Jax Is Really Alive

Chapter 47 Recap Jax spends the night thinking about everything that Opie said to him. He wants to put his relationship with Opie back together. He calls Tara and she tells him that she's still not allowed in Charming, but she has a lead she's working on—Abel was given medication. She's got a download of all the pharmacy records in the area. She hopes she can find ouf who got the medication that was given to Abel. She also tells Jax that if Opie didn't want to save their friendship, he wouldn't be in Charming.

Jax and Opie make their way through the tunnels to the conference room they are using for Abel's search. JC (formerly Juice) is already there. He's looking through traffic cam video when he spots another person back from the dead—Miles.

Chapter 48 Charming Sign

Jax, JC and Opie stared at the image. There was no doubt about it; goofy, kind of dumb Miles had come back to life.

"I wonder if he knows I've come back to life too," JC said.

"He wouldn't have any reason to know," Opie said.

"No, he might know. Aranora knew you were alive. She could have told before she was killed," Jax said.

"Miles is going to come after me," JC said. "He didn't steal the brick of coke. This all goes back to Roosevelt threatening to reveal my father was black. I thought I was saving the club by cooperating."

"I know what that's like to feel like I'm saving the club when in reality I'm fucking it up," Jax said.

For the first time, Jax had some compassion for the choice JC made. He had been lied to by the police and he just wasn't smart enough or strong enough to stand up to Roosevelt.

"Roosevelt wanted me to take a sample of the coke, but Phil was coming so I put it down the front of my pants. I went outside, sat under a tree and fell asleep. I hid the brick. I was going to put it back, but Miles caught me. It's the classic kill or be killed."

"Clay was right. He said Miles was too stupid to steal from us," Jax said.

"Do you think dying and coming back could have improved Miles' intelligence?" Opie asked.

"Maybe," Jax said. "I think we are going to have to assume that Miles is smarter than the Miles we knew."

"You think he'll come after me?" JC asked.

"I think you need to assume he will and be ready," Jax said.

"Or he might be OK with you killing him because his life is better now," Opie said. "You should still stay alert," he added.

"Does anyone know how many of us there are?" JC asked.

"I don't think they even know how many. There were some rogue aliens that did some fertility experiments before Ryland and the queen's group," Jax explained.

"Miles might have had Abel," Opie suggested.

"I think kidnapping your boys has some kind of alien connection," JC said.

The three men began looking through the traffic cam videos focusing on finding Miles. They worked together any hard feelings for past wrongs were gone. They were solely focused on finding Thomas.

At noon, sandwiches, chips and glasses of iced tea were brought in to them. JC told them about how happy he was to have parents that loved him in his life now. He seemed to be in a good place, but Jax couldn't help but wonder if Juice/JC had really moved on. He had caused some horrible things to happen to JC. He didn't think if he were in JC's place he would be so forgiving.

Opie shared that he and Donna had gone through hard times, but were committed to each other and raising their children together. He didn't mention Donna's life threatening miscarriage.

Jax talked a little about how he and Tara had faced their problems and were working on their relationship, but finding Thomas was the most important thing.

That afternoon, they took all their sightings of Miles and JC put them together based on the time code. They were hoping it would give them some idea of what Miles was doing.

Louise returned to help them. She called Hale and asked him to put out an "attempt to locate" on Miles. Jax felt optimistic that Miles was the key to finding Thomas. Sooner or later someone was going to see Miles.

Tara checked in with Jax in the afternoon. She hadn't had any luck with her prescription research, but she was excited about the Miles lead. Ryland had lifted the security lockdown. Jax was going to pick her up and then they were going to pick up BBQ for everyone except JC who was having dinner with his parents.

Opie wasn't allowed to come with Jax because he didn't have the security clearance. It irritated Jax, but this wasn't the time to challenge Ryland. It was easier to take a calmer view of Ryland now that he knew that he hadn't had sex with Tara.

Jax drove out to the GPS coordinates to pick up Tara. She was waiting for him. As soon as she got in the car, he leaned over and kissed her.

"I missed you today," he said.

"I missed you too. It was strange working in that bunker alone."

"I have a really good feeling about this Miles lead," Jax said.

"It's a comfort that Abel was returned here. Thomas has got to be nearby. I don't have to wonder where in the world the boys are."

"No trip to Ireland for us."

Jax drove back to Charming. He rounded a curve, the car's headlights lit up the "Welcome to Charming" sign. There was an addition to the sign. Nero. He had been decapitated and his head nailed to the top of the sign. His arms below the elbow had also been removed from his body and also nailed to the top of the sign so it looked like he was reaching out with his arms, palms up. The rest of his body was discarded under the sign.
