-Episode 8: Mayhem In The Mining Town Part 1-
Upon reaching the old mining town, the Freedom Fighters exit the Tornado and head into the town itself, only to discover that it had seemingly been abandoned entirely by those who were once it's inhabitants. Geoffery kneeled down and picked up some of the unusually colored substance that decorated the ground.
Sally then turned to Geoffery and started to ask questions.
"Are you sure the Intel was accurate, Geoffery?" she asked as her first question.
"I'm positive. I wouldn't have asked to come here otherwise." Geoffery replied somewhat firmly, a tone that caused Sally to flinch a little.
"This is boring, I'm gonna go ahead.." said an impatient Sonic, who then proceeded to sprint off.
"Wait, Sonic?!" Sally called out to him, reaching her hand out, but her calls fell on deaf ears.
"He'll be fine. We need to keep moving." Geoffery said as he started to walk, with Sally and the others following shortly after. The Mining towns abandoned state left something of a chilling atmosphere in the air, something a quivering Antoine is all too aware of.
"Are you cold, Antoine? Do you wanna head back?" Bunnie asked him with genuine concern.
"N-no.. I am fine, Bunnie.." he said with a near whisper.
As the two of them share a little further exchange, Sally looks in the direction Sonic sprinted off in with an expression of concern, while Geoffery walks to behind one of the structures behind the team and puts his index and middle finger onto an earpiece.
"Be ready. He's coming." He said, with a slight twisted and evil smirk.
Meanwhile, Sonic is seen at an inhabited part of the mining town. He looks around to see mobians running away from the robots trying to slay them. Sonic, as if acting on instinct, starts sprinting towards them and destroys a portion of them with his homing attack, with the robots falling one by one as the people began to flee.
As Sonic continues to fight off the mechanical soldiers, a bigger one strikes him to the ground.
"Ungh!" he exclaimed before sliding across the ground on his feet. The robot took three earth-shaking steps in the direction of Sonic, who stands up and smirks.
"Heh, you gonna take me to your boss now, ya bucket of bolts?" he said, trying to see if he can get a reaction. Suddenly, a radio frequency can be heard before a voice starts to speak.
"Sonic, what's happening?! Sally said you ran off on your own again! You need to stop being so reckless and putting the entire team at risk!" said Nicole, speaking from a place of concern for the hedgehog's wellbeing.
"But there are people in trouble, Nicole! I can't talk right now!" Sonic said as he dodged blows from the bigger robot, before sprinting past the print of the robots stomping foot, with a slow motion shot showing the moment before the stomp, which Sonic avoids just as it happens.
"Darn, this one's tough.." Sonic says, just before the robot knocks him away, causing him to smash through one of the mining towns houses.
"Sonic?! Sonic, what's happening?! Sonic!" Nicole calls out to him, with Sonic unable to hear her because of the pain.
"Ngh…" Sonic grunted as he attempts to stand up, but the robot stomps on him hard enough to keep him from moving. As Sonic struggles to get out of the grasp he's in, a figure walks over to the blue hedgehog, who is revealed to be Doctor Eggman.
"Sonic The Hedgehog, you will regret being born…Weak and mobian…" Eggman taunted before the robot starts crushing slowly and with increasing intensity. Sonic starts to genuinely struggle for his life, before letting out a pain-filled cry for help.
This cry for help was soon answered by the silhouette of a familiar female chipmunk, who uses her holographic blades to slice down the torso of the robot, which stumbles backwards from the damage it sustained.
"What?! Who dares?!" Eggman yells out, before looking on at the silhouette, whom the last shot focuses on. But… well have to go back a bit before we come back to this.
