A/N: Bet you didn't expect I'd revive this section again?
Well, yeah I know there's been a dry spell with Gaiden. I haven't had many plot bunnies as of a late to bother reviving this. But, a few ideas have popped up quite recently, including this one.
Thankfully, this is a collab two-parter with long time reader and follower, Chaosblazer. This helps to ease my writing updates since I'm still working on Cross Generations and the latest chapter was pretty heavy.
Now this Gaiden is important for two reasons:
1) It's set during a brief interval for the YYGDM cast between Chapters 23 and 24 of Cross Generations (technically, Chapters 22 and 23 actually; there's a chapter in the story that's labeled Chapter 14.5).
2) The narrative is a prelude that will establish and set-up some plot points for the next story and final saga in YYGDM: Wrath of the Defiants.
Additionally, this is a follow-up from Chaosblazer's side story titled Riding Duel! Vs. Psyren! So, Psyren and Kensuke have already been 'acquainted' and he hasn't forgotten about paying her back from their last duel.
Ok, so now that we have that out of the way.

Prelude to the Defiants, Part I

Dimension: YYGDM-01/Azabu-Juuban District/Karin & Dimitri's Condo/May 2012/6:30 PM
Shortly after defeating Zamasmon and the Black Ascendant Triad, the heroes returned home, but not completely victorious. They retreated in a rare defeat against the mastermind behind the anomalous agents: Zeed X. Zeed X proved too dangerous and overpowered for heroes. What's worse, Zeed X revived some of the worst villains not only out of YYGDM-01, but also the DF-616 and GLK-1113 dimensions.
Because of this, the heroes were forced to retreat once Zeed X's dimension started collapsing.
It's been two days since that encounter and most have had time to decompress.
However, a few haven't fully recovered. This especially pertained to Karin Osaka and Dimitri Ishida, who've had to witness their future daughter, Athena, and her partner, PinkPatamon, self sacrifice themselves during the conflict with Zamasmon. The half-Ascendant child and her partner set off the spark that allowed for the Ascendants to power-up; she also enabled Tai/Omega X, Kensuke/Dramon X, and Dimitri/Angemon X to once again merge into Gaiamon X to vanquish Zamasmon.
Reviving Athena and PinkPatamon would've been easier said than done with the Digicores. However, thanks to Zeed X's last minute intervention, his anomalous power rendered all Digicores inert. Not even the Spirian Digicores can help.
With the death of their future daughter still hanging over them, the couple took this the hardest. And as if that wasn't enough, Zeed X put Karin's brother, Kensuke Rainer, through hell by infiltrating his mind and making him think his friends were all Zeed X. As a result, he accidentally killed three heroes thinking they were Zeed X. It was all a ploy by the anomalous villains to destroy Kensuke's reputation. As a result of this tragedy, Kensuke retreated to his home dimension: dimension XLR-8.
This put double the distress over Karin, who's had to deal with the loss of her future daughter and her brother leaving them. However, she had one glimmer of hope her brother would return to help them defeat Zeed X somehow and restore the Digicores to revive their loved ones.
In the kitchen, Karin tried making some pudding for more than three. She saw Dimitri and Faith looking out the balcony; both of them were deep in thought.
"Karin! We're ready for some pudding!"
Hearing the jubilant tone of a certain child, Karin gasped and turned over to see Athena seated at the dining table with PinkPatamon. A smile formed on Karin's face.
"Athena…!" Then, she came to a quick realization her mind played tricks on her. She saw no one occupying the table chairs. She shook and let out a whimper cry. "Get it together, Karin… she's gone…" She pushed the pudding bowl away and walked away from the kitchen.
"Hey, girl! Chin up! We'll pull through this!"
Karin instinctively turned and saw Christina sitting at the dinner table. The cheery idol jovially smiled and waved to her.
"Christina..." Karin smiled until she once again realized her mind played a cruel trick on her. 'Christina' vanished from her seat. She then whimpered.
"Karin, are you ok?" Dimitri asked as he approached and comforted her.
"Yeah… no, listen I need to step out. Please I need time to myself."
"Sure, of course. Do what you can."
As Karin reached for the door, Dimitri put a hand on her shoulder.
"We will get her back. PinkPatamon, too."
"I hope so, but they seem so far out of reach now with the Digicores inactive and Zeed X out there waiting for us," Karin muttered. "I'll be back later. I've got my phone. If brother comes back, let me know."
"Right, be careful."
With that, Karin hissed his cheek and walked out, leaving Dimitri and Faith behind.
"She gonna be ok?" Faith asked her. "I'm really starting to miss PinkPatamon's teasing."
"She just needs time alone is all. We all need it every now and then."

Nexus of Time and Space
(Cue Seether - Forsaken)
Ken gripped his head. The memories of what had just transpired not too long ago with him striking down Tagiru & Gumdramon and Tike plagued him badly. Try as he might, he couldn't let go the fact that he had taken people's lives due to Zeed X's deception. Soon enough though, he was turned around by someone grabbing him and punched so hard in the face that he landed on his back. Opening his eyes from the impact, he looked up and saw Zeed X no longer, but Slade Matrix who sported a disapproving look.
"Get over yourself already. You've been through this before, so why is now so bad?"
Ken got to his feet. "I don't know, I feel like that shouldn't have happened."
Slade shrugged. "Well it did, shit can happen to even the strongest fighters if they don't train their minds. That's your problem, you're powerful as hell and a genius when fighting, but when not in battle, your mind becomes vulnerable." At this moment Darkstar appeared. "You can't keep me back this time."
"I know, I was keeping tabs. Kind of figured you would've showed up to save at least one of those casualties from happening though."
Slade sighed. "I was too far out, even then one of them would've died for sure."
Darkstar shrugged. "You still sure awakening his latent abilities was a good idea? It's obvious to the rest of us he might be able to kick ass physically, but his mind ain't ready."
Slade sighed. "I don't know, but what I do know is we've got to be better prepared in case this happens again." Slade replied as Ken glared at his hands.

