Chapter 21: I Knew that He Would Save Me

As I walked across the large deserted parking lot I became extremely nervous knowing what was coming to me. I passed quickly by an ally way but not quick enough. I saw them, and seeing that they turned my way. They definitely saw me. My heart started to freeze and I kept breathing hard. In other words...I freaking out. I looked a head at the red brick buildings trying to get back to the road where there were more people. I just can't wait here and do nothing. My nerves are already falling apart.

"Hey girl, where you going?" One of them called. His voice just shook me up worse. I sped up the pace that my legs were going while I tried to find a way out. But more men had come out and started blocking my path while tossing unopened bar cans to each other. I looked up and got a clear view of two of their faces. And of course I recognized them as being the creeps that were looking at Jessica through the window at the dress were laughing at each other as they surrounded me. I felt on edge and very agitated. I've never felt so helpless and fearful to the point of all my insides feeling twisted and pulled. Because this time I don't have a bathroom to hide in or a classroom to have the decision to walk out of. It was just me out in the open. I looked up at one of the men in fear and contempt.

"Looks like we got us a party boys!" He said looking back at me. Then they all laughed coming closer.

"Looks like it." A man said behind me touching me on my shoulder. I flinched away.

"Don't touch me freak!" I yelled turning around. It was getting harder to breath. I wanted to yell and scream and lash out at them. But I was to afraid that they would end up grabbing me instead of me hurting either them.

"What you don't like us? We could have a lot of fun together. Oh guys look at her she's so pretty." The guy wearing a hat said.

"Yeah, why wouldn't we want to touch a little thing like you." The guy who touched me said. Then he looked me up and down more intensely. "Dame! Look at that body! Voluptuous! Just my type!" He said smirking. I shifted uncomfortably as his words made me feel dirty. I put my arms around my lower half.

"Leave me alone now!" I yelled at them.

"Come on girl." One of them said.

"Yeah, you just make us crazy! Crazy like a dog! Woof! Woof! Ooooowwww!" Another one said coming closer to my back.

"No! I yelled trying to get away. Then I heard it. The roar of a cars engine along with the sound of it's tires screeching on the cold wet pavement broke through the terrorized atmosphere. The men all turned towards the sound to see what it was. I turned my head towards it as well wildly hoping that it was Edward. And there he was getting out of his Volvo as it's lights shined onto the pavement and myself as well as the men. Though I was still surrounded by the shameful men Edward presences made me feel extremely relieved. But he did look really scary. Walking up to us he had a strong scowl on his face. Like he could break Port Angelas, which he could. Thankfully he kept his heard gaze on the.

"Get in." He demanded me to other circumstances I wouldn't stand to be talked to like a child. But not when he's recusing me. I'll just let him do his thing. I ran to the car and quickly got in. And something tells me if I hear Edward speak like this in that tone of voice with that rage in his eyes it'll be best to comply then too. I know for a fact, that for a very very long time I will be grateful to him. I watched from the window as one on of the drunk guys talked to Edward then he looked even more frightened and quickly shut up. After him and his group backed away from Edward. Wise choice. Edward turned around and walked sternly to the car, then he opened the door and got in. Mt chest heaved from his presence. I looked at his hand as he shifted the the stick and blacked up. I shakily glared at the vile men as Edward drove up to them to scare even more, and increased the glare as he backed up to turn around. I we drove further away from the men I looked at Edward to see his smooth pale jaw clenched tightly as he glared at the road. His was even hotter when his was angry. Eh, I need to be more sentimental. I looked out at the stores as we passed them and after a couple of minutes Edward took a breath...finally.

"I should go back there and kills those guys." He said angrily. And I know he could do it. Which scared me and made me happy at the same time because he felt so protective of me. No guy has ever been this protective of me...Well except my brothers, but they moved out when I was around eleven. I hid my blush and looked at him hard.

"No, you should not. And you know it. You're just angry right now. When you calm down you'll regret it later." I said convincingly. He shook his head.

