A/N: For those who recently read Dawn of Chaos and followed the Demon Priest/Arago angle closely, Arago hinted at a possible comeback in the future before he perished in Chapter 60. Well, here we are the future Taiyoukai War that occurs one millennia later during the Crystal Tokyo/5Ds period. Instead of writing a full story on the war, me and Ford have complied a summarized fic instead.
This is won't be too comprehensive, but a brief summarized outline of what one of the final major conflicts in the YYGDM timeline will look. Anyway, have a look.

Setting: It's set in a gap between events post-Ark Cradle and the Yusei vs. Jack's final duel from episodes 152-154. Also set during this interval period is an unnamed conflict dealing Divine/Sayer and a revived Arcadia Movement.

The Past
Long ago in the beginning of the universe's creation, there was nothing but chaos. A shard of chaos slips through and creates the realms of Reikai, Makai, and Meikai. It is a formless being who is the first Taiyoukai that's based on the 'Hadean' geographical time scale. The Hadean Taiyoukai spread its presence into these lands. His presence helped create its sun, moon, and stars. The Hadean seals itself in the center between the three realms in a deep slumber. But not before it also spawns enormous, wild Primordial Taiyoukais that birthed many other creations.
They, too, are based on the geographical time scale in prehistoric times even if their names are unclassified:
Archean: A being that looks like a Microbial mat. It forms diverse minerals for the three realms such as rocks and granite.
Proterozoic: It looks like a cross between a Box Jellyfish and a Amoeba. It creates bacteria and the first lifeforms such as jellyfish.
Cambrian: A creature that looks like a Trilobite and an Anomalocaris. It forms the seas, creator of the weather, and creates trilobite demons.
Ordovician: A squid taiyoukai that looks like a Nautiloid and Cthulhu. Creates more first lifeforms such as squid demons that look like the Old Ones.
Silurian: A cross between a Brontoscorpio and Pterygotus. Creates the first fish demons.
Devonian: A Chinese Giant Salamander with traits of sharks such as the Megalodon. Creator of the first amphibian demons.
Carboniferous: A Meganeura creature with traits of a Arthropleura, Pulmonoscorpius and is covered with Foliages. Creates insectoid beings and the forests within, even plant-like demons (Madeira's ancestors).
Permian: A creature that looks like a Synapsid. Creates the first reptilian demons.
Triassic: A sea monster that's cross between a Tanystropheus and an Icthyosaur. Creates reptilian demons of the sea.
Jurassic: The first Taiyoukai that looks like a Anchiornis. Creates the first flying demons such as birds (also Relam's ancestors).
Cretaceous: A kaiju-like armored dinosaur that's based on Tyranitar, Godzilla, and with powers that are mightier than Mount Fuji. Creates the mountains and powerful fauna (such as the first dragon demons, no wonder where Kiryu and Long's ancestors came from).
Paleogene: A Taiyoukai that looks like a Chalicotherium. Creates mammal demons (Ironclaw and Shishi's ancestors).
Neogene: A cross between a Wooly Mammoth and Gigantopithecus. Creates simian demons (Yeti and Vigor's ancestors).
Finally, it turns out that Arago himself is based on the Quaternary era, as he is the first Taiyoukai with advance intelligence.
Together, the Taiyoukai are the dominant race of Spirit World and the Makai. They are indeed the equivalent of prehistoric animals such as dinosaurs and mammoths. However, something separates them is intelligence and awareness. Once the humanoid demons evolved in parallel with ancient humans, the domain of the Taiyoukai became endangered and they fought hard to retain their prideful sovereignty. In time, the humanoid demons created technologies and their own civilizations in order to utilized strategies to drive the Taiyoukais to near extinction.
Arago led his forces and the Primordial Taiyoukai to war over territory. Even before that, he once drove the Tenyou clan to near extinction in order to taste their spirit energies to augment his. Arago asked King Enma for support (they are formerly old friends), but Enma turned the Taiyoukai down because he is too dangerous to be trustworthy.