Dimension: YYGDM-01/CainCorp/7:30 PM
Meanwhile, the head of CainCorp, Cain Bearer, summoned his colleagues for a quick meeting. So far, only Lady Psyren, Dragoon, Zealoss, and Grapplo turned up for the meeting.
"Is this all?" Cain asked his assistant Grace Groves, who stood beside him.
"Trask says he's on his way up to meet with…"
Cain sighed, getting up from his chair. "Fair enough. We can begin now and fill him on the details when he gets in."
"So, what did you call us for, Mr. Bearer?" Psyren inquired to her boss.
"Good thing you brought this to my attention, Psyren. You see…"
"That can wait, Mr. Bearer. In fact, there's business I'd like to discuss."
(Cue The Dark Knight OST - Why So Serious)
Taken aback by this newcomer's voice, Cain and his cohorts scanned the room.
"Did anyone follow you four?" Cain asked them.
"N-No, sir! We made sure to look behind us on our way in," Dragoon replied, looking around.
"Oh, my apologies. How can you see what it's there? Here let me help with that," the voice belonging to a soft-toned man appeared to them. He was seen sitting in Cain's seat.
"What the devil?!" Cain snapped, shocked by the newcomer's sudden appearance.
The man wore a gray suit complete with a hat and pants. He wore a pinstriped long-sleeved coat. He was a faceless man with zero features. No eyes. No nose. No eyebrows. No mouth. He was literally a faceless man.
Despite no mouth, the man was able to convey his message verbally. "Cain Bearer, I presume?"
"Who are you?! And how did you get by security?!"
"Relax or you'll pop a blood vessel," the faceless man calmly responded to the distressed entrepreneur. "A man at your age shouldn't be enduring high stress levels, but given your line of work and the day-to-day activities running multiple divisions within under one corporate umbrella, it's no surprising." He walked over to Cain. "Your face shows signs of aging and years of stress. That's all the proof I need to know to determine your health status…" He paused when Grace stood between him and Cain.
"Get behind me, sir," Grace dropped into a boxer's stance.
The faceless man merely nodded. "Hiding behind a woman, are we, Cain? Then again, she shows more courage than you'll ever exhibit. It's a shame her talents are being wasted protecting a little man behind a powerful facade."
"What do you want?" Cain calmly beckoned Grace down.
"I'm what you call a harbinger to tell you of certain events that have yet to unfold, and of events that have already taken place in other dimensions parallel to this one."
"Other dimensions?" Psyren was confounded by this statement.
Grace frowned. "Cain, surely you don't believe…" She was then cut off by her boss.
"How am I to believe you? A stranger that shows up and doesn't even show his face…" Cain noted the man's faceless visage. "Take the mask off and we'll talk."
"Oh, I assure you…" The faceless man's face morphed into Cain's own, which startled the entrepreneur.
"What?! But, how…?!" Cain gaped in aghast.
"He literally just changed his face to look like you, sir!" Dragoon exclaimed.
"Satisfied? Or, do I need to persuade you any more?" The man asked, speaking in Cain's own voice.
"That's enough," Cain replied, finding himself creeped out by the mystery man's presence. "Fine. Talk. What future events are you referring to?"
The man's face changed back to its original faceless visage. He got on Cain's desk computer and turned the screen around to show them an alternate YYGDM future dimension. It was the Divine Enforcer future.
"This is dimension YYGDM-DE," the faceless man revealed. "And yes, what are you seeing is an alternate dimension parallel to the one you currently live on. I estimate this is 4-5 years into the future from the current point."
"Wait, that's…!" Grace gasped as she saw the Divine Enforcer leaders: Sailor Moon, Yugi Muto, Suzakato, Yusuke Urameshi, Sailor Sedna, Brunhilde, and Marty Stonebagel."
"That can't be…!" Grapplo was taken aback with this. "This has to be a prank video, right?"
Zealoss scoffed. "How do we know he's not just ribbing us?"
"Very simple. Look at the date of this footage," the faceless man pointed to the recording date of the footage.
It was labeled: 05/12/2017.
"2017?! That's five years away from our time!" Psyren cried out.
"And I can assure you this is authentic future footage. None of this was tampered with. This is not some found footage or mockumentary viral video. What you're seeing is another future," the faceless man stated, plainly giving them their universe's alternate future.
As they continued to watch, some had shocked expressions, but Cain wasn't entirely convinced.
"Why should I still take your word and this isn't all fabricated nonsense?" Cain demanded from the mysterious individual.
"On November 2, 2012, there will be an attempt on your life by a Meta assassin. He would've missed his target on you after Miss Groves here took the bullet for you and then the group known as the West Coasters thwarted this assassin. Prior to that, this assassin was being pursued by the West Coasters," the faceless man warned him of the future to come. "Now while your life was saved, your bodyguard died in the line of duty protecting you. That enabled you to hasten your anti-Meta plans. With all your resources, you, Mr. Bearer, made last minute recruitments, and bolstered your Defiant numbers to counteract the heroes and every Meta. You and your Defiants would usher in a conflict which will be known as the Defiant War. Many Metas were captured, including a handful of Japan's heroes. Though, by capturing some of their own, you declared war on the other heroes. You really thought you could start a conflict without a form of retaliation?"
Cain frowned. "Then, what? How did it end?"
The faceless man nodded. "On December 21, 2012, the Defiant War reached its endgame. I can't confirm nor deny whether events will play out similarly, but you Mr. Bearer are met with a brutal end to your life. And this happens after your Defiants end up killing some of the heroes. The biggest casualty was Agunimon, who you personally executed, Mr. Bearer." He purposefully concealed the Warrior of Fire's real identity. "By killing this individual, you seal your fate. Shortly after, the heroes' leaders decide to reorganize their efforts and shift their democratic policies by transforming their agenda into a global-scaled ruling body. They would take an autocratic direction. They would redubbed themselves the Divine Enforcers."
The next thing the faceless man showed: the rise of Neo Crystal Tokyo. The next scene showed Sailor Moon transform into Neo-Queen Serenity. Suzakato & Guilmon, Yugi, Yusuke, Brunhilde, Sedna, and Marty are seen garbed in Divine Enforcer uniforms.
"The Divine Enforcers upheld authoritarian power. Free speech was all but dead. Even the slightest disturbance to peace meant immediate arrest. Neo-Queen Serenity is given the keys to the entire planet. This, Mr. Bearer and company, is a possible future you may end up facing. Hell, they've already briefly appeared in this world during an attack by that giant Bender-looking robot. Your world's heroes, including their leaders, quickly defeated them. The Divine Enforcers were here and gone before you even knew it."
