-Episode 7: Into A Loop-
After returning to base and landing the ship, the Freedom Fighters and Geoffery St. John walk out onto the runway and start going over exactly what happened on both their chance encounter and the mission itself, as well as some words regarding Sonic's reckless actions. During their walk back to the briefing room, Sally and Geoffery seemed to be getting to know each other.
"So your Freedom Fighter branch was wiped out?" Sally asked.
"We were hit out of nowhere. All my teammates were killed before I called even raise a whimper for help." Geoffery replied, recounting the tale from his perspective.
"I see... " Sally said, replying with a tinge of disappointment in her tone, perhaps holding onto a slither of hope that some Freedom Fighters were still out there. It had been over a year since any of them contacted Darcy The Dragon or any of the handful of others they met in their struggles.
"I'm sure a handful are still out there. " Geoffery said, as if to try and reassure the chipmunk.
"AHEM. " Sonic abruptly coughed out, as if to get some attention, though all he got was a mildly irritated look from Sally.
"Man, sorry, I must have a chill from today.." Sonic said before he groaned and stretched his arms upwards.
Soon after, the team arrives back at the base with Geoffery, who claims that he has Intel regarding the source of Eggman's attacks, as well as the possible current whereabouts of the many freedom Fighters that went missing.
"If my Intel is correct, Eggman is planning his next attack on the mining town in the northern side of Mobius. Given the resources this town has accumulated, its doubtless that Eggman would want them in order for his ambitions to be realized." Geoffery explained as Nicole displayed the town he is talking about: a town of industrial might and a wealth of resources ranging from metals to rare forms of rocks.
"But what ambitions could Eggman be looking to achieve?" Sally questioned.
"Could it be some kinda really powerful robot?" Sonic suggested, a theory that might not be too far from the truth.
"Hmm, that very well could be the case." Geoffery said, giving credence to Sonic's suggestion.
"Ack, its alvays ze giant robots! Why not a fluffy Teddy bear or somsing?" asked Antoine in a rather humerous way, obviously trying to hide his cowardice.
"You're not scared, are you Antoine?" Bunnie asked, seemingly catching on to his attempt at hiding his fear.
"Nono! No vay!" Antoine blurted out, to which Bunnie giggled about.
"Alright, we'll go and investigate the mining town. It shouldn't be too far from here." Said Sally as she stood up.
"Wait, right now?" asked Sonic.
"Yes, right now." Sally replied, with everyone else agreeing soon after.
With everything said and done, Sonic walked back to his living quarters in order to prepare himself for what lies ahead. However on the way back, he heard Tails call out to him.
"Sonic!" the fox called out as he flew over to him.
"Hey Tails. What's up, lil' bro?" Sonic asked, as if he knew what was on the fox's mind.
"Do you get the feeling that this whole thing is a little...I don't know, suspicious?" Tails asked genuinely, seemingly having this feeling since they met Geoffery and him moving in so quickly on Sally.
"What do you mean?" Sonic asked back.
"Like, he just happens to turn up outta nowhere right when we were in trouble, him just talking to everyone so casually, and also how he moved in on Sally. Its like...He's trying to lower our guard?" Tails said, trying to explain where He's coming from.
"Ah come on, Tails! He seems like a pretty chill guy. I think it's just all in your head, lil' bro. " Sonic said, giving Geoffery the benefit of the doubt. Just as Tails is about to object, Sally calls Sonic about them needing to get going.
During the trip, Tails thought again and again about the encounter in his head. How did Geoffery find them in such a remote part of Mobius and on top of all that, why did Eggman's retreat seem so... rehearsed?
The last shot focuses on the team flying in the Tornado towards the mining town.