Angered by Enma's decision, Arago and his forces waged war with Spirit World. After a heated battle, a group of warlocks (the Kuroshishi's ancestors), a few Tenyou, and Lady Artemis (the first Moon Goddess and mother of Queen Serenity) unite to bring down Arago. King Enma also receives support from a female Tenyou that look like Natsuki's OZ Avatar from Summer Wars and Kaguya Otsutsuki from Naruto. As an agent of Queen Artemis, she is a catalyst to avenge the Tenyou from Arago's hands. It is Queen Artemis' arrow, powered by her Silver Crystal (which she created from her tears), that destroys Arago's body, leading to his spirit being sealed in three Demon Stones. Arago and his forces are ultimately sealed to Meikai by Enma's forces for millennia.

Crystal Tokyo/The Future
It is now the future of Crystal Tokyo, ruled by Neo-Queen Serenity. These days the age of heroes has been passed over to the next generation: the Neo Senshi (the children of the Sailor Senshi), the Neo-Spirit Detectives (Yusuke and co's successors), and the Signers (Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, and co). Even with the threat of the Dark Signers, Z-one, and galactic enemies behind them, humanity sees their darkest days as Arago and the Taiyoukai return for a final vengeance.
Having recollected enough of his full demon body, Arago has revived himself staying true to his promise to wage a final war with Spirit World and their allies. Although he gave his enemies props for beating him, Arago still wanted to claim all realms for himself and his Taiyoukai cohorts. Shortly after his revival, he released the demon prisoners and the Taiyoukai from limbo to take revenge on their enemies. He gave Long and Kiryu top positions in his faction. The faction lay siege on both Spirit World and Makai, declaring war on everyone associated with Spirit World. To further push the forthcoming war, Arago revives the Primordial Taiyoukai to up the stakes and force Spirit World to take action. If that wasn't enough, he warns the Hadean will soon take root from its millions upon years slumber. The awakening of the Hadean will bring unfold disaster to all physical realms.
The Taiyoukai War was now in full effect and both sides had a month to prepare.
Yusuke Urameshi decides to take full responsibility of this. Yusuke, who is now the king of Makai and still the same ol' wisecracker he was in his golden days, will lead his forces, the Neo Senshi/Detectives, and even the Signers against Arago's forces.

Ultimate Weapon (Bigger Bad): Hadean
-Sensui is temporary revived to help Yusuke's faction. After the war is over, Sensui will be back to his resting place.
-The Signers ask Sherry LeBlanc to join them again, who has been reformed since the Ark Cradle event. She accepts and helps redeem her previous alliance with Z-One, also to repay a favor for helping them save Akiza from a once believed dead Divine/Sayer.
-The Neo-Spirit Detective bring out their best resources. Mizuno and Brimstone return from Digital World to reunite with the Detectives and lend support.
-The Signers use their Dragons and assortment of their regular & synchro monsters.
-Akiza's psychic powers are fully tapped, allowing the Signers and any participating Duelist to bring to life their monsters, magic, and traps. Prior to the war, Akiza was taken captive by Divine/Sayer (thought to be dead) and ultimately had their psychic powers released at their full capacity, turning her loose on her own friends and attempting to revive the Arcadia Movement. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Neo Senshi/Detectives and Signers, they bring Akiza back to her senses and defeat Sayer/Divine (ultimately lobotomized by Akiza herself). Despite her psychic powers under better control, Akiza is now considered one of Earth's most powerful meta-humans.
-The Neo Senshi access their Dai-Valkyrie armors for the war.
-The Planetary Senshi, the Kuipers, Valkyrie Maidens, and any remaining Digiteam members are on standby at Crystal Tokyo.
-The Deadly Triad, once hired by Tarakune, are now the good guys. Sadly, they are killed against the Taiyoukai.
-The Shichi'okamitai, Lycan warriors based on the Band of Seven from Inuyasha, join thanks to Mika Hayashi. Most of the Lycan clan are also killed when fighting the Taiyoukai.
-Kiryu and Long fuse into KiryuLong.
-The new Taiyoukai Eight can fuse to OmegaDraco.
-Yes, the Super Demons are like Super Saiyans. Suzaku looks similar to his Murugu Armor only his hair goes straight up, can go Prism of Seven Times Fourteen, and has an electric aura. Karasu has the same blond appearance only some of his front hair goes straight, electric aura, and his explosions are augmented. Rando's hair becomes blond and electric aura. Momotaro's is not monstrous like his Chimeric Armor, his form is the same as a human, but wears a golden armor with his three animal spheres and electric aura.