There was immediate silence in the room.
Grace recalled. "Yes. Cain, we did see the heroes' leaders wearing some strange-looking uniform garments. That had to be the Divine Enforcer counterparts."
Before Cain could speak, a door opened. Entering the office was Neuromancer/Dirk Montgomery. The man quickly noticed the faceless guest.
"Cain, who is this?" Neuromancer asked, eyeing the newcomer. "And why does he have no face?!"
"Dirk, hold on!" Cain demanded.
As Neuromancer took action and activated his Reality Jewel, he tried to alter the guest's surrounding reality. The faceless man got up from his chair and watched the whole place become a prison. However, the faceless man was unfazed.
Neuromancer blinked in confusion. "What? How is it not working on him?"
The faceless man chortled. "So, that's one of the Jewels of Eternity I've heard so much about?"
"What?! But, how did you…?!" Before Neuromancer could finish, the faceless man was already standing beside him.
"What the hell?!" Dragoon exclaimed, blinking as he just realized the faceless man shifted from one side of the room to the other instantaneously.
"How did he do that?!" Grapplo shouted.
There's no way he's huma-! Psyren's train of thought was intercepted by the faceless man as his voice telepathically spoke to her.
You're quite right, woman. I'm not. His voice was heard chuckling deviously in Psyren's mind.
"What are you…?" Neuromancer asked as the faceless man phased his hand through his head and took out the Reality Jewel. Thankfully, Neuromancer was relieved the man didn't have to punch or literally rip the jewel out of his head. He gasped when the faceless tossed the jewel in his hand.
"For such miniscule looking artifacts, they're not half bad," the faceless man examined the Reality Jewel. "I can feel its power resonating simply holding it. You've been this jewel's holder for quite some time, yes?"
Neuromancer anxiously nodded, unsure of what to predict from the mystery man.
"And this was one of Apophis's jewels. Yes, quite powerful. If I had all six of these, I'd have more than enough to defeat my enemies. Buuuuut, I don't need such enhancements," he put the Reality Jewel back into Neuromancer's head. "And I take it you've been in conflict with a group called the West Coasters?"
"But, how did you-?"
"I know all," the faceless man proclaimed. "I know how this entire dimension operates like the back of my hand already. And also understand your group of Rogues are contained and working for your new boss there." He glanced over his shoulder and saw Cain. "And I know you're holding another one of the Jewels of Eternity."
Cain gulped. "...but you said you don't need them."
"You're right, but I just wanted to confirm that fact," the faceless man stated. "They may come in handy if and when you start the Defiant War. In fact, I'd like to personally give you technology I'm willing to give them to you at a bargain price to give you the leg-up so to speak."
"A leg up?" Grace queried in befuddlement.
"Better to be prepared than unprepared going into a future war I say," the individual eloquently added. He quickly produced a box and opened it up, revealing dueling technology never before seen and used in the current time period.
"This tech… it's so advanced! It's nothing I've seen!" Psyren examined the items inside. "Sir, we could definitely utilize these to our advantage, especially if I duel!"
"You can even use them to enhance those SOUJA units. I know you still have some sitting around and you're already upgrading them using that Power Jewel," the faceless man said, facing Cain.
As he was being handed the box by Psyren, Cain scanned the future technology.
"Why are you doing this?" Cain curiously asked. "Why go out of your way to aid our cause? Are you from this alternate future?"
The faceless man nodded dismissively. "No, I'm afraid not. I'm an individual who knows and has seen all possible outcomes… over millions of them. In over millions of these outcome, I've defeated my enemies. However, in the very few of these future outcomes, I've foreseen my own demise."
This vague statement was brought to everyone's attention. For a few moments, there was not a single word uttered as they took the faceless man's warning at face value.
Cain finally broke the silence. "You don't intend to help us long term then?"
"No, whatever happens to me is for fate to decide. Chances are my victory may be ensured and you won't have to worry about this Defiant War. It's your choice. I'm simply bettering your chances, but I would advise taking your time. The last thing you want is to rush into this conflict with no game plan. But, I trust you know what you're doing, Mr. Bearer," the faceless man said.
"We didn't get your name?" Psyren asked him.
"I… can't give you my name."
Cain frowned. "Oh, and why not?"
"Because there won't be any reason to tell you. Simply wait in a few days and you'll find out my true identity." The faceless man sat down in Cain's chair. "You don't mind if I sit here, Mr. Bearer."
Turning toward Neuromancer, Cain realized not even any Jewel of Eternity can seem to affect this mysterious individual. It was as if the man's existence was beyond human comprehension.
"And if you're going to label me as such, I'm not a Meta. My nature is beyond human and Meta logic. I've even seen the end of time. I've died and resurrected so many times that life and death have become mundane to me," he put his feet on Cain's desk. "At this point, life and death have no such bearing to me. By the way, the heroes are at their most vulnerable now. If you wish, you could kick start the Defiant War earlier than anticipated."
"We should take our chances, sir," Psyren suggested, gleaming over the new tech. "Who knows when we'll have this chance? Would you rather wait and assess our situation?"
Grace retorted. "Now see here, Psyren! You heard our guest, he said we should take our time. If we rush, then it won't do us any good."
Cain sighed. "Dirk, inform Trask to make quick modifications to our remaining SOUJA units with the new tech. Make it fast!"
"Yes, sir," Neuromancer picked up the box and ran off carrying the box.
Psyren placed the new tech on her Duel Disc. She gave Dragoon, Grapplo, and Zealoss some of the new tech for their Duel Discs.
"Hey, now this is fancy shit!" Zealoss was intrigued by his upgraded Duel Disc.
"Yes, now I can better use my cards with this!" Psyren said.
"Let's consider this an experiment, my friends," Cain declared. "Let us see how effective this new tech proves to be." He turned to the faceless man. "And for your sake, I hope they turn out well in our favor."
"I have no stakes in this, so do whatever," the faceless individual shrugged. "I'm just here to witness the carnage unfold."
Cain turned to face Psyren and the Defiant Knights. "Ok, are we ready to implement our plan? Let's capture any Meta or active hero you can find."
Grace interjected. "May I have a better suggestion?"
"Go on, Grace?"
"How about a divide and conquer strategy?"
Psyren smirked deviously. "Now I like where this is going."

