silent walking. Coco looked at her perplexed so she continued "no one was waiting outside to greet us.. we technically took out the cell on the docks." Blake smiled at her hoping the realization would cheer her psuedo-partner up. Coco didnt seem to cheer up at all though.
"hopefully thats all we took out..." Coco looked back as the warehouse finally collapsed on itself its smoldering embers bieng blown into the sea by the cold air. "Blake. You dont think"
"No.. it was a trap. Trust me no one knows their tactics quite the way i do. They wouldn't risk losing that in a trap... Velvet is fine. And so is everyone else they've taken... we just need to find them.. wherever they have them.."
Coco seemed content with this answer as they traveld slowly through the ruined streets. They passed through a small parlor and Blake used this oppurtunity to sit Coco down in a seat to rest for a moment. The Journey back would be at least another two hours on foot if Coco remained in her exhausted state. Not that blake was any better for wear. Her Aura was critically low after all the explosions and a couple hits she took for Coco earlier. "we should rest or a few minutes let our Aura recharge." Coco nodded in agreement taking her sunglasses off and blinking her eyes staring to the night sky. Blake sat across from her and they fell into a comfortable silence Coco taking the time to check on Velvet's camrea making sure it had taken no further damage.
"I was really hoping she would be there.. Im glad she wasn't now but still... i thought we had finally gotten a lead..." Coco looked at the broken lens her finger tracing over the jagged cracked lens theraputically. "d-do you..." she stopped on her words almost afraid saying anything would cement the possibility into reality. "Do you think she's still alive? It's been almost a month now.." She was so focused on the lens, staring at her split relection in the glass, the gentle touch of Blake's hand on hers starled her slightly.
"I know she is. Trust me she's alive and we will find her." Blakes gaze was soft and warm "i wont leave till we reunite the two of you." She thought about the promise she had made to herself. She would never leave a partner in need again. Looking at the pain in Coco's eyes made her wonder what Yangs eyes must look like. Was she just as hurt by her disapearence. Was she angry at her. Was she sad.. both? The thoughts left an odd feeling in her stomach. She had run when she had needed her most.. left her behind at the airship.
"I know blake, " Coco's words took her out of her thoughts. ", And after that i'll help you face her again.. I know your thinking of her again aren't you? I can see the fear in your eye's." She reached over and gently cupped the faunus' cheek in her hand "you'll get your peace and i will have mine. We made a deal after all didn't we?"
"Well it was more a promise to Velvet's family b-" Coco gave her cheek a soft pat and glared at her "yes.. we did." Coco smiled in response and stood up kissing the top off Blakes head the endearing and almost motherly action filling the faunus with memories of Yang making her heart feel as though it was being curled up in a bundle at the thought of how she had betrayed all of those tender moments.
"C'mon, Blake. We better move before your nostalgia and depression start pulling in Grimm" Coco stated as she began to pack the camera away putting her sunglasses back on feeling well enough to move unimpeaded for now.
"and you won't cause that?" Retorted Blake
AN: going to make a conscious effort to keep these chapters short still. I remember someone told me once that they liked the shortness of them.. but I will make them longer if requested.