-The Demon Ninjas resemble the Shadowkhan from Jackie Chan Adventures.
-Demento's forces mostly retreat early on in the war. They're not taken seriously.
-Genbu can become a gargantuan stone-like turtle with his face retained. But his weakness remains the same and be easily killed by Kurama and Maya.
-Seiryuu can transform into a malevolent, Asian dragon with his cloths, facial hair, and frozen skin retained. Sailor Blue Mars finishes him, which makes her father, Hiei, proud.
-Sadly, a few of the non-mook Makai faction perish in the end, but most die with honor. They are killed by OmegaDraco, KiryuLong, and the Primordial Taiyoukai. Ex. Chuu, Shishiwakamaru, and Beautiful Suzaka sacrifice themselves to take Super Momotaro down. Hokushin and Kujo are killed by OmegaDraco.
-Kyo and Selipa fight their former Demon Knight colleagues. Mizuno joins and gets payback by killing Toki.
-The first Primordial Taiyoukai destroyed is Cambrian. Members of the Neo-Spirit Detectives take the creature down.
-Younger Toguro and Genkai vs Kairen and Elder Toguro.
-When Kairen meets his final death, Elder Toguro absorbs Kairen's powers to enhance himself into a muscular gargantuan, taking on an appearance akin to his brother's 100-120 percent form. He fights his younger brother to the bitter end, but Younger Toguro destroys his depraved brother and makes him cease to exist for good.
-Mukuro easily and brutally kills her hated father, Chikou, and makes him cease to exist. She and Demona/Deedee finally meet. Demona reminds her that she was supposed to fight her for the third Demon King position, but was a no-show because she was turned into a bat by a rival succubus demon. Together they bring down a Makai Demon Worm.
-Each Primordial Taiyoukai are taken down one at a time, but at the cost of soldiers.
-With help from the Neo Senshi, Akiza unleashes her psychic powers to bind Silurian and sends Black Rose Dragon to destroy it. Akiza turns loose and kills hundreds of mooks with her Duel Monsters.
-Leo and Crow get to use Lifestream Dragon and Black-Winged Dragon respectively. They help fight the Primordial Taiyoukais.
-At some point, Arago will recognize Neo Moon/Chibi-Usa and link her to her ancestor Queen Artemis, the first Moon Queen and the one who destroyed his body with a holy arrow. He didn't get a chance to make the connection in Dawn of Chaos due to being caught up with Tenyou!Yui, but now has had time to draw this conclusion. He aims to eliminate Neo Moon and Tenyou!Yui at all costs.
-Hiei kills Vigor with the Dragon of the Darkness flame.
-Yasha is reunited with her mother Tsukiyomi, who is mind-controlled thanks to a collar made by KiryuLong. Yasha destroys collar and convinces mother to fight with her. Tsukiyomi turns loose on KiryuLong.
-Yoko Kurama slays Super Karasu.
-Yusuke and RJ defeat Super Suzaku and Super Rando
-Cammy and Neo Moon neutralize OmegaDraco with her Digital Priestess powers. The five Signer Dragons unite to bring down OmegaDraco.
-Arago and KiryuLong fight Yusuke, RJ, Tenyou!Yui, Sensui, Raizen, Yomi, Mukuro, Enki, Shura, Hiei, Kurama, Yasha, Rio, Kohana, Kyo, and Selipa. KiryuLong kills Enki, leading to Kokou to try avenging her husband, but she gets broken and left for dead. Arago easily defeats the others (ex. mortally wounds Yomi, breaks Mukuro's back, knocks Yasha unconscious, tears through Sensui's sacred light defenses), leaving Yusuke, RJ, Raizen, and Tenyou!Yui as the last capable ones to fight Arago.
-The last Primordial Taiyoukai destroyed is Cretaceous. The five Signer Dragons unite to bring the armored tyrannosaur demon down. Shooting Star Dragon and Red Nova Dragon deliver finishing blow to Cretaceous.
-Tenyou!Yui transforms into Shaka for the final battle. Yusuke and RJ finishes KiryuLong off for good. Arago stalemates Raizen and Shaka.