(Cue Transformers: The Score - Decepticons)
Sailor Mercury was out field training with her daughter, Sailor Cyber Mercury, and Max Stromberg. Before they even had a chance to respond, electrified wires shot out of nowhere and seized the three. They were immediately stunned and neutralized. Two SOUJA units emerged from some bushes. Both were given quick enhancements with the future tech brought by the mystery man.
"Metas apprehended." The SOUJA units droned, encasing the three into a giant net. "Report to designated location."

Shibuya District/9:35 PM
Aoshi, in full Lycan form, fought off some criminals that robbed a market he was shopping for his family. The criminals' gunfire failed to put down the Lycan, who made short work of them. As he dropped his guard, a beam stunned him from behind. Then a pair of tendrils seized his arms and stunned him with electricity, causing him to regress to his human form. The SOUJA quickly collected the young man. The crowds jeered their hero being taken away.
"Civilians, are now at ease. The Meta threat will be taken into custody." The SOUJA unit droned as it followed the other unit that carried off Aoshi.

"No, please! Get back!" Yukina pleaded as she ran from a SOUJA.
And without hesitation, the SOUJA quickly captured the Koorime.
"Yukina!" Kuwabara roared as he stormed out after taking down a few thugs that tried to rob his him and his wife. He quickly pursued the SOUJA and prepared to attack, but a SOUJA blasted the ground near him and cut him off from going any further. "YUKINA!"
"KAZUMA!"
"Hiei, I know you can feel Yukina's distress. Let's meet somewhere and find Yukina."

Shibuya District/9:47 PM
After taking his wife Norn for a night flight over Tokyo, Blitzmon dropped her and Ryudamon off on a roof. Their fun was cut short when a beam hit Blitzmon and knocked him out.
"No, Junpei!" Norn cried out.
"Up there!" Ryudamon yelled out as he pointed to two SOUJA units flying over them.
"Surrender and let us take the Meta quietly." The machines droned.
"No chance!" Ryudamon declared as Norn's Digivice glowed and his entire body became covered in white light.
Just then, a metallic robbed grabbed Ryudamon and electrocuted him. As Ryudamon fell, Norn's body instinctively responded to her husband and Digimon's danger. She, too, glowed with white light, accessing her powers, but the SOUJAs quickly cut her rebound short and captured her.
"More powered beings apprehended."
"Take them at one of our three designated locations."

Domino City/9:50 PM
Joey, Serenity, Tristan, Miho, Duke, and Vivian were on their way over to the Royal Flush Arcade. Along the way, a bunch of smoke bombs exploded in front of the Duelists.
"Hey, what's the big idea?!" Tristan shouted.
"I can't see!" Joey yelled out.
"Ohohoho, sorry about that. Here, how's this?" Psyren was heard outside the smoke screen.
As the smoke cleared, the Duelists saw Psyren standing in front of them.
"Who the-! Wait, I know you!" Joey pointed to Psyren. "You're… um, Psycho?"
Psyren nearly facefaulted. "Psyren, you idiot! Sheesh, did Mai tell you to call me that?"
"All I know from her you're bad news."
"Heh, that's so true," chuckled Psyren.
Vivian dropped into a fighting stance. "Want me to take her down?"
Duke warned. "Be careful, Viv."
Psyren chortled. "Ohohoho, I wish I could play with you, but I'm on a tight schedule." With that, she pressed a button on a bracelet hanging on her right arm.
Suddenly, several beams blasted Joey and Serenity. Both were knocked out.
"Joey, Serenity…!" Tristan was quickly knocked out by a beam.
"Tristan!" Miho shouted, quickly taking out her Henshin Stick, but a SOUJA snapped a metal rope around her waist and stunned her, knocking her out.
"Miho!" Vivian quickly transformed into Sailor Haumea.
Duke Spirit Fused into Orgoth the Relentless.
"Quick! We have enough of them! Go!" Psyren hopped on a SOUJA unit and ordered them to take off.
As the SOUJA and Psyren got away with their captives, Haumea stopped one SOUJA with a wall of sand. Duke then brought down his giant sword and cut the machine down to size.
"They're still getting away with Joey, Tristan, Serenity, and Miho!" Haumea shouted.
"You go get Mai. I'll follow them!"
"Right!"