"You're right. But you don't know the disgusting things that they were thinking about you. " His voice was hard as he said this. He just couldn't stand the thought of what could have happened to me. Heck. I couldn't stand the thought of what could have happened to me. I frowned and scrunched up my nose slightly. I almost got... I shook my head not wanting to think of the word.

"Alright, I don't know what they were thinking about doing to, nor do I care to try." I said leaning my head forward as I looked at him. "All you need to do is calm down." I said worriedly. He looked at me for few seconds from the side of his eyes then back at the road.

"I can't..." He breathed. "Say something-Anything to get my mind off of them!" He said hurriedly, making me feel nervous and rushed. I shook my head slowly trying to think of something.

"Uh..." I decided to be truthful and said the first thing that came into my mind. "Today was a turning point in my life." I side.

"Why!?" He snapped. I looked down thinking of how to throw him off. An emotional answer is the better way to go for a guy like him. I looked at him. "Today I realized that someone really cares about me." I said in monotone as I voiced my true thoughts. Well I didn't just realize he cared about me today, but right now I didn't want him to know that.

"Why do you think that people don't care about you?" He asked. His tone was taken down a little. I guess that it was working but I didn't expect for him to asked me that question.

"I know that my family cares,but...nobody outside of them really actually cares. Of course I have friends,but... their just not..." I said trying to think of the right words.

"Not?" He asked, pushing me to finish.

"Not close enough." I finished.

"Hmm." He nodded. "Tell me more." He said even more calm then before. I was about to say something but then I looked at the road. We were going faster than before. Everything way passing in a blur. Yup A LOT faster than before. I pushed myself into the seat further.

"Could you slow down first!" I spoke up and asked. Why didn't I expect this!? Edward looked at me strangely and chuckled.

"I did. I was going ten miles faster a minute ago. I cocked my head to the side at him.

"What!?" I asked loudly. Then I turned my head at the window to see the street lights pass by in a blur. I gasped and closed my eyes as I sat facing forward in my seat. The rest of the car ride ended swiftly. As soon as the car stopped I took off my seat belt and got of the car, almost stumbling twice. Edward who was already on my side of the care, shook his head and took my arm. I looked at him and smiled then I looked towards the restaurant. I saw Jessica, Lauren and Angela coming out of the restaurant. They were heading in the opposite direction of us towards Jessica's car. As Edward and I neared the front of LaBella Italia I noticed just how my body wasn't rejecting being so close to him like it did with most guys. Usually I feel uncomfortable and distance myself. But I do also feel a kind of excitement. And I liked it.

"Angela!" I called after them. They turned theirs heads then their bodies.

"Jessica! Where were you?" The other Jessica asked. Then she and the other girls looked beside me. No doubt at Edward. I was about to explain myself but Edward had already spoken up.

"Hi, i'm Edward. I'm sorry I kept Jessica from dinner. We just got to talking and lost track of the time." He said charmingly. And I thought Robin Thicke was smooth. I nodded as I agreed with him. They looked at me with smug expressions, especially Jessica. Her expression said 'you little sneak'. I avoided eye contact with him.

"No it's okay." Angela said blushing.

"Yeah, really. People always lose track of time." Jessica agreed while moving her hair to the side. I looked up at them again to ask a question. Of course I already what the answer was but it was a good way to get their attention off Edward a little.

"Did you guys already eat?" I asked. Jessica looked at.

"Yeah we were waiting on you for awhile and we were starving." Jessica said. Before I felt to guilty Edward spoke up again.

"I'll make sure that Jessica has something to eat, and i'll take her home. If that's okay?" He asked taking a step a head of me. They melted underneath his gaze.

"It's totally okay." Angela said.

"Yeah." Jessica agreed.

"Well I guess we'll see you later Jessica." Jessica said. Her eyes had a look in them that said 'i'll get the details from you later'. Then Lauren had started walking towards the car and Jessica followed.

"Bye." Angela said turning to go with them. I looked after them as they started to get into the car. Then I heard Edward speak next to me.

"We should head inside." He said looking down at me. I looked up at his handsome face and smiled.

"Okay." I answered. As I started going up the steps he followed after me.