-Near the climax of the battle, Arago reveals his ultimate weapon as the Hadean Taiyoukai itself. The formless chaos has been released from the deepest depths of the three realms. Arago then fuses with Hadean to have the first Taiyoukai in its physical form, in which Arago gains traits like Aku from Samurai Jack underneath his armor.
-A final battle erupts between the forces of good and Hadean!Arago.
-Neo Moon activates her mother's Silver Crystal to wash away the darkness Hadean!Arago is spreading all over Earth, Makai, and other realms.
-Yusei once again activates Over Top Clear Mind to perform Limit Over Accel Synchro Summon (turning him and his Duel Runner gold, implying a god-like power) to unite his friends' Signer Dragons powers to form Shooting Quasar Dragon, which used against Z-One recently, to deal a critical blow to Hadean!Arago. However, the Taiyoukai lord adamantly refuses to go down and uses the Hadean's power to vaporize all the realms.
-Just then, the spirit of the same Tenyou that supported Enma appears to help the heroes in the brink of defeat. Yusuke and Shaka are given a mystic spear (an instrument forged by the first Tenyous) to neutralize and finish Arago. After an arduous and epic battle, Arago is finally defeated (alongside the Hadean Taiyoukai, which perishes; Reikai, Makai, and Meikai are finally stabilized without its influence). Nevertheless, before Arago ceases to exist following his final defeat, he is thankful of honoring his race and the battles he experienced.
-Post war: Without Hadean influencing the realms, balance is finally restored to Earth, Spirit, Makai, and Meikai realms. All slain demons and apparitions that supported Arago are sent to their prisons in Spirit World and Meikai. Demento and co. are later found and arrested. Slain demons and warriors fighting for Yusuke are honored for their sacrifice. Toguro and Genkai go back to Spirit World together. Yusuke's Makai reign continues. King Koenma and Yusuke have deemed any and all half-breed demons with Taiyoukai blood given a chance to live their lives peacefully and won't be persecuted for having ties to the ancient beasts. Neo Senshi/Detectives and Signers return to Crystal Tokyo to give good news to Neo-Queen Serenity. On their way back to Neo-Domino, the Signers split to do their own things and reunite sometime after, leading to Yusei and Jack's last duel. After that, they hit their Duel Runners for one last ride. This is the Signer's final hurrah as a team and give their Signer marks back to the Crimson Dragon.
The era of the Taiyoukai is finally over.

My commentary: There it is. The Taiyoukai War told in summary format. This is the best I can do as I don't have any plans to write a full story that chronicles the whole war (mostly due to conflicting with time and committing to my other writings). Should I ever write a Taiyoukai War story, it'll be a long time down the road.
The format of the war (the way Ford formatted it at least) seems identical to the Fourth Great Ninja War arc that's currently ongoing in the Naruto manga (and Shippuden anime), but with various differences. I would call this a better handled Great Ninja War (meaning no multiple villain switches the way Kishimoto did it!). This story also doesn't seem it'll drag on the way the ninja war has. If writing the Taiyoukai War, I'd try condensing as much of the war and not go overboard like I did in some parts of Dawn of Chaos. Then again, it is a war and lots of battles can/will happen. Notable eye catchers: the Kaguya/OZ expy (the Tenyou lady) is a force of good here and helps turn the tide of the battle in favor of the Makai faction. The Hadean Taiyoukai has the Aku origins and when Arago absorbs it takes on some of Aku's notable features.
The OST selection consists mainly of Asian-theme and epic war-like battle music. I can imagine the OST used from Samurai Jack, Onimusha, Afro Samurai, and YuYu Hakusho here.
The Primordial Taiyoukai have been sealed under Makai for millennia. Why Arago didn't unseal them to being with in Dawn of Chaos was because he didn't feel any need to interrupt their slumber, but he greatly underestimated the Spirit Detectives' advancements in techniques and strategies. He would not make the same mistake and called for his predecessors to help claim all the realms. Once learning Yusuke became the Makai king, it further motivated him to accelerate his revival and challenge him for the Makai throne.