Royal Flush Arcade/8:55 PM
Sailor Haumea stormed into the arcade. Several gamers and customers paused to see one of Domino's famed Senshi arrive unexpected.
"Whoa, it's the Sand Senshi!"
"Sailor Haumea!" A fanboy shouted.
"Is Miss Valentine in? I need to see her, my loyal fans!"
"Over here, hun," Mai walked forward and approached Haumea. She whispered next to Haumea. "Vivian, what's wrong? You look like you came out of a fight."
"We did! Joey, Serenity, Miho, and the others just got captured by some robots. Duke's going after them."
Hearing this, Mai gasped. "What?!"
"And you know who was there to see their capture? Does the name Psyren ring any bells?"
"Where did they go?"

Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department/Garage/Kasumigaseki/Chiyoda, Tokyo/8:57 PM
"Kouichi?! What's going on out there?" Kotori heard her boyfriend Spirit Evolving and fighting something on the other line. She heard his cell drop. "Kouichi!" She mounted her motorbike and sped out toward Kouichi's location.
On the way, she convened with Himura, who rode his motorbike alongside her.
"Jeri's line got cut off, Kotori. It sounds like she was being attacked."
"There's already reports of robots capturing people all over Tokyo. And all of them are our friends. Just what the hell is going on?!"
"Can't be that Zeed X character."
"Who knows, but we've already been through so much crap that I'm ready to give that guy a piece of my mind!"
"Jeri, hang on. We're coming."
Byakko telepathically conversed with Himura. "Jeri's in a location near here. Having been bonded with her, I can sense their presence."
"Byakko knows where she is."
"Then, that's where we're going," Kotori nodded. "Hopefully Kouichi is there with her."

Azabu-Juuban/Rooftop/9:15 PM
Having spent enough time in solitude, Sailor Sedna ended her meditation and got up to do some stretching.
"Ok, I think that'll be enough."
Just then, she saw something cast a big shadow over her. Her eyes fiercely narrowed as she turned and dodged a rope being shot at her. She somersaulted, avoiding a similar fate that has befallen the others.
"What the…?!" Sedna looked up as she saw two SOUJA units landing near her. "Why can't a girl just have her space?" She scoffed and summoned her ice trident.
"Meta spotted. Surrender now, Meta."
"Meta? You think I'm one of those Metahumans you've been hunting?" Sedna asked. "And I thought the West Coasters shut down that factory, or so I'm told?"
"If you won't willing comply with your surrender, we will apprehend you with extreme force."
"Bring it on!" Sedna goaded the SOUJA units.
As the machine flew at the Ice Senshi, she jumped over them and casually swung down her Ice Trident. She quickly put them down and covered them in ice sheets.
"I wonder if me transforming earlier triggered their signals toward me."
Before she can finish off the frozen SOUJA, a beam blasted her in the back and knocked her down.
"Ugh, crap…!" Sedna cursed. As she tried getting up, she reached for her Henshin Dagger, but the one SOUJA ensnared her with an electrified net. The net not only captured but neutralized her, too. She raised her head to see Psyren arriving with another SOUJA.
Psyren deviously smiled. "Have a nice nap, Sailor Senshi." She recognized the Ice Senshi from the faceless man's YYGDM-DE future footage. "You'll go nicely with the others we've captured. I do believe we've captured a few of your fellow Sailor Senshi."
"What…? You…!" Sedna fell unconscious as she got electrocuted.
"Heh, since you're supposedly going to go tyrannical in the near future, why don't I take you to Cain Bearer? I'm sure he'd love to make an example out of…" Before she can finish, Cain's voice interrupted her through a SOUJA unit.
"Take that Senshi with the rest of our captives. We can lure her colleagues to us at one of the three locations we've agreed on."
"Ok, but one of those three locations happens to be your building."
"Yes on CainCorp's rooftop. Put her there."
Psyren sighed. "Whatever you say, boss." She closed off communications and walked over to Sedna. "Hear that? We're gonna use you to lure out your friends. Let's see who comes first to try and rescue you! SOUJA units, let's move!"
As the SOUJA made off with their catch, Sedna's Henshin Dagger fell and hit the ground.

Dimitri and Faith waited outside for Sedna's return.
"She's sure taking a long time."
Dimitri patted him. "Give it a rest. Let's give her all the space she ne-" He quickly felt Sedna's presence seemingly fade. "Karin?!"
"You felt that, too," Faith frowned.
"KARIN!" Dimitri shot up into the air and took off toward Sedna's last location.

