clean break
Dawn saw Janice at school. She doubted Buffy would like it, but she owed Janice this much at least.
Janice: So, how are they punishing you?
Dawn: I have to work at the Magick Shop until Anya says the debt is repaid.
Janice: Isn't that child labor? Especally with Anya, she is such a bi...
Dawn; Hey, she is my friend. Besides I stole, I deserve to be punished.
Janice: This is my fault, I should've taught you how to steal better. We'll work on that.
Dawn: No we won't. Buffy is so dissapointed in me, I hate knowing what I did to her. I need to earn back her trust.
Janice: Since when do you care what Buffy thinks of you?
Dawn: Since I let her down like this. And if you can't understand that, maybe I can't hang out with you anymore.
Janice: Fine. I'll just find some friends who know how to have fun. Take care.
As Janice walked away Dawn was hurt. Some friend Janice was. But she knew she had done the right thing. Janice was a bad influence on her. If Dawn was going to make amends with Buffy she had to make a clean break from bad influence like Janice.