This also makes up for the war arc that was intended to happen during YYH's final arc, which changed into the Makai Tournament instead. I just imagine how a full-scale demon war would've been like. Having the Taiyoukais (Primordial and the Eight) and every demon who despise the Spirit Detectives unite to engage Yusuke's faction just seems fitting for a grand-scale war showdown. This also resolves the Taiyoukai conflict once and for all.
The war not only ends the age old Taiyoukai era, but their evolutionary tree as well. Besides possible half-breed descendants, the full-bloodied kind will become extinct. The half-bloods, quarter-bloods, or far off descendants are all that's left and they're not considered threats (most are civilized demons who want to be left in peace).
Not only is this the end of the Taiyoukai age, but it's the end of the 5Ds team as we know them. This is the final battle they're involved in with the Neo Senshi/Detectives. Anything post-Ark Cradle occurs here. The Signers have one last ride shortly after the war and the Crimson Dragon will take their Dragon Marks, allowing them to live their lives normally.
Another tidbit to elaborate on: Sayer/Divine returning. This is more of a reply to 'Generic Reviewer' (if he/she reads this) about his whereabouts. As mentioned in this summarized outline, he does return and according to Yu-Gi-Oh's tenth anniver. anime book, I learn he's revived after the Dark Signer arc and he's arrested by Sector Security and sent to the Facility. Well, let's say he somehow escapes, rounds up whatever Arcadia Movement followers he has left (or gets new ones), and tracks down Akiza. This leads to the Signers along with the Neo Senshi/Detectives (and I even include Sherry LeBlanc to rebuild her relationship with the Signers and fill in for Akiza who's captured at this point) to track down Divine. Akiza, without her inhibitors and under Divine's control, is sent against her own teammates. Things go downhill until Akiza gains control of her self and turns on Divine. Actually, this could make a decent future (chronologically speaking) arc reuniting the Crystal Tokyo/5Ds team before the Taiyoukai War. Kinda like an unofficial (albeit short) third 5Ds season that segues way for a movie/special. Sounds like a neat plot bunny for a gaiden arc and/or special, eh? :D
Queen Artemis: the first Moon Queen, who during her time, was mother to Queen Serenity, grandmother to Princess Serenity/Usagi, and great grandmother to Princess Serenity III/Chibi-Usa. Unlike her descendants, she has brown hair, but has the trademark 'bunhair' style they're known for. Her origins trace back to her time on Earth ages ago as a master archer of an Amazon tribe. She would later have a relationship with Lycaon, the first Lycan in history who was cursed by Zeus. She helped her lover, whom she considers the best hunter, to overcome his transformations, but he leaves her to no longer become a burden to her. Him biting people led to more Lycans (as a result, Okami is born later). When he dies, a part of his soul becomes the Moon Heart Crystal to which he lets her use in times of need and her tears for his death produces the legendary Silver Crystal, unsealing her goddess powers. With these two crystals, she leaves her tribe on Earth, builds the Moon Kingdom, and dons a white dress to proclaim herself the first queen of the moon. She becomes a force to be reckoned with.
What does Lady Artemis have anything to do with this? Well, she's responsible for destroying Arago's body to begin with (and doing so begrudgingly for King Enma, who she's not on good terms with, but both put aside differences for this moment) using an arrow imbued with the Silver Crystal's light. She had already given birth to future Queen Serenity and when she died a part of her spirit remained within the Silver Crystal, which by this point Neo-Queen Serenity and Neo Moon now wield. And it ends up coming into play against Arago, who recognizes the pure white light (the tear of Artemis). Her many supporters include the Lycans and Tenyous. One of her main agents is the Kaguya/OZ unnamed expy who ultimately avenges her Tenyou race and gives a spear to Yusuke & Shaka to end the Taiyoukai lord for good. Although she's gone, there's belief Lady Artemis may still be out there in the universe possibly ascended as a higher being.
Well, it's been done. I may go back and add a few more details on the outline. The unnamed Primordial Taiyoukai and the Kaguya/OZ expy may be given names later. I advise checking this entry every once and a while to see further updates, but this is it for the most part. Thoughts on the summary? Wish you can see this (and my proposed Divine/Arcadia Movement revival plot bunny) materialize? Well, not sure about the war, but the Divine plot is an open possibility. :3