As they arrived, Dimitri picked up Sedna's Valkyrie Dagger.
"This is Karin's."
"What happened? Where did she go?" Faith wondered.
Dimitri's cell went off as he answered the first call. "Tyra? What's going on?" He listened to Sailor Varuna's distressed response. "What? Some machines captured Helena?!"
Not long after Varuna's call, he got calls from Kotori, Himura, Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus, Vega, Yui, and many others.
"Sounds like everyone else's facing a similar dilemma, but a few have managed to fight back. According to a few of them, they saw these robots taking our friends to that CainCorp place." Dimitri said.
Faith snorted angrily. "I hate machines." He reminded Dimitri of their previous encounters with the murderous Artificials in their former timeline.
"You and me both, Faith. Now let's go!" Dimitri flew off carrying his girlfriend's dagger. First, my mother and Athena get taken from me… now… no, I'm NOT about to lose you either, Karin! Kensuke, I wish you were here! We'd find Karin together!

Kensuke suddenly felt a jolt rush through his head. "SIS!" As he prepared to use Instant Movement, Slade and Darkstar grabbed his arms.
"Hold on there! If you go now, something bad is going to happen!" Darkstar warned.
Slade raised an eyebrow. "I know Kiva's gotten some degree of clairvoyance, but really, dude?"
Darkstar nodded to Slade's response.
The two soon were then forced to let go of Ken when he powered up.
"Fine have it your way, but whatever happens is on you. You might as well take this." Slade tossed Ken a small white mask that attached to his face before disappearing.
"What the hell is this?" Ken asked, gazing over the mask.
"Someone you fucking shot, so you get to deal with him."
Ken growled and vanished with Instant Movement.
"Giving him a Persona, and one of the demon lords at that, really?" Darkstar noted bringing Slade into question.
"Hey, he was the one who provoked the a-hole by shooting him." Slade replied. "I didn't feel like dealing with it. Besides, I'm sure it will come in handy."
"I'll never get you sometimes." Darkstar replied. "What if him and that Persona don't work out?"
"I always have a back-up plan."

On his way to meet with the other heroes and rescue their friends, Dimitri and Faith were caught in a fight with a SOUJA. They became Angemon X and fought off the machine.
"Out of my way, toaster!" Angemon X snarled, preparing to chop the SOUJA with his sword.
Suddenly, he was surprised when Kensuke popped up and blasted the robot effortlessly.
"Ken!? Are you...sane right now?"
Turning to Angemon X, he saw that Ken's eyes showed he had calmed down from his earlier rampage. However, there was clearly anger.
"Where is she?!" he demanded, knowing Sedna had been kidnapped.
"I don't know! That's who I'm finding! Whatever these robot's are, they must've taken her somewhere shielded. I can't locate her."
Ken sensed around the area before putting his fingers to his head.
"I've found her!" With that, he vanished.
"Oh come on!" Angemon X shouted as he disappeared. Another SOUJA appeared to intercept and fight Angemon X. Ken for your sake you better remain stable!He noted mentally as he casually tore the SOUJA apart.

Warehouse/Domino Pier/10:07 PM
Elsewhere, several of the heroes were caught up with a SOUJA unit to take them toward the Domino Pier. It was the same venue where Yugi dueled Joey, who was under Marik's control.
Jaden Yuki came with Sailor Venus, Sailor Jupiter, Vega, Daiki, Psyche, and Henry & Terriermon. However, several SOUJA arrived to cut them off from the pass.
Vega turned to Jaden. "Go Jaden! My spirits are telling me Mercury, Amaya, Max, and your friends are in there! We'll head these metalheads off!" He got into a fighting stance and charged Ki in his hands.
"There's a chance my daughter, Umi, and husband are in there, too!" Jupiter added.
"Oh no, Ai," Venus gasped. She nodded to Jaden. "You go ahead! We'll follow!"
"Right!" Jaden shouted as he ran by a SOUJA. As another tried to stop him, Henry invoked Genbu's spirit and turned into Henbu.
Terriermon evolved into Gargomon and unloaded his gatling guns, unloading rounds on the machine. Henbu managed to get by the SOUJa and followed Jaden.
"I can at least follow! Gargomon, back them up!" Henbu called out.
"On it!" Declared Gargomon.
As the others handled the SOUJA, Jaden and Henbu entered the pier where they saw Grapplo wearing some kind of heavily armored power suit. Inside hanging in a cage were several of the captives: Sailor Mercury, Sailor Cyber Mercury, Max, Sailor Battle Jupiter, Sailor Summoner Venus, Sara Shinobu, Mako Tsunami, Syrus, Hassleberry, and Alexis.
"Jay!" Syrus called out to his best buddy.
"Sy! Hassleberry! Alexis! You guys got caught in the mix, too?!" Jaden was surprised to see his friends inside.
Alexis spoke up. "We kinda exposed our Spirit Fused powers when we were helping stop these robots. We ended up getting captured."
Hassleberry tried to break loose from the energy cords binding him and the others. "Darn it! Can't break loose. It's like these ropes are made to shock us if we try using our powers!"
Sara shouted. "Henry! Thank goodness, but didn't any others come?!"
Henbu nodded. "Yeah, but they're in the middle of fighting those machines! Terriermon stayed behind to help them!"
Just then, Henbu and Jaden heard low chuckling. They faced Grapplo, who finally moved from his spot.
"Glad you can bring a friend, Jaden Yuki. He can witness me beat you," Grapplo chortled.
"Let our friends go!" Henbu demanded.
"Oh sure, no problem, but just one teeny problem. I can't," Grapplo shrugged.
Jaden scoffed. "Let me guess, I gotta duel you again… um… Grappler?"
"Grapplo!"
"Sorry, but I'm not good with remembering right-hand henchmen names. But, I do remember dueling you," Jaden activated his Duel Disk. "And I never go anywhere without my Duel Disc!"
Grapplo readied his Duel Disc. "I'm glad we can see eye to eye. Now, I can beat you with my more up-to-date cards, Jaden."
Jaden smiled. "Bring it on."
Cyber Mercury sardonically muttered. "Great, these two are gonna mouth off. Yeah, make us wait. This is gonna take a while."
Max leaned on Cyber Mercury, comforting her. "Don't worry, Amaya. If there's anyone who'll school this punk, it's Jaden."
Battle Jupiter cheered him. "Yeah, show him, Jaden!"
Summoner Venus added. "Your name is legendary in our time!"
Sailor Mercury smiled and nodded. "We trust our fates in you, Jaden." As she said this, she slipped her mini-computer from her glove and started tampering the binding ropes with it.
"Ready?!" Grapplo shouted.
"Let's duel!" Jaden declared.

