I am done for the year and I feel much better wooo! Thank you so much for your patience and support for this story even though I was busy and sick. Now we can continue with this epic saga!
The group continued walking through the cold Isles air, the twins happily conversing with the dragon slayer in prankster bliss. Hermione sulked in thought, Natsu's words echoing through her head. Ron shook his head at her pouts, sighing in mild frustration.
Hours passed, the group still surrounded by densely populated trees and bushes. "Are we there yeeeet?" Natsu groaned, his stomach growling loudly. "Not sure. Dad where are going?" Ron called from the back. "Haven't the foggiest!" Arthur laughed. "Wait, so we're lost?!" Natsu exclaimed, halting in his footsteps. "No we're not. Keep up everyone!"
"Uuuuuugh!"
"Stop whining all of you!"
Everyone shuffled along the leafy path, muttering in distracting conversations. "Man, I'm starving. But I'm glad we're walking and not taking a car. Guah!" Natsu flinched as he felt thousands of miniature daggers staring at his back, most likely for the confrontation earlier. "Not to mention Hermione's on my back now… Gee Erza's gonna kill me…" Natsu turned back slightly, catching her eye slightly. And if looks could kill.
"Arthur!"
Everyone looked up from their conversations, feet, or breaking deadly glares, turning their attention to the voice. Arthur waved casually to the man who waved them over. "It's about time son!" The man laughed, walking towards the group as pots and pans dangled from his bag. "Sorry Amos! Some of us had a sleepy start…" Arthur sighed, eyeing his youngest son, Ron responding with an eye dodge and an almost whistle. Natsu snickered at the look, Fred and George just ruffling Ron's hair.
"Everyone! This is Amos Diggary! Works with me at the Ministry!"
Amos adjusted his glasses with a smile, and adjusted the bag on his shoulders. "Wait, Diggary?!" Natsu climbed over Ron's back, pushing his head out of the way to see better. Ron angrily protested but was ignored. "As in-"
The next thing Natsu knows, a stone was thrown square in his forehead pushing him off Ron. "What the hell?!" Natsu proclaimed, standing up with absolute fury. "Will you stop using Ron as a podium?" Natsu immediately felt irritated. A black and white blur jumped from the tree above, the man eyeing Natsu with a smug smirk.
"Gray you bastard! What was that for?!"
"You were harassing Ron, so I helped him!"
"Why are you here anyway?!"
"I invited him."
A new figure jumped down from the tree branch, smiling as he brushed the wood dust off. "Ah, this strapping young lad must be Cedric, am I right?" Cedric smiled, taking Arthur's extended hand. "Yes sir."
"Wait! You invited Ice Princess?!"
"What did you call me?!"
Used to their antics by now, Harry pushed the two apart lightly by the chest. "Come on guys, let's enjoy ourselves." He reasoned, turning his head between the hot and cold rivals. A few seconds of grumbling later Natsu turned heel and storms off. Gray huffed, stuffing his hands in his pockets and followed suit.
Ginny and Hermione gave each other a little bit of a smitten, mixed with confusion and concern, and followed after the others. Harry gave a big sigh of relief, rubbing the back of his head. "Merlin's beard you must be Harry Potter!" Amos gasped, grasping Harry's hand and shaking it. "Great, great pleasure!" He beamed with a hard shake. "P-Pleasure to meet you too sir." Harry nodded, Amos slapping Harry on the back as they walked.
The sun was on the horizon, everyone huffing up a clear hill. "Gee, it was supposed to be a good weekend, and you of all people had to show up!" Natsu grumbled. "That's my line! When Cedric asked me if I wanted to come, I just wanted a peaceful, fun weekend without morans like you!" Gray snarled back. "What did you say?!"
"Guys cut it out already!" Ginny called from behind. "Ah let the boys have their fun." Amos laughed, passing the rivals. "Ah there it is! Right there!" Amos pointed at the top of the hill, an old manky boot. "Come on everyone, get into position, we don't want to be late!"
"What is that?" Natsu scrunched his nose slightly, squatting at the boot. "It's a boot idiot."
"I know that jerkwad! But what is it?" Natsu poked the boot slightly, the fabric wiggling slightly on contact. "Alright everyone gather around!" Amos called, everyone circling the boot. "But what is it?" Harry repeated. "It's not just any old manky boot." Fred smiled, taking his position. "It's a portkey." George finished with a smile.
"Alright everyone on three!" Everyone grabbed a side of the boot, Harry, Natsu, and Gray looking at each other in confusion. "One! Two!" Amos looked up just in time to see the boys still staring. "Boys!" The boys snapped out of their trance, grabbing onto the boot at the time of three.
Everyone felt themselves lift from the ground and spin into the air. It was as if the world froze for a second, before everyone got sucked into a lightning vortex of smoke and wind. Gray gritted his teeth, trying to hold on for dear life. He looked around, everyone looking calm. And then there was Natsu. "DON'T YOU DARE THROW UP ON ME!" He yelled, Natsu only groaning in response. "Let go kids!" Amos yelled. "WHAT?!" Everyone gasped. "Let go!"
Gray hesitated slightly, before looking back at Natsu who looked like he was going to give way any second. And he would rather be lost than burned. He let go, the wind carrying him back. Everyone soon followed his example, screaming as they felt like they were flying into a hurricane.
In a split second, Gray felt his back hit on something firm. He groaned as he sat up, holding his head. He looked around, everyone else sitting up with that same spinning feeling. "Oh thank God solid ground!" Natsu sighed, kissing the ground. "Better rinse your mouth before you see Lucy again." Gray snickered. "Shut up!"
A laugh came from above, Cedric, Amos, and Arthur laughing at the mess of wizard confusion, walking down from the air towards them. "Bet that cleared your sinuses." Arthur laughed, Cedric offering Harry up onto his feet.
"I never want to do that again…" Natsu whined. "Well get used to it. The road you're on, you'll be feeling worse." Hermione sneered with a cold eye and walked past him. Natsu said nothing, Gray watching in great confusion at the confrontation. "What was that all about?" Gray asked. Natsu shot him a serious look, Gray's eyes widening in realisation. "You mean…? She….?" He whispered once everyone was in front of the boys. "Not now. We'll discuss it later. Let's enjoy ourselves today." Natsu whispered, patting his shoulder. Gray stared at Natsu as he walked towards the others.
Gray tsked, adjusting his bag and running towards the sound of cheers and flag waving. The site was amazing, filled with joy and laughter. Music filled the field, witches and wizards flying over with grace and excitement. People cooking and marching with national and sport pride for the event that was to take place later that night. Needless to say, this was going to be an awesome weekend.
"Well kids… Welcome! To the Quidditch World Cup!"