Mai and Morpheous left with Sailor Haumea. They headed for a location near the arcade. They saw Duke waving to them.
"They're over here in a warehouse!" Duke beckoned them over.
"Are in there?!" Haumea asked him.
"Yeah, but there's two of those robots guarding the front entrance!"
Mai smirked. "Then, I'll leave it to you three to handle them?"
As the group arrived at the warehouse entrance, the two SOUJA units opened fire on them. Sailor Haumea amassed dirt from the ground, converting it into sand and sending a wave toward one SOUJA. Duke turned into Orgoth again and tackled the other SOUJA unit. Morpheous shapeshifted into a Red-Eyes Black Dragon and fired molten blasts at the SOUJA unit.
"Go!" Haumea called out as she pulverized her SOUJA opponent with earth-shattering sand blast.
With that, Mai stormed into the warehouse. She spotted a large forcefield cage containing Joey, Serenity, Tristan, and Miho.
"Mai!" Serenity cried out to her.
"See? What did I tell ya? My girl ain't one to let us down," Joey smirked.
Psyren rolled her eyes and golf clapped. "Congratulations for making it this far, my old rival. Mai Valentine, are you prepared for the pain that awaits you?"
"You've gone too far, Psyren. Being a rival is one thing, now you kidnap my friends and force a duel from me?" Mai activated her Duel Disc. "Who lent you these robots?"
Psyren chortled, turning on her Duel Disc. "If you can beat me, maybe I'll consider revealing my employer, but fat chance of you beating me. I'll finally defeat you in a duel."
"Good luck with that, you arrogant bitch. The end result will always be the same: me beating you," Mai eyed Joey and Serenity. "Except this time, I'm fighting with something meaningful at stake."
"Then, let's see how you fare against the new deck I have in store for you. Get ready for nightmares beyond your imagination!" Psyren boasted.

"Alright boys! Game's over!" Kotori demanded as she, Himura, Felinismon, and Leomon caught up with Zealoss and Dragoon, who were wearing similar powersuits as Grapplo and Psyren.
Inside another big cage were Sailor Sedna, Sailor Quaoar, Jeri, Loweemon, Blitzmon, Norn & Ryudamon, Chakkoumon, Aoshi, Yukina, and Kohana, were all still bound by the SOUJA's capture energy cords.
"JERI!" Himura, Leomon, and Felinismon yelled in unison. They made a dash for the cage, but Dragoon stopped them.
"Hate to break this to you, but the game is still on." Dragoon taunted. "You want your friends free? You've got to duel us!"
Himura sighed, reaching for his gun. "Why should we?"
"Simple. If any force other than dueling energy is used against us, then dangerous life threatening energy shocks will be emitted inside the cage torturing those within."
Kotori growled. "Cowards." She muttered as Himura sighed and submitted.
"Guess, I don't have a choice. I'll have to go get my deck, my sister Yui, and one of the..." He stopped when Kensuke popped up behind the two, looking thoroughly pissed off. "...other Tamers?"

"It's Kensuke!" Felinismon cried.
Kotori frowned. "Oh great. Ken, you've got a lot to answer for as it is. Don't screw this up."

Suddenly, an unknown voice coming from Kensuke's Persona mask entered her head. Your alternate self already humiliated me. Get in the way of my 'partner' and I won't hesitate for revenge.
Kotori shook her head. She knew that was not Ken, Zeed X , or anyone else she might know.
"Who the hell was…?" She was cut off when Sedna saw Kensuke.
"Brother, are you sure you're ok?!" She had reason to be worried following what had happened with Tagiru and Tike, but Ken simply nodded, although she could tell he was angry.
"You fools have a lot of balls. Prepare to lose them along with your souls for daring to take my sister hostage." He said activating his duel disk. A dark aura flared up around him showing he wasn't playing around. Although they should've felt confident seeing it was going to be a two on one duel, his attitude and aura were scaring them.
"Ok tough guy, you want to take us on handicap style? Fine. I guess you can have 8000 life points then." Dragoon said trying to maintain a brave facade.
Zealoss knew better as Ken started laughing.
"You will regret that decision on top of the ones you two have made already!" He laughed as the each drew five cards. "I guess it's only fair you two go first."
The two former Paradias Knights gulped as the duel started.

Not far from the CainCorp building, the bulk of the SOUJA units convened to defend the grounds against a wave of heroes coming to rescue their friends. Sailor Mars, Hiei, Kuwabara, Sailor Varuna, Yui & ShadowMetalGarurumon, Sam Stromberg, Sailor Blue Mars, and Wolfmon engaged the incoming SOUJA units.
"Outta the way, you metal bastards! Nothing's getting between me and my love!" Kuwabara roared, swinging his Spirit Sword and cutting off the arm of a SOUJA.
"Guys! Up there! It's Dimitri!" Yui pointed to the sky.
The Ascendant quickly swooped down and fired a Ki blast that obliterated a SOUJA unit. He drew out his sword and cut another in two.
"Karin!" Angemon X shouted.
"We've followed these robots here!" Wolfmon said. "This must be where Kouichi's being held!"
"And probably where Karin is," Sailor Mars said, unleashing a Mars Snake Fire that destroyed a SOUJA unit.
Sailor Varuna brandished both her Stormbreaker axe and Mjolnir. "Release Helena now!"
Angemon X flew up toward the CainCorp building, but three SOUJAs barricaded his path.
"I'll tear through each and every one last of you!" Angemon X angrily roared, slashing and attacking the three SOUJAs.

Jaden paled as a Synchro Summon was performed. In place of the two monsters was a new one; this time a small kabuki like warrior with a shield.
"Meet Goyo Defender!"

Grapplo grinned. "What kind of fool do you take me for, Jaden? Did you think I'd summon a monster like this alone? Its effect allows me to special summon another one since I've only got Earth Warrior Synchro Monsters out, and guess what? I get a third one, too."
Jaden was surprised as was those captured when two more Goyo Defenders joined the first one.
"It doesn't matter how many of those things you summon, with only 1000 attack each they won't be hard to take down!" Jaden declared.
Grapplo only laughed at this remark. "I dare you. Since if you were able to, their other effect would kick in and each one would get 1000 extra points for each other one. Meaning their attack would go up to 3000 each. Luckily, or rather unlucky for you, I've got a different plan. I play Polymerizationto fuse two of them into Goyo Emperor!"
A more regal Kabuki warrior sitting on a throne appeared. Its attack power made Jaden nervous.

"You'll do no such thing!" Mai yelled back.
"Duel!" They both shouted.

A machine with sparks flying from its giant hands appeared.

The cubed juggling puppet that she had played against Kensuke before returned.

"Do not mention his name again! Now come forth Magical Android!"

"Risky gamble you know." Kensuke said smirking.
Dragoon growled as he performed an XYZ summon. "Shut up. Here comes my monster: Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis!"

"SAY WHAT?!" Zealoss, Dragoon and Himura all called out at the same time.
Kotori looked at Himura confused. "I take it you don't know what that is?"
Himura shook his head as the two magicians appeared standing across from each other with large numbers underneath them.

The two monsters appeared with Odd-Eyes roaring out.

However seeing Ken's evil grin take on slasher properties disturbed Dragoon. He and Zealoss realized he had something in mind.
"I'm not done, Performapal U Go Golem's effect now activates! I fuse it with Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon to summon Performapal Gatlinghoul!"
In place of the two monsters, there was now a Goblin in a mobster suit wielding a tommy gun.

"Dragon plus Statue equals Goblin with tommy gun?! What the fuck?!" Dragoon balked and tried to understand this illogical sequence.
"At least my fusion makes sense." Zealoss said referring to his Arcana Knight Joker.
However, unlike Dragoon, he wasn't going to let his guard down. Despite the fact this new monster was still weaker than both of theirs, he knew Kensuke wouldn't have summoned it if he didn't have a plan.
"His effect now activates. For every card on the field, I can slam one of you for 200 points per card!" Dragoon and Zealoss both paled. There were currently ten cards on the field, meaning one of them was about to lose half their life points. "You know as much as I'd love to torture the mouthy one, I think i'll pick you!" Kensuke said pointing to Zealoss. His monster opened fire with his gun. The moment the 'bullets' made impact, Zealoss began screaming in utter pain. His body was wracked with torture after each shot. His nervous system pushed beyond its threshold as the pain caused him to fall to the ground. He struggled to his feet, but he could barely manage to get up.

"What the hell…?! I thought these suits were supposed to help us! That damage just now, it was not holographic!" Dragoon cried as Zealoss could barely stand.
The aura around Kensuke's body began to darken more as his eyes turned red.
"Brother stop this!" Sedna pleaded, but he couldn't hear her.

Dragoon turned to face him as he saw the goblin preparing to fire again, and the barrel was pointing to Arcana Knight Joker.
"Dude, you can't! He can barely stand after what you just did!"
Kensuke, however, only pointed forward. "You're the ones who started this. Now prepare yourselves, for the ultimate DELETION!" With that Performapal Gatlinghoul opened fire once again.

Chaosblazer notes: You'll get the end of the duels next time (to whoever it was that mentioned Psyren and predaplants, I thought about that, but Psychic monsters fit her more given her powers. As for why she used machines during her duel with Ken, it was symbolism of the SOUJA units since a West Coaster was there) as well as some other nice treats. A/N: Hey, all. This was a quick little something that ties-in into the inevitable Wrath of the Defiants story and sorta revives the Gaiden section. So, what a way to kill two birds with one big stone?

For those wondering how Synchros and the like are now usable in this time period, that's why the 'faceless guy' brought that future tech with him. Other than Kensuke (who already comes from another universe), no one else should have any access to Synchros and Pendulum Summoning in the present day.
If the kidnappings came off as rushed, well this was never intended to be long. This is merely an appetizer of what's to come for WotD. And believe me, SOUJAs won't be the only thing our heroes will be contending with in that story. Also, keep in mind this is after our heroes just came back from fighting life-or-death battles against Zamasmon/Black Ascendant Trio and Zeed X. They're pooped out and haven't fully recovered. Plus, the SOUJAs and Psyren coordinated sneak attacks.
As for why the faceless man no sold Neuromancer's Reality Jewel, his identity will be revealed in the next chapter. But, it should be pretty damn obvious whoever's been following my latest Cross Generations updates.
Next time, part two will finish the duels and resolve this conflict. Plus, some of Cain's crew are about to suffer Kensuke's unbridled fury. ;)
